Review Architects And Heroes - Subiaco

Simon Thuijs
Great coffee and food options on the Subi strip. My lunch bagel was 10/10 — quality bread, fillings and generous additions of crispy chicken. The fritters were a little dry, smooth and unflavoured— could be improved with more texture or spices, though I realise the recipe of gluten-free which might explain the consistency.

1st time here and had a delicious breakfast (english breakfast) highly recommend. Coffee was great also.

We had the $12 chicken bagels and they were really delicious! Walking around looking for a light lunch with my kids and popped in here in passing. Always nice to be greeted with a smile, first impressions count. Then when my 10year old went to order and you acknowledged him, another big tick 😀 Food did not take too long and came well presented. Bagels were fab and so was everything inside them! Great place and will be back again!

My vegetarian dish VERY tasty and well-priced (Budda Bowl) and friend's fruit compote stunning in taste & presentation. Quaint tiny cafe with outdoor seating (as well as inside). Pleasant, courteous and hard working staff. Busy street, so a bit noisy if dining outside. (Not so sure about the chrome table/chairs. Cold, uneven and noisy to move - suggest replace with wood?)

Came here on a Saturday morning around 10:30 for a small take away. I was time conscious cause I had to catch the train. It took 12 minutes for my coffee to be made. In this time I only saw 5 coffees and 2 smoothies being served. Are they short staffed/ working with undertrained staff? Probably, lots of cafes in Perth are experiencing this right now. Could they say that there is a 10 min wait for take away? Yes.

A cute little cafe with exterior (curbside) seating available. Their delicious Chai Latte is made from scratch, not powder. I also had their lunch special, Vegan Buddha bowl. A beautiful balance of flavours with a little spicy bite. We also had the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and the hollandaise sauce on the side.

Excellent coffee, I strongly recommend choosing a flight of espressos, long blacks and milk drinks avoid the batch brew. The Code Black beans are very tasty. Plenty of choices unless you're vegetarian as far as food is concerned. Great ambience and music, I'd avoid the restroom here though.

Enjoyed the ice chocolate drink. They use better quality ice-cream than most for that. Tastes similar to milo which we didn't mind. Went downhill after we got served the drinks because we waited about half an hour for our food. Looked outside and none of the 3 tables outside had any food served as well. If the kitchen was having a slow start or any issues, just hope they could have conveyed it to the customers so they know how long to wait. I liked my dish which was the eggs benedict with pulled pork. Boyfriend ordered the croquettes. Not much flavour or texture from it. Just the texture of starchy potato. Overall, not worth the wait.

Bircher muesli was rather plain and small. Good coffee. Friendly service. Would love to return to try the other dishes.

Keto price friendly 😇

The place is a cracker and amazing value for money.

I’m on the healthy Keto quest (it’s working beautifully) and i find cafes still want to charge full price for “eggs on toast” plus sides. I’m happy to pay full price because its me that’s change my eating habits not a cafes menu. I typically pay $22-27 in the area.
Architects and Hero’s has recognise the change and adapted. So I want to help spread the word.
Pretty sure they had a sign out front saying they were rated no 3 for their coffee in the area. May I say they should be No 1. Coffee had a beautiful flavor & aroma. Silky smooth brew with those fabulous notes that spell single origin.

It's alright. Went there a few days ago, had the pulled pork sandwich which was okay. Coffee was burnt. Nice location tho as it is situated in the heart of Subiaco but honestly it wasn't a great enough experience to make me want to go back.
Wulan Sucipto
Nice place but it’s a bit small. I found out their mocha is very good. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Some nice spot for photography especially for foodie.

Best coffee in perth so far! Chai latte there were also unique and not using powder! Food were also beautifully cooked! The salmon is abit fishy there
Jasmackandherpack
The coffee is good. The food is very average. Maybe even below average. If you don’t like cramped spaces or sitting on stool then this place is not for you.
Mr Martin
Cutesy space. Came in on a Sunday late morning to meet a friend for a drink. On arrival it was quite busy, but there were seats to be found. Service staff were friendly and helpful in identifying the limited (3, or 4) gluten free menu options. Drink options are also fairly limited, but I found the coffee to be good. The Spanish sausage dish I ate was good, but lacked something I couldn't put my finger on because my focus was elsewhere. Prices are however quite reasonable, I'm likely come back at some stage.
Perth Eats
lovely cafe, tasty food and amazing coffee. had poached eggs with a side of avocado and a flat white. 63 degree egg was absolutely perfect! staff forgot to give me any avocado, but i didn't really receive any apology which i was disappointed with. other than that i did really like this cafe and the food and coffee is good quality.
Tam P
Coffee was very good. I then ordered a chai latte with was even better. Food-wise I had a simple breakfast (poached eggs, toast, bacon, avocado) and this was quite decent, but a little on the pricy side. It was nothing to scream about, but good, simple food. One complaint is that the place is very small and cramped, but I guess that can't be helped.

