LP’s is set to close and become a purely wholesale. We had heard this place was good so had to make sure we visited before it’s closure. In the backstreets of Chippendale, you will find this neighbourhood restaurant, reminiscent of a German beer hall. It is a huge kitchen and bar encompassing the whole right hand side of the restaurant. The left side has plenty of long communal tables.

Delicious meats & sides here at LP’s
I loved the low lit, intimacy of the restaurant. It felt fancy but also casual at the same time, especially sitting up on the high tables.
The meat here was a highlight & stand out.
The wagyu tartare was so yummy. It was tender but also a bit chewey which I loved. The sauce was acidic which cut through the rich wagyu.
The octopus was a bit on the chewey side but BBQ’d so nicely & had a good smokey flavour.
The lamb ribs that were ordered were so beautifully cooked. The meat fell off the bone & was so tasty. The sauces it was served with were all very different, from being very zesty to spicy, which gave a good choice of flavour to pair the lamb with.
I loved the pumpkin salad, which added some volume to the meal & filled me up.
The service was really nice & gave us some awesome recommendations on dishes to try which was great
Polite, super friendly and considerate. Food was fantastic. Strongly recommend the trout!!! Lamb was very tender, slight saltier than my taste though.
LP’s Quality Meats is a meat lovers paradise. I am not much of a meat eater but wanted to try it nonetheless as I had heard so much about it. It’s quality meat indeed. We had the Chef’s Menu for $70 and there was more than enough food. The meat was tasty, packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. The salads were lovely, especially the cucumber one (pictured). The highlight for me was a Canadian sweet called Pouding Chomeur (pictured) for dessert. It’s a maple and pecan pudding that is luscious and I think the ultimate comfort food. #meatlover #chippendale
Heaven for meat lovers! I visited as a group of 6 including 2 kids and everyone had a great time. We had the croquettes, smoked wagyu and pate for starters and all were polished off. For the mains we ordered the Smoked beef rib, and 1.2kgs of Dry aged rib steak both perfectly done. The photos isn’t to scale but they were huge and definitely enough to share between us. Would definitely revisit.
While initially ambivalent about coming here because of the whopping price of one rib ($59), we wanted to see what all the fuss was about and to our delight, LP quality meats did not disappoint. That beef rib was insanely good. We also got the porchetta which was also very tasty but perhaps a bit too fatty for my liking and I’d probably try their other dishes next visit.
Service was top notch, the staff were hella friendly and attentive despite the busyness of the restaurant.
Can’t wait to visit this place again!
Absolutely agree with its name - quality meats! They serve fantastic homemade cold cuts, sausages, pork belly and ox tongue. It was too dark to take good photos, but the ox tongue was so tender that I had to upload a photo of it. Everything we ordered was delicious and can’t wait to come back again.
Finally managed to check this place out! Make sure you book beforehand, this place is popular. The smoked beef ribs and the beef tartare were super delicious! We tried the sausage as well which was very tasty too. The asparagus came with amazing sauce! Definitely recommend this place. Service was lovely too!
Great tongue, beautiful cut, nice texture, very tender, the fennel pork porchetta, was excellent as well. Sadly service was a bit mediocre. If felt like a great place, great food, ran by some kids staff from Hungry Jacks
Meat eaters heaven!!! Think Beef Ribs the size of a Tyrannasaurus Rex with meat that melts off the bone like butter, Picture Porchetta or Lamb with an flavoursome combinations stuffing at Iuts centre. Awesome service with staff whi know and csn recommend items on the menu like its the back of their hand and an open kitchen that provides a centrepiece for conversation of dishes (including yours) are prepared in a fashion that its drool worthy.
Quick dinner by the bar tables because I’ve heard so much about LP. Decided to squeeze this in even though I was super full from lunch, and boy was it worth it. The ox tongue was sensational, as was the tartare. Definitely over ordered though, as I was already full before I even stepped in, but still managed to squeeze in some porchetta and sausage. Washed down with a delicious watermelon pilsner (which I really wish I can find in Melbourne). Do not miss the tartare or the tongue, it would be the first thing I return for every time. Interestingly enough, for a restaurant that serves excellent meats, their salad was really good, and one of the best salads I’ve had.
