This place is an absolute institution. I came here for the first time in 2009 and returned recently, and I'm sure it's only become better. The waiter was kind enough to offer a small change to a pizza to make it vegetarian for my friend, and both the napolitana and funghi were incredible. Not too doughy, a generous amount of toppings and just the right size. We ordered a bottle of bubbles and another drink each, and the bill came to $120 for the two of us. Not too bad at all for a lovely afternoon out.
Family friendly venue with a spacious layout. I had the calabrese pizza which was very nice. Nice and friendly service. The wooden chairs could do with an upgrade as they are a little small and uncomfortable.
Yum! Calabrese and capriciosa pizzas were delicious. Large enough to share but you probably wouldn't want to. Menu is quite simple but that's not a bad thing. The tiramisu was good, heavy on the coffee flavour. Served in a coffee cup so you don't get much.

Mr Wolf is a St Kilda pizza institution. Located in a perfect spot on Inkerman St just near Barkly, Twosheds’ clan has been coming here for years for the outstanding pizza. We rate this one of the best pizza joints in Melbourne. The pizzas are thin crusted - in true Italian style - and innovative. There are the classics on offer - think cappricciosa and margherita - but also the daily specials which are magnificent. We had asparagus, artichoke and prosciutto with a light Italian cheese (not a tomato based pizza) and it was just sublime. For those who don’t eat pizza, there are a variety of other Italian inspired dishes which are also beautifully executed. The wine list is also fantastic - lots of Italian delights here: we had a Pinot and a Nero d’Avola. The staff are fantastic. You won’t regret trying this place.

Staff here are friendly and attentive.
or atleast the time we went there was.
plenty of items in the menu and plenty of alcohol,
good local place to sit/dine/drink.
pity they close early
I gave them a 4 due to the outside seating made us felt cramped and exposed
Been looking for a good pizza place in Melbourne away from Carlton and stumbled across this one. Amazing pizza and worth the visit. Service is friendly and helpful. Food is fresh and yummy. Margherita is my favourite
Ordered mains (pizzas) and deserts. The pizzas are probably one of the best i have had in Melbourne (with Il Forno in Hampton) but you certainly pay for the privilege.... very expensive for a pizza. The deserts were certainly a good size portion for what you payed (I had a semifredo) and were nice but i would not go overboard. Only reason I could not score higher was due to very very slow service (had to prompt waiters a few times) and the cost of the food.
Came in for a late lunch on a Sunday and was surprised to see it wasn't busy. Service was friendly and the food was good. Calamari fritte was a little bland but the warm octopus was great! My favourite was probably the eggplant fritte. Delicious.
I thought it was odd that they set the table with cloth napkins but then have the cutlery in a paper pocket on top.... However, table setting choices aside, we had a good lunch.
Friday was no ordinary day at the office. My workplace allows each employee two paid days to volunteer and my team chose to do this together in St. Kilda so I found myself out of the office and Southside. What a big adventure!. We broke for lunch at 12 and given it wasn't my 'hood, we relied on team members whose 'hood it is for a lunch plan and one was made very quickly and efficiently. A phone call was made whilst we were en route and we were told they would have a table for the 10 of us. As we arrived they were just unlocking the doors!

With a craving for pizza, I sniffed out Mr Wolf, which offers over a dozen possible, authentic pizza topping decisions. I opted for a delicious combo of tomato, mozzarella, parmigiano, salami, peppers, olives and chilli.
Unpretentious and simple, it is a great place to bring kids. However, If sans kids, definitely ask to be seated in the bar area next door – it’s has a great vibe.
Lovely 3 course dinner, generous portion size . Full flavoured well balanced unpretentious food in a relaxed casual setting. Pleasant staff 😊
Best pizza in Melbourne! Great kids menu. Terrific wine list. Wonderful friendly service. Definitely order the Cabbage, Pea, Parmigiana, Mint, Radish, Chili salad - it is to die for!
Great food, be cautious about using the UberEATS App.
After several attempts ordering food via UE it's not a good service, painfully slow and food arrives cold (third time).
The UE drivers have all been terrible. Either late, complaining they couldn't find my address, not delivering to your door and bringing food that's cold.
The App itself isn't accurate. You get a notification saying the driver is on the way and that wasn't correct. Last night Mr Wolf restaurant that's less than 2km, took 25 mins to arrive from that push post to say it's on its way.
If you can battle your way through UE App to make a complaint, the support team are ignorant 'thanks for your patience & understanding, here's a voucher on your next order'.
Restaurant reputations are compromised and customers have other/better options for food delivery.
