We dined at catch on the 7th august as we were guests in the hotel. I'd made a reservation the night before for catch restaurant as they did an amazing deal if you dine before 7pm you got a free bottle. We had the sparkling wine which was really nice. Our waitress Kay was exceptional, very friendly helped us with information with the area and provided fabulous recommendations on the menu. I mentioned in our reservation it was my sisters 18th to which I was very surprised that they had noted this down and they brought out a complimentary dessert with candles. For our mains my sister had Cajun chicken and I had the mushroom tortellini the main size. The food was unbelievable. Perfect sized portions and very well presented. To our surprise also the chefs brought out an entree which was something that was not on the menu and to be honest it was something I would never order but it was amazing, we ate every bit. Dwain I believe is the manager who also provided fabulous recommendations with dessert was also very friendly and very professional. I was very surprised to see the restaurant so quite as the food is absolute 5**. The menu is quite small, there are many seafood options and a good verity of meats to choose so I believe the menu is perfectly balanced. Once again exceptional service from Kay and Dwain and the chefs also did above and beyond. Would recommend catch restaurant and I will certainly revisit in the future.
Amazing food, fantastic service, perfect casual yet sophisticated atmosphere. Kudos to the chef who worked dinner service on Thursday 2nd April. The eye fillet was the best we had ever had. Cooked perfectly according to our preferences and immaculate flavour! Sides, desserts and wine all A+ also. Fantastic all round, including the service from our fabulous waiter! Will definitely come again and tell our friends also. Can't recommend highly enough.
Service was exceptional, was well looked after by the staff. The meals were tasty & cheeky dessert mmmm wonderful! Defeinately will be dining there again!
Food was great. My favourite was the dish of the month. Dessert. The Tomato Tarte Tain, basil custard, fig ice cream and amaretti crumb was an explosion of taste. Every single bite was just amazing. Who would of thought of eating tomato in a dessert? Just brilliant. Thank you.
Excellent food and service! Special shout out to Ann, Johnny and Matthew!
The food was exceptional. It was cooked to perfection and the flavours were amazing. The staff were amazing. Restaurant has great ambiance and a fresh look. Do your self a favour and check it out. We will be back.
Brilliant, Kay was excellent, took photos and gave brilliant service.
Loved everything! Definitely coming back! Thank you!

Top staff, great feed & cocktails. Cheers mangan !!
Special thanks to Ann who ensembles true values of Hilton hospitality at the temporary executive lounge at the Catch and for serving us at dinner over a few nights while we were staying at the Hilton Residence Surfers Paradise.. Food was great, fantastic recommendations as we were seafood lovers. Oysters were fresh and seafood platters were amazing for sharing .. Thank you Ann from our family , we hope to come back very soon!
We loves surfers paradise and visit quite often. Tries Catch for dinner on our previous visit. Amazing service staff and great food. Definitely recommending their lamb cutlets and dessert- yoghurt sorbet.
My husband & I dined here for an anniversary dinner. It was a lovely, relaxed, fine dining experience. Clean & tastefully decorated. The service was friendly & attentive for the few hours we were there from start to finish. We didn't feel rushed, even though our dessert was being ordered close to closing time. Waitresses were giving us recommendations on the menu, which was nice, sometimes it's hard choose. The gnocchi entree, wow, wow, wow!!!! So delicious & freshly made. Combined with a simple corn, asparagus, zucchini, parmesan & truffle combo it was taste perfection!
So we had, toasted Turkish fingers with olive oil & balsamic, & olives on the side. The turkish fingers baked fresh, were soooo soft & that fresh bread smell 🤩 Haloumi fries, tempura barramundi soft taco, chargrilled barramundi, grain fed scotch fillet, finished off with cappuccinos, churros & beer battered apple fritters 👌👌👌👌 not one complaint! Everything was divine!!!! The food was presented beautifully too. We would definitely go back for more. Thank you!
Great service, good quality seafood which you expect from a fine dining restaurant. We especially loved the grilled prawns in the seafood platter, so fresh and sweet char grilled to perfection. The waitress who served us was very attentive and provide pretty much everything she could find to prevent the little ones from being bored, that’s good customer service, and did I mention the food is very good?