Pretty yummy granola :)) We arrived here very early on a Wednesday morning to be greeted by the staff. We then ordered the granola and bacon&egg bun and they came out in a flash. They were delicious- the granola was an amazing blend and the yoghurt and milk complemented it nicely.
Neewei94
I love their french toast and hot chocolate! I think their hot chocolate is the best, the milk foam is smooth enough and it blends well with the chocolate! Definately will come back again!
Jonnie Bee
Average EVERYTIME! I work close by and occasionally I'm dragged here by a work colleague - but I'm always left annoyed, disappointed and out of pocket. The coffee is ok but thats where I draw the line, service is super slow and well 2 words come to mind "bloody hipsters!" With a care factor of "0", the food is overpriced and average.
I'd rather walk the 10min up the hill to Yelo to get a decent fix

Came here on a visit to Perth with my fiancé Nicholas Cooke and was pretty impressed. It was a Monday morning after 9am and fairly busy. Service was friendly and patient. It was chilly outside and the inside was warm but as we had been walking and were already warmed up, we chose to sit outside.

I got the smashed avocado which tasted delicious, the condiments really added to it, and the 63° eggs were cooked perfectly. It’s the first time I have had 63° eggs with avocado – most of the time it’s poached or fried so this was a nice change.

The chai latte tasted great though I wish the serving was more than one cup. I would come back again likely for the same meal – not much else on the menu really tickled my fancy.

Well this was a big disappointment!

I have been looking forward to trying this cafe out after reading about it on The Urban List as a great Perth spot for breakfast!
I must admit the coffee was wonderful definitely 5 stars for that but you have to ask for a "white" because cappuccino isn't something they list.
Which brings me to the worst aspect, the service which I would give 0 stars
The blonde girl serving looked bored, unhappy and annoyed to have me asking questions or ordering anything.
She was condescending, rolled her eyes at my "do you do cappuccinos?" And dismissive of me in general. A terrible first impression and set up the whole experience in a negative light .
Food was OK but nothing amazing 3 stars

So in summary definitely go and get a coffee it's delicious, but don't expect a smile or eye contact, get a takeaway and get outta there or just hope that girl isn't working when you go
Eggsellent
Really lovely cafe.
Staff were so incredible and friendly,
A little small to be so busy! But the coffee was definitely worth it.
My sister had a general Flat White and the coffee art was so adorable! I had their Rose tea.
I'm very much an english breakfast girl but I loved their challenging tea menu which made me explore other options and I'm so glad.
However their portions for the coffee and tea was quite small and we're finished very quickly.

The food was incredible to look at. However a little undercooked for my sisters Poached eggs. I asked for mine to be fried eggs and we're perfect but the bread was hard to cut through with a general butter knife but I was pleased to use my hands for a change.

The soggy nature of my sisters eggs however was a let down for her food.

But all in all, lovely and would return
I hope you are prepared for the GREATEST granola of your life! What a treat A&H is. A tiny place busting with life this is the place to be. Coffee is fantastic. I have never liked chai ever in my life and begrudgingly had a taste of hubby's because it looked amazing. Boy oh boy my tastebuds were transported to heaven and back in that one sip!! Never have I had a drink so delicious!!! Then the food arrived and i was speechless. Presented flawlessly, smashed avo arrived and they dont hold back folks. With basically 2 avocados worth of smash I was happier than Gordon Ramsay with a bowl of lamb sauce. The eggs on top were the softest clouds ever to transcend the depths of the Earth that was the dukkah graciously scattered on top. But the GRANOLA. Now lets get this straight guys... granola is easy to do but hard to do well. This magical forest of fruits and grains lay down so perfectly before me was created by fairies and unicorns who spread their magic on the kitchen and staff at architects. Unfortunately there is no way to describe the pure bliss and happiness I experienced with every mouthful. I was suprised at how in love I was with what I considered to be a simple and easy breakfast of delight. All I can say is please for the love of God just try it yourself. Will be back again. If it wasn't so pricey I would be there daily but $40 for a breakfast for two isnt something I am ready to fork out every morning. The true heroes of Rokeby rd- thank you for serving happiness on a plate.

