Review Leroy Espresso - St Kilda

Ben Maron
Had lunch here... There were heaps of food options catering for all sorts of dietary requirements. Food was well presented and tasty. They had all day breakfast as well as the lunch menu. We didn't have to wait long to be served or get our food. Had a coffee as well, was good but not great. Worth checking out... I come here again...

Very nice coffee and a menu with a lot of variety. Busy because the centric location. Amazing smoothies and Fresh Juices. Im in love with the chicken and avo sandwich, generous meal.

This place has been going a while now and is consistently good in the ever trendy Acland Street. Good food choices here and the coffee was excellent. Somewhat of a funky place to come and watch the comings and goings of St Kilda. Do try something on the breakfast menu. Dietaries catered for, just let staff know. Takeaway available. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram and stroller accessible. Parking is okay.

(Edited as the opening times were incorrect last time). Leroy Espresso is no longer open at night, but I managed to visit during the day. I had the Al Green and my friend had the Parma special. The asparagus had the tough ends left on. The meal was wholesome otherwise though. The portions were quite large. Unfortunately the coffee was weak and not creamy. However the chai was nice because it was served in a small pot which was a bit special! It was not very sweet, which is fine by me. Overall, I would recommend trying Leroy Espresso if you are passing through, but I would not travel to St Kilda to try it again. Although, I know there are new owners so depending on future reviews I may change my opinion.

Ordered the banana waffles with berry compote and vegan vanilla bean ice cream. Delicious and filling! Great variety of meals on the menu. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Quick service too. However the vibe of the cafe is more suitable for families and kids. If you’re after a more peaceful brunch, try elsewhere. I recommend this cafe for vegans and vegetarians or families with young children. High chairs are available.

A very pleasant surprise. We were not expecting much and was just after a coffee and somewhere to hide from the sun. The coffee was magnificent and the food was perfect. A wonderful combination of eggs, bacon, avocado and cheese. A perfect start to the day.

Lovely cafe in St Kilda. Great brunch food, coffee, and nice servers. Nice outdoor seating for enjoying the sun and people watching. I highly recommend!

Sitting down in this cafe felt like an insult to the first lady. The young boy who got barked at to come and serve us looked liked he hated himself more than Charlie Sheen at the end of a night out. After scraping the crumbs off my table, I didn't want to defile my mouth on the dirty glasses and mugs. The spoons had chocolate fingerprints and the cups were covered in grime and residue from the previous lucky soul who go my mug. 10/10 would recommend

I have been to leroys a few times now. And the service is outstanding, as well as the staff and their food and cafe. I decided to celebrate my birthday here and people loved the venue, and commented on the food. Highly recommend this place for lunch, dinner or functions. I am a harsh critique when it comes to this being in the music industry, and working 8 years off lygon street I know what's expected for good food and cafe.

If you gathered up all your childhood memories of tasting your favourite dish for the first time and then toasted them in delight and sprinkled them with complete satisfaction then it would taste somewhat like the meals at Leroys. We travel to StKilda every year from Wangaratta and have breakfast here. We love the menu and the staff are always awesome.

The food and coffee at Leroy’s is great and offers options to cater to any dietary requirements. Not only is the food always good, but the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming whenever I have gone in. Hidden gem at the end of Ackland!

Amaizing place to eat, Great coffee and the staff are the best host ever. Last night we celebrated my Brothers birthday and with great space to dance and celebrate the night away!! This is 10/10 place to hide, eat and drink.

Super friendly staff, good coffee and the best gluten free chocolate brownie! (Asked for it warmed up - you won't regret it)!

Love this place. It caters for vegans, vegetarians, coeliacs and omnivores so is excellent for my family. I can't go past their Key Lime Pie in a Cup! Excellent coffee too. Yesterday i had the Veggie Scramble with Hash Brown and a glass.of Tempranillo. All outstanding. As is the service. Our waiter was wonderful. Good value too. Mad if you don't go!

Super friendly staff, amazing food and really cute cafe! Definitely recommend to everyone! You won't regret it :)

Almost 5 stars... need a second visit and if the friendly staff and great food happens again it would be five. Definitely come again, My 13 Ye old had the Acai bowl, awesome, I had the gnocchi, loved it. The others enjoyed as much and will come back with us. The lady who looked after us was so lovely. After my daughters 35km walk was so nice for her to sit on the comfy couch and relax. See you again soon

The coffee at Leroy Espresso Bar is certainly the best that I have had in St Kilda. The cafe has a great atmosphere and the food is delicious. At times service has been slow especially to the outside seating area. Despite this I will continue to return. I feel that this is a cafe built for people who love coffee and food. It is a great place to come if you are a local and I don't feel like this is a place designed to serve only the tourists.

