By far the best pizza restaurant I have been to. The food is to die for, especially the arancini, calamari and Ronny J pizza. I love the vibe of the place - casual, funky and cozy! The staff are amazing and a special shout out to the head waitress’s Rose. She always ensures our experience is 10/10. I come here at least 2-3 times a month.

It's not my first visit but first for 2020. A Boy Named Sue has been around for a while and I've always found it a quaint place that blends in with the environment of St. Andrews. It's hippie. It's quirky. It's a nice place to just sit and enjoy a Saturday morning market unfold on a Saturday. From your seat outdoors, you can smell the incense wafting over from the market, the sound of the motorcyclists postering as they come through town, or the click black of the lycra clad cyclists as they madke their way to ABNS for their coffee fix.
The menu is good and has something for everyone, particularly vegetarians and vegans are catered for well. I had the breakfast bowl of fruit and home made muesli with natural yoghurt. A good portion size making it a nice healthy start to the day.
My daughter had the sour dough with poached eggs and added a site of avocado and feta. Another good portion size, but perhaps a little too much feta. Her friend had the 'Suck Eggs" which consisted of 2 poached eggs in a cup with sour dough soldiers, garlic & chilli oil and goat cheese with maple coated bourcher bacon steak. The goats cheese was amazing but the eggs a little undercooked.
Latte, chai latte and iced latte were all good although once again, part of the order was forgotton.
Prices are reasonable. Staff are friendly and very helpful even if they did forget something. Apologetic and quick to get it on the table. Did look at the breakfast pizza someone was having on another table and it looked awesome - that's on my hit list for next time.
Note: not really wheelchair friendly. Definitely kid friendly. Parking can be a challenge ona market day.
Mary had a little Lamb, Prushoto. Expensive but worth it. PS self reminder water is warm & make sure my lips dont bleed.
Antipasto plate ($24)
The fun guy ($24.50)
Up there caprese ($26)
Broccolini bowl ($14.50)
Overall ⭐️ 5/5 ⭐️
🍴Really delicious food at this cosy restaurant that we chanced upon after visiting #omarualpacafarm . We enjoyed every dish and had no complaints. The #antipastoplate was a generous serving of meats, cheese (loved the soft mozzarella) & pickles. The salty meat, sour pickes, fresh cheese, and crisp bread went well together. Their pizzas were also great and we all enjoyed the fun guy mushroom pizza that was a flavourful mix of various mushrooms with thyme and garlic. The #uptherecaprese had tomatoes, basil, mozzarella and herb salad and was more refreshing in nature. The #broccolini bowl was well-executed in flavour with the brocolloni paired well with Parmesan, chilli, and walnuts. All in all a great experience and would visit if I was ever in the area again

In St Andrews, it's a bit of a hike to get there, but it's a nice start before going to the St Andrews market. The coffee is great, balanced. It's better than so many places that tout themselves as specialty coffee, because at the end of the day, most people just want a balanced coffee.Breakfast isn't the most amazing breakfast you'll have, but it's not bad. Would regularly return.
My fiance and I love this place. It's a great quaint place that you can enjoy eating outside in the nice weather and enjoy your surroundings. Great pizzas and yummy sticky date pudding! We love love love it!
I’m a large Johnny Cash fan. I’m not fat but like I’m a big fan of him. (But to be honest I could probably lose a few kgs) I’ve been here a few times and it’s heaps good as. This is a photo of a burger I had there. It was so great I just wish I could eat it again but that would be disgusting.
My boyfriend and I stopped by here on our way to Kinglake. Both of us had the cheeseburger which was really tasty. I wasn’t a huge fan of the fries, I felt they were a bit dry (the accompanying sauce wasn’t my cup of tea either).
However, lovely cafe in a beautiful setting. Really enjoyed sitting outside in the sun.
A Boy named Sue is a Pizzeria and cafe in the lovely treed rural township of St Andrews. I noticed it while heading to the St Andrew’s market, and it was open for breakfast, so naturally I had to check it out. The building appears to be an original early 20th century structure, refitted for its current use, but retaining its rustic charm. Inside its large gable roof sports exposed beams, and a whitewashed stone wall and paved brick floor complete the effect. A large open kitchen extends along the length of the dining space, large windows grace the facade, and a terraced area provides sheltered outdoor tables. The settings comprise timber tables and plush antique upholstered chairs in burgundy. Some appropriate folksy music played in the background, and it was warm and cosy on what was a cold winter morning. The brunch menu was interesting, with some unusual fare such as breakfast pizzas, and squash, pea and quinoa fritters which was my selection that morning, sans eggs. It was tasty and filling, and the coffee was also very good. It is evident that local produce is used wherever possible. The pizza menu also had some different takes on your standard pizza variety, and vegan cheese is available for all pizzas. I found the service cheerful and relaxed, and they happily accommodated my menu variation. A pleasant dining experience, and a breakfast that hit the spot before my visit to the market across the road.
A Boy Named sue
Upon discovering A Boy Named Sue a few years ago, I fell in love. In love with the vibes, the area and more than anything, the best pizza I've ever laid tastebuds on!
Not being from the area, a trip there would be once in a blue moon. It had been quite a while since my last visit, but I finally made my way back for another slice of heaven! I do feel as though the quality of the pizza has dropped, and there was a slight sweetness to the sauce, which I'm personally not a fan of, but still amazing pizza. Our jug of water was full of floaties which was quite off-putting. But oh boy, do they do a good arancini. Those crispy balls of cheesy goodness are what A Boy Named Sue is all about for me now!
Have come here for dinner with friends multiple times and come for breakfast regularly. The food is so fantastic and fresh. The antipasto platter is fantastic and good value. Pizzas are awesome and the sticky date is the best I have ever had. The breakfast pizza is awesome. Worth the trip out to St Andrews especially on Saturday mornings for the market. It's a lovely atmosphere.