These guys know how to make a real good coffee! The ambience is your typical subi vibe, chilled and relaxing. Eggs Benedict is super tasty, crispy bacon and perfect eggs that aren't too runny. Would recommend this place if you love a good coffee and quality food. Also loved the little touch of cute succulents in niche pots on tables!
David
Went there for breakfast. I saw an amazing picture on Instagram concerning their muffin... So why not to try ?! In the picture were big and all decorated on top with fruits and nuts. In reality were small and anonymous , no fruit , no nuts or cream on top. So I decided to buy an Almond Croissant. Taste was good and coffee too.
Roma1986
I don't usually write reviews, but I had one of the worst meals of my life here a few days ago. I literally could not finish it! I had the duck with potato waffles. A word to the chef: please try your food before putting it on the menu.
Dahl
Poor service, waited for ages to even be acknowledged by waiters. The menu was nothing special. Overall we found the food to be average at best, wouldn't go back.
Catherine
Need better range hood, after having brunch there, all of us got those oily smell... The girl at the counter has no manner at all... will never return
M
It annoys me that I like their coffee so much because damn they slow. Like. Unbelievably slow when it comes to making coffee. Like I said, a real shame considering the quality of the product.
Raichu
Just came here to eat for lunch and was really disappointed. The service was very unprofessional, they seem that they couldn't be bothered working, when we entered the cafe we were just stared at by the staff with the expression "are you gonna tell me what you want" not even smiling or greeted (it wasn't even busy) one staff was walking around idly making drinks for customers whilst eating an apple in one hand, like you can eat the apple but just don't do it In front of customers it was very unprofessional. As a person that works in hospitality this was unacceptable, where was their manager?! Secondly since the last time I came here the food quality has gone down a lot such a shame because they use to make really good food. Don't think I'll be coming back.
SweetPoison
I am giving this place extra points for the great service and for saving my disaster of a morning. The aim was to get breakfast before work. Started in Freo, then Claremont and then a cafe in subi- unfortunately the opening times don't reflect what time breakfast actually starts. That 6am opening time at the Freo cafe was for coffee only as were the other 3. Just as I was about to give up on the idea of breakfast and frantically run to Coles I passed architects and heroes. There was no salmon on the side menu but the waiter said he could do it! Service was wonderful, coffees amazing and hot and well priced. The tomatoes weren't grilled but I really couldn't have cared as it was better then my Coles option. What a fab cafe. They also served food at the time they said they did. Breakfast savers. Really are heroes!

Really disappointed with this one :( all of the other pieces fell together.... BUT THE COFFEE WAS HORRIFIC :( i cant remember what blend they use but we popped in on a Monday arvo. The lady who served us was very switched on and helpful, kudos to her. Nice little place with cute decor and touches. But the barista looked like a edgy hipster who you'd assume can make a good cup of Joe because he lives, eats, breathes coffee right? I'm just joking but really the coffee was almost undrinkable and that's from someone whose been so desperate for a caffeine hit I have drank McDonald's coffee by large before it was 'barista' quality... The blend was completely tasteless. The milk wasnt hot and the coffee was so uncharming we couldn't tell the different between the mocha and the long Mac. I'm serious....
Sorry to be such a scathing potato person but I expected much more from this place as I've heard some great reviews. Toasties were good however and we should've come for tea! (can't believe I just said that due to lack of caffeine but it looked so cute). Better luck next time? :(

Very good coffee. Different flavour when compared Perth cafe's usual offerings (the good coffee places that is) of 5 senses, fiori and even Toby's estate. Depending on which bean, the coffee can take on berry like flavours. Clearly this is a Melbourne outfit. If they just did coffee and some pre-prepared snacks and treats alone they would probably score a 4.

They get a 3.5 based on the food offering. It is ok, but nothing special. The 63 degree eggs aren't bad, but the bread they are on could be more imaginative. The mushrooms on the side come with too much tang. Other food offerings are just ok, but nothing really stands out.

Still if you are going just for a coffee, i recommend dine in. The flat whites seem to be better in the mug. Also not a fan of their long macs.

Architects and Heroes is right around the corner from my work, so I thought I would stop in for a quick lunch. I ordered an iced coffee with ice cream and a panini. The coffee was okay, they didn't add in ice cream which was a bit disappointing and didn't have any ice in it either. The panini was more than disappointing unfortunately! It had lettuce in it which tastes really horrible toasted. The vibe of the place is nice, and I'll try again soon. Hoping I just had a bad experience and it'll be good next time!