Always great specials, great value and my favourite breakfast that I've found in Australia! Topped off by the most wonderful staff who I'm sure will be seeing me many many more times!

We had breakfast at Leroys expresso and we were very impressed with your menu and service . Not what we thought it would be - very friendly staff and upbeat atmosphere . Next time we are in Melbourne we'll be dropping by ...

Incredibly upsetting to discover today that the muffins advertised as 'made with stevia' on the menu are actually made with sugar. This could actually hurt the health of some people that are not aware. Makes me think that none of their food can be trusted and I am highly disappointed, especially since I used to come here so often. I never write reviews but I felt this was important. Badly managed.
Rosalind Thieme
Excellent food and coffee. Staff are friendly, sometimes inexperienced as the pool they are drawn from are students and travellers. However, they pay proper wages and penalty rates and support local food producers and charities. What’s not to like?
Larissa Paige
After an initial issue, the owner promptly got in contact with me to resolve the problem. Very friendly and great owner.
Fern Elton
Staff are extremely friendly and lovely, We told the girl serving us what we felt like, and when our breakfast came out that she picked was definitely what we were both after, which also kept us full literally all day and night👌🏻. The music was funky and definitely what you want to hear on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Seems like a happy work place. We will definitely be back and might make it a regular thing.
Bambú Yubari
Friendly staff, amazing vegan cakes and multiple food options that suits all tastes and special diets .

Even after grabbing a small takeaway with only 3/4th cup of milk Coffee was quite.weak and tasteless.

Not worth the price.
Ashleigh Michelle
Didn't want to score this low, but I don't think Leroy deserves any more than this. The coffee was fine, but that's about as far as it goes for me.

We ordered a muffin for takeaway, which had a sign saying it was a gluten free berry and choc muffin. But it definitely wasn't! It was completely plain, there was nothing in the muffin (no flavour). It was extremely dry to the point it was hard to eat. Would never trust their muffins on display again.

I've also had brunch here on another occasion. I ordered the waffles which were ok, a bit plain and not sweet enough.

Overall, there's better options in the area for sure.
Tony Thompson
The service here is a big problem. No one seems to know which table they are serving and when that is the case, mistakes are made. For example, today my lunch never appeared and I had to go to a long meeting, STARVING! I like this place but they need to get it together. St Kilda is the big league for cafes. If Leroi's is going to go all Fawlty Towers, there will be a great position on Ackland St for lease very soon. Watch this space.

Located on the corner of Acland st and Barkly st in St Kilda, Leroy espresso is trendy modern cafe with high quality food. I turned up early to brunch with a couple of friends on a cold Saturday morning and unfortunately couldn’t get a table inside. I offered to wait as my friends hadn’t arrived anyway and the waitress said she had to go and check. Not sure what she was checking but she never came back as I waited outside in the cold (the outdoor heaters were unfortunately not on). One of my friends soon arrived and we asked another waitress for a table who seated us a two seater inside while we waited for a 3 seater to become available (only another 2 minutes). Much happier with this waitress who served us attentively for the rest of the time. This could have been 5 stars if not for the lack of communication at my arrival. Food was spot on and well presented. Coffee was smooth. Cute flowers on the tables.

Great tap water. Really refreshing. Hydrating. Effervescent. It cleared my eczema. Alleviated my depression. Mended my relationship with my father.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
It was a Sunday afternoon. In the heart of amazing st kilda. Is this nice busy cafe.

We walked in they asked if we needed menus. I said no we are only having coffee. We had mocha. It was amazing.

Can’t wait to come try there food :-)

Staff are on the ball and very polite and attentive! Can’t wait to go back

Banana Caramel Buttermilk Pancakes 🍯
.
☑ 7/10! Gorgeous soft, fluffy and light pancakes! They were so well done! 🙌🏽 Caramelized Banana 🍌 had a great sweet kick to it and did its job on the sweet side! 🍯 I was let down by the lack of marscapone cream tho! 🥞 would have LOVED more, to balance off the sweet bananas and add some creamy goodness to the pancakes 😍 ended up a little dry 😔 great all day breakfast spot in sunny st kilda ☉ good breakfast, exceptional coffee with a warm vibe from its unique decor! 👌🏽
.
.
💡 TIP - when you order this dish ask them for a decent amount of that marscapone! 😋 also get around their coffee, cakes and caramel slice! 😉
Bonkers
Unfortunately my coffee today was not great, ordered a skinny Capp and it was overly milky. When you pay top tier price you expect the quality to be the same. I don’t think this is a bad reflection on the cafe just that they appeared to be under staffed during the coffee rush in the morning which resulted in a bad experience.

