Review Mya Tiger - St Kilda

Jordan Oliva
As a last minute booking, my partner and myself could not have been more pleased with the experience we had at Mya Tiger. The food was exquisite and the waitress (Radhika) was attentive, friendly, kind and very knowledgeable on the food. Our favourite menu items were: The lamb spring rolls Typhoon shelter tofu Mushroom dumplings Salt and pepper calamari Duck fried rice. I've attached photos of the food below Thank you for an incredible lunch and we will be back with family and friends

Been here a few times now and always impressive. Clever Asian fusion food that is always great. The spicy pork chilli wontons are an absolute must have. The scallops are too heavy in batter for our liking, however overall we love coming back to Mya Tiger and backed up by friendly, knowledgeable service and a good wine list. A must go Melbourne foodie spot in my opinion.

Yummy, yummy... Such a delicious meals, great customer service with authentic Chinese environment. The food arrived faster than fast food restaurants and I was surprised that everything was really nice and precisely prepared. Highly recommended for everyone!

The food - I can't even. So delicious!! And the decor, my goodness, its incredible. You must go and experience this gem of a place above the Espy in St Kilda. Outstanding!!

Firstly an amazing change to the Espy - the renovations on the whole building is spectacular - Mya Tiger has a great choice of Cantonese style food - love the little fortune cookie already set up on the table - had a range of dishes which were all very good - perhaps on the chicken ribs they needed a bit of sauce or salsa on the side - also the bao buns were tasty but again lacking a little flavour - loved the dumplings and the fried wonton - the lamb spring rolls were excellent!

Exquisite, authentic and divine. Thanking Isobella and Radhika for our warm welcome each time we've entered our new favourite establishment, where the dumplings are to die for! What can be said other than must experience! Stunning views, decadent decor, comfortable and tasteful seating with exceptional service and mouthwatering everything. Evidently the menu has been created with care and food made with pure love. Thanks for having us. Ps we love your music 🎶

All I can say is the food is spectacular! You must give it a try . Lovely location , good selection of wines. Staff were attentive and helpful. Only one issue , sadly the sitting was for 1hr and 45 minutes and were unable to take our remaining wine onto the bar.. hopefully in the future this may change .. a little longer please please !

Came here for my birthday dinner, after only experiencing a soft opening and limited menu when the Espy first opened in December last year.

Mya Tiger is a great Modern Cantonese restaurant and a quieter place to eat away from the noisy other dining areas and 12 bars on offer in this revamped mega venue.
Now to the food: the menu isn’t extensive but has all the usual offerings- dumplings, spring rolls, noodles, pork both ways ( Char Sui and Crispy) Pepper Wagyu, Fried Flounder, Asian Greens and a few vegetarian options like Mapo Tofu.
The food isn’t cheap, and the servings aren’t huge, so come here with deep pockets and maybe order a few mains and Jasmine rice or go a main and an entree that you’re prepared to pay a bit more for.
The quality is there, rather than the quantity.

The cocktails and wine list is expansive - they do a mean Espresso Martini and Singapore Sling.
The staff are attentive and friendly- even if my Sticky Pork order was mistaken as a Crispy one- and the correct dish took an age to come, but that was the kitchen, not our charming waiters fault.
Would I come here again? Yes.
For a special occasion.

We were impressed by Mya Tiger which we chose for a catch up with old school friends. A lovely renovation here makes for an impressive modern space. Most importantly the food was very good. Modern Asian I’d call it. Someone else ordered and they did a very good job. What followed was a succession of very tasty small plates and there was ample good quality, nicely presented food. Best of all, it was delicious. Service was charming throughout. No attitude, just smiles, humor and helpfulness. At the end of the meal we were guided to an equally impressive upstairs bar and after a few drinks the night ended quietly. It’s a good place here. I’d come back anytime.

