Went there for the first time to try the special menu with Brazilian dishes. Love it. Food was amazing. Place was clean and great environment. Staff was very polite and friendly.

first time coming here was 10:30pm. trying to find a pub open where can have a cold one after work and still chill. was impressed this place had music pumping, people dancing and energy still going.

Service was slow and lack luster. Guy made me wait at bar 10 mins while he collected plates and then he came back and served the new person who had just walked up. Looked at me like I had killed his mother when I said something. What bar owners have to teach staff is that if your not selling drinks your not making money OMG. We would have had more drinks if the experience was better. No way was I going back to that bar to hand over more money to such a sad sack server who clearly didn't want to serve anyone.

Went for a Saturday lunch, food was very disappointing. Food took ages to come out even though there was hardly anyone there. I had the wagyu beef burger and thre was way way too much mustard, surprise relish which wasn't listed on the menu, and the crispy bacon for $3 was definitely not close to crispy. My partner had the el diablo pizza that had a very soggy undercooked base and was not spicy. The venue itself was pretty good and drinks were good.
Matt Young
Nice open plan bar area great for functions. Private reservation room near rear of bar with gas fire place.
Marie Wang
Friendly staff and nice cocktail. Hot food very yum and oysters are fairly fresh. Spacious room with music picked by customers. Female toilet was a bit small.
Andrew McGregor
A modern bar with plenty of beer choices. Food was limited but a new menu was coming.
Melissa Westlake
I had a beautiful dinner with my colleagues from work and the food was really delicious, also the attention from the staff was very friendly and the cocktails were very beautiful.
Mintu Singh
The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly too. They were very welcoming and offered us with variety of drinks. The price was also very reasonable for the amount of food served. Definitely recommending my friends to this place. Thanks guys for making my special day more special. All the very best.

The food is hearty and delicious. Beauty for drinks, a bite and a catch up. Service is great and they often have specials on drinks and food. One of the better places in Subi to go for a quick fix and has a relaxed atmosphere.

Went to the The Village bar for lunch today, waited over 30 mins for our meal when I queried where our meal was one of the staff members said Oh we are checking your order history, umm yeah ok, 2 min later our meals arrived. Very ordinary to say the least. Wont be coming back here in a hurry.

Subiaco is full of hidden gems that are frequented by locals who I’m sure would like to keep their haunts under wraps. One of these local “secrets” is The Village Bar, which is owned by the same people as the fabulous Little Way in Nedlands. It doesn’t look very big from the outside, but it’s a bit of a tardis, with plenty of room inside.
Renato
Big and spacious bar with well priced, generous food servings. The pork sausages with mash and coleslaw/apple salad was delicious but maybe a little under seasoned. My friend's steak sandwich was also very good but the coleslaw was bland. Good beer selection but the staff were a bit glum.

Have been here twice, and both times the food has been terrible. A pizza was ordered to share by myself and a few friends, we asked for prosciutto on our margherita pizza a which was an additional 5 or 6 dollars (assumed it was going to be plentiful) - however, we received a burnt pizza with a square the size of a 5 cent coin of prosciutto on each piece. After showing one of the floor staff, they agreed and politely asked to take it back. When returned - 1 or two more pieces was added to the pizza, such a disgrace. Will never eat here again.

I was attracted to the deal the Village Bar had on, which saw us ordering cheeseburgers. I understand that it was a deal, but the burgers were a lot smaller than what I paid for, and I would be unsatisfied if I had paid the full price. The staff appeared to be nice though.

I've been here with large groups of friends a few times and have had an absolute ball. However a group of 10 of us met at the Village bar on Friday and it was SO disappointing. We were planning on having a few drinks then going to the restaurant side to eat dinner. We were in the bar side for maybe 20 minutes before the noise became too much. The venue was in no way packed but we could barely hear one another speak. Once we moved to the restaurant side we were momentarily happy. Then the music was turned up.. and up.. and up. It was about 8pm and it felt like we were in a night club. Unless you were sitting incredibly close to the person you were talking to, you couldn't hear anyone. Our group of 10 all felt this way and we ended up leaving about 9:30pm so as not to further strain our voices and hearing. Very disappointing!<br/><br/>Steak sandwich that I had was average. Someone in the group ordered popcorn chicken and the chicken was so overcooked it was chewy.