Well known amongst the locals in St Kilda, this cafe boasts a very trendy interior which is exactly the vibe you get from St Kilda. I decided to order their waffles and a latte. Waffles were tasty and presented well, however the icecream didn't seem to gel when combined with all the elements of the dish.

This place is okay. You’ll get an okay brunch, it’s not what I would call a proper Melbourne brunch. I have my standards now for what dishes should look like and the standards that I set for atmosphere, service, food, cleanliness etc. And this place kinda just ticked the okay boxes on those categories.

The food was good but it wasn’t spectacular. It didn’t change my world and I probably wouldn’t rush back just because I know there are millions of places doing just that little bit extra. They added edible flowers to eggs on toast which I didn’t think was necessary at all. And it added nothing to the dish.

Don’t get me wrong staff are quality and the place is good but it’s just not the brunch I’m looking for in Melbourne.

Walked in for lunch during St kilda fest. They had lunch and drinks specials (2 kinds of pasta or burgers $15). I ordered the provincial and glass of house white.
The sauce was nice and creamy well seasoned came with a piece of turkish bread. Egg was nicely done.
But the bacon was little disappointing. It was cut up into little pieces and because of the size they lost flavour and was hard and dry. But other it was good.
friendly attentive staff ✅
Also like how they donate to the local community (some info I read in the bathroom)✅
Service was good and staff were friendly. Location is convenient as public transport is near and in a popular area. Ice coffee was good but the waffle was average as it was amazing but it was disappointing.

Not too shabby!

This place was almost at the other end of St. Kilda beach so it was a nice walk!

I went in hopes that I could get a smoothie bowl... but apparently they ran out and my second option was to get the baked eggs buuut they ran out of that too ._. Also, at first when I walked in there was a sign that said they weren’t serving coffee but luckily I came in time for the machine to be back up and running!

I ordered the ‘Waffle We Do Now’ and my friend ordered the ‘Bagel Delight’. She had tea and I had an Iced Skinny Latte. For a guilt free waffle, I have to admit that it’s pretty damn good! The ice cream was amazing as well! And the berry compote was made from stevia!! So it’s super guilt free for us (trying to) dieters! The Bagel Delight was great too and it was so good I ended up switching my dish! Didn’t realise I was in such a savoury mood 🙊

The coffee and tea was so-so. Nothing really to shout about.

The service was adequate too but the hygiene of the cups for the water was kinda gross bc we saw lipstick stains on it. Uhhh...

The food was good! The only down side was just the lack of a few dishes and them still putting it on the menu :/

I've been to Leroy Espresso a couple of times now. I first went with a Groupon but returned and paid full price because the food was delicious. Both times I had the fritters.

Their chai lattes and coffees are delicious and I love the fact that they are sweetened naturally.

Leroy Esprosso is fantastic at catering for food intolerances. Their menu sets out which foods contain gluten, dairy, are paleo etc. Awesome!

The staff are very friendly but my only complaint is that they are quite slow. Both times I got fed up with waiting and walked to the counter to order. Both of my visits were mid-week and the cafe was not very busy.
Carisse Matthews
I’ve visited Leroy briefly twice. Although the staff are friendly, they got my order incorrect on both occasions. Coffee is reasonable. Will probably be back but only for it’s convenient location. Certainly won’t be rushing.

I had an iced long black and it was the one of best I tried in st kilda area :) nice vibe, awesome staff, and good location. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is I just waited for like 20 mins 😅😂
Linda
A cafe that is slightly dated in all respects - design and menu selection. The coffee and food was done to a respectable standard. Lacking in creativity, but generous in serving and hearty in old school flavours. Not blown away, but not disappointed either. Mostly brought upon nostalgia if anything!
Quince And Cheese
New favourite vegan brunch destination 💕 The gluten-free, animal product-free waffles are bomb. They're nice and soft and not gummy like lots of other vegan waffles tend to be. But even better is that they're fruit compote topping is sweetened with Stevia! Never have I seen Stevia mentioned on a restaurant menu until Leroy. So impressed by this. Their vegan ice cream is free of added sugars as well, and sweetened with dates, but you'd never know it. Also tried the corn fritters, which feature a delicious Stevia-sweetened tomato relish. Coffee is really nice, although it took a long time to come out (arrived after food did although they were ordered together). Despite service being a bit slow, staff were really nice, retro vibe is super charming and menu is a huge pull. Already planning my next trip to SK to visit again.