Mr. Wolf is definitely a family friendly restaurant (to confirm this by anecdote - as we were seated at our table a young gent sat at the next, audibly masticating on his pizza) and I think we were the only table without kids. We started with the picked veges, carpaccio and octopus and each dish was great. The provencial pizza was great also (I particularly liked the anchovies). The staff were professional and friendly.
On a wet and windy Melbourne evening, Mr Wolf came along to fix our dinner dilemma.
Simple and effective Mr Wolf looked and felt like a family friendly spot in St Kilda, with (lo and behold) a kid friendly menu, the effectiveness of which was clearly in evidence with a large number of mini-diners!
Some standard choices of Pizza, as befitted our simple food leanings, were served with prompt and friendly service and both quite delicious.
The prosciutto on the No 9 was quite salty and the Cablese lacked much of a punch with the chilli, but two very serviceable pizzas.
The family atmosphere would draw me back with my mini-reviewers, and certainly a very sensible choice for a simple pizza and beer menu. Lots of advertised specials such as BYO nights to tempt the cost conscious back.
Worth a visit – take the kids.
If you're looking for a kid friendly restaurant this is it. WOW. When we walked in just before 5 pm there was only one other occupied table. By the time we left I'd say the restaurant was half full and we were the only table without kids! Never seen anything like it (don't have kids)! Incredibly, the kids were all well behaved although we didn't stick around for that long. We ordered a couple of pizzas (Broccolini and Calbrese) and although dining partner commented that they were very salty (and not enough basil), neither of us had any problem finishing every last bite. There was no shortage of blue cheese in the broccolini, happy days! I eat pizza possibly once every two years so likely won't be back soon but through no fault of the restaurant! I was wearing active wear so quickly checked I wasn't too casual and was made to feel very welcome. Good service, good serving time, no faults.
Delicious pizza made with fine ingredients.
Happy to alter flavours. Although delicious I found the pizza slightly smaller then other pizzerias. My pizza was cooked to perfection though. I will definitely return and recommend. Thanks you !
We booked the private cellar room for a special occasion and had the very good set menu. The staff were faultless coping very well with celiac dietary requirements and were attentive but unobtrusive. The food was very good and was not just pizza and we all agreed we would go there again especially for a function.
If you haven't tried it we recommend that you do.
Have been hear countless times over the years and is like an old favorite we always come back to a few times a year. The pizzas are consistently above average, as is the service.
Mr Wolf recently hosted an intimate lunch for about 25 close family and friends to celebrate my son's Christening. For $40 per person, the food was plentiful and of a great quality. The wait staff were also friendly and helpful throughout. Couldn't recommend Mr Wolf more highly.
service was efficient and friendly ... my dinner companion had the chicken schnitzel and I had the minute steak ... his schnitzel was good but my steak could've been done with more flavours ... overall it was an okay dining experience ... we would've stayed for dessert as the ambience was nice but I didn't want to take a risk after my steak
My family went to Mr Wolf a couple of months ago after looking for a restaurant that would be kid-friendly as opposed to just kid tolerant. Excellent ambience and could not fault the service. Even though Mr Wolf is good for kids, don't assume it's a bistro with sticky tables and wayward brats; that isn't the case at all. Children loved their meals, in particular the lasagne, which my daughter insisted I replicate at home. She has since been disappointed. My whole fish (not on the standard menu) was cooked close to perfection, the flesh falling from the bone and only very slightly dry, although I'm really nit picking. The accompanying salsa verde was, to my taste, an unusual flavour but complemented the rest of the dish beautifully. We didn't try a pizza, so can't comment on those, but the rest of the menu did seem slightly limited, although the prices were acceptable considering the food/service. Given the standard of what we ordered, I still think there's enough there for most people to find something appealing. Looking forward to our next Mr Wolf visit!
Dropped in for dinner service very good and attentive meals were reasonably priced and good servings. Meat in Lasagne seemed a little scarce and only came with bread, Schnitzel came with a very tasty coleslaw, side green leaf salad was excellent. Well worth a visit!

great tasty food, with unusual flavor and great service, and a happy environment/atmosphere, came here and definitely was not disappointed, great service and decor the food is really amazing what more could you ask for??? i will be back very soon
Consistently great for takeaway, dinner for 2, a group or early kids meal. Love the food quality. Keep up the great work! Staff super friendly, service is good.
Fabulous pizza and outstanding salads... The gluten free base, in particular, was perfectly balanced and cooked..... The toppings were unique and most satisfying... Bravo!!!
