Review Alrose Garden - Strathfield

Delightful hot pot on a cold winter's night. The soup was very flavoursome. Some of the add on ingredients are a tad over priced. $5 for a handful of shredded cheese, won't be adding that next time.

We always come by here when we want to eat pork schnitzel. Been here many years but the taste is still the best. Also I recomend beef bone stew and spicy cold noodle.

Yummy Korean food with fresh and delicious side dishes. Good place to chill out with friends.

I like their food but we saw many cockroaches on the wall... so left after the meal straight away. and saw a hair in my seafood noodle. A staff almost threw the side dishes at our table when we asked to refill them for us and didnt respond when we say thanks. Even refilled kimchi was frozen. they looked very grumpy. I was not happy with their customer service and hygiene. Yummy but thought it might be cause of cockroaches. Never go there again.

I’ve been here many times, always coming back with friends and making sure we at least order one dish of their signature schnitzel. Always done well, crispy and flaky. But I find it a bit pricey at $26-28 and +$2 for chips (instead of rice). The only thing missing here are side dishes! Only kimchi and pickled radish are usually served here.

I loved this place for years but they seem to have changed their flavours. Their sundubu now tastes like spicy water when it used to be my favourite. Also, I went and ordered a clam noodle soup yesterday--literally only three clams in the whole bowl. :(

Read quite a few reviews regarding their signature schnitzel. The schnitzel was light and flaky, but there wasnt too much meat on it. Also had their dumplings, and although the serving was quite large, I've had a little bit better elsewhere. The service was excellent and the premises clean.

Very good meat quality, and serves with purple rice. Good meal portion. Schnitzel bit pricy I feel, probably cause its famous for it. Customer service needs improvement, especially the English level of the waiters.

The staff here is real good. I ordered for their specialty dish and I was amazed to see the perfection they had put into making the schnitzel. It was real soft and crispy and forget oil, I coulnt just say it was fried at all. Really good place to have one!

3.5/5. Quite enjoyed the schnitzel here as it was nicely fried and not too oily. The dipping sauce and side dishes also helped to offset that heavy filling you get from eating too much fried food, which was an added bonus. Service was also really attentive and kind!

I'm giving 3 stars because of the lovely atmosphere and kind staff. The chicken schnitzel, on the other hand gave me food poisoning, which wasn't pleasant.

Best fried schnitzel on this side of town! Really satisfying golden crumb and not too oily!!! Cant wait to go back actually! Good service too.

I believe this place deserves a much higher rating because the food is great, it’s not pricey, the ambiance is great and there are many tables so you don’t have to wait. I came here with two of my friends and ordered the hot pot with cheese and oml it was probably one of the best things I’ve eaten this year. I am very keen on coming back on my birthday with more friends. Really recommend this restaurant. 5 Stars!!

Cause I can't give a 3.5, 4 * will be close enough.

Busy during dinner time even for a Tuesday, but we still got seated pretty fast.

The menu isn't too big.

Pretty much every table had a schnitzel ordered, so we did too. Unlucky for us the chicken was sold out so we ordered pork instead, $18.
It was nice and crispy and such a large portion. The sauce that comes with it is sweet and creamy.

I ordered the spicey seafood silken tofu soup and asked for it to be mild. The silken tofu is so smooth, just glides off your spoon. Texture-wise, it's nicer than the regular hard tofu in other soups.
Thoroughly enjoyed my soup as it had a good amount of seafood and tofu.

Nice, simples, easy dinner here. Definitely dining again

My favourite comfort food in Strathfield! Love their Bossam, Schnitzel and Army boy stew. Their kimchi is also the best kimchi I’ve had in Sydney! Highly recommend

Try out the chicken schnitzel here... serving size is huge and makes the dish worth it for the price. Service is great, staff are always friendly. The store is located across from strathfield plaza so parking is not a problem.

Came here for dinner after visiting BW's church as Strathfield is close by. This place is quite simple with not an extensive menu choice, and not many side dishes either. One thing I love about Korean food is all the side dishes. Clam hot noodle soup-$13. Decent amount of clams in these noodles, and the soup wasn't overly seasoned. There was actually quite a decent amount of noodles in the bowl and we couldn't finish it. It is a more healthier alternative for dinner out, compared to the next dish.

