Review Edo Japanese Bbq Restaurant - Subiaco

Jerome Ng
It really depends on what you order at this place. Some are great and some not so great. I had their tempura vegetable and substituted the rice with udon noodle soup and I loved it. My husband ordered the katsu chicken and substituted the rice for ramen and that was a mistake. While the katsu chicken was great, the ramen was totally bland, so definitely just stick with rice. The curry chicken, teriyaki fish and teriyaki beef were all on the less taste side. The mixed platter was good and the sashimi was okay.

Poor customer service. Terrible food, Sashimi extremely thin and not fresh. The cut quality was like it was chewed by a dog before. Pieces still stuck together, some broken. Waited 45 min for bento when there was no other customers around. Curry was sour and taste like it was from an expired instant packet curry. Place was dirty, ceiling fan looked like it hasn't been cleaned in years. (photo below) Also saw one of the chef did not wash his hands after using the toilet. Will not recommend, even if the Groupon deal seems cheap.

My Girlfriend, daughter and I went here today. The food was excellent, possibly the best chicken I've ever had. I had the Curry Chicken bowl, My daughter the Teriyaki Chicken Bento and my Girlfriend is British and usually doesn't like Foreign Food but she said it was the greatest Salad she's ever had. $40 dollars all together and none of us could finish our meal's the portions were so big. My Girlfriend said it was the tastiest, most delicious chicken she's ever had. My daughter was also very happy. I spilled my daughters Miso Soup and the staff member who just sat down to eat got up and wiped down our table for us. Excellent Price, great service and fantastic Japanese aesthetic of both the food and the place was above and beyond what I expected for the price. The best place in WA to take someone who doesn't like or hasn't tried Japanese food.

Not great, unfortunately. Green tea was self serve and tasted faintly of tea. Sushi was stale and the seaweed thoroughly browned by time. Needs some serious polish.

The sashimi platter was good. The fried food platter was okay. Bentos and sushi were a disaster. Poor quality stale sushi. Poor service. The waitress has no knowledge about japanese food. Allergy safety orientation does not meet expectations. Food quality was not at the expected level.

Edo is one of the longest- running Japanese diners/ small restaurants in Subiaco. Centrally located, just off Rokeby Road and the corner of Barker Road... They've been there for the good times and the hard pandemic times. Always delivering good quality Japanese food and they are a very popular dine-in option, especially on Thursday nights and weekends. Friendly service and a real neighbourly vibe!

The interior is very asian of appearance, and the staff were awesome. I tried the eel bento box. The bento box was heavenly, the fatness of the eel was balance well with the glazed sauce slathered on the top of it, furthermore it was visually appealing . Very well executed as good as the stuff in japan. The only let down was the rice didn't feel like Jap rice. Other than that minor gripe it was a kool place to hang out.
Jondog
Great food when they actually make the meal on time and aren't rushed by delivery orders. Don't order on the weekend!

I just visited edo to order a large sushi platter to be picked up in two days time. They told me they couldn't supply it as they "were full",even though I satisfied their ordering requirements.I deliberately went to this restaurant rather than a large chain as I wanted to support a local business in these tough retailing times.Never again!

Have come here a few times and never been disappointed (though never been blown away either). From last visit: sashimi/chirashi were fine and gyoza was tasty and well-cooked.
Adam Fiori
CHEAP AND CHEERFUL... My wife and I popped in straight after we left the hospital (giving birth) as she craved for some fresh sashimi for not having them for 9 months! And they where so fresh. I had a katsu don pork cutlet and my wife had teriyaki salmon (best teriyaki sauce ever) and still manage to get change from $40!! Highly recommended

We used to come here regularly however it’s definitely gone downhill. Service was friendly however the food came out with inconsistent timing. The fried spring rolls and gyoza was undercooked.. it was so pale and the gyoza skin was still raw. Sashimi was average. Chicken katsu was cold by the time my husband’s meal came out. So strange that our main meals came out at about 10 minutes apart. Won’t be returning.