Will come back for:
+ Beef Short Ribs
+ Smoked sausages
+ Village Salad
+ Pastassio Ice Cream
Came here with a couple of mates for a quick meal and a couple of beers, and was suitably impressed by the smoked meats! The ribs were some of the best I have had anywhere (on the bone, super tender and just the right level of smokiness), the smoked sausages where also nicely smoked and flavorsome. We also shared a couple of desserts but the highlight for me was the pastassio ice cream, packed with pastassio and super creamy. Great little eatery (it was packed for a Tuesday night) but service was great and friendly, and the place was rustic and modern. Price is on the fine dining end of the spectrum but the ribs were worth it! Will be back.
From the appetizer to dessert 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 worth the money and worth the calories. The food came in just a right time and the staff were very friendly. We had cold cuts, beef tongue and blood saisage as appetizers. Then beef short ribs and sausage for main with 3 different sauces. The last is the pudding ✨ this is the best dessert that you need to try from LP’s
Currently the best dining experience under $50 pp so far. Location wasn’t a issue for us, as it was located in the alleyways behind Central Park. Inviting atmosphere and laid back staff resulted in a well oiled cogs in a machine.
We started with olives and coppa. In-house made coppa was as good as expected, savoury aged fragrance makes me salivate as I write this now.
Eggplant parmigiana was deceivingly delicious, it was encased in a fried chicken batter and topped with a generous serving of burrata and cut by the mild acidity from the tomato sauce. It was like the long lost vegetarian brother of chicken parmigiana.
Duck and pork terrine was more like a massive sausage. The duck imparted a slight gaminess and accents the terrine.
Despite the long wait for mains, it was definitely worth it. Porchetta had a beautiful mix of herbs including rosemary and thyme, with super crispy skin but it was slightly too salty imo.
Smoked beef ribs, extremely tender, flavourful and warming for the soul.
The highlight of the meal was the pouding choumer, it reminded me of my childhood digging into a maccas hot cake but in a gourmet version. The essential flavour remains but the ladyfingers like cakes were lighter and the temperature contrast with vanilla ice cream was a failsafe addition that elevates the dish.
I had the creme caramel first and I thought it was great until pouding choumer walked into the room, nevertheless solid though.
I’m not a big fan of chocolate but marjolaine was delicious in its own right, rich and gooey dark chocolate cake was quickly gorged down by my chocolate loving friends.
It was nothing out of the box but everything was done with care and attention, resulting in evidently good dining experience. Also, I would like to commend Luke Powell for his flippity flop technique and an absence of chunky monkeys in the dishes.
If you’re looking for food late at night then this is one place you can call. Dark and relaxed vibe in the back streets of Chippendale. They make their own salumi- we tried the Mortadella and Salami. The Mortadella was slightly garlicky but still enjoyable. It came with dark sourdough, a huge Jalepenõ, salty butter and olives. The beef tartare was lovely too. Different with the caviar added, gave it another level complexity to the dish.
The beef short rib was my favourite. So smokey! I’d love to come back again for the Porchetta.
Update 29/04/18: still the number 1 restaurant in Sydney. Just immaculate
Wow wow wow wow. I am still dreaming of the porchetta at this cool, funky restaurant. Casual and friendly staff are the cherry on top - made me feel like I was eating at a friends home. Even the chefs yelled out a goodbye upon leaving. The beef rib is next level - a teeny tiny bit too peppery for me but still amazing and very different to all the other smoked beef short ribs floating around the scene currently. But the porchetta...I mean, it was like butter. I swear I turned into the little heart eyes emoji when eating this. Unfortunately I didn’t have room for dessert as I was about to burst and suffering from meat sweats, so I guess I’ll have to go back for it and not eat for 3 days prior.