Great breakfast spread and good pricing for family with kids. Although they only have machine coffee included with breakfast buffet, and I had to separately order gourmet coffee, which was a bit disappointing...
The service is fantastic and very attentive and the food is delicious! Every single dish we all had was fantastic, I had the oysters kilpatrick, prawns and pork loin plus dessert and every course left us wanting more! All the elements worked well on each plate and fundamentally I would say this is the best food I have eaten in Surfers Paradise and I will definitely be returning while I’m here!
Had a fantastic dinner here with my boyfriend. The ambience was fantastic, classy but not tacky and the lighting was very easy on the eyes. Our service was impeccable and our server was nothing but polite and attentive (without being annoyingly so) and was happy to answer any questions we had or fulfill our requests. My meal was fabulous, I got the scotch fillet with cajun potato skins and garlic butter and it was one of the best steaks I've had in my life, cooked to perfection and very juicy and tender. My boyfriend got chargrilled baramundi and I heard nothing but positivity from him as well. We shared an entree, got a main each and didn't end up getting dessert, plus our drinks and a tip for our waitress made about $115 but if you're looking for a fancier night it's well worth it.
Went to Catch for a date night without any preconceived expectations. The restaurant was nicely presented and the service attentive. Ordered the wild mushroom tortellini for the entree - it was the best dish by far! Overall a great spot for dates and celebrations.
Admittedly I went some time ago and for a special event, but Luke Mangan is a real food artist, creative, sensual and mysterious. Choose wine accompaniments with care, a different setting for each act, and it is hard to imagine that you could do anything but enter the vestibule of paradise, as long as he retains mastery of his art form... not good, but great! Of course, you will have to pay for the experience, but short of travel and airfares you are unlikely to encounter anything nearby to compare :)
We enjoyed a relaxed evening here with great service. Our food was prepared & presented well with no long waits between courses. For entree i ordered the skewered fish cake which came with a pleasant enough chilli jam (however it didn't pack enough punch for me) but the fishcake was delicious, fluffy inside with a light crunchy crumb. My confit salmon was perfectly complimented with pickled cucumbers & a zesty wasabi cream. A glass of bubbly (Little Leaf sparkling) finished off the evening nicely
Fantastic food as always! My partner and I prefer the 7 course degustation for a bit of variety and the combination of dishes was perfect- each dish complimented the next. Our waiter Sean added to the experience- it's always refreshing being served by some one who respects you and treats you as their priority. 10/10 experience! Thanks Luke!
Had dinner here one night I was too tired to leave hotel and breakfast every morning as its included in my stay. Amazing food - the fish was cooked to perfection and truffled mash was amazing. Breakfast staff were hit and miss but overall nice restaurant
Food = 4.95
Service = 2.15
Ambience = 3.75
I gave it a four, because the food was great. Rib eye was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Calamari entree is 'peppery' but still delicious. Red wine way too expensive. And the room didn't quiet have that $250 per couple dinner vibe. Plus they say everyone in the restaurant together. Could have spread us outa little.
My first time at a Luke Mangan restaurant and I was beyond impressed! We chose the 7 course degustation menu, to make sure we did not miss out on trying Luke’s signature dishes. Although we had absolutely no room in our bellies for the cheeses, every other dish we tried was incredible. The...
Meals we mostly good. One bad meal with Mushrooms however the staff on the floor made up for it. They were very friendly, helpful and prompt
Another dish of Crumbed Buffalo Mozzarella, charred asparagus and truffle oil featured just two simple spears of asparagus atop a small ball of crumbed mozzarella. When cut, the cheese was soft and chewy without oiliness. A tangy grape chutney provided a contrast to the cheese and asparagus. Wagyu short rib in a sticky chilli jus was tender and incredibly rich. The papaya, peanut and pickled cucumber salad freshened the dish with the perfect spicy citrus dressing that left the lips humming and coming back for more.....
Came here for their breakfast buffet. Had pastries, fruit, egg station, Asian station, meats, bacon and your normal breakfast options such as hash browns mushrooms etc. Great food, and attentive staff!