Great place for a Sunday lunch catch up. Plenty of parking near by and very spacious inside. Service: Nice, polite and friendly. Food: Good pub grub, big portions to keep you full for a while. Chips were addictive. Atmosphere: Great relaxed environment, very chilled out place. Will return if I'm ever in the area again.

A very popular spot for Friday lunch! My workmates booked the three tables at the back and this gave us some respite from the noisy crowd. <br/><br/>The steak sambo is always a winner with the gang although some of them found the medium rare steak a bit scary lol. I was happy as Larry as I like my steak sambo medium rare :-).<br/><br/>The prawn fettuccine looked good and the lad was certainly hoovering it down! No complaints received for the squid.

My partner and I went to dinner here before seeing a show at the Regal. The staff were very friendly, attentive & accommodating. We ate a pizza & salt & pepper calamari, both were delicious and reasonably priced. The $10 expresso martinis were a bonus too.. We'll definitely come back.
David
Fancy-ish pub fare at The Village. They have heaps of great beers, not on tap though, and some okay specials. We got a salad and pizza, but have also had burgers and pasta on prior occasions. Great local.
Melissa
Food was so delicious!!! Recommend the popcorn chicken and salt and pepper squid. Good for tapas nibbles. Tasty cocktails. Super friendly staff :)

Quick lunch date with wifey. Nice and cool on a warm Jan day. The place was very quiet before the return of the masses probably from next week onwards. Enjoyed Squid bites, Arancini, Dukkah Chicken, Battered Fish and coleslaw, and a side of well cooked, crispy beer battered fries 😍 Friendly service, well presented plates and reasonable prices add up to a good value for money venue. Will happily return.

Home of the happy hour for surrounding businesses. My ex's dads fav watering hole. Food is pretty good. Expensive for a pub - but is it a pub?!

After a late finishing Baseball game in Wembley on Sunday, the American and I decided to grab some dinner in Subiaco before starting the drive home. We were shocked to find that a lot of places in Subi were closed on Sunday evenings. Luckily, The Village Bar was open so we spontaneously popped in for a quick meal. While looking over the menu, we sipped on our wine and beer before heading back to the bar to place our food order.

The service from the workers were good and the food as well. The food took awhile but it didn't bother me so much. The lighting in the booth area could be brighter
Crispy
Steak Night<br/>1 1/2 inch thick tough steak with cold chips, $4 for a bowl of steamed green beans and $7 for an added 2 prawns. <br/><br/>Steak sandwich had the same size steak in between 2 thick piece's of bread and some cheese, tomato and onion.

Came here with a group of 10 and 2 kids on a Monday night. Table was set up nicely with two highchairs. The staff was very friendly and served us water as soon as we sit down, and keep refilling our water through out the night. Food is very nice, we all love the popcorn chicken and the seafood platter, good value of money. The fries is very yummy too. We will be back.
Robyn
I really can't fault The Village Bar. The food was quick, fresh and delicious. We had a group of 15 and they managed to bring out all food within a few minutes of each other. <br/><br/>$15 steak night is great value for money. Everything else is very reasonable. Portions are generous, and most couldn't finish their meals. I can't wait to go back for the set menu and quiz night.

I like this place. It's one the Subi work crew frequents a bit. Prawn pasta, pork belly and share plates were tasty. The decor is inviting and warm, and it's never so busy you can't hear yourself think. Pub food with good food, that's the village bar!
Nikki
This place is great for sharing food! Particularly for a long boozy lunch! I highly recommend the village plate and the popcorn chicken. Both are absolutely delicious. The place has such a laid back nature and is perfect for big groups. Love this place and we definitely be back soon!

Gluten free options available here and delicious! There aren't too many but you are guaranteed to have what's available and enjoy it! Have come here for office lunches and food is always served promptly and for a reasonable price.
Brussels Sprout
Unassuming frontage and vast interior. Well priced drink and reasonable food. Shame about the parking, it's a killer. Who wants to input your rego when it is pouring with rain?<br/><br/>Book club ladies liked the atmosphere but the parking has done us in. Moving on.....