If you want stuck up pretentious service , then you’ve found the right place !!! There was no interest in providing good service, they spent the entire dinner reminding us that we needed to be gone by 9.30 as they had another booking after us
Food was ordinary and flavourless to say the least
Thanks but stick to being a pub

Mya Tiger is a Cantonese restaurant on the middle floor of @hotelesplanadestkilda by ex-Longrain chef Sarah Chan, is by far my fav venue of 2018. May Tiger has one of the best views in Melbourne looking out over the StKilda Esplanade, and offers some tasty Canto dishes that blew my mind. From the Pork Chilli Wontons, Crispy Pork Bao, Fried Green Beene with Chilli and Cashew and the 5-Spiced Chicken Ribs. Head down for some beers after work, and take a trip upstairs for some cocktails and Cantonese Classics. w/ @cob_____

Amazon food, amazing staff. There's a great variety of vegetarian options for my friends. The duck is amazing and juicy. Everything tonight was just perfect! Keep it up, guys!

What a great night at Mya tiger: great room, watched the sunset, service prompt and professional. EVERYTHING that came ot the table was delish : the prawns (even ate the shell), the duck pancakes, the salt and peper tofu ... the dumplings... well priced wine list. whats not to love?

Lots of hype about the Espy re-opening. I liked the renovation, it is a nice balance between the old and the new.

Mya Tiger, as a restaurant, was a disappointment though. Room is OK but I feel too much grunge left for eating room (not sure if the soy sauce splatter on the wall next to my leg was pre or post renovation).

The menu is simple and the food is OK but you can get the same at any one of a dozen places in Melbourne. The food is not going to bring you back to this place and this is where I think they have missed a trick. I can't see this restaurant being a place that you would eat at more than once.

We went to Mya Tiger for our wedding anniversary- after a drink downstairs in the public bar of the newly renovated Espy we went upstairs to the restaurant. The owners of the Espy have managed to renovate without the building losing any of its charm. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The waiter was great, very relaxed and willing to chat.

Amazing from start to finish. We booked to dine here for our anniversary and they made us feel special the moment we arrived. The meals were prepared to perfection and the waitress Isabel helped to recommend perfect combinations. The wontons were a stand out but every dish we tried was yummy, fresh and value for money. We tried a few cocktails and they were fab. Highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back. The views are spectacular as well by the way.

Nice atmosphere and decor. The sauces are flavoursome and delicate, particularly the dumpling sauce is a real standard. The snapper fish was definitely a highlight.
Finger Lickin
Walking in through the main entrance to the espy I was excited. The old ritz and glamour was back. The grand staircase, the hostesses greeting us and giving us directions. It was tick tick tick all the way to the table in the restaurant. Things started to go down hill from there. The waiter was overwhelmed- not her fault. The place was busy and seemingly understaffed. We ordered drinks and they took a good 20 min to come out. I pushed on and tried to keep an open mind. From there the starters were good without being great. The duck was a little dry for my liking. I think I’m being a little harsh on this place cause it has the potential to be great and so I’m going to put it all down to teething problems and will give it another go soon cause it’s such a great venue.
Good Food Good Mood
We went to Mya Tiger last night and waited an hour for a table. This was well worth the wait, the food was phenomenal and I absolutely adored the ambiance. They have clearly taken exceptional care with this renovation to ensure consistency with the original space, the carpets are the memorable original, the paintwork is perfectly distressed and there are plenty of stunning antiques on show to add to its historical charm.

Even the bathrooms were breathtaking and keeping with the theme. The ladies powder room space was so unbelievably beautiful I could have moved in. There’s even another cocktail bar upstairs which is a new area on show to the public previously occupied by an arts patron in the 19th century, how cool is that!

Our only hiccup here was service. Our original waiter was possibly the rudest person is hospitality. He was so hostile and unhelpful that we were actually interrupted by another staff member who took over taking our order. Full credit to her she was absolutely delightful and very attentive all evening but it didn’t quite shake the blight of our early interaction.

Food wise the cumin spring rolls were the highlight but I also loved the black pepper wagyu beef. The duck noodles had excellent flavour too. The only thing that wasn’t as good as I expected it to be was the honey caramel eggplant. To me the batter ratios were entirely off and the eggplant was completely lost. This would have been better as a sauce on unbreaded eggplant.

A fabulous evening overall which would have been a well deserved 5 had it not been for the waiter
