Very good service everyone there is very friendly. We took several different starters and they were all very good. As main, I took the duck which was very good and very big. And for desert, we took the cheesecake that was delicious.
Baccomoto Osteria sits right below the Cambridge Hotel on Riley Street, and it looks like they provide breakfast for the hotel guests. In the evenings, it’s been a reliable dining choice for many years for folks from the neighbourhood, no small feat when thinking about how quickly other restaurants have come and gone. The space is open and with little decor, but it seems cosy enough anyways, with the bar in the centre of the space (where people can also sit and eat).
This restaurant has a one hat from Goodfood and for Goodreason! We walked in at 6.30 on a Monday night and happily got a table straight away without a booking. The ambience is low key, low light and very lovely.
The staff are fast and efficient, there are plenty of them and it's very easy to get their attention when required.
We had the $20 pasta e vino special and it was excellent. The pasta was cooked perfectly how I like it al dente and the sauce was rich but used sparingly just how it should be. We had a caprese salad too - if there was a tiny negative from my hubby it would be not enough tomato slices or crisps for the amount of cheese but for me no problem as I love buffalo mozzarella. We had a white and a red with the meal deal and both were of a great standard.
Also had the nougat semifreddo for dessert - beautifully creamy ice cream and punchy fresh peaches.
This is a beautiful little place and we would return in a heartbeat next time we visit Sydney. Definitely recommend a visit.
Have been here four times now and still keep coming back. Very nice place to dine in. Love the drinks here specially the dirty martini. The lamb is the best!
Wow! Thank you for a fabulous night! One of best Italian restaurant experiences we've had to date. Beautiful modern decor, warm ambience, delicious food, and faultless service.
This lovely restaurant has a wonderful bar smack bang in the middle of it where you can have a casual bite and drink or dine in one of the regular tables and chairs or ones with banquette seating.
It was quiet when we had lunch here and the service was superb. The ladies serving us were so friendly and accommodating. Felt like we were part of the family when we arrived. They made sure the courses were staggered as one of the party was arriving later.
We had a variety of dishes including Caprese Salad. It had a rich and creamy bufala cremoso and this was the centrepiece of the dish.
We continued with Roasted Duck Breast, Roman Lamb Shoulder, and Maccheroni, Veal & Porcini Ragu. The plates were beautifully presented. The duck was delicious and cooked well. Lamb was melt in the mouth and so tasty. The pasta was moreish and had a rich flavour to it. The Grape, Parmesan & Cos Salad was crisp and interesting with the grapes.
Finished with Nougat Semifreddo & Tiramisu. The semifreddo was nice and creamy and the peaches gave it texture. The tiramisu had a great balance of cake, mascarpone, and coffee flavour.
Overall it was a fantastic meal with equally great service.
Bellissimo! The beetroot spaghetti was so good I'm now questioning if I've ever really had good spaghetti? Delicious Italian dishes served by staff who know exactly what to recommend. Better be quick though as the best dishes do run out...
The cheese and cured meat are sensational especially the spicy salami and the staff are very informative. Wine list is great but could do with a better selection of sparkling wines. The Salmon tartar infused with passion fruit is to die for. A wonderful meal with great ambience and good service.
It was a spur of the moment decision to eat out. I rang them from the pub and lucky enough there was a table for two available in 10 mins.
We started with mozzarella and cured meat, both fresh and tasty. I had seafood pasta for main and hubby had pork ragu pasta which was a bit fatty for my liking. We both had red wine from Tuscany. Total bill came to $120 for two. Not exactly cheap and cheerful, but it was decent food and service.

You are lucky if your a local as you can easily head to this cool restaurant / bar every week. Its stylish but neighbourly, buzzy yet can be romantic. Cosy up at the bar or for a quick bite, or get a table & enjoy a leisurely meal with friends. Its spacious you can even take your kids there. The staff is helpful & there are plenty of good Italian wine to try by the glass. Food is classics with a modern twist & all are hearty & delicious. I found it to be a little heavy for my tastes but thats just personal preference as it is evident that good quality & cooking have gone into the dishes. All the fried starters are delicious, addictive & perfect appetisers with your glass of vino.
Fantastic food and service, enjoyed the whole dining experience from entree to dessert, every dish was outstanding. Tables easily fully booked out but sitting at the bar was still pleasant. Not cheap but worth the price.
For Valentine’s Day this year (well technically the night before Valentine’s Day), Lex and I decided to try out Baccomatto Osteria in Surry Hills. I had been looking forward to visiting all week as I had spent some time on their website and the photos were drool-worthy. We were happily greeted by the personable host and ushered to our table. The set up of Baccomatto is unique, elegant and modern. It serves upmarket Italian cuisine in a trendy, modern restaurant with a marble bar (gorgeous!) and a bustling vibe.

What a pleasing surprise to visit this new restaurant in Surry Hills. Carol greeted us at the door and from there on it was a gastro journey. Will return for more........
Loved everything about this place. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel like we were at home. It felt like I was being served by my mum but still with upmost professionalism. We had a booking for 4 so were offered the table but decided to sit at the bar, which they were more than happy with and was very inviting.
Food was excellent. We had their house made pate (one of the best I've had) and shared some other stuff. Mains were great too.
Not cheap but it shouldn't be. Thought the food was priced well. Thanks for a great night, we'll be back.
We had an enjoyable Sunday night meal, good choice of mains and a warm modern environment. Tiramisu is a little light and sweet for my liking, but otherwise recommended and good prices.
Great ambiance, service was lovely. Id definitly recommend the chicken liver parfait to start off with, and their antipasto. WE ordered the antipasto for the foccacia bread that it comes with, and it is amazing. Had the spicy salumi which def had a kick to it, probably a bit too spicy for me, and the mortadella which i enjoyed. Lamb osso bucco was tender and served with a delicious creamy polenta. The ragu pasta was nice, but like another reviewer mentioned i felt that the pasta dishes could've done with a bit more cooking. I like al dente, but not borderline undercooked.
I don't know if the reviews below are for the correct venue? It's not at all expensive. Standard main meal prices. $50 a head including wine is quite the norm. Probably the Groupon mentality distorting the market.
It's one of the better fit outs I've seen, particularly given its a commercial building tenancy.
Food was good, service was excellent. Hidden gem sums it up!