We had brunch here today, cute little cafe behind all the road construction. We came at 11 and scored a table straight away. We ordered Spirited Pulled Beef and Pulled Pork with Coleslaw. Both dishes were wonderful and we didn't wait long to receive them. I like the way they serve the tea. Lovely customer service!
Christilyn Carmen
Great service and vibrant food. Had their ice latte with agave syrup which was good! There was too much picked veg in the pulled beef dish and sauce was slightly tangy. Potato galette could have been more crunchy.
Overall, pretty cute spot in subi and has quite different/unique way of presenting food.
Perth Foodaholic
You may or may not have noticed a recent influx in the number of food blogs I have written over the past few weeks. It is not because I have gone on some eating rampage (although I would love to). It is because I am spending the time trying to catch up on some of my older photos and writing posts about them. There are a few blogs that are places I have eaten at recently, but I’ve also scattered in a few oldies. So I do apologise if you are reading my blog and go to a restaurant and the dish that I order is no longer available. One of these places that I visited a while ago is Architects and Heroes. They are located on Rokeby Road and is a small little café which makes some awesome coffee. A friend and I went here for lunch and we order their ribs to share. There was some theatre in the way it was presented. The ribs was served on a wooden platter with a glass closhe over it. Once you lifted the closhe you get a whiff of magical smokiness. The meat was tender and served with coleslaw and daikon. The serving size was not the biggest for the price but it was tasty.
Dizko
The coffee was nice and bold with a slight fruity flavour. Annoying with all the works going on near this place but not a bad looking place with reasonably priced eats as well. All round good
Wintersolstice
Visited for lunch and service was impersonal and haphazard. The wait was long and food kept coming to us that weren't ours. Really disappointed that our coffee was at room temperature. The beef in my pulled beef toastie was sliced and sinewy and wasn't pull-apart tender as one would expect pulled beef to be. The sauerkraut was basically nonexistent so it was just a flavourless toastie. The ploughman's was ok although the accompanying salsa was ice cold, not great for a blustery winter's day.
Bottomlesspit
I only went to Architects and Heroes for a coffee. I was impressed with the service, it was prompt and friendly. Cool looking place too. The coffee was nice, I would of liked it a bit hotter though and I received what was more like a flat white to me rather than a latte. However, their food looks amazing so I would love to come back and have breakfast!
Hippo309
Coffee was good. Love the single origin. Staff know their coffee, and made good recommendations. Service was alright. Would like to go back to try the filter coffee.
Kfawg
Waited 20 minutes for the barista to pour orange juice out of bottle. They seemed to forget our order of drinks and served everyone else first .

The breakfast food was good but not sure if I would come back here again
Dan The Cake Man
Super hip little café that pumps out good music and excellent coffee. Service is efficient with many people stopping by for coffee’s to go. I was in for brekkie, and despite place being busy managed to find one of few tables that are inside after I had placed my order at the counter. Three or four of the items were off the menu including the big brekkie, but decided I would go with the ham hock beans, 63° egg and toast, and a long Mac topped up. Coffee arrived quickly and was excellent, along with tap water. Brekkie arrived with nice portion of beans and was delicious. Lovely ham flavours along with chunks of ham and there was a nice addition of a pickled veggie which cut through the richness of the beans and ham. Toast was nice and crispy and was plenty to soak up the lovely sauce. Loved the brekkie and coffee; I will be back.

Unfortunately this place has gone down hill since what seems to have been a change in ownership. The coffee is no longer anything to write home about, the batch brew in particular is often bitter and over-brewed. Food is okay but doesn’t live up to what it used to be like.
TheSoloAvocado.com
We had lunch here on Monday and enjoyed what we had (more in a minute). However we were greeted with "just to let you know, we didn't get a full delivery this morning so we cant offer you the first two things on the menu or beans as a side". No beans! Dear God how will I cope? Fortunately neither of us wanted salmon or whatever the other thing was and we went on to order. I had smashed avo and eggs done perfectly, while he had scrambled eggs and bacon. But there were no beans! Coffee of course, that was good, but perhaps not the best in Perth ... The service was fast and friendly, in fact there more staff than customers when we arrived. Presentation of the food was great and the taste at least matched. Give it a go.
Billylamb
Came here when it first opened and hadn't been back since until this weekend. It's a busy little café where you can sit or easily take away. In Perth paying $3.90 for a coffee is rare, paying $3.90 for good coffee that comes out quickly with pretty coffee art is a bonus! I haven't tried the food from here so can't review that but would come back for the coffee alone.
Sybarite
The service here was so tired I almost fell asleep. Mates both had smashed avo with cured salmon, dukkah and 63 degree eggs. They rated them 9 and 7.5 out of 10. I had the red velvet waffle (singular) ($18). Beautifully presented however I was still hungry afterwards and promptly went to get more food elsewhere. I was put off by the mascarpone feeling as if it had just come out of the freezer, and the compote was too tart and overpowered the red velvet. Can say I've been, don't plan to re-visit. Most expensive croissants I've ever seen ($7) on display.
E
One of the best coffee shops in Perth! My regular go to! Sparkling water on tap, the bottled iced late and 63 degree eggs are definitely a stand out!
Haynizzle
Pull up a stool at one of the bar tables outside and enjoy the ambience that is Rokeby. Add a coffee, a meal, and some good company or a good book and you're set.