Amazing!! So delicious an everything was cooked to perfection, had the grilled barramundi with spinach and smoked tomato caper salsa was super fresh an tasty. Lamb cutlets an truffle mash also amazing.
Take the promotion advantage of weekday special, dined in this one-hatted restaurant located at Hilton Surfers Paradise. For the price of $49 two courses + glass of wine, there is absolutely no complaint at all. I like the set-up of open kitchen so I can visually appreciate the chefs running the show while I am having my delicious meals in the grand dining room. It is a pleasure. Wait- staff are all well trained with friendly service. I highly recommend this bargain deal to you.

Really enjoyed my experience here. It was a Monday and there was a very relaxed feel the service was excellent, the food was really nice. All in all I would definitely go back again. I thought the price was ok too.
Amazing food and service. I go repeatedly to Salt Grill for their exceptional food. I can't go past the tempura prawns for entree and the fish to share for main. Staff are always attentive and friendly. A lovely ambience, and it's great to go to the bar next door prior to going to the restaurant for a cocktail. A great night out.
Great wine list , great food . Went here last minute on a Sunday night and throughly enjoyed it all . Will definitely be going back
All class in tacky town!. Thank you Luke Mangan, loved Salt Grill the menu was great and we loved every offering. I had what was the best Salmon I have ever had... And I eat it allot... My sons rib eye was perfectly cooked... Hope to get back before we leave the Coast
Absolutely loved this place. Came here for a Christmas Eve dinner, the food was outstanding but our waiter, Pula was the standout for the night, easily the funniest guy we've met up on the Goldy and someone needs to give this guy a raise! Highly recommend if you're happy to part with a bit of cash you definitely get what you pay for, expensive yet outstanding.
Perfect anniversary dinner. My partner and I were struggling to find a nice restaurant for our anniversary in Surfers when the concierge mentioned Salt Grill. We decided to check it out because it was in walking distance from the hotel. Well, we were not let down. Everything was spot on from the food to the ambience and everything in between, but what really stood out was the attentiveness and efficiency of staff. Our waitress was so brilliant, always filling our glasses or bread basket. I had ordered an entree and my partner hadn't, so she provided him with a small amuse bouche free of charge. Little things like that can definitely alter an experience and she went out of her way to make sure we and other patrons really thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We were very impressed and will be recommending this restaurant to anyone we know who is travelling to the Gold Coast.
Wow. Tonight had 5 course degustation. Could not fault the whole 5 parts on the menu. Perfect from start to finish. Will be back next time I'm in the GC.
Worth a visit!. We did have a high expectation of Salt Grill when we first booked in to have a dinner here. The reviews on urban spoon were lukewarm but pay no heed to those. Seems they were written by people who love to whinge, or maybe just had a bad day! We found the ambience lovely, staff courteous and warm, chefs professional, especially considering their whole act was on public display, and most of the food was faultless. We would highly recommend this place to anyone! I tried the Veggie mains: Grilled veg, quinoa and curried coconut cream which seemed to be the only dish that was a bit lacklustre. My wife's steamed Barramundi was faultless, so was the highlight Luke's signature Hiramasa Kingfish Sashimi. The deal was sealed after I had Luke's liquorice parfait, lime syrup and tuile! A beautifully created heavenly dessert! Will have to go back to try Luke's crab omelette!
Went here despite low urbanspoon rating. Y'all must be trippin - food here was awesome! Highlights were kingfish, bbq chicken, steak tartare and the most tender calamari I have ever eaten
Had dinner here with family last night. Nice decor, good service, good food. Everyone enjoyed their meal!