Sooo good. Added to our uber eats favorites. Great price and great staff. Lunch time includes free tea when you dine in. Wonderful fresh bentos, filling donburi. A favorite for date night.

The services were really amazing and the girls were friendly.. sadly, the food was a great let down.
Having untrained/half trained Chinese cooks to run a Japanese restaurant isn't the best idea.
The tempura prawn were not done the proper style, teriyaki sauce tasted too too sweet.. like sweet soya sauce you get from Chinese restaurant and most of the items from the entree taster platter taste like those you get from dim sum package from Coles.
If they improve on the food and stop trying to fuse it with Chinese cooking style, this little place would be a gem!
Ashleigh Jayne
I do not recommend this restaurant in the slightest. The service is terrible, two of the girls serving us had a bad attitude. The sauces have a chemical taste. The sushi is not fresh at all. The miso is very mediocre. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
Sas Van
Terrible food, meat is poor quality and gristly, seaweed salad was soggy and swimming in green slime, noodle soup was flavourless, had to throw the lot in the bin! Sadly it was also expensive. Would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant
El
It's not the fanciest restaurant - the layout is rather annoying with the pole in the middle of the ramp next to the counter and the "wannabe" Teppanyaki set up which looks a bit tacky.
But it's clearly a popular go-to as it was quite busy on a weeknight at 5.30pm/6pm.
I was disappointed with the size of my eel cut on the Donburi but it was delicious and very well priced considering it was eel and a sit down meal. It's actually a good value "quick meal" restaurant.
Casey
Ordered takeaway for dinner. The beef with wasabi which was tasty. The fish katsu curry was good. Overall satisfied but didn't taste very authentic just good for a quick meal. Sushi was terrible do not come here for that.
Ilovebeansprouts
Not usually a fan of wasabi, but the Wasabi Creamy Beef here is nice. Not my go-to place for high quality Japanese food, but if you're after something quick, easy and filling, this is it. Bento boxes and Donburis are reasonably priced with good portion sizes. We usually go for the Teriyaki, Curry or Wasabi options. Katsu Don is a hit and miss; sometimes chicken is overcooked & dry. Fried udon and fried rice didn't quite hit the mark, especially with the price we paid for, so will give them a miss in the future.
B & M
Wasabi creamy beef bento $14.90
Chicken katsu Curry bento $16.90
Fast and friendly service. Good price and decent food. If you want something fast and easy this is the place.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Tried the Edo Fried Rice today for lunch. I didn't love it. :( The ratio of chicken and veg to rice was very unbalanced. Not a lot of flavour either. Not sure why half a head of limp cabbage featured either, so random. Won't return.
Discerning Foodie
Average food, service was ok and the cafe music was far too loud. I ordered an eel rice bowl...it came with one skinny piece of eel, 2 sprigs of snow pea shoot, and about 5 pieces of bland boiled cabbage, the rice was generous but not particularly fluffy or special. If you're in Subi and really stuck for a meal...and desperately craving Japanese, give it a try.
Pam Thompson
I ordered through Uber Eats and was really disappointed.. The Miso soup and chicken sticks were alright, but overall for the $25 I spent it was a waste. They need to improve the flavours, it was really bland
Ted
Been a couple of times for lunch now. The food is reasonable for the price, but the portions are usually modest. It's also a hassle getting the order in 20 minutes or less around midday. Still charging 80c on card transactions below $25 which is a bit ridiculous in this day and age. Could become a regular if they worked on these points, but there are other Japanese options available in Subi that are better right now.
Leanna Prevost
Not good!!!!!
Ordered through Uber eats as was the only Japanese available at night. Ordered beef bento, chicken katsu bento, tuna sashimi for $50. Bento salads swimming in oil with browned leaves. Chicken katsu soggy, lukewarm and so salty could not eat it. Miso soup standard. Sushi in bento box not fresh (assuming they were unsold leftovers). Very disappointed and what a waste of $50!!!! Beware this is 'fast food' Japanese not the real deal.
Marcia Oey
Ordered via UberEATS and is my new go-to Japanese restaurant on my lunch break at work! Their portions are generous with a good rice-to-meat ratio compared to other places in Perth. The prices are a little steep for what you get in terms of quality, but you pay for the portion size. Would recommend.