Ensconced near the windows, I’m barely able to suppress my grin as two Darlo designer-hipsters enter. With sharply cropped hair, asymmetric black clothing and post- Birkenstock footwear technology, they could have been lifted directly from Unhappy Hipsters . Their aesthetic is perfect for Mauro Marcucci’s new café-come-restaurant, a minimalist Mecca of smooth concrete, shiny metal and exposed soundproofing. By contrast the service is as warm as the afternoon sun, down to homey cross-strapped khaki aprons. Their wearers guide you through a simple menu of small-sized snacks, from boards of cured meats and cheeses to Zucchini Flowers ($4.50) and...

Italia comes to Sydney - food, family, ambience - the perfect dining equation. Perfect food and service - both with genuine warmth, love and passion (and beautifully fresh ingredients)! Thank you for creating a truly memorable and wonderful experience :) .. and a special thanks to Elena who looked after us like long lost relatives ♥
Pretty good, could use a menu expansion. Came late, so I called the restaurant to inform them (it was a Monday night), and ended up even able to order our entres over the phone as I had an appointment elsewhere to get to. Owner Michael seemed friendly and helpful.
Service was good, food was pretty good. 8/10
Wonderful, tasty, authentic, yet creative Italian food. As a 'pescetarian' I had lots of wonderful options. The wine list was a good mix of Italian, Aussie and NZ wines. The staff were pleasant, knowledgable and informative.
Dinner for four - perfecto!. Friendly staff. Tried black salmon for the first time... delicious!!! Great wine & Amazing anti pasto too. Will definitely be back!
Very professional, very good food.. I love this restaurant. Great dishes and some impeccable customer service.
In Sydeny osteria baccomatto is the best italian ever. The food is simply delicious and the service is very good. Love this place!
Fantastic local eatery. The food here is wonderful, tastey and the menu ecclectic. You can find something for anyone here. The menu seems to change regularly too.... which is good, as I eat here on a regular basis. The wine list is awesome, and the service is both friendly and efficient. This seems a place that cares about their food and their customers. I enjoy coming here during the week for an early dinner at the bar with a friend and a glass (or two) of wine. Another awesome plus.. they serve 500 ml carafs.. perfect weekday servings!
The food was divine and the service was perfect.. Incredibly attentive, but not annoying. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Very good food, friendly efficient service by attractive waitstaff in a lovely space. If L lived in Sydney and not Brooklyn I'd be back soon.
Great for a group. I went to Baccomatto with 5 friends with a 50% dinner deal. We all had a wonderful time and the service was great on a Thursday night. The buffalo mozzarella and the arrancini balls were great starters. I had the swordfish for main and it was so fresh and tasty, the others had pasta which was freshly made and very filling. They had a good selection of wines available and reasonable prices for a bottle.
Outstanding. Had the best night, food, service and atmosphere amazing. Will certainly be back. Seafood risotto was the winner!!
Thanks guys for bringing the magic of Melbourne to Sydney..
Wow - what a surprise find! Who new service like this existed in Sydney and matched with perfectly balanced Italian food and wines, I thought I was in. Melbourne - will definitely be back for more soon.
Beautiful food, setting and wine. I would give it a 10/10 however the service was very slow both times we went and had to follow up on food. We were in no rush so not a major. Recommend.
The best Italian food I have ever eaten by far. The food here is outstanding. The staff are amazingly friendly. We were served by Carol who could not have been better at her job. Perfectly attentive and friendly. Brilliant experience. Well done!
Lovely. Highly recommended. The food was fantastic, simple but delicious.
Service was friendly and efficient.
Atmosphere was lively, it had a very nice buzz.
Baccomatto is the newest gathering place in Surry Hills. The interior is elegant and streamlined, with the white marble bar as the centre of attention . We have been there twice already and the standard was consistent. The wine list is extensive and the staff are very friendly, 'beautiful' with heavy italian accent. The quality and standard of food was excellent, especially the hand made pasta and fish of the day. Very well done Mauro and Michael. We will be back for sure.
Have been meaning to leave a review for these guys for a while now. My partner and I visited a few months ago - a special mention to the staff who were so warm and friendly, very knowledgeable with their menu. Food was lovely too as we're the drinks. Would recommended to friends and will be returning soon.
Beautiful food! And very nice and simple atmosphere! The food was fresh and seasonal! Could do better with the wine list (given the other choices in the area) but overall a very good time!! Will go back!
The food is really really good, as a local I'm so glad we finally have something like this near by. tiny minus is the interior does need a bit of pep - it's a large space that needs some love.
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. I went to Baccomatto last Friday night with a friend and was very impressed. The food was fantastic and the staff were really really good to us. Of course this will become very popular within next few months but I will return. The food was excellent but what I particularly liked also was the casual but distinctly Italian atmosphere inside. I like to try new things. Prices very reasonable for this grade of eatery. Five stars from me.