Omg the crab omelette!!. Dined here with 2 girlfriends for an early Sunday evening....sometimes sundays can be a bit dodgy (you get the under study) but was really happy with our meals here....theres an early bird special running sun-thurs that I took advantage of ( 2 courses + glass wine for $45), one friend went straight for a lovely fillet steak and the other had an assortment of tapas in lieu of a main...finished off with 2 desserts to share. Service was good and the place was perhaps 1/3 to 1/2 full on a cold rainy surfers evening:(
Ive got to say...I nailed it by choosing the crab omelette - it was the nicest thing Ive had for years...the flavours full and fresh....my main was OK, I ordered gnocchi with vegetables...the gnocchi itself was good but the veggies were a little large and ?reheated but not pan fried like the gnocchi and for me the whole dish just didnt gel but it was tasty enough (had been tossing up getting the minute steak...should have chosen that). My friends fillet was delicious! So good...expensive but hey Ive paid a little less at the pub for a crap pedestrian steak...this was sublime and worth every cent! My Tapas friend was happy with her choices...she especially liked the scallop with pea and chorizo..enjoyed the zucchini flower and croquettes...we had a lovely temperanillo to accompany all this, decanted (nice touch) and finished with a fantastic chocolate souffle and churro's. I had a lovely Toby's estate coffee to finish. Bill was as expected, and given the service, wine and food, just fine. Not cheap but at a celebrity chef restaurant at the Hilton Hotel, we didnt expect it to be. I didnt find the service pompous or uppity. I would not suggest the booths though...a little soft and we sat pretty low and deep on them..a redesign would be good. Dont quite understand the low score on urbanspoon for this place. Glad we chanced it. All depends on what you expect I guess.
Salt was amazing! After reading the reviews, we decided to stop in just for tapas and have dinner somewhere else. The service was fantastic and every bite was heaven in my mouth. We had the wagyu beef with green papaya salad, the scallop with pea purée and chorizo, potato croquettes with pesto, and the tomatoes with feta and basil. They gave us fresh bread with olive oil and dukkah to start with. It was a little overpriced and the portions small but the tastes of each dish was incredible and definitely worth a night of pure indulgence. I only wish we could have stayed for the full dinner experience. Here's to next time
Delicious. I had tampura prawn entree,salmon and quail egg ,and finished with a creme brûlée , it was fantastic and I'd go back ,excellent service,and meals came out at the right time each course , yummy !!!
I visited for an early dinner at around 6.30 on a Friday evening. The restaurant had only a few tables occupied at that time, but gradually filled over the next couple of hours.
Staff were friendly and efficient. A basket with two kinds of fresh bread was bought to my table, and there was no problem when I asked for butter instead of the Luke Mangan olive oil.
I had a nice crumbed ballotine of quail, and the rib eye for main. The $60 price for the steak was a bit excessive (after all it is the Gold Coast) but the steak was good. Mains come with green beans, and they suggested the truffled mash as a side disk. This was smooth and truffle-flavored, but a bit too buttery.
Overall good service and food, and convenient If staying at the Hilton and not wanting to chance the surrounding Surfers seediness!
Also visited for breakfast the next day (included with my stay), and have to mention the best hotel breakfast sausages I've had in a long time (chunky pork, rather that the usual bland buffet offerings).
Must Do Degustation.. I didn't read the reviews before my partner and I dined here, and I am so glad I didn't.
My partner and I both got the degustation admit was surpurb! It was fairly priced and each dish was decadent and well presented. Food came out at a nice pace.
They were also very accommodating of my dietary requirements, and fulfilled them with no fuss. At some restaurants they sometimes make me feel uncomfortable about them, especially when ordering something like a dego menu, but not here.
We had such a great dinner, that I think we will definitely be making the trip back from Brisbane as we really enjoyed it that much.
My husband & I dined here while we were staying at the Hilton. I was a bit worried after reading others' poor reviews but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was a bit slow at the start but afterwards things came quickly. The gnocchi for entrees was delicious as well as the pork belly & BBQ chicken for mains. The desserts were also out of this world! Totally recommend it especially if you are staying at the Hilton, you won't regret it.
We had the $20 Friday lunch menu - main course and glass of wine. Snapper was very tasty and the truffle fries were delicious. Great service from the team of friendly wait staff too.
Although each dish was balanced in flavour and perfectly cooked, it was the vegetables which showed off the international standard of this restaurant. The truffled potato mash was silky smooth; saucing of the gnocchi exciting; the quenelles of carrot a rich burst of seamlessly textured flavour. Just exquisite!
Yes, prices are steep, the mark up on wine excruciating, however this is a special occasion restaurant with some beautifully cooked cuisine, a relaxed unstuffy atmosphere where most diners would feel comfortable, and if you want a splurge, why not enjoy sampling some of the fine wines in the separate tasting room.