We used to go to Edo many years ago and loved it then. Went this evening- two adults and our three children. Had to wait for over an hour for our meals. The first dish delivered was given to another table and then the customer took it back to the counter. It was re-delivered a couple of minutes later to our table, when I queried the fact it had sat with another customer, no apology, just a 'Well he didn't touch it', unsure how they knew that. Kitchen kept dishing out 'Uber' and other takeaway meals ahead of dine in customers. Service was polite enough, ambiance cosy. Food was honest but nothing special.
Jonnie Bee
Consistently served quality sashimi - I usually have to wait as it is always busy - a bento Box for $9.90 is good value for Subi. My regular sushi spot.

Best Karage in Western Australia. Try it Okazu. Wonderfully fresh and fast.

Best Karage in Western Australia. Try it Okazu. Wonderfully fresh and fast.

I'm so disappointed with my order... The place were busy and I expected more from them. Ordered sushi and the rice were overcooked, mushy and didn't taste anything. The most annoying thing for me is the eftpost. They charge $1 for purchased under $25. They are more busy on lunch time and not much people spend $25 for a lunch, and most people these days use eftpos even for $5 transaction.
SweetPoison
Came here on Friday night to pick up some takeaway sashimi. The place was super quiet so I was expecting prompt service. I ordered the 14 piece assorted sashimi. I waited over 15 minutes for my order. I was soo disappointed when I got home and opened my meal. Yes there was 14 pieces as ordered however, some of the slices were soo small it was ridiculous. It didn't matter in the end as the sashimi was hard and 'meaty'. Tasted terrible. Def not melt in your mouth. Def not going back either. Yikes!
Kieron Hunter
Great teppanyaki and bento boxes. Would recommend for Friday night as you can just wander in no problem. Service is quick and efficient (wouldn't use "friendly", think German attitude) and it's decent priced too.
Katrinalikesfood
Always a super busy spot. Staff serve up your eats really quickly. If you eat in at lunch you can serve yourself green tea.
A popular spot for footy star watching who frequent the spot.
The karrage chicken bento is my favourite!
Emily
it is my first time here, just walked past.
The shop very clean, the place is small but I feel very relaxing here.
I had a chirishi bento. Sashimi safe quite fresh.
Will come back again if I come over to Subiaco and want to have something light.
Carol B
Really wanted to like the place but it left us a little disappointed.
The Positive: Chirashizushi was really fresh and delicious! Miso was nice too! Curry tasted great!
Ok, on to the not so great points-
Firstly, we ordered Hosomaki and what came out...was not Hosomaki. It was honestly a cross between Chumaki and Futomaki. Some might ask, what's wrong with a bigger size? Well, we ordered it for our toddler so Hosomaki was the perfect bite size for her. Point is, don't advertise Hosomaki if you're not serving Hosomaki.
Secondly - Fish Katsu curry was more like Tempura fish with insufficient curry sauce. Shame it wasn't Katsu but it did taste quite nice. The sauce was too little however it was very authentic. Again, advertising Katsu but I wasn't served Katsu. My friend ordered Karage chicken but you guessed it, didn't get Karage style, it was a soft battered chicken. My toddler ended up liking it since it was soft, LOL!
Whilst I'm not Japanese, I have been to Japan (and no, not just Tokyo) and I'm not an expert but I know the difference between Katsu and Tempura! :)
Anyway, doesn't mean we won't return but we know what to expect next time ;). Maybe it was just an off day!

Ordered the teriyaki tofu bento box & apart from the sesame seeds on the megre rice, there was nothing Japanese about this very disappointing meal. The included salad was iceberg lettuce & soggy tomato. There were no pickles-Japanese or otherwise- the 2 pieces of dry -clearly old sushi contained tuna in 1 & fake crab in the other. I was not asked what sushi I'd like-which I always am at every other Japanese restaurant where I've ordered a bento. I am a vegetarian, so my husband took a bite of each & that was all. He ordered beef domburi & it contained 6 slivers of beef. If you chopped the beef up, it would have been lucky to fill 2 tablespoons. Again the rice was very merge. We will not go here again.