Lovely staff here. I had the gin cocktail which was sooo tasty. The restaurant consists of large share benches so not really a romantic atmosphere if that's what you're after. For food, we ordered the pickled vegetables, blood sausage, porchetta, ocean trout, and fennel salad. The porchetta was the best dish easily. It was so flavoursome and had delicious crackling on the outside. The waitress told us the blood sausage was her favourite dish so we ordered it. It was tasty but not mind blowing. The fennel salad was nice and fresh but I would not order it with the pickled vegetables as well because it kind of has a sharp taste to it! Smoked ocean trout was lacking in flavor and did not taste smoky. Looking at other tables, the chorizo sausage looked so so good and so did the salami. I would order those if I came again.
Really lovely food and setting and friendly, informative service. Had the boudin ( gorgeous) lamb ( really tender) cold cuts ( yummy) and bread was so nice ( think it was Rye ) will defo go back soon
Stand out dish from LP’s was the 1kg T-bone. It’s a 45min wait for the dish but it is worth it. Cooked perfectly medium rare the steaks flavours melt into your mouth.
Smoked Beef Short Rib oozed a delicious smoky flavour, however was slightly dry.
Eggplant Parmigiana was surprisingly nice. However, personally I found the burrata lacked flavour and detracted from the eggplant as it made it soggy.
Applewood Smoked Ocean Trout was a very average dish. Trout tasted old and there was no smoky flavour detected.
Roman Bean, Lemon Vinaigrette & Ricotta also fell flat for me. Beans were slightly over cooked giving them a bit of a rubbery texture. If they had a crisp bite this would be a nice dish.
Desserts
Creme Caramel - very unassuming dish of yellow water, this does not look appetising. However, I strongly recommend you try this dish. The pudding is silky smooth and the caramel on top carries that perfect amount of sweetness.
Pounding Chomeur with Vanilla Ice Cream - a gorgeous sticky mess, this is a dish of buttery goodness.
Marjolaine - layered dark chocolate sponge, this was packed with rich bursts of sweetness. A little too sweet for my liking.
Overall ambiance of LP’s was pleasant, however can get quite noisy and you find yourself shouting to be heard. Service was friendly and attentive. However, even though we booked in advance for a group, we were seated right next to the bathroom.
Would be back for the T-bone but request to be seated near the front.
If you're a meat lover then LP's Quality Meats is the place to go. I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing smoked meats served here. We ordered the Smoked Beef Short Rib, Smoked Chicken, Smoked Sausage and Shaved Zucchini (to balance the amount of meat ordered!). Everything tasted really good but the standout for me was the smoked beef short rib which was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. I also really liked the pesto sauce(?) which was served as part of the meat platter.
As many of you will know, we have a resident vegacaquarian in the Napoli household. This has meant a largely vegetarian diet for the family, with seafood every now and again. Regardless, the (Not So) Small People are die hard carnivores, and would happily demolish a steak every night of the week if it was presented to them. So when their birthday rolls around, and a special family dinner out is called for, the request is always for a steak restaurant. “Would you like to try somewhere new or somewhere we’ve been before?” I ask, when the big day is approaching. “Somewhere new” they say. So here we are at LP’s which I’ve been keen to try since it opened in 2014. It’s consistently scored a hat in the Good Food Guide Awards.
Carnivores heaven has the beef ribs and sausage and a great salad. Also had the pounding chomeur for desert. All fantastic. Highly recommended
We had the banquet for $65pp and loved everything that we ate and were all full by the end of dinner.
The standouts were the Blood Sausage, pork sausage and beef short rib.
Will definitely be back here.
Although having just one poorly lit photo, we had an amazing experience at LP's!
Looking for a late night eat, we stumbled upon LP's Quality Meats in one of the alleyways of Chippendale. Entering through the wooden framed automatic doors, we were transported to a funky yet fancy environment. LP's was happening with everyone in the restaurant very obviously having a good time. We were immediately greeted by friendly faces and were served professionally with great recommendations to top.
We ordered the boudin (sausage), smoked beef short rib, porchetta, bread rolls and beans. The food was amazing! The boudin was sweet and extremely tasty, the beef rib was tender and juicy, the porchetta was perfectly cooked and the bread rolls were great complements to all the meats. We got a few drinks from LP's too, and had no issues with them.