I‘ve been there two times. Once for breakfast and the second time for an early dinner. I had the Leroy Parma Parmigiana for dinner and a Roasted Chicken and Avocado Ciabatta for breakfast. Both was average but didn’t taste good enough to go back there. The coffee is good, but the staff wasn’t really attentive. They were busy chatting behind the bar.
Foodie
Ordered the vegetarian lentil burger with sweet potato chips. The sweet potato chips were delicious but it was such a tiny portion, and no dipping sauce. The burger was literally a veggie patty in Turkish bread with some rocket however and was pretty dry and boring, definitely not worth the 15 bucks for such small portions. Staff were lovely though

I’ve not been here for ages but its as good as I remember. Friendly staff, colourful fit out and good honest food. Plenty of vegetarian options. Banana and coconut flour waffle with ice cream was delicious but I could have done with another waffle - one left me wanting more and hungry after only an hour. Companion had the omelette and was very satisfied.

Excellent coffee!!! Barista was very caring and professional. French Omelette with Salmon was delicious but I had to grab the menu myself and order at the counter. Floor staff were nice but a little bit spacey with awareness of service, probably just undertrained or inexperienced with waiting tables....
Jayde
We were incredibly disappointed in the Mediterranean ciabatta today. I have never in my life seen a chef so stingy with vegetables. It was no joke filled with about 80% spinach with a couple of mushrooms and one piece of capsicum on a small roll for $15... outrageous. Wish I had taken a photo. We told the waiter this when he asked how it was, he was apologetic yet we continued to be charged for it full price.. what's the point of asking how it is then? Wont be back, coffee was pretty good though.

We chose to eat here purely based on the amount of sunshine we could get on a Melbourne cold morning. I love a good amount of chilli on my smashed avo. The eggs were cooked well. The staff were personable. I like it. The chai was a special blend, very aromatic.

A friend and I stumbled across this place for lunch today and it was yum! Didn’t have to wait to long for food which is very good and service was very friendly!
Gabby Payne
This place is so great! I walked in with a friend and were given menus straight away and shown to a table and given water! The menu was large and had heaps and heaps of different options. I chose the harissa spiced chicken wrap and it was so yummy for such a simple dish and it wasn’t to big or small! the food came out very fast and the staff were so friendly! I would 100% recommend!
Anlansdown
Was served completely raw baked eggs, that I couldn’t eat.... was told by one of the staff that that’s ‘gross’ and she ‘hates it when that happens’ but then was told it’s normal and next thing I’m paying for my meal. Terrible customer service, won’t be back.
Ramp It Up
Wheelchair accessible outdoors only. No accessible bathroom. Only a minor step to get inside. Doable for a manual chair. Electric chairs would manage with a small ramp.

We went here for take away coffee and a toasted sandwich and couldn't complain.

Outdoor seating available.

Came to Leroy Espresso with my partner for Brunch yesterday. We sat inside after being told to take any table we wanted. We were ignored for quite a while by the staff though, and even people who sat down after us were served before us. We ordered our coffee and food all at once, when we were finally served, but no one came to bring us any water and we had to ask.
The coffee was decent and he food was good, though. Josh had the corn fritters and I had the BELTAA, although I swapped the Turkish bread for multigrain.
Marcel Lanster
Customer service was fantastic! Coffee is consistently perfect at Leroy Espresso, luckily I work next door so I can come grab a few a day. Parma is incredible and a great portion size!
Nick Kendall
Quality cafe that uses Sensory Lab beans. Barista knew what he was doing although the milk was a little cool. Had the key lime pie with my coffee which was great! Not too heavy, and lots of good nuts and fiber 😊👌🏼

Service was slow, we didn't get menus (we shared a single one between 3 people that we found ourselves). Our coffees didn't come until we almost finished our food. We saw someone leave because they were waiting so long to be served. But the smashed avo was one of the best we've had and the coffee was good - put the hot sauce on the smashed avo! Yum! Friend also said the waffles were really good

Sundays are never the same without Leroy breakfast 😍😍😍 love everything in the menu except for the paleo waffle i tried one time. Will still continue to go weekly for my berry pancake / eggs benny fix 😍😍😍😃😃😃