A sprinkle of dukkah on Architects and Heroes' smashed avo with 63-degree eggs adds an exotic flair to an otherwise cliche item on most breakfast menus. Although an extra, the smoked salmon's saltiness sharpened up the dish - well worth it!
Katie Huirong Lim
This place continues to command it's coffee crowd even on a Sunday morning. I likened the non-existence of a dine in queue to their above average priced meals. Don't get me wrong, most tables were taken when I got in at ten to ten. If you want a quick, well-made, simple feed, this is the right place to go. Because most of their meals of quickly prepared and not that sizeable in serving, they are served efficiently. Service was friendly and polite.

Love this place! The coffee is always of such a high standard, and the barista even remembered my name this-morning!! If you're in the area it's definitely worth checking out!!!
PerthfectBreakfast
Valentines with my breakfast buddies at Architects and Heroes was great! The menu had so many interesting options that we were all umming and ahhhing about what to choose. We went for:

*Potato waffle with crumbed pork, japanese curry cream, soft boiled egg and pickles
*Cured salmon with wasabi mascarpone, 63 degree egg on toast and tomatoes
*pulled beef croquettes with kimchi + cheeky side of bacon + hashbrowns

We all enjoyed our dishes and the creativity of them. The stand out was the pulled beef croquettes. The fresh kimchi that came with it was excellent. The salmon was delicious too but a very small serving. Potato waffle was over powered with the curry sauce and out soft boiled egg was overcooked but all in all, pretty good but wouldn't order that dish again. The other two most definitely would eat again/10.

Alot of fancy coffee gadgets in the cafe too. I think they take coffee pretty seriously here.
Dan Bird
Every time I visit this small cafe located along the hipster subi cafe strip I end up rolling away in a big round full state of mind and stomach. While it's very rare to find the cafe in an empty state due to the small area both inside and outside, when the cafe is full it doesn't usually take long to get a table! The cafe is always bustling with a vast range of people from morning runners to business people and the atmosphere is splendid.

Upon my last visit last Saturday, I was delighted to find that they were starting the new menu. I opted for the potato waffle with crumbed pork and a refreshing yuzu iced tea. The food took a while to come out but it was worth the wait! The waffle had a unique taste which was paired with a Japanese style curry sauce. The presentation was incredible and I could not resist bringing my camera with me when visiting!
Emily
I went to this place through a recommendation from a friend and its OK.My main issue is the menu is not really inspiring , small and a bit on the pricey side. I think this is because I'm not into meat for breakfast. Plus im not into the add on thing, just give me an inspiring meal you guys created, not one that I will make and pay more:( I did enjoy the meal tho (smashed avo). I see that they are specialised in types of coffee and if you are into that, this place might be for you but im a regular flat white kind of gal.I might try you guys for lunch and ill get a brisket roll which sounds yummy:)

Went for a quick breakfast and coffee this morning before heading to work. I've been a couple of times before and it's been great in the past, however they forgot to put the food order through today and by the time we asked about it we were already running late for work. Bit of a let down with the experience but coffee was phenomenal as usual.
Emily Tan
Been here for coffee before but not their breakfast and therefore decided to try out their food. Their full breakfast has 63degree egg on toast, bacon, mushroom, chipolata, hashbrown and beans. Hash brown and bacon were added-on for smashed avocado on toast with salad and egg. Love the way they cooked the egg, 63 degree that the yolk is neither cooked nor runny... just nice to spread on the toast and not making any mess. However the hash brown was too crispy, in a way that it crumbled when it was cut. And also, no changes could be made to the menu items... They have a good range of teas if you are a tea drinker.
The Perth Brunch Blonde
After months of having this on my to-visit list, I finally patronised Architects & Heroes ( termed A&H for short throughout this post ) yesterday morning. I have quite a few thoughts and comments on this place. This will be more apparent as you read down the post. As a simple introduction I’ll throw out some key words that come to mind about my experience at A&H – creative, busy, friendly, alright.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
I can only review the coffee at this stage but boy oh boy - that is one strong and delicious brew! The last time I visited they had run out of soy milk, but the barista promised me the blend was smooth enough to drink black. He was so right! To the sweet loving fans - try the lemon tea cake. It was divine. I'll be back to try the breakfast menu, it looks fantastic.
Monmon
Superb!! Their ham and cheese croissants are soo good! Nice coffee too.. Ordered big breakfast and it was so good. $22 for big breakkie, not too bad. But the portion was quite small. Definitely will come back again!
Ian G
Excellent coffee. Try the espresso special. Busy. No muffins so the Lycra brigade dissuaded. What else is there to say about a small cafe.