Awesome venue, big & spacious, cool decor - the clear roof is a great touch. The staff are great - quick, polite & easy going. They did very well to handle the pre-footy rush and I appreciated the heads up to order quickly before it gets busy. <br/>And the food was generally yum. The poutine wasn't enough gravy compared to the poutine I expected (based on experience from Canada) and I think the Cajun Sandwich could do with less bacon and more pork belly (although a typical Cajun Sandwich would be chicken I thought). <br/>But the arancini were awesome! <br/>I'll be back definitely.
Yurieambo56
Disappointing. The food was very disappointing. Everything was too rich and oily. The pork belly was too dry so was arancini. The prawn pasta was so oily, the meat tasted like dog meat in the three little pigs penne with tomato sauce otherwise the salmon steak was good. I would personally go there just for drinks not for dinner. The service was good though and the sticky pudding dessert:)
Mtman
Great Pre-Footy Spot. The village bar is a great spot for pre-football food and drinks.<br/>The Butcher's Plate and Seafood Platter are both great share plates.<br/>The squid is always tender.<br/>The steak sandwich has a thick piece of steak, cooked to perfection.<br/>And the drinks menu is extensive.<br/><br/>Strongly recommended.
Juanita Toleman
Great experience - now a favourite of mine!. Balanced menu - great choices and always well cooked food - presented artistically and therefore appealing to the eyes prior to tasting which, to date, has not disappointed.<br/>Fabulous wine menu - good selection of interesting wines Australian, French and Italian. <br/>Knowledgeable staff who take ownership of any questions and problems. Staff interact well with patrons - smile, chatty and helpful!<br/>Kudos to Mike, Luke and team.
Rebecca Caceres
I have been hear twice and it's so good. The food is amazing. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!! Will be back.
Matteo Miceli
The place is awesome but beware if you enjoy eating the ice out of your glass they will steal it if you leave it out on the table
Alice
YES YES YES. Every time I come to the village bar, there is amazing service, delicious food, and real good vibes! Whether it's a family lunch, or drinks and nibbles with the girls, I always leave feeling immensely satisfied! I would definitely recommend the village bar to others! (It probably doesn't hurt that the male bar staff are very easy on the eyes - particularly the guy with the dark hair and moustache!)

Higher end pub food. As others have said, The Village Bar does standard pub food, but of a higher standard than you'll find at a suburban local. We visited on a quiet Tuesday evening, and the service was quick and attentive. <br/><br/>It's a large area, with a lot of feature brick, and a lot of tables, so I couldn't imagine it being difficult to get a table unless you're in a large group or it's a really busy night. <br/><br/>The food prices were a little on the higher side, but they did have a good selection of boutique beers on tap (like Feral and James Squire) and it is Subiaco after all. To compensate, the drinks were more reasonably priced than elsewhere and there was a range of daily food specials which sounded pretty good.
Ben Green
Great pub. Just a great pub - good selection of tap beer with regularly rotating guest beers and really nice food at reasonable prices. Service is always attentive and courteous. A regular visit for us, particularly during footy season.
FoodBean
Good food, good service, good pub. We'll definitely go to The Village Bar again. Excellent selection of beers and wines, great menu and food. They warned us before we ordered that the food would take half an hour as we had hit the busy time. Someone came to our table 20 minutes later to update us on progress. We appreciated that. The food was worth waiting for. Only one thing I would change - the buns for the sliders were that sweet, brioche-type bread. I prefer something like a sourdough or rye or focaccia. Not keen on the modern trend with sweet brioche. Other than that it was great and, for Perth, reasonably priced.

A good 'local' at last. Great service, good food and value for money.

I visited the village bar for the first time last night to attend their beer tasting function .To say I was impressed would be an understatement. We had a range of food tasting plates that were absolutely superb and way beyond the standard of normal pub food. The service was also exemplary.I think Subiaco finally has a real friendly Village Pub with great food.

Sunday Lunch Review. I came here with 2 girlfriends for lunch on Sunday afternoon and we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere very much! Unfortunately there isn't any outdoor seating for meals, however there are 2 large open windows with seating next to and also an outdoor sitting area for drinking. The bar staff were incredibly kind, well mannered, patient and efficient. We all ordered different cocktails with each one made beautifully. The mojiti was made using havana rum - which is in my opinion the greatest! I ordered a chicken burger which was absolutely stacked with stuff, it needed to be cut just to be consumed, making it a little off-putting. However it was still incredibly tasty, the chicken was grilled to perfection! My friends got a club sandwhich & beef skewers, both were impressed with their meals and left nothing on the plate. The atmosphere and lay out of the bar were incredibly with a lot of plants surrounding and a lot of natural light making it the perfect place to spend a sunny sunday afternoon. Service was spot on with the bar staff engaging in conversation and presenting themselves neatly. <br/>Overall I was very impressed with The Village Bar and won't hesitate in going back. I highly recommend a visit here, and the mojito's.
Trust Me
Finally a great local.... Kid friendly, lovely decor, good gastro pub food and friendly service. Love!!!