Serpisnya bagus banget, anak ane lari2 kayak rumah sendiri. Manteb dahhhh

A quaint little coffee place tucked away at the end of Acland street near St.Kilda beach is the perfect stop for an early morning coffee. The interiors are very cute and what grabs your attention is a bright yellow La Marzocco coffee machine. A few tables outside under the parasol make it a perfect setting as you sip on some really lovely cappuccinos and lattes. They have variants made with soy and almond milk which are equally interesting however people flock this place to have their long black full of flavour and cappuccinos.
I chose to have a medium sized cappuccino( also available in little and large sizes!). The flavour, aroma and intensity was spot on however since I wanted it to be extra hot, the barista was kind enough to make me a new one since steaming it would spoil the taste.
The interiors are rustic and the inside seating area is warm and cozy.. just another excuse to sip more
coffee.
A must visit place for caffeine lovers and early starters!!
Nay Nay
The location of this cafe is perfect. Acland street St Kilda. You can get a seat right by the street so that its open. You get the sun and fresh breeze. Its a rustic style cafe and was right at home. The coffee was amazing. Perfectly made and tasted great. Ordered an acai bowl I was a little disappointed was it was running. Presentation was good could have been better. Was'nt the best Acai bowl I had. Still loved the vibe and customer service.
Clair
Fresh juices and coffee are some of the best in St Kilda 👍🏻 outside seating with shelter also a plus. Lovely staff always service with a smile.

Love trumps hate for this
Transpacific partnership
Bagel with avo

[Is it a bagel? Is it a bene? Who knows? And more importantly... Does anyone really care?]

Between 3 and 3.5 for me. I thought the chai was really good, so thumbs up there. Staff were friendly. However, was really disappointed to see an iced mocha come out in a normal sized glass for $8. I normally prefer the smaller, "latte on ice" style to big sundae glasses with ice cream, straws and chocolate sprinkes, but I think if you're charging double the price then it's reasonable to expect more than a small glass of the exact same drink just with ice cubes.
IloveMelbourne
This is a great cafe with amazing staff. All are so friendly and helpful. Love coming here.
I had the corn and zucchini fritters which were flavourful and filling. My almond latte was yum too.

Love love loveeeeee the huge variety this place has to offer!!! Vegan, vegetarian & meat/seafood dishes makes it a place where everyone can enjoy a feed. Perfect location for post or pre beach sesh 👌🏽👌🏽

Nice location and set up. Service quality wasn't all that great, inconsistent throughout the staff. We got our food before our drinks. I ordered a smoothie which came as I finished my meal, that wasn't all that good either. Happy with the second waitress who looked after us, she was much more considerate and apologetic about the delay with our drinks. Portion sizes weren't all too big but the food wasn't all bad. Would recommend getting a bowl of chips tho.

I don't normally venture south to St Kilda but when I do, I always make sure to visit Leroy. Top notch service, awesome coffee and delicious food (that corn bread, OMG!). Keep it up, Leroy! I will see you again soon ;)

Great coffee and food. Very friendly staff.. The best cafe on Acland street hands down. Fresh juices and smoothies are amazing. Would highly recommend!!

Details: I think the main thing I like about this place is the location and the deco/vibes. I enjoyed the sweet potato fries and calamari with my boyfriend today! Really liked the way they cooked the calamari, lightly fried, nice and juicy!

Service: wasn't too happy tbh... partner only had approximately 1/4 of juice in his $10 smoothie so had to ask for more (pretty ridiculous). My berry one was really tasty though.
Katelyn
Food was nice, however service was appalling. The waitress did not remember our drink order correctly, and English breakfast tea took around 10minutes to arrive. Cappuccino was very milky, and had no chocolate on top. Smoothie was great, and iced latte was also good. Food was tasty, however the ham and cheese toasted sandwich did not arrive with our other meals, and had to ask the waitress where it was. The sandwich was very small, and the waitress did not apologise for late food and drinks. Service and coffee was poor, food was nice.
Hungry Ronin
Great little corner cafe. Service is prompt and friendly. Coffee beans by Steadfast is executed well. The wrap I had was good, with flavourful chicken and crunchy roti. The myriad of juices were also agreeable, with the green goblin quite refreshing.