The logo says eat at edo. I say don't bother. The tuna salad looked predigested and was inedible. The chicken omelette looked truly bizarre. Like no other omelette I have ever seen; looked like Chicken nugget with an egg flung over it. The miso soup had no flavour whatsoever. I had to pour soy sauce on it to try for some but to little avail. I can't be bothered describing the rest but you get the picture. Only redeeming feature was it didn't cost much. Avoid. Rating one star

Love this place. Great for both dine in and takeaway. The food is basic but fresh and tasty. Now I'm back working in the area I shall be back!
Revisited today and this place rocks!!

Unpleasant and unpalatable. I've just had a bite to eat this evening at Edo in Subiaco. I've been wanting to try this place since recently moving to a place just round the corner.

I have to be blunt... this was a cheap and dirty dinner. The food I was given was far below the standard I was expecting.

I ordered a simple meal of two varieties of sushi rolls and gyoza. The first plate arrived with 4 teriyaki chicken rolls, they were stiff cold and stale. Evidently prepared ages ago and tossed onto a plate from the fridge. The chicken is an unpleasant commercially prepared variety that I wouldn't imagine even KFC using. The second plate of prawn avocado rolls were fresh, but bland. In short, the sushi here is really really bad.

I quite enjoyed the gyoza, they were hot and crispy. Other diners around me had ordered bento boxes and hot dishes which looked ok.

Tonight I was looking forward to some tasty, interesting sushi but Edo didn't match my hopes and expectations. With so much choice in Subiaco and around Perth I won't come back to Edo.

My bill came to $23.70 + $1 card charge. They have a $25 minimum on cards.
Christina Fernandes
I do not believe in throwing away food but this time I did! The sushi was inedible - tasteless, hard rice and almost stale, if that's a word for sushi?!!!
No chopsticks with the Bento box takeaway - fine if u r going home but otherwise quite tricky! Everything as really disappointing- won't be returning.
Tyson Teege
Average to the max. Fish was NOT sashimi grade. They are cutting corners like its scrap book time in year 2. This place used to be cool. Last three times I've been I've left disappointed. Why do I keep doing this to myself?!
Matlijoskid
Disgusting. that all I have to say. These people are clearly writing good reviews about themselves. dont be fooled. ive eaten here twice I thought id give them another go. its awful... for a place like this you can email me matlijoskid@live.com.au

horrible food!!
Eile
Good. Had the beef curry donburi and I liked it. The beef was chunky and there was a decent amount, not the teeny, tiny strips of beef you may get at other places. Liked the flavour and it was yummy. The price is also reasonable and it is a good option for a quick work lunch.

We stopped into Edo last night just as they were closing.

The man in charge(who I assume is the owner/ manager) explained we couldn't order food, but was happy to sell us some sushi.

We were so happy to be served by someone who was enthusiastic about later customers. He wasn't trying to shoo us out which made us feel very comfortable in the restaurant. It was also comforting to see his whole family were having a chat at one of the tables and enjoying life. I can't go past this kind of atmosphere, it's rare to see happy family businesses.

To the point- The sushi was simple and delicious. Unpretentious food just being food. It was also fresh, not the kind that's been sitting for hours. I'll definitely go back for the quality of both food and service.

Thanks Edo. I hope you get lots of good happy customers like us :D

Lovely Service. Great service, so friendly and very accommodating for a large group of people.
I just had sushi and spring rolls which were tasty, most people had a proper main and had donburi and said they loved it
Cath Gallagher
Takeaway marinated deep fried chicken & rice bowl, yakitori chicken skewers, miso soup & spring rolls. Chicken was disgusting full of fat & grisle, no sauce in the marinated one, about 1 tsp with the skewers, all went into bin. Soup & spring rolls very mediocre. Rang to complain & they couldn't have cared less. Guess they've got your money & there's nothing one can do about it. Revolting food & cavalier attitude to customer service. How they get away with it is beyobd me. Don't bother with this cruddy joint.