OnePointFive
Originally wanted to order Avocado on Toast but ended up ordering Fish Cake instead. Was quite surprise when it came out, fish cake was massive! It's tasty, filling and comes with nice tartare sauce. Not a big fan of radicchio but it's edible. Sweet potato crisps tasted like those you can buy from supermarkets? Not sure why they don't put chocolate powder on cappuccino, it became more like flat white. Anyway, it's nice coffee, liked it. Will come back one day to try other interesting dishes.
Perth_lady_likes_coffee
Have had many a great long blacks here since they opened but came in about a month ago for a meal for the first time and boy was I pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Fried Bao with pork belly and it was SO DELICIOUS! I am such a fan of asian food but rarely do cafes and restaurants get the flavours and textures balanced right! I also ordered their sparkling cold brew and it was one of the most delicious cold brews I've ever had with a burnt caramel toffee start and light floral notes to end. Staff were friendly too! Winner winner pork dinner ;)
The Engineer Eats
Architects and Heroes located on Rokeby Road is an extremely popular breakfast/brunch joint judging from the 45 minutes wait for a two seater one Saturday morning my sister and I ventured to Subiaco to check the cafe out. The place was packed! Pictures of the dishes from Architects and Heroes have been flooding social media and they looked so good! Come and eat me, they said! Here we are *wave*
Daniel
Did you guys change chefs? because the I've been here before in the past and it was a great experience but last weekend when I came here with friends, i was bitterly disappointed. Waited almost 40 min for our food, the waiters weren't helpful, bacon was cold, steak sandwich was below average. Sorry but won't be coming back again.
Georgia
Coffee is always great here. They have a nice little selection of toasters and donuts as well as a full breakfast menu.
It's a small spot so often busy but worth a visit!
CiderCraze
Beautiful coffee, went there on a Sunday and it was packed. They certainly know what they are doing. Would love to go back to try the breakfast dishes next time.
Peter J Morgan
I wont be going back. The coffee was good but cold and the male cashier was friendly. The waitress was rude and there was not high chair for our baby. Worst of all we didn't receive our food because they had clearly forgotten about it and kept us waiting half an hour when we were not that busy and had a we had a show to go to in the theatre next door. We were given a refund on our food but they didn't refund the coffee which I would have done if was my business. Epic fail :(
Irene Khoo
Great coffee! Had lunch here with a couple of friends and we were all impressed with their drinks. Food was good too and the portion size was fine. This place is a little expensive but pretty on par with most places around.
Little Food Adventures
Food isn't bad and coffee is good. Small servings but large prices (it is Subiaco after all). The atmosphere is nice (the place isn't too big so finding a seat can be difficult during peak hours ) Will be back but not so often.
Tegan Serene Wakefield
This place is pretty much my spirit animal. Amazing coffee and service to die for. The only down fall is that its a tiny space. But good things come in small packages.
Thefunkychicken
DON'T BOTHER! ACTUALLY, AVOID WHERE POSSIBLE.
Staff not too friendly.
Ordered 62deg eggs, they came out COLD.
Passed this along after I choked down my COLD & BARELY COOKED eggs, "I'll tell the chef" was the only response.
I would've hoped that 62deg eggs would've been served somewhere close to 62deg eggs.
Will NOT be going back.
Came here for breaky about a month ago. Staff were not very accomodating, as we stood outside and asked for them to let us know when a table for 4 became available. After about half an hour we ended up finding our own table as they clearly forgot about us. Food was great though!
Jade Barnett
Went here after hearing good reviews. Disappointed is what I got. Staff were not very accommodating. My friend likes to ask questions about the food and the staff gave off the impression as though she was annoying them. The menu states that you can not make any changes and I asked about the eggs as I like them well done to which I was advised that I could have scrambled instead of 63degree eggs with my dukkah and smashed avo. My dish came out with just scrambled eggs on toast. I then asked where my dukkah and smashed avo was. The girl took my plate away and in return I got the exact same dish on the menu with 63degree eggs which I couldn't eat. My watermelon fruit juice did not taste good. It was as though the watermelons were off. There was a lot of dirty plates sitting about also instead of being taken to the back. Would not rush back.
Cassie
Tried their 63 degree egg and it wasn't to my liking, it just tasted like undercooked egg to me. Their smashed avocado dish was okay otherwise, with quite a lemony taste to the avocado. They have stools instead of chairs and I found it somewhat uncomfortable to sit on after a while.
Triple_V
Came here and found out that there's nothing much special about this place. It's only their 63 degree eggs that brings people here. Overall is just average. That's it really..