Went there for lunch on Sunday afternoon. Service was amazing and quick even though it was busy at restaurant ! I had veggie scramble which was fantastic !!!! Definitely a good choice in St Kilda

This is my favourite lunch venue on Acland Street! The new renovations look fantastic and I absolutely love the paleo options on the menu. Today I had the super green paleo salad with spiced harissa chicken. Also a massive fan of the crispy wild salmon salad served with rocket, red onion, tomato, cucumber, pomegranate, melon and sesame dressing. The staff are always helpful and friendly. One very happy customer!!!
Jessica Watts
I went in this morning, and whilst the service was friendly I found the food to be bland and the coffee to be weak and a little on the cold side rather than warm to hot. I had scrambled eggs with mushrooms, the eggs needed a lot of salt and pepper to bring any flavour to the plate and the mushrooms were soggy as thought they'd been soaked for days in, I don't know what. I also asked for multigrain bread but got sourdough instead, but that's ok these things happen, I've done it myself. I've had good food experiences here in the past but not today, I may not have left this review had the staff asked me how my meal was or asked me for another coffee when they came to collect my empty plate and cup, but they did not. I've worked in hospitality for 10 years, even if you don't want to hear the answer of how the food was or you can't be bothered running another coffee over, it's just good business to do both.

Stkilda institution been here forever
Was just after a. Quick lunch
Had a coffee aswell coffee was very nice indeed
The girls working there are really friendly and give good service.
Had the Blt burger it was good pretty tasty but maybe needed more relish !
The menu is basically full of crowd pleasers
So can't go wrong.
Not to many healthy options tho so that area can be improved.
Prices a little high aswell
But not a bad joint !!

Great coffee and brunch. Very friendly staff who are keen to assist you with any request. I had their Bloody Mary and their sandwich, very generous portions too.

Great coffee and lovely , friendly atmosphere. They have a great selection including veggie and gf options. They also have an all day breakfast menu and fresh juices which I think is a nice touch.
Steph
This was my first time and definitely will be a regular. Great coffee. The ambiance was cosy & inviting. The waitstaff were very friendly. Highly recommended.

Breakfast burrito was amazing! Also the staff were so friendly and helpful with my major life crisis of pancakes or burrito. Thank god for LeeRoy Espresso staff!
Late For Woodstock
Had breakfast here last Saturday, of course, Acland street/ St Kilda was already "buzzing". Leroys had the same vibe! Had a great rustic feel about the place & the staff were super friendly & attentive!!. Everything about the place was great, from it's decore, alfresco dining & eclectic/ rustic menu. The COFFEE was GREAT & so was the Café Latte (probably the best I have ever had). Food portions were so generous (I actually couldn't finish all of my meal) & the prices are VERY reasonable. I also went to Leroy's for the Friday FUNK night. The place was packed, the band was tight & the place was buzzing! In my opinion, the best café on Ackland street & the best location for alfresco dining & people watching !
Mikayla Green
Seriously disappoint with the breakfast. Could have made better myself and not have to pay the $18 for half of what I would get at another cafe. As for the quality of ingredients I could get better feta at Coles.
Fatman FEED Me
Been going here since 2009, very popular cyclist stop, outdoor relaxed area easy coffee window to street and clearly
Staff love their job! Total acland institution great day cafe
Well done

We can not thank the owners & staff at Leroy enough for the fantastic service, food and hospitality shown to us for our sons 1st birthday brunch held last weekend. Beautiful cafe, we had around 30 ppl attend, food was delish, prompt, well priced and a good size serving! Our little boy even received a present from the owners as is customary in there family! These days things like this are unheard of. Thank you Leroy

One of the better cafes on Acland street. Great spot to sit outside and as you probably know Acland street is usually has a few characters!
Jesse
Friendly and enthusiastic staff who were very attentive. It is a wonderful little cafe with a great atmosphere. Food was excellent and came quickly. Overall very happy and will be returning!
Mary
Nice coffee and lovely strawberry coconut smoothie. Good, friendly and quick service. Saw a waiter move tables together for a group of people without them asking which was nice. Guys that serve me are always so nice and friendly. Gluten free muffins are delicious. Cool place.
Yvesi
I love sitting outside Leroys with a coffee and watching the world whizz by on Acland St. The coffee is always excellent. I like mine with the activated almond milk - devine! There are plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options here :)
Hooray4bread
Eclectic interior design belies some really nice authentic cafe grub. I had Leroy's cornbread brekkie, best cornbread ever! My wife's corn fritters were excellent but should try sauce on the side, they're good by themselves. Minor gripe, we had both meals minus bacon but still charged at list price, how does that work? Coffee was excellent, with atomic crema!