Finally - A great "Local". Finally the "local" we always wanted! We have been looking for a place to call our "local" for ages and this fits the bill perfectly. Great selection of beers, good menu with fantastic food, and all at very reasonable prices in a pleasant atmosphere.<br/>We had a couple of burgers - Beef and chicken, a risotto, and a Lemon Pepper Squid Salad. Everybody's meal was outstanding! Tasty, decent size portions and the best chips I've had in a long time.<br/>Along with the surprisingly good food, a quirky, but great selection of beers. Drinks not particularly cheap, but then it would be perfect. Close enough thanks!<br/>TVB is going to be seeing a lot of us from now!

Came here for friend's engagement on the weekend. Great location, plenty of parking space, great ambiance. Great selections of drink. But the best thing of all is the food. Just superb. Every single canapes is delicious from start to finish. There were mushroom and goats cheese crostini, arancini balls, pork slider, chicken skewers, lemon pepper squid, scallops spoon, pork belly spoon, sticky date pudding, chocolate brownie. Some of the best food I've tasted. Im not a pork kind, but that pork belly spoon and pork slider was just amazing. The chocolate brownie and sticky date were lovely too. I'd go back here to eat. The service werent the best. We didnt get served some of the food and had to chase a few. And we found one the lady directly avoid us to save the last pieces to the couple behind us. But the food is great so i'd still recomend it for people looking to hire function place.

Perfect. I love this place, good beer, good food and good service. Went on Thursday night, the $15 steak was excellent. <br/>Definitely will return to this restaurant to try the rest of the varied menu.

Thank you to all at the Village Bar for a fabulous evening Saturday 21/12/13. Second Christmas party we have had there and it is just first class all the way. Fantastic food, service and vibe. Thank you once again. Merry Christmas to you all from all at Kwikcut.

A reliable favourite, The Village was our go-to this evening following a particularly traumatising experience at another local restaurant. The atmosphere is always welcoming and relaxed, and the staff were very polite and helpful. While the menu doesn't have a huge range of options, those that are offered are very reasonably priced and great quality. We started with arancini, which were a perfect texture and quite morish. For mains we chose two meals; barramundi, which was very well cooked, moist and flaky, served on a beautiful creamy mash; and pork sausage on mash, which came with a buttery onion jus. These were both great meals, with large portion sizes (as well as a sneaky side of chips!). This place hasn't let us down once, and we will definitely be returning many times in the future.

Our favourite pub food. Delicious food, warm and knowledgable service, relaxed spacious surroundings, attractive wine list without nose-bleed mark-ups, diverse well-kept beers, very reasonable prices, easy parking even on a Saturday night. Even the bouncer is a polite lad. The cooking is very professional though it isn't adventurous. fresh, well-sourced ingredients are treated carefully, classic flavours are matched thoughtfully and dishes are presented with style. This place is a real winner.

Loved it. My husband and I had lunch there yesterday and were very impressed. The restaurant itself has a lovely feel and there's ample parking for $1.50 an hour right out the front. We had a lovely chat to the waitress and decided to share a few small dishes. We had duck spring rolls, chorizo and bread, scallops and chips. All the dishes were beautiful and it was more than enough for the two of us, the chips in particular were huge, with a delicious aioli. I guess the spring rolls could be considered a bit pricey, with 2 for $14, but they were quite big. I noticed that nearly all the mains were under $30, and there was an extensive selection so it seems very reasonable. They also advertised $10 pizzas on Tuesday nights and the waitress said kids eat free on Sunday evening. They also have a very impressive beer selection according to my beer fancying husband. We've already planned our next visit and I'd highly recommend a visit to anyone else.