Ddeokbokki here is my go to order. It comes in a massive hot pot sized pan which cooks at your table. You can add extras to it (eg cheese, ramyun). The tonkatsu is also nice here.

Alrose garden is honestly my favourite restaurant in Strathfield - their katsu don even being stuffed with oozy cheese inside are to die for. The size of the katsu don is massive, and can be shared between two people. In general, the portion sizes of the dishes are massive and worth every cent. I don't have any negative towards the food. Service is a bit...they tend to treat Koreans better. When we entered no greeting whatsoever, just utter silence. I just felt a bit awkward? Of course I will continue to visit because of the food ^^

We had the cheese schnitzel and the chicken noodle soup. Cheese schnitzel was alright, not worth raving about. Chicken noodle soup had nice flavor and noodle texture was good.

Quick service and food was great... friendly helpful staff... always clean...great place to chill at any time of day. #cousinloveschickenschnitzel

What's with the low score? Bizarre considering Alrose is one of the most popular Korean restaurants in Strathfield if not all of Sydney. They're famous for their fried chicken, although their prices have gone up recently despite being the same size. The ddeokbokki hotpot is also nice and decently priced despite the rise in costs.

The Kimchi here is top notch. If you order anything with sides, always get a taste of kimchi here. It has a balanced sourness, spiciness and softness that suit my taste buds very well.
The port cutlet was done very well, good size, very crunchy and fresh. You know at once that this pork cutlet was deep fried and served to you fresh out of the deep frier.
The service was good, I guess it helps if you go with a korean friend who makes all the decisions and can speak fluent korean to the waiter/waitress

I've only ever ordered the chicken schnitzel from here as it's become a fast favourite for me and everyone I've brought here!

The chicken is sliced thin and covered in a light flakey batter that beats anywhere else. The serving size is huge as well! You get two large pieces of meat with rice, coleslaw and a super tasty sauce.

At $18 I always feel like I've got my money's worth whenever I visit. The girls here are super friendly as well! Always a pleasure coming here

Alrose Garden is an indecisive eater's best friend. The menu is not huge but they offer a broad range of dishes from schnitzels, noodle soups, hotpots, right through to bar snacks; and what they do offer, they are damn good at.

Pork and chicken schnitzels are what most people come for. Giant pieces of meat are flattened and coated in a katsu batter before taking a dive in the deep fryer. The result is a thin, flaky schnitzel with maximum crunch and no soggy fall-apart coating. Accompanying slaw and purple rice completes the meal at $16.

Compliment the schnitzel with a big bowl of noodles and dumplings in chicken soup ($14). This item used to be named 'homemade noodles' but I'm glad they have now changed the name as it certainly was not made in house. However, these are fresh packaged noodles so texturally there is a lot of bite and they do not lose out to any handmade noodles I've tasted.

Fried squid legs are also a great accompaniment to light Korean beer and the dumplings are thin sheets of dough encasing generous fillings. This place has never disappointed me and is my go-to restaurant when I simply cannot decide what to eat. The interior may be a bit outdated but their food is tried and trusted!

Yummy food. Decent price and decent service. I ordered the LUNCH bossom for one and wow the pork was cooked perfectly. I love how it was set up with little sides in the box. My bf ordered the beef ribs and that was yummy too. The rice was on point. The fried dumplings were ok. It's a pretty generous serving size (10 I think) we took that away because we were already full.

Korean food craving satisfied

Alrose cafe's infamous Tonkatsu Schnitzel coated with bread crumbs that just melts in your mouth with sweet tonkatsu sauce sided with rice and a coleslaw type salad. The pork was moist but the chicken was a bit dry, i highly recommend eating the chicken schnitzel with the kimchi side dish they give you
Let's Nomnom
Went here because my friend told me their tonkatsu is the best. It was a giant tonkatsu, thinly cut and coated in crunchy bread crumbs! Served with rice or chips for an extra few dollars, i'd say the tonkatsu sauce played a big part in giving out the flavours as the cutlets were quite tough, dry and quite bland when eaten on its own.