Was a little dissapointed, was super keen to grab some lunch and coffee, was a fairly quiet time, not busy when we went in. Sat and waited a good 15 mins without being served so we got up and got lunch elsewhere.

lovely place at the corner of Barkly and Acland Streets ... service was efficient and friendly ... they were willing to swap eggs with mushrooms which is a great help as I generally don't like eggs for breakfast ... coffee was awesome and Bagel Delight was good
Greeny Girl
Went out for brecky with a few friends. The whole menu sounded appealing but i thought i would try something a bit different from the typical egg or porridge selections. I ordered the vegan starter brecky and all i can say is it was incredible! It came with a delicious chickpea patty, smashed avo, homemade baked beans and grilled mushrooms. The flavours came together so nicely! My friends were really happy also. definitely will be back! :)

Never had an experience like this in my life!
Tried to order a takeaway coffee for my mum. Asked for sugar stick because I wasn't sure how much she wanted. The guy blatantly said 'we don't do sugar' ... Ok fine, no sugar sticks, I understand. Then he shows me a jug with raw sugar in it. That's fine, I say. He then told me that we don't need sugar and proceeded to make the coffee. At this point I think it's one of those jokes about how good his coffee is. Watch him make the coffee and he hasn't put sugar in it, so I ask AGAIN! Gives an annoyed sigh, slams the sugar mug on the bench and scoops about a table spoon full of sugar (obviously mocking me at this point). Not that much please, I say. 'Seriously?!' He says, clearly annoyed!!!! Um, I'm paying YOU to make ME a coffee!! Tbh if it was for me I wouldn't have asked for sugar after he made such a fuss, but it was for my mum, so I had to be more particular. Such an arrogant jerk! Heads up to the owner, it was the guy with the hipster beard. It sounds like your staff have a lot of attitude from other reviews as well, and the coffee isn't gods gift either. And golden rule working in hospitality, if you've had a shit day don't bring your attitude to work and the customer is always right!

have been a few times and although it is basic food, it is generally pretty tasty. The staff are the issue, after forgetting half our order we asked one of the staff members (american girl, brunette) for clarification, she went off. Made us feel like we were totally in the wrong and had such a bad attituide. Same girl on another occasion, brought over the wrong coffee, when asking about it her response "well what do you want me to do about it" .. Unsure if she had another "bad day" or treats all customers like this.. wont be back

What's happened to the coffee ? Suddenly it's no good ?? Was one of the better coffees around st kilda . Now it's not . Only gone off in the last week or so

Great coffee. Happy, smiling staff. Will be back to try breakfast very soon.

Only downside was the (I assume) owner outside whinging about the rent. Customers don't care and customers don't want to hear it.

Early arrival to St Kilda and we were starving!
Stumbled Upon Leroy and decided we'd try it as it had plenty of Gluten Free options.

Corn Bread dish was delicious, eggs were perfect, coffee was good! Perfect when you're famished and need a big yummy breaky.

Leroy Espresso had been recommended to us by a few friends and didn't disappoint. Loved the interior especially the exposed brick wall.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.

What we ordered: Eggs Benedict & Full Breakfast - only thing left on our plate was some spinach but we claim we got too much.

Delicious breakfast and healthy smoothies. Great atmosphere. Staff very attentive and friendly. My partner places the egg Benedict as one of the best she's had.

Great Polenta Chips. I have been to Leroy's every time I have been to Melbourne. We stay in Elwood, so it is very convenient. 1st time I went there saw Polenta chips on menu which I love & not many places do them, they were very good. Staff are friendly, prices are reasonable (we are from Perth so not familiar with a lot of places). Only complaint is cutlery not laid out properly but that is just me being old school. Great job, keep it up & look forward to coming back.

Best Coffee in St Kilda!!!. Come here religiously every morning to get amazing coffee - wouldn't start my day any other way! Staff are super friendly and always service with a smile. Great place to enjoy a lazy weekend brunch - delicious, fresh food and a chilled out atmosphere.

Perfect morning ritual. I visit leroys every morning before work and it's always a good way to start my day with great coffee and super cute barristas. Can't go a morning without it!

The staff are as hot as the coffee. Best coffee on Acland St!
Fantastic customer service and a great little brunch spot.

Great Cafe. I visit Leroy on a regular basis. The food is always good and also great value. They have a decent menu selection with lots of little extras like organic options.
Coffee is good but highly recommend a Soy Chai with Honey, best I have had yet.

Great coffee and great service. Love this cafe as a local it's open early and the staff are good, so I can grab a coffee on the morning dog walk before the work day starts. Almond milk and Soy coffees are great here and I love that they cater for all types of coffee drinkers!

