Came here for my birthday dinner, after only experiencing a soft opening and limited menu when the Espy first opened in December last year.
Mya Tiger is a great Modern Cantonese restaurant and a quieter place to eat away from the noisy other dining areas and 12 bars on offer in this revamped mega venue.
Now to the food: the menu isn’t extensive but has all the usual offerings- dumplings, spring rolls, noodles, pork both ways ( Char Sui and Crispy) Pepper Wagyu, Fried Flounder, Asian Greens and a few vegetarian options like Mapo Tofu.
The food isn’t cheap, and the servings aren’t huge, so come here with deep pockets and maybe order a few mains and Jasmine rice or go a main and an entree that you’re prepared to pay a bit more for.
The quality is there, rather than the quantity.
The cocktails and wine list is expansive - they do a mean Espresso Martini and Singapore Sling.
The staff are attentive and friendly- even if my Sticky Pork order was mistaken as a Crispy one- and the correct dish took an age to come, but that was the kitchen, not our charming waiters fault.
Would I come here again? Yes.
For a special occasion.
We were impressed by Mya Tiger which we chose for a catch up with old school friends. A lovely renovation here makes for an impressive modern space. Most importantly the food was very good. Modern Asian I’d call it. Someone else ordered and they did a very good job. What followed was a succession of very tasty small plates and there was ample good quality, nicely presented food. Best of all, it was delicious. Service was charming throughout. No attitude, just smiles, humor and helpfulness. At the end of the meal we were guided to an equally impressive upstairs bar and after a few drinks the night ended quietly. It’s a good place here. I’d come back anytime.

Mya Tiger is a Cantonese restaurant on the middle floor of @hotelesplanadestkilda by ex-Longrain chef Sarah Chan, is by far my fav venue of 2018. May Tiger has one of the best views in Melbourne looking out over the StKilda Esplanade, and offers some tasty Canto dishes that blew my mind. From the Pork Chilli Wontons, Crispy Pork Bao, Fried Green Beene with Chilli and Cashew and the 5-Spiced Chicken Ribs. Head down for some beers after work, and take a trip upstairs for some cocktails and Cantonese Classics. w/ @cob_____