Most definitely my favourite pizza restaurant in the south! Great pizzas, thin crust and top quality toppings. Also love their salads and other alternate dishes
Came here to try the pizza, didn't realise they had such a selection of craft beers, my night was sorted! The pizza was pretty good too. Cheers
A very small menu, but what is on offer is very well done. I had the schnitzel with coleslaw- it was to die for! Hubby had a pizza which was divine. A friend had the lasagna which she said was nice. Certainly not a cheap dining experience but I suppose that is what you pay in this area.
Just look at that lamb! You could smell the smokey aromas as Karen carved up meat and served the table. Slow cooked for hours, the lamb was tender and juicy that just fell apart with a slight touch of the fork. The garlic yoghurt it was served with really hit the spot with a strong bite and creamy texture. This was accompanied by a side called 'horta' - blanched greens, dressed in olive oil, mixed with barley and topped off with barley and toasted almonds. Packed full of flavour and refreshingly cleansing.
It's hard to say whether my heart was singing due to eating melted mozzarella and juicy pancetta - foods I've been resisting of late - or because I had the rare pleasure of walking into a restaurant to find my smiling beloved waiting.
Mr. Wolf is - and has been for years - one of St Kilda's hottest spots. The restaurant is always packed. The pizzas have a very thin base - not as crispy as from a wood fire oven - but very smooth and moist. We ordered a few pizzas to share: Funghi pizza - porcini, roasted garlic paste, roasted mushrooms, mozzarella, thyme ($21) Funghi pizza tasted really good. I loved the fresh thyme, but felt they could have used a bit more mozzarella (or spread it more evenly through the pizza). Melanzane pizza - tomato, roasted eggplant, ricotta, fior de latte , chilli and basil ($20.50) The melanzane (or eggplant) pizza was my favourite. Lots of mozzarella ( fior de latte - made from fresh milk) on this one, crispy eggpl
Had dinner with some cousins on Sat night. Service was attentive but almost pushy with our waiter hovering to collect the pizza pans even though slices remained. We had to tell him twice we needed more time and weren't quite finished. Venue itself is inviting & pizza was tasty. Eggplant starter was nice as well as the calamari but nothing outstanding. Would visit again but not in a hurry.
Great service and seriously the best meatballs I've had in a long time. The only ones I can compare to my moms. Awesome!
Found a little slice of pizza heaven. They snuck us in on a cold saturday evening - and then we were greeted by pur hostess with the mostest Lizzy. We enjoyed some great woodfired pizza chased by some granita lemony cocktails and fabulous semi freddo dessert. Thanks to the entire Wolfpack for looking after us
Impeccable service and good food. Had a nice evening!
Despite being in one of Melbourne's busiest dining precincts Mr Wolf is indeed a civilised experience. I was there last Sat night and despite being standing room only, the noise levels for a restaurant of this type were quite subdued. The service was impeccable and the food fresh & quick to arrange. I opted for the veal ragout Lasagne which was magnifique. Mr Wolf isn't cheap, but it's not ridiculous either given the quality. $50 will just about get you 2 courses and a beer. Or if you're well healed you could let loose with their extensive wine list. Highly recommended
One of my fav restaurants! Can't go wrong
Saved!!. I ate here a while back and it was definitely great! Great food and service. However my review is also based on how lovely the manager is, my car broke down on Inkerman street and he gave up his time to help me and push it into a park. He also wanted to make sure I was alright and he was just a genuine and kind, helpful person. I used to be a waitress and when the manager is kind then you know the staff are being treated well also and I think that's really important.
Dinner with friends, and we've been wanting to try Mr Wokf out. A great night! Casual yet elegant, just noisy enough to have a buzz but quiet enough to talk easily. Fun menu and great service and, oh - the food was magnificent. Definitely recommended and on the "will return" list!
Awesome pizza and pasta. Service lovely. Great selection of beers. We had a really good night.
Absolutely overpriced and rubbish service. Can't get an order correct. Go somewhere else.
Spotless first time!. Came for a late seating so we got to have the bar almost to ourselves; a pleasant atmosphere and ambiance compared to restaurant. tick.
Entre of grilled zuchini was divine...esp. the spicy avo ganache.
Came here tonight for my birthday we didn't have a booking but the staff were friendly and accommodating finding a table for us to dine. Food was simple and delish with quality ingredients. I think its wonderful to come to a nice restaurant where they don't mind having children of all ages a very rare find.
Great service, good pizza, excellent salad.
I love this place. The food is consistently excellent whether it's pizza or something else and the service has always been outstanding whether you're in the bar or restaurant. Last night we visited for 'gnocchi night' and it was nothing less than delicious - soft pillowy dumplings served with tomato Sufi, Italian sausage and peas! Great place for dinner or just for drinks and their cocktail menu is a knockout.