Corn Fritters, best thing I've ever tasted...and that's 100% true. You can tell its house made. Not sure about the previous review because I'm at Leroy once a week. Always spot on. It's easy to just whinge and criticise but I'll tell you they rarely get anything wrong.

It was a miserable Saturday morning, the wind had a chill in it, the sky was grey and it was drizzling.. My friend and I were on the hunt for a good porridge and I remember reading a piece on the homemade porridges at Leroy Espresso in St Kilda. As soon as we stepped in, the cosy warmth hit us and we both knew we had come to the right place. Perusing the menu, I couldn't help being side tracked away from ordering the porridge as the breakfast list was impressive and prices were reasonable. I stuck to my guns though and we both ordered the porridge with bananas and cinnamon. The porridge was thick and creamy and we added some skinny milk and a few spoonfuls of brown sugar to enhance the sweetness. I had the small which was a generous serving. My pregnant friend had the large bowl, she was eating for 2! The porridge definitely hit the spot and my friend and I have already planned our next visit there.

Leroy Espresso offers friendly service, great coffee and yummy food. I am soo not, never have been, trendy/hippy/alternative/bohemian/cool enough for the St Kilda crowd, but I find Leroy to be refreshingly attitude-free. It used to be my family's regular

Better than the urbanspoon rating would imply.. Dropped in here to have brunch today for the first time. 1pm on a Sunday, quite a few people lunching but still got a table easily. Calamari salad was really tasty, and the beef burger was huge and looked awesome. I got burger envy even though I was happy with my own dish. Will be coming back :)

On the fence about this one. Service neither bad nor good - maybe 5/10, coffee pulling a solid 6.5.

Expensive. Just paid 17.50 for a toasted sandwitch

Fantastic coffee, beautiful breakfast and wonderful service. Came with family. Very laid back atmosphere but surprisingly fast service. Coffee was beautiful and all the breakfasts we got were wonderful. Pretty good value for money also. Very very pleased and highly recommend it :)

Leroy is back. About time Leroy!!! Service has picked up. Food is amazing. Menu is interesting and well thought. You finally have vegan options and the paleo salad was fricken awesome. Please keep it up, I want to keep coming back. It was good to see you guys busy and pumping again.

Breakfast with Leroy. Maybe it was the great company, but I thoroughly enjoyed my Saturday morning spent at Leroy's (enough to write a review nearly a week later!).
Although I waited a little too long for a skinny capp, Leroy's redeemed itself by serving a fabulous rendition of smashed avo; my poached eggs ran perfectly and the serving size was generous.
I was surrounded by a very relaxed vibe, ideal for a non-morning person, as well as comforting staff from vast ends of the globe.

Quite evidently a much-loved local hangout, and for very good reason.
Thanks Leroy's, I'll be back!
Emma
Terrible service. Waitress was talking to a coworker for 10 minutes before asking us what we would like to eat. I ordered bacon and eggs and the eggs had no flavour at all, even after applying salt and pepper twice! I'd go as far as to say they're the worst eggs I've ever had. Partner had lentil burger and he said his was bland. Nobody checked with us to see how our food was after we ate nor did they clear our plates after we waited for 10 minutes after eating.
The best part of the restaurant was the coffee, although that could have been hotter. Wouldn't go back to eat here again. Very disappointing.

It's been along time coming and a lot of disappointing breakfasts and then there was Leroy's! The coffees Devine and the food is hearty! In this case appearances are deceiving. Worth more than one visit.
Walkywalks
I waited at the coffee window for 5 minutes without service or acknowledgement. I went inside and lined up in the queue for 5 minutes, once at the front I ordered 3 coffees and they sent me back outside to the window to order.. I asked if someone could come and serve me at the window quite sincerely when the rude young male waitress (ha!) chimed in from behind me in a rude tone "can't you see we're busy?". I was previously a regular customer of aprox $50 a week, it has been 27 weeks since my last visit ($1350) and counting.. The cafe 50 meters away is now $1350 richer and counting!!

Coffee's no good. Had a latte here. Quality /taste was bad.

Coffee itself was very weak. Milk wasn't properly frothed, maybe had not reached the right temperature.
Cludedohr
Wow how things have changed!!! Went here around 10.30 and felt like an inconvenience to the wait staff. Coffee was ok but nothing to rave about. Had to get my own menu although I was told it’s table service. No water served or offered and although order was written up it was incomplete. I loved this place 2-3 years ago- might avoid it now until they improve.

Good coffee, good food and service with a smile. Would come back again.