Ok, but there are better japanese in subiaco. Ordered 2 hot takeaway dishes on Sunday. A chicken noodle dish and katsu chicken

The katsu chicken was fairly standard and the egg noodles were tasty but there was hardly any meat.

There are better Japanese restaurants in Subi, such as Nippon or Tenkadori
ObesieOdettie
Great teriyaki beef. Edo does the best teriyaki beef I've ever had, saucy with lots of flavour. The sushi rolls are average but the main dishes are awesome with good prices. Service is good too.

Good food

Ichiban. This place is such fun. Cheap and cheerful with great food for the money. The owner is a hoot and so charming. He reminds me of an asian Basil Fawlty on happy pills.
Annie
Used to come here regularly because the food and price is ok. Came here again today but found the service even worse than before. The woman at the till was rude and scarcastic!! Will prob go to other Japanese around.

LOVE IT!!. Bang for bucks!! Best value in Subiaco!!

Always fresh and big serving!!

Free green tea at lunch!!

Best Kaarage Chicken ever!!

Keep up the good work guys!!

Worst Japanese food I have tasted

The food at Edo is fantastic and so well priced. Quick friendly service. Decent food in stuck up snobby Subiaco

Was a really busy nice but the staff were friendly and awesome and brought the food out fast. The teriyaki salmon was delicious and teppenyaki beef was amazing. Good value for money.

OMG!! I'm so in love with EDO!!!. I live quite far from Edo, so I always order my favourite - Karrage chicken bento, when I get a chance. Since I've known this place for over 7 years now before I last worked in Subi, so I thought today I need to step outside my comfort zone.... I am going to try - Katsu Don chicken instead.... OMG, I found my true love!!!! Please god, give me the courage to try out the rest of the menu!!
J
Love it. Yummy!
casual style great for a quick filling jap fix
suggest the bento box with udon noodles, really yummy
half price lunch as well which is great

Beware. This place is on the name and shame list from the Dept. of Health.

http://www.public.health.wa.gov.au/cproot/4677/2/120727-Subiaco-Edo-Japanese.pdf

The wife and I went here for lunch and we didn't leave happy. Service was good and the food came out quick but that was it. I ordered mixed sashimi and it looked liked it was cut up with a serrated knife. Some pieces still stuck to the other and inconsistent sized pieces. My kingfish was three times the size it should be. The the katsu chicken was oily. Salad had a Italian style dressing with an unripe Tomatoe. The rice was good and miso soup was good.
Not Traditional Japanese food just western food with a Japanese twist.
FatCat
Not bad. Quality can be variable but it's generally tasty and fast enough for a quick lunch visit.
Tannic Teeth
Perfect of lunch stop-over.
Had the Katsu curry bento and tasted partner's teriyaki tofu bento. It's pretty had to take offence at the quality and price.
Fatlyf
Yum. Fast. Yum. That's all.
Julia
Cheap and Delicious. I love this place for cheap and easy dinner in Subiaco. I can't comment on the range of food because I always order the same katsu chicken bento. The sushi is also really good.

The price is right, and they charge something ridiculous like $1 per person for BYO. The waitstaff are not overly helpful but they are friendly enough, and don't complain when we have sometimes sat there for hours with our $10 dinner and BYO wine.