This place does it right. We visited late arvo on a Sunday before a show at the Regal - and were very impressed with the food, decor, choice of drinks on tap and extremely welcoming and attentive staff. It's a relaxed atmosphere that is well suited to all types of people, and it somehow felt like our own private bar (they were playing so many of my favourite tunes) The venue is also laid out very well for functions.<br/><br/>The food was spot on - presentation, taste and overall quality was flawless. Try the ribs! Servings are a good size, and it was nice to go somewhere that looked like it might charge ridiculous prices for pub food, but then be pleasantly surprised when we paid the bill - $100 for two, which was 7 drinks between us, a massive cheese board, and two generous tapas dishes.<br/><br/>We'll be back again very soon.
Nerissa Rowe
Child friendly, good food and good service!. 3 dishes, including a seafood sharing platter, and every item perfect. We chose the village because of its high rating on here and because of the kids eat free on Sunday evenings deal....and we will be back because the food was excellent. We had the seafood sharer and ribs with slaw. The little one (who was provided with colouring in materials) had meatballs and chips...and even they were awesome!<br/><br/>Last but not least I have to mention the staff - both friendly and efficient.<br/><br/>This place knows how to do good gastro.
Food Rambo
I have been going to this great bar now for years. Since Luke and Mike took over the place it has been transformed into a welcoming waterhole. Jay and Mars are their glue. Food is damn good as well.
Miana
Yummy curry. Great atmosphere.<br/>Staff are very nice and the food is yummy. The $10 curry nights are a fave ;) the portions may look on the small side but it's plenty and the flavour is great!<br/><br/>Great place to catch up for a drink and nibbles too.
Rhiannon Ball
The food here is amazing! The staff are so fun and so friendly! Awesome place for a bite to eat and a catch up with mates!
Food Of Perth
Nice place!. Loved the atmosphere here, venue is rather large, my friends and I came here for dinner. Such a huge range of food to choose from, not just the usual pub food! I had the Chicken salad in yoghurt w/ avocado chunks, corn salsa & harissa creme.. to be honest it was a let down; the chicken was dry, literally 2 teaspoons of the corn salsa and I found 1 avocado "chunk" throughout the whole salad. However, one of my friends had the Local Fish & Chips in Honey Vodka Batter, Tartare Sauce, Roasted Garlic Aioli - sounded delicious, looked delicious and tasted delicious! <br/>I'll be back again to give The Village Bar another chance because the staff were welcoming and friendly and prices aren't too bad. <br/>Recommended.

Delicious Tapas & Tasty Poptails @ $10 !. Ordered heaps of small plates along with the tasting plate (a must!) Poptails are a good price at $10 each & pretty tasty! Great place to catch up with friends over drinks & nibbles..... Get the poutine (even if it's normal cheese it's still delicious!) My only whinge would be the music..... While we were there Will Smiths "getting jiggy with it" was played..... nuf said ;)
GavyGav Bellinger
Been here a couple of times and its been great. Get the meatballs!
Sarah Haynes
Daggy and nice.. I agree with other posititve reviews, but I think someone needs to point out that this place is cheesy (at least on the 2 Friday nights I've been in). The music is 80s and 90s pop mega mix, and there's some bad dancing and pick-ups aplenty. <br/><br/>That's fine, I have enjoyed the vibe for what it is, but I think prospective clients need to know that it has the potential to be kind of daggy (maybe it's more sophistocated at other times?).<br/><br/>We were perhaps not in the best position to judge - having had some gentle appetite stimulation before we arrived - but we completely demolished every part of our shared offerings between three.<br/><br/>And the bar staff were very helpful and made sure we got our order in before kitchen close.
Cameron Saunders
Woeful Cocktail. I must admit the place was quite busy so I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but I just have to hope they train their staff in the art of cocktail making. I ordered a dark and stormy expecting the usual delightful combination of ginger beer and dark bermuda rum but was instead greeted with an insipid, lime dominated concoction that was the worst cocktail I have ever had. I cannot comment on the food, and the beer prices were reasonable, but I just hope that this cocktail was a one off.
Tren
Great Food. Friendly place with a very mixed clientele. Headed down her on a Friday night for a drink and something to eat and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food for a "pub". While not true poutine (regular cheese instead of curds) it was still good and the tasting plate truly delicious. We'll be heading back here again!
Marnella
Nice. Went here for a quick lunch and drink prior to a footy game and really enjoyed it. <br/><br/>Staff all very pleasant and helpful, nice decor and good food.<br/><br/>Would definitely go again,

Delish!. We had dinner here on Saturday night before going to a show. The Village has a great fitout which gives a very laid back/comfy feel. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable and service was quick but we did have dinner at 6.30 so i would like to see what its like a little later in the night.<br/><br/>Lots to choose from on the menu, great mix of vegetarian and meat options. We dicided to pick a few small dishes and was all very tasty. Would recommend the arrancini. Everything is very well priced they also have a great selection of beverages. If your looking for a relaxed night out, a few drinks and dinner this is the place to come!
Amy
Lovely for lunch. I only went here for lunch during the week and we were the only people in the place! We ordered from the $15 lunch specials and my quiche was amazing! <br/>With gypsy cider on tap...I will be going back!
Zoe Louise
Fish & Chips. The fish and chips is a winner here everytime. I am not a fan of chips but the ones that they make here are to die for. A great place to have lunch with a friend or a meal straight after work.