It's ALL about the cabbage salad. That cabbage salad has become a favourite in our house, I make it all the time. Karen Martini once offered it up in Gourmet Traveller. Also, her gluten free bases are thin, crusty and delicious...they don't fall apart when you pick up a slice of pizza, really, that's all I want. I love her food and the menu. I do have the same issue as a previous reviewer about not being able to change the ingredients on the pizza. I am in and out of vegetarianism and feel that it would be great if I could take off meat on some of the pizza menu and replace with a veg. Anyway, the menu is what it is, you don't have to order from there.
Lovely Dinner!!. Went last night and didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly suprised. Ambience was really nice, pizza's were delicious! We loved the starter pizza of smashed olives and ricotta. OMG! Great place to catch up with friends and wasn't too pricey. Will definitely go again!
Lovely lunch. Prawn pizza was delicious, so were eggplant chips. Lasagne didn't have a lot of meat but was very tasty and filling.
Eggplant pizza was least favourite thing ordered... A bit too plain.
Service was perfect.
It wasn't cheap but overall definitely worth it!
Will definitely return!
Good spot. Not cheap but the pizzas are huge serves, and the food is really tasty! Great service and impressive wine list. Good night out with friends
Best pizza!. Had the best pizza at Mr wolf! my partner who is fussy even ate there also,
would highly recommend for good quality delicious food without being to fancy.
Favorite pizza place ever! Can't go wrong with anything off the menu and the restaurant it self is full of character
*****. My favourite restaurant for a special occasion in Melbourne. The pizza is absolutely delicious, especially the Patate pizza and the Prawn.
Best pizzas. Awesome pizzas, gorgeous decor - i just wish they were open for lunch every day!
This place is consistently awesome. A St Kilda institution. Pizzas are amazing but the wet dishes are always fantastic too. I love to eat in the side bar but the dinning room is best for a larger group.
Still Undecided..... I have been here a few times and the service has always been bittersweet... I went a week ago and the food was great, service was bad, the time before the food was bad yet the service was great!
I really dislike being told I can't change anything on the menu.. I had the Potato pizza and really love basil, so asked instead of rosemary if I could have basil the waiter looked at me like crap and said 'No, the Chef won't allow that as it has rosemary and NOT basil as per the menu says" Um what? swapping a herb is a faux pas?? sorry your chef is a child and thinks he invented the potato pizza which has been around for centuries!
Pepperoni pizza is amazing, along with the drinks and wine. The venue is also very loud. So loud you have to scream....!
Great service, great food, excellent cocktail menu and brilliant service. Reasonably priced and they even had designer hand wash in the bathroom! Great music and an all round laid back funky friendly vibe. We'll be back!
One of the best pizza places I have ever been. The Pizza Margherita is a must-try from Mr Wolf’s kitchen. Coming back again soon 👍🏻
The food is amazing- actually amazing! So flavoursome. Service was great also. Served by a lovely gentleman who was very helpful and genuine. But the food is honestly sensational. Pizza and pasta both were some of the best we’ve had. Do yourself a favour and enjoy the best of Italian comfort food at this place!
This is the best place where you can buy pizza at its best. Best pizza I’ve taste so far. Awesome crust with great tasting and fresh ingredients. The staff are incredible and doing an amazing job!
Hello Lockdown 5.0!!😭😭
Can’t believe just last week we were strolling down St Kilda beach and then stopped by @mrwolf_stkilda for an amazing date night!💗
Started off with some beautiful wine and their Polpette which was absolutely divine.
Veal and pork meatballs dunked in a delicious tomato sugo.
And then attacked their Funghi Pizza and Salsicce Pizza🍕🍕
The Funghi had to be our favourite! I loved the way they treated mushrooms in different ways. That Porcini paste was yum!!
Sad to see so many businesses having to shut again but these guys are still open for takeaway and delivery so please do support them!!
Highly recommend!
Legit best pizza I've had in a long time. So good.
Don’t believe the review that complains about the new owners, yeah there new owners but the menu, the chef is all the same as before, the best pizza in the area by far, friendly wait staff, nice salads too, also the owners are lovely people, was nice to chat with one of them as I waited.
Amazing Romana style pizzas. Crispy crust. Delicious toppings. Great service.
$15 pizzas on Wednesday nights! Bargain price for such amazing pizza
Truly staggering pizzas.
I ordered the special, which you'll see in photo two, and I am crippled by anxiety that I may never be able to taste it again.
The staff are friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is filled with light. It's a St Kilda institution.