A great casual, cheap and tasty place for lunch or dinner.
John
Edo is great for a quick quality Japanese meal .. The teriyaki chicken is awesome
YummyKitty
Ordered takeout- ready in 15 mins as promised and hot. Veggie spring rolls and veggie tempura very tasty, but our mains of chicken teriyaki were just so-so. Either the chicken was precooked or just not fresh... It was bland and stale tasting. And come on guys- charging 30 cents for each packet of soy ginger or wasabi sauce?
John Appleseed
Rude waitress. The food for the price is ok I suppose. However the waitress was plain RUDE and OBNOXIOUS. If management is reading this. You should fire that women.
Maria Cristina
Have been here before and was very good but today not so good. Tea was. Tepid and teriyaki chicken was not hot enough. Service however was still good enough to go back and give another shot
Ashleigh
Tasty enough.. Gyoza and takoyaki were flavorsome enough. I thought the service was average but the price reasonable. Wouldn't mind giving it another try
Nesscritic
Karaage Fried Chicken Bento. I really like this dish. Cheap & Tasty - my two favourite combos.
Hungerpangs
Edo Average. Read the reviews and decided to chance it as nothing much was open in Subi (it was Sunday). Didn't feel overly hungry so ordered the prawn tempura sushi, gyoza, karaage skewers and octopus balls. Sushi was tiny and the prawn consisted of one per slice. At 5.50 tho, it's to be expected. Gyoza was a wonton x 4, chicken karaage had an unusual thick yet crunchy batter. Takoyaki balls were consistent with what I know. All up came to $25. Sure its cheap but I'd rather pay more and go for quality and traditional Japanese flavours. My sister and I said if you were unfamiliar with Japanese cuisine, you'd probably be happy with it. Their saving grace is they're open so they get the customers. Just ok.
Jess
Worst dining experience of my life. Lazy incompetant and rude staff. 40 minute Wait for 2 rolls of mediocre sushi. $25 dollar eftpos minimum is ridiculous. Relatively expensive compared to other places in Perth. DO NOT EAT HERE.
Chloe.t.morley
Hit and miss. Usually miss
BPFood
Cheap food. The price is great. If you're looking for a quick lunch fix, go for it. I always order the karage chicken there... Bento box is less than $10!
Ladybug
Ladybug. Love the food! Sweet staff. I'm not complaining.
I Love Food
Food = average in taste & overpriced. Service = You have to stand on a chair & jump up & down to get their attention. Overall = only go if there's nothing else open!!
Dustin
Edo Japanese continues to disappoint, I'm all for giving second chances but every time I give them a chance (as it is the closest Japanese to where I live) I find myself referring my decision. The katsu curry lacks flavor, there is too much rice and the chicken comes out soggy. I would not recommend this place to anyone
D K
Terrible. Went to Edo a few days ago for a quick dinner with a friend. There was a hair on the side of my bowl of udon when they served it to me. When I told the waitress, she took it away but kept saying "No I don't think its a hair." She later brought back a new bowl of udon (might have just been the same one) without apologising.
Anyway food turned out to be terrible. Recommend avoiding this restaurant with its poor staff.
Padraig MacIain
Rather disappointed. That is the last time I am going to EDO, after previously enjoying it. 45 minutes wait for my food to come out, still not there, the staff too busy playing on their digital tablets and me watching other people that came in 10-15 minutes after me getting their food first. At least it only cost me $9.90 and hunger.
Hilarious
Unbelievable. Japanese, but better. at take-away prices. Looks and smells great, great kitchen noises and vision. Good, small-sized restaurant, with a really interesting proprietor running around making sure everything's tickety-boo, without getting in anyone's way.
Russ Mathanda
Teppenyaki is the bomb. A small cafe style venue with a restaurant taste. Highly recommend teh Teppanyaki menu at dinner time .Value for money no doubt one of the best kept secrets of dining in Perth.I am planning my next emal there as it is a great place seats around 35 people so not too busy and quick service if you need to be somewhere fast.
Rin
AMAZING!!!. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly...the whole experience was memorable...and cost just over $20 per person for 2 bentos and entree and 2 drinks for 2 people of course...AMAZING! would definitely recommend this place to anyone...but it quite a busy place to go early to avoid delay :)
Mztiff
Good quality at a good price. Subiaco has so many good Japanese places and Edo is definitely one of them. For around $9.90 you can get a bento box with your choice of main with rice, salad, Miso and two types of sushi. The chicken teriyaki comes with a beautiful dark sauce and the portion size is amazingly good for what you pay for. The donburi set is even cheaper for those who want a lighter meal.
Kirsty Brooks
Mid-week japanese fix!. I have been craving Japanese for the last 3wks and just had to find the time. So after some late night sopping - headed to Edo after my housemates constant praises for it.