Had my 30th here at the start of November. When we got here the girl introduced herself and showed us out area, she was very friendly and helpful. Canapés came out regularly and were very tasty and left no one hungry. The bar staff were also very friendly and not wanky like so many others in Perth. It's such a nice place with a great feel. Overall a sensational night and we regularly pop in for lunch and a pint. Well done guys, one of the nicest places in Perth :)

Great Steak, Great Staff. I've been here twice now, most recently for dinner last Saturday night. It's very nice inside, both times I've been it's been full enough to have a good atmosphere, but not overly crowded. Both times I've ordered the sirloin steak, which is only $25 and just as good as the $35 - $40 steaks I've had elsewhere in Perth. Staff are friendly and attentive, and the drinks are well priced too. They also let you split the bill, which is useful. All in all, this place is definitely worth a visit.
Storm
I've been here twice now the first for a birthday behind the curtain where we were looked after superbly, carpeted area turned into a dance floor late in the night. I would recomend this, and also the other day for tapas with a girlf, great service and for lunch was nice to have a pub atmosphere midweek in subi. Pricey tapas but more than plenty. Great pub feed with a smile
SweetestTooth
Yummy steak sandwhich!. Had the most amazing steak sandwhich. perfectly cooked, presented beautifully and nicely on the board and filled me up! Definitely coming back!
Food 4 Thought
For the First Time ... but Not the Last Time. I recently visited this establishment for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised; for a bar that is tucked away from unknowing eyes, it felt as though I’d been there before. I ordered the salt and pepper squid and, as it's my token never-been-here-before-order-something-you-recognise dish it's fair to say I’ve had a few. This by far exceeds anything that has graced my plate before. My other half, a knife wielding steak maniac, also said ' it was cooked to perfection' and the sauce 'is good enough to drink.'<br/><br/>It must be said, however, that the greatest compliment we can pay to this place is the attentiveness of the staff. It honestly felt like we were the only ones there (quite a feat considering there was a 21st and Hens Night on the night we visited) and our every need was met with helpful and knowledgeable staff. Plus the beer and wine selection puts many, many other more ‘elitist' bars and restaurants to shame. Plus everything is affordable, here is a bar that realises everyone isn’t on the magical miner wage, and they are all the better for it. This may have been our first time to the Village, but it certainly won’t be our last.
Sarah
Dinner with a mate on a Thursday night. Both had steak, excellent meal and decent price at $25... friends have been talking about this place and I finally got to go yay. !!

I think it was TS Eliot who once said "we prepare a face to meat the faces we meat" - 'the pork belly' I casually whispered in the cute waitresses ear. She winked back at me, knowing that I had made a superb selection from the menu. It came to the table before the words had left my lips (the mind reading scanners recently installed are doing the trick). The whole experience was like those scenes from shitty b-grade Hollywood movies where they guy dies in a car-crash and floats up to heaven, or even happy gilmores 'happy place'. The village bar pork belly is my happy place. The only thing complaining was my waist- but that lost all hope long ago. R.I.P washboard abs, hello tastbud erection

Amazing Food. I have come here a few times, but the last time I went I got a steak with field mushrooms and broccolini and peppercorn sauce. It was so amazingly delicious. I can't wait to go again and get the exact same thing.

BEST STEAK SANDWICH IN PERTH!!. Amazing Steak sandwiches!! These have to be tried!!<br/>Service is quick and freindly. <br/><br/>Have been here many times now and have never been disappointed.<br/>Keep it up!