Coffee ok food below average. Dried up bacon claiming to be elmars? o yer I'm still waiting for my butter thank you.

A place that offers a perfectly cooked full breakfast even at 2pm, this is definitely my thing! I loved how they were able to make everything just so perfectly crispy, especially the hash browns. The baked beans was a nice touch to a greasy meal, and the sourdough toast was made perfectly. My friend loved her avocado on toast too. The only downside is the limitation of the menu. Although the food tasted great, the menu itself appeared to be rather mediocre and meagre. I mean for a six page menu there's only half a page on food......that's not offering a lot of choices.
Food 2 Run
Rate it... Busy Saturday morning and coffee a long mac was excellent and breakfast was delicious....Staff magic, clean and well worth a visit.....

Have been here twice now - last time was 2 months ago. The coffee is always wonderful, the food is always delicious, they make even the simplest breakfast full of flavour. They come up with some awesome original menu ideas as well. Their slow poached eggs are amazing. This is one of my favourite places to go for breakfast, will definitely be going back though I hope this new chef isn't as bad as mentioned in a previous review!

Whilst everyone seems to be chowing down on the newest Melbourne craze of Nutella doughnuts, west side the locals are still celebrating the introduction of “Melbourne coffee” from the high frothed cappuccinos that used to be Perth’s typical hot beverage. And, if we are drawing comparisons, then perhaps I should also mention that they say Subiaco is like Chapel Street. It’s not. There is far less happening here during the day, and far more happening on its night spot strip giving all of Perth its entertainment if you are willing to queue.

Coffee was good but small, the cups were difficult to use and the eggs were not nice! I was with a table of foodies and we all went home unimpressed. The avocado was nice and the bacon was good but would we all go again... Never! Sadly the reputation exceeded the actual experience and the setting was good. The table displays were quirky and cool. The service was acceptable other than when we asked for the sauce on the side the person takin the order soda yes then they delivered it to inform us they don't vary the dish from the menu. That came across as rude. Overall I think there is much better out there with less effort!

I read on the Facebook page that there is a new chef,I was keen to see what he/she brought to the table…literally!. Since my previous visit, there have been changes to the menu and I must say, I struggled to pick something I wanted from their winter menu. Last time, I couldn’t decide so this is a different experience.

Architects & Heroes has been on the list for awhile now after seeing pictures of their Red Velvet Pancakes flood my instagram feed. Their Pannacotta looked really tempting as well!

This place is really nice! Food is delicious. I tried the pana cotta garden and a bagel, both are to die for. Their presentation is also really cute :) Serving sizes aren't huge but the taste made up for it for me. The menu is also slightly limited though the options available are worth a try.
On one occasion however the staff member behind the counter was a bit rude when I asked about the possible restocking of their bagels which had run out by the time I had got there (lunch time). Plus their lack of takeaway options is slightly frustrating. I would recommend this place highly though if you get in early and are lucky enough to get a table.
MEGA FOODIE
Went for breakfast and what a very LONG wait! Very overrated food and overpriced! I will not be returning as it's very simple food I could do better at home. Toast was very burnt and avacado was off. Not a happy customer

Not as great as the photos. Waited 40 minutes for a cold breakfast, that was marketed as a 'full breakfast' but would barely fill a grown man. The bread piece that I received was the size of a child's fist.... 100% not worth $22 and the wait. Giving it a 1.5 due to the fact that the coffee was okay.

Very limited seats at this quaint cafe, but the food is always so colourful and inviting! The portions seem to have improved for sure, recently came back to try their new menu, and it's honestly so good! More on the pricier side though, but all day brunch is always a bonus 😍

Lovely little place in Subi. The layout is small but so cool, the service there was averagely good, with one of the staff (who I feel was the manager) being very welcoming and helpful. I expected the place to be busy and it was, but tables open up pretty fast. I ordered the Pulled Beef Roll with the Watermelon, Feta and Mint salad and it was 👍🏻😍
I recommend the coffee to EVERYONE.

Saw this on Instagram and went to tried out, unexpected surprise! Food is great and delicious and coffee is great, good environment for individuals or groups to dine in. Recommended!!!

