This is a great bar that we (locals) didn't know existed until it was reviewed in Broadsheet.
Friday's they do mates rates and cheese plates and it was great. The drinks were reasonably priced but the cheese, dips, olives, bread, etc. were fabulous and complimentary. It's only on 5-7 but well worth it and the owner is lovely.
This little gem is a real favourite for me and my boyfriend! The food is great; small bites and a few bigger plates that are perfect to share over a glass of wine or a cheeky cocktail. Our favourites are the nduja, croquettes, saganaki and cauliflower tempura. The cheese boards are also a great option. Food and drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Special shoutout to the owner, who is lovely and always good for a food or drink recommendation, we like coming in and saying hi! This place is perfect for a casual date night, brunch with friends, or late afternoon drinks with some yummy bites, we'll definitely be regulars!
Had the salmon bagel and it was just ok. Severely lacking in ricotta, I mean it was spread on like I spread vegemite on toast, very minimal. Decent serving size though since I ordered it with avo on the side.
Wife ordered some kind of unappetizing looking salad, but that's more down to her choice so I won't judge there.
Other reviews seem a little too good & I'm a bit sceptical, unless we just happened to order the worst dishes.

What a treat to dine as guests of XM4 last night. This is a seriously slick space with interiors like a Pinterest board and a beautifully well stocked bar. It’s also a place with heart where locals can linger over a cheeseboard with a few cheeky cocktails. The name XM4 has a family connection to owner Claire’s grandfather and is a bit cool and different, much like the venue itself.
We started with a few unique beverages one of which the Americano was a chilli twist on an aperol spritz. The drinks menu doesn’t seem to be listed on zomato but it’s quite extensive and if you aren’t game on the more creative ones and generally stick to the basics (like me) there’s plenty of crowd pleasers available too like a classic pimms and the like.
We started with some hot food and enjoyed the cheddar Mac and cheese croquettes, cauliflower tempura, saganaki and slow roasts pumpkin with feta, walnuts and pepitas. I love that three out of these four dishes had cheese incorporated and in the case of the saganaki the cheese was the star of the show.
This led us perfectly into our cheeseboard the option here being to customise your own with a selection of artisan cheeses from the resplendent counter. We went with recommendations and were delighted with what we received in particular a super creamy local cheese which was utterly sensational. Cheeses depend on what’s best available at the market which means you can continue to make delicious new discoveries with each visit. Oh and they serve brunch in the mornings too 🧀🧀🧀
We went to XM4 on a Saturday evening with no booking. We walked in and got a table straight away, it was a cute intimate setting with mood lighting. We thoroughly enjoyed! Service was attentive and our waitress made a few cheese suggestions that I later completely fell in love with! There is a fair bit of choice with the menu, from warm shared plates or cheese boards to a wide range of wines and cocktails. We selected a cheese and meat board, which was only $30 with some prosecco. I ended up falling in love with the cheese so much that I walked out with a full wheel of it for only $22. Prices were cheap for the servings we got. XM4 also do $55 cheeseboards and Prosecco on Sunday’s, only cheaper and better than milk the cow. I would highly recommend!
Great food & coffee , beautiful cozy atmosphere, as if you're home, very friendly staff and excellent music to enjoy over coffee or lunch! Definitely recommend :)
Close and local, awesome lunch/brunch options and a intimate lovely spot for late night tapas and drinks. Cheese 👍🏽 wines 👍🏽 cocktails 👍🏽

So I was going to meet friends and walked past this little gem and thought I'd stop for a quick drink as I had a bit of time to spare.
This place has has a great selection of beers that I'm a HUGE fan of, not to mention some tasty wines. I chose a platter of cheese and cold cuts which was enough for two but I'm a foodie deep down and didn't complain.
The staff where super nice and felt like I was at a friend's place for dinner so I enjoyed it very much.
Would ask that everyone have a quick stop there for some drinks and the breakfast menu looks great also.
Also the Copper bar looks great and that neon sign is a cool touch also.

Had heard positive reviews about these guys so had to pop in. Ordered the new tasting board and loved it! Followed the team's suggestions and matched it with a Canberra Sangiovese.
How did I not find out about this place earlier? I am blown away by the experience I just had at XM4. So good for a snack or a to take a girl out and show her a bit of class. I had a cheese board with some wine (Trust Claire's recommendation!) and could not be happier. You're missing out if you don't go give it a try.
Absolutely loved this place. Food was to die for and so reasonable. Great wine and cheese selection. Staff are super friendly. Didn't try the cocktails but they looked great. Will definitely be going back to try them and all the other cheeses.

Great coffee, friendly staff-amaaaaazing cheese boards. I hired this space for a private function and the catering was outstanding.
The wine choice here is funky and delish. The lady there really knows her wine and helped me pick a few good choices. Omg I got to taste hummus and dhukah which was yum and also pate which was 5 star. This bar was relaxed, fun and very chilled... I loved it ❤️❤️
Beautiful food with nice selection of cheese and meat cuts as well as cocktails and drinks. Located off Carlisle st hence it's cozy atmosphere and yet still pretty accessible to visit. Would definitely come back for another visit !

Really relaxed atmosphere and great service. Also any place with the art of Kid A is great. Food and drinks are top quality. Great gem in St Kilda.