This could be my new drinking place. This place ticks all the boxes- central location, just far away from all the other bars to have lots more parking, very cool decor, cheap food and drinks.. Book ahead for a table- it does get packed later in the night. And check out the ladies bathrooms (obviously don't if you are a guy)- love how the water runs onto a slab of marble when you wash your hands. Tried the haloumi with chilli lime relish (my favourite!), the pouchini (chips with melted cheese and gravy- wouldn't order again- very gluggy and a bit flavourless) and the fetta cheese, olives, breads and oils- (standard good pub fare). overall, would definitely come back

Great service, great food Been back a number of times and it is my fav bar in Subi Will be back
Perth Eater
Food and staff are great. I have been here twice and held my friend hens night here and it was fantastic. The staff were great and the food was perfect. Such a cute place tucked away among the shops. Definately worth a visit.

Great lunch. 3 blokes, 2 Lamb Burgers and 1 Tandoori Chicken Wrap, a lovely bottle of Reisling, good service in an efficient and not obtrusive way all makes for a bloody good 2 hours.<br/><br/>Basic pub food cooked well in a reasonable room at a pretty good price ($95 for the above) means I will happily go back any time I choose to run the gaunlet of Subiaco parking inspectors.
Sandy
Happy to be a regular. This place is so comfortable and the staff & management are friendly. Not at all formal; fantastically down to earth. Which is really cool for a place that's done up so nicely. I noticed a couple of bad reviews here about Village. As a regular, I'm surprised to read this. My friends and I have come here practically every week since they opened, and I don't think we've ever had a bad experience. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Gcla8888
Give it a miss. Went there Friday 27th January 2012 - wouldnt bother again - once the food was ordered and then served about an hour or more later we never had the opportunity to have desert or order a drink as nobody ever returned to our table. Thats probably why so many tables were empty. If you are thinking of going out for dinner give this place a miss and go some where you get service.
Maree

Friendly service, lovely atmosphere and decore and pretty well priced. I cant believe it took me so long to try this place, but I wont be waiting that long to go back. Great floor staff let down by sub par management. When telling your management the dj has been sitting on the couch for last 30 minutes I expect something more than ' no one is here, no one cares' spouted from the 'management'. It's disappointing that you see this attitude as a viable avenue into the niche subiaco market. As a patron of your service I will be doing all I can to discourage others from attending your establishment including talking privately with businesses established in the area.

Awesome food, great service and cool vibe. Love it!

Easy to love. Have become a fan (and regular) of this easy going pub over the past six months. Visited for Thursday curry night for the first time last week....$10! Awesome. Hard to go past the fish and chips though. Staff are friendly and well informed.<br/>Also held a function for work there recently - the private dining room was perfect.<br/>Congrats to the Village Bar team...

Though we came for the curry on a thurs night and the curry options did not appeal to me personally, the menu options made it a difficult choice as they all sounded appetising. The oysters, lamb rogan josh and fish and chips were all very tasty and the service was both attentive and friendly. Good drink selection too. I am really surprised some ppl haven't loved it and can't wait to share it with others :)

Taste Plate Heaven. Met a girlfriend at The Village Bar after work last Tuesday, we have been going on a bit of a mission to find Perth's best tasting plate - the last time I was at The Village it had been drinks only, but chose to return because of all the beautiful food I had seen pass by! We ordered a $14 jug of Boag's Draught; excellent value, plus the first taste plate on the list. It was magnificent; fresh bread, lightly toasted was not too hard; tomato kasaundi which I highly suspect came from a jar of the Goan Cuisine stuff (which is the best I know of!); thick but well-done, crispy slices of chorizo; marinated feta; plump and juicy olives; parmesan-fried artichoke hearts which were an absolute revelation; and about a half-dozen fat, juicy garlic mushrooms which were probably the best thing on the plate. Finished off with a few fresh and colorful frisee leaves in the centre, which were probably meant as a garnish, we used them to mop up the juices anyway. When the waitress came to clear our table, there was nothing left but a few olive pips and some lemon rind. Can't wait to work my way through the rest of the menu!

Absolutely awful. Thought we would give the Village Bar another chance for our Friday office pub lunch, as our favourite haunt was fully booked. Our previous visits 6 months ago ranged from below average to, well, below average. But I figured that we would give them another chance. <br/><br/>After 10 minutes standing at the bar to wait to get our orders in, we received our orders. My steak sandwich was stone cold. Not just a little cold, but completely cold - as if it had been put in the fridge. Regretting our decision to give them another go, I returned the meal to the kitchen. The replacement came, and although it was warm, it was exactly as terrible as our previous visits. Steak was tough, bread looked like it had been sourced from Woolies, watery iceberg lettuce, thick chunks of raw tomato, and a small amount of mayo. All in all, a very underwhelming experience, especially for a $23 sandwich. At least the chips were pretty nice.<br/><br/>I have just read that they somehow won the AHA best steak sandwich award. All I can say is that either they know someone on the panel, or for the tasting, the chefs produced something completely different to what I was served. Anyone with half a taste bud would not have rated that at all.