The only place I've had cheaper Japanese is Melbourne - but the food was great! Octopus Salad and Fried Dumplings for entree, Fried udon noodles with chicken and scallops for our main. YUM YUM YUM! everything was cooked and seasoned excellent, the scallops were to die for! I didn't try the sushi which would be the only true test, as I have yet to have any decent sushi in Perth.

Edo will definitely see me again - keen for their cheap Bento box!
DMH
It's all good... I don't know where these reviews of "slow service" come from... It has never taken more than 5-10 minutes to get in , order, and leave with takeaway..

The food is simple(in a good way), fast, and tasty. I eat there at least once a week.

.. and if the service is so bad... why are there lines of people there every single lunch time..

Fast and tasty:)
D1CK0
Worst service ever. I went to buy my lunch at Edo today and only had $10 cash. I assumed this would be okay as nearly every other shop in the world has a $10 minimum for Eftpos. My lunch came to $17, which I didn't have in cash, and they wouldn't take my Eftpos card. They gave me the option to go to an ATM and draw cash out (gee thanks) but I decided just to go to another Japanese Restaurant.

Edo, your food isn't that special that you can ask for a $25 Eftpos minimum, when I'm just buying my lunch.

Is the black money you rort from people paying cash really that important? I'm never going back. There are plenty of other great Japanese restaurants in Subi that aren't arrogant.
FoodLover
Sushi is nice and fresh, Katsu is so yummy, but greasy, resulting in indigestion.
Nantoka
Food average, service sucks.
Champ
Really average Japanese food, I found their chicken to be quite fatty and somewhat gristly, not much care taken in the food prep.
Karen
Love the teppanyaki. I came to Edo's often during night times, getting takeaway or dine-ins..I enjoy watching the teppanyaki chef, coz I think he looks very cute and professional. Food is great and atmosphere is very comfortable :)
Capt. Manners
Average. Tried it a few years ago and wasn't great. Wouldn't be taking Eric's review very seriously, must be a friend of the owners. He reviewed all of the competition (places actually run by Japanese people) and bagged them all except for this one, all on the same day can I add. Suspicious, I think so...Poor tactics Eric, whoever you are!
Eric
Awesome place! Super food, friendly service, great price! One of the best food in Perth! they might not look and priced like 5 star, but definitely taste 5 star! Teppanyaki is a must!!
Eigna
Good food, small place. Went here for dinner with a group of 5. it was smaller than i thought however we had a great table with Ikea stool chairs? The food came out quite quickly, the servings were very large, even the biggest eater found himself full at the end. The only dissapointing thing was there was no teppanyaki that night, which is what i really wanted.
Sjb
Fast and fresh. Popped in for quick lunch with a friend who is recovering after fight with his car (he came off second best). Two bento boxes (terriaki chicken and sashimi) were ordered, cost under $15 and were on the table within 10 minutes. The tasty morsels of Japanese loveliness were devoured in less time than it took to create. Complimentary water and tea are a bonus. Clean, quick and delicious.
Spoonmaster
Small cafe style Jap. Only a small place largely building on lunchtime takeaway trade. Food is good and prices are realistic for this sort of place, more of a quick in and out sort of place than a real restaurant.
Shane
Food was ok, not great. Service was unbelievably slow!
PS I Love To Cook
And crave for warm saucy food and crunchy stuffs Edo is the place I go!

I am definitely a fan of this place and will return again!
PS I Love To Cook
Then there are days when I am lazy to cook... And crave for warm saucy food and crunchy stuffs Edo is the place I go! Katsu Chicken Curry in Donburi.

The food was just so-so to my liking but my partner loved the teriyaki beef pretty much. The sushi (two pieces) in the bento did not come with any wasabi (usually with a small squeeze of wasabi in all the Japanese restaurants I have been to). Additional $0.50 was charged on the request and we were not informed till the bill came.
Hungryagainperth
There is a casual atmosphere circulating the place with free water/tea, order and pay at the counter system and uniform-free waitresses. Staff are there to do what they are supposed to do, sort of like an inherent no-fuss policy in place.