I had the pork schnitzel ($16) which was accompanied by rice, salad, their signature sauce and side dishes of kimchi and radish. They also have a variety soju flavours (citrus, peach and pomegranate) which can accompany the meal quite nicely ($12 per bottle). The staff were friendly and the food came very fast, good service and food overall.

Faced with 30 degree weather, we made that smart decision to eat Korean BBQ for lunch. Unfortunately KBBQ was only available for dinner (#BOO), so instead, we opted for Spicy Ddukbokki hotpot and Korean Fried Chicken with a side of Black Rice. Being a Korean restaurant we were supplied with banchan of kimchi (my favourite) and pickles. Ddukbokki Hotpot $20 Ddukbokki is a traditional Korean street food consisting of soft chewy rice cakes and fish cakes lathered with a thick chilli sauce. This hotpot had a generous amount of rice cake hidden below the ramen noodles just waiting to soak up that chilli. Once put to flame the pot quickly started bubbling away, while we sat their salivating and watching the noodles and red chilli paste melt into the pot. Nothing like a lunch of delicious liquid hot magma to cool off in those hotter summer months ay? The great part of this dish is that the chilli sauce isn't unbearably hot and rather than just adding heat to the dish it's also packed full of great savoury flavour that makes its way into all the other ingredients. Korean Fried Chicken $14 We ordered the medium Fried Chicken with the special chilli sauce on the side. The chicken was golden and oh-so-cripsy. There's really not much to say besides that this was damn good chicken and I would definitely come back for it. There's something about cooking your own food (and not having to wash the dishes after!) that makes a meal so much better! Overall, even though the dishes were shared between three people, we were stuffed and tempted to call for backup halfway. As well, there were other varieties of hotpots that we'll definitely be back for! Contributed by Katrina

Of course, they ordered the chicken schnitzel to start. After all, that’s what Alrose Garden is most famous for! For an additional two dollars, patrons can replace the bowl of rice with a side of crunchy fries. The chicken was massive, even larger than the chicken served at Hot Star! Definitely a meal you can share among 2+ people. Highlight was the side of tangy sauce and this addition really made the dish shine.

It’s got a nice cosy, youthful ambience to it, albeit I wished there was more, how do I put this, consistent customer service. You have a bell and you ring it when you want to order …..is that the charm? If you like listening to K-pop you should come here! As a non-kpop fan, I was forced to sit next to two who were….omg LOL ily you both!!!!!!!!!

The feeling you get when you rip off all the meat off a bone and the bone is then perfectly clean and smooth, so satisfying.

Fried chicken!! You have to get the extra sweet spicy sauce because it makes it taste much better. This fried chicken came with the usual pickled daikon (which I love) and the chicken was decent, though it's got nothing on NaruOne , I'm sorry. Just wasn't as juicy or succulent.

Alrose Garden is a nice place for a cheap feed (approx $40 for the three of us) and has hotpot and Korean BBQ on the menu too. As for Moochi..it's fun food.....

#kningjaeats spicy Korean feast. The first time I was introduced to their chicken schnitzel, I knew I would come back. For such a cheap deal the deliciously crunchy schnitzel meal with rice was enough to make my tummy happily bloated. I went back a second time and decided to try out the spicy hot pot and bwoy it was spicy! But this pot of goodness was filled with my favourite staple foods- instant noodles, sausage, boiled egg, sausage, ham, tofu and beans!!! YUMMM!!
Hhhhhhhhhhh
Food was great, but strange choice of dinnerware. I came here with a bunch of friends, only to be served our meals on plastic plates? and plastic forks and cups. Just a bit ridiculous seeing as we came to eat schnitzel. It was quite an up hill struggle to keep the food on our plastic plates and to cut it into pieces.

6/10. The place seemed quite small, but the interior design made it seem cosy and chill. They have a really small menu, little to choose from. Had a table for two, the waiter only served us two side dishes. Usually, at a korean restaurant you'd expect a variety of side dishes to brought out to you, but we only got offered kimchi and pickles, not sure if that's normal. The chicken schnitzel was so good though! I believe it's their signature dish according to the poster on their front door. Chicken was crispy and tender! It goes really well with the sauce that comes with the dish. Really enjoyed this meal, but wish there was more to choose from, will definitely come back for some more schnitzel!