Had a bit of a get together a few weeks back with around 15 friends, great atmosphere, great food especially the pork, and ice cold beer!!

Nice little hangout. I go to The Village frequently, as I work around the corner.<br/>I personally think it's lovely; the staff are ALWAYS friendly and helpful. The food is not quite amazing, but not terrible either. I've had a dish that wasn't warm enough and one that was a little greasy, but on all other occasions I have been very impressed.<br/>I like going there because of the general friendly atmosphere and the great service.

If you're early 20 something then it might be your kind of place. Big open space with bad live entertainment. It was like a karaoke night where one bad singer highjacked the microphone. Service was ok but not great. Food choice was good but none of us were impressed with our choices. I had the crispy skin chicken with beans and chorizo (stew). The meal was near on $30 and small with no flavour. My partner had a very ordinary steak sandwich and chips and another one of us had an entree size salad for $19 which was over powered by garlic. The wine list was poor and wine by the glass very limited. It was all "ok" but I won't go back.

Casual dining and drinks to boot.. One of the specials of the night was a chilli prawn linguine. It was delicious! Pretty quiet for a tuesday night, but service was swift and everything came out pretty quickly. Great spot for a weekday drink and feed. Wish i'd taken a photo to add to this review. I suggest you go check it out.

Just what Subi needs.... I checked out The Village Bar last night after reading some great reviews in the local rags...and I was not disappointed. This place is just what Subi needs - it is a little bit hidden but that makes it even cooler, and the staff are friendly (no pretention here). We ordered the seafood shared platter - the best platter I have had in Perth for a very long time. Presented on a rustic board, it looked as good as it tasted. This was followed by the duck for mains for me and the steak sandwich for the man. Could not fault either, and strongly recommend the duck. Sweet and sour flavourings were spot on. While the wine list might not impress a connoisseur, it was full of favourites that would make most punters happy. Lots of beer options and the fit out is a million times better than any previous venues. Being a 'local' I am so excited Subi finally has somewhere with a bit of heart...and will be returning soon to try the pork!

Good food everytime. This place is definitely an upgrade to the old Ess Bar and it is a great place to grab a casual bite or drink. I have been to this place a few times with a large group (around 20-30 people) which we had pre-ordered and the food was excellent every time. I recommend the steak sandwich and lamb burger, I have also heard the fish and chips is really good.

The food is ok, nothing special. Have been here three times and all I could honestly say is "it's ok". There are better places to eat in Subi so would definitely choose to eat at Funtastico for around the same money.

On the downside the steak in the steak sanga was overcooked but it still tasted fairly decent. The pork however was really good. It had a nice crunchy crackling on top and the sweetness of the grilled apples went extremely well with the saltiness of the pork. I was really impressed as going for the 'fancier' option at a pub can be quite risky, but it paid off in spades. All up the prices weren't too bad, our meals came to just over $50.

I ordered the Fish and Chips and was pleasantly surprised. I had five pieces of fish and a whole lotta chips with a roasted garlic aioli that really tastes like what it is. Roasted garlic. And the fish was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.

I don't really want to call this a pub, but in essence that is what it is. But it is a nice pub! Great decor, some nice curtains, not super crowded, it has a good feel to it! They have a gallery of pics on their website so have a little squiz.

Tucked away in the corner of Subiaco Village at the site of the old Ess Bar, is the Village Bar. It's a gorgeous Melbourne-esque cross between a gastropub and a bistro that has been decorated very organically. Think wood, vines and lovely clean lines. There's chairs and tables of different types; and menus stuck on top of wooden clipboards. It's funky and suited to the new progression that Perth restaurants and bars seem to be making in the past couple years. This year in particular. It's a Thursday night and the number of people inside is decent - most tables and couches are occupied with smiling groups. It's an eclectic mix just like you'd expect for Subiaco and I have to admit I am eying the people around me curiously as my friends and I sit around chatting. It's our 'family dinner' night for Jay, Linda, Vee and I and Jay's chosen the Village Bar, which I have to admit I hadn't even heard of. One peep at the menu online and I have to say, I was pretty excited for our meal. The menu