Architects and Heroes have mastered the art of plating; their dishes are aesthetically pleasing. However, I find that the dishes are quite pricey and portion size to be too small. The hot chocolate had a slightly bitter taste which I really liked, and was not too rich. The ribs were coated with a sweet and sticky bourbon glaze which was finger-lickingly good, and they were tender and falling off the bone. Plating of the red velvet pancakes was was absolutely stunning, and tasted just as good. The pancakes were fluffy and had chocolate chips through it. Although there were quite a few sweet elements in the dish: syrup, white chocolate and pashmak, the dish was well balanced as the pancakes were not very sweet and the fresh strawberries provided a hint of tartness.

So disappointing!!! Coffee was ok but breakfast was atrocious. Eggs had no flavor and bacon was the worst bacon I have ever tasted before. Never going back. Ever.

Amazing coffee. Looking forward to going back for breakfast. Bit awkward as nowhere to stand and wait for coffee. Always seems packed so hope I can get a seat!

Coffee is alright, no milk or added flavor to over throw that coffee taste. Well done for that. Price was okay. Service was quick. Great for a quick take away coffee take away.
Eight Seconds Of Food
Dropped by for a quick brekky and was lucky to get a table without having to wait too long.
I ordered the 63º egg with smashed avocado which was done perfectly and went really well with the aerated hollandaise. Definitely one of the top smashed avo dishes I've had in Perth.
My partner had the pea and ham soup which was a good winter warmer dish with a generous serving size.
Coffee was excellent as usual.
Wanted to try their famous red velvet pancakes which I see on Instagram all the time but was too full.

I had such high hopes for this place, but it was just so average. I hate the tiny share tables which make you feel like you're eating on top of other people, and there seems to be a bit of an over-cooking problem with the scrambled eggs, and the pancakes. It's a shame. It's not terrible, but it's certainly nothing special.
Frosty
Great coffee but terrible hot chocolate and chai! Also, these guys don't offer normal cream cheese with bagels- only jalapeño or salmon- which doesn't go very well with a blueberry bagel!
Raul
Thought I should see if the crowds at the front were worth it so went for lunch today. By 1pm they had run out of 2 of the rolls which was unfortunate as they sounded nice. Decided to see what their smashed avo eggs were like and despite the long wait, was very happy. One disappointment when you wait a long time is getting semi warm food meaning it's been sitting there a long time. Coffee was very nice. Will give them another go.

After driving pass on Saturday and saw they were busy so I thought the food and coffee must be good. Then I and my friend went there today. We had coffee and a brownie. We both felt they were nothing special. The coffee was alright but not outstanding as we expected and the brownie was so so. Anyway, we will go back to try their food soon.
Ps: the parking at Wilson opposite the cafe is $8 per hour so be prepared.

Join the que. It's worth it! Best coffee ever! They use the good milk! Deliver the good water for free as well. No wonder this place is going OFF every single day. It's like your favourite nightclub just during the day. All the cool kids are there. When we have managed to squeeze a table for the 5 of us, our Vik, 16, cool fashion sense and Down Syndrome, all wrapped up in a package make us the coolest group there. Shame the rest if us lack his cool.
I grabbed a quick take away long mac last week and was blown away by the beautiful coffee, possibly the best coffee I have had in Perth. If their coffee is anything to go by their food will be spectacular, can't wait to make a breakfast trip.

Their coffee is to die for however when I asked if they had Almond milk the said yes but refused to put it in my coffee when I asked why their response was "because we don't like to" I though that was a little weird as it should be what the customer wants & enjoys. Also not good if you have a pram!!

Came here for a Sunday brunch. It looked a little busy but since we didn't mind sharing a table (must be a given with a small venue like this) it wasn't much of a wait.
My boyfriend and I shared red velvet pancakes and the full breakfast. The pancakes were great and the fairy floss was a nice touch. The full breakfast was ok. The 63 degree eggs were beautiful. The sausages and the bean dish looked like what you find at a breakfast buffet in a hotel. Cooked in advanced and left in the bain marie, meaning they were a bit dried out.
For drinks my bf ordered a cappuccino which we were told in advanced that there won't be any chocolate dusting. What came out was a flat white look a like (but hey what do we know about coffee. Maybe that's what the authentic cappuccino looks like) it tasted great though. I have to say cup was weird. The finger hole was so tiny it was awkward to hold. I had the almond and honey iced latte. I did not like this at all. It was too over powering of the almond flavour and could barely taste the coffee or the honey.

The food came to just over $55. I guess that's average for a Perth gourmet breakfast?
Will I come back? Probably but I'll wait for the next seasonal menu to try something new

Amazing coffee! Best mocha in Perth. Great breakfast (avocado smash with 64 degree eggs.) Staff are very helpful and have great attention to detail. Place is incredibly popular - get in early or be prepared to wait!