Overall, LP's is a great place if your looking for a place to date or catch up and drink with friends. It's especially good for meat lovers! Would definitely recommend this LP's PLace to anyone!
Mash potato and short rib were delicious! Service was great, and the vibe was cool, would definitely come back with a group as this type of food would be best for sharing.
Location is a little out of the way but still walkable from Central Station (or even Town Hall; what I did). I first noticed a lot of working people in the restaurant, I suppose it is a popular post-work haunt as they do have a nice selection of drinks. Overall had a very classy atmosphere to the place and they have an open kitchen.
Service was very helpful and they patiently explained to us that Salami Cotto was cooked whereas Salumi was cold cut. We got the Salumi, Smoked Beef Short Rib, Porchetta, Mash & Gravy, Sourdough and Butter, Applewood Smoked Ocean Trout and Smoked Shoulder Ham.
My favourites were the Ocean Trout and the Porchetta! The trout had such a lovely mix of flavours to it, so creamy and tasty. The Pork Belly had the crunchiest skin and juicy meat. The Salumi was also very smokey, and the short rib sooo very soft. Special mention to the Mash & Gravy, amazing buttery goodness but it was a little tooo mushy for my taste.
Overall was a great experience, quite pricey so would only recommend for a splurge every now and then or for a special occasion.
Don't Believe The Hype
+4.5
This is a pretty simple review. If you like smoked meats and walking in a place that smells like smoked meats you will love this place. They are very good at smoking the hell out of meat, the chicken was soooo tasty and smoky.
If you dont like smoked meats, i have a feeling you won't like this place (just a stab in the dark)
I feel like a gluttonous suckling pig, but i like it!
This place is a fat and sugar overload. A couple of suggestions when you come here:
1. If you're on a date night ask to be seated at the tables near the front - they are quieter and better suited. We were placed on a share table at the back so asked to be moved.
2. Order something with acidity for a side dish, the mash potato and the kale salad were both excellent but very sweet so it didn't balance with the meat very well.
For the entree the mortodella and salami cotto were excellent, paired with really fine olives and Dijon mustard.
The eggplant parmagiano was definitely a highlight.
For mains we ordered the smoked beef short rib - it lived up to the hype. It was incredibly tender and very fatty.. yum. The whole rolled lab was excellent as well - it's a side of lamb with a Moroccan sausage rolled up in the middle.
All in all a worthwhile experience, although not cheap.
Service was extremely attentive and friendly.

The best smoked ribs ever! The meat is so juicy and tender.
Beef ribs, smoked chicken, and the smoked sausage is awesome. Make sure you try this when you're in Sydney!
Heavenly good! I ordered their Applewood Smoked Ocean Trout, Blood Sausage, Beef Rib, Porchetta and one of their salads and mashed potatoes for the sides -- none of them are less than delicious! Would definitely go back there again!
This place never disappoints, the food is great and service is very good, the only little problem I would say is the size of the Mocktail which is ridiculous for a non alcoholic drink but it's delicious.
Hands down.
One of the best american bbq I've had in sydney. Service was good.
Try their beef ribs.
Beef tongue.
Will comeback and recommend to friends.
Hidden away in the back alleys of Chippendale is LPs Quality Meats, a quiet achiever that hits all the right notes with its somewhat unconventional meat offerings. The restaurant has a casual warehouse feel, mostly communal seating and an open kitchen that runs the length of the space so you can watch the chefs hard at work crafting the dishes.
If you love meat, this place is definitely worth a visit. They have a small but good menu selection from cured meats to smoked to sausages and salads and sides. My favourite was the beef rib, a massive rib with tender, melt-off-the-bone deliciousness. I was a bit disappointed with the cocktail though, I forgot the name but it was one with vodka, coconut and pineapple. Unfortunately, it sounded delicious on paper but tasted like yucky medicine.
The restaurant had dim lighting so not the best for photos. Seating is bench seating style so you share with other patrons. Staff are friendly and helpful with food selection. One thing I didn't like was the meaty smell - the place had a butcher's smell - but maybe it's just me because I'm very sensitive to that kind of smell.
I went with a group of 6 and we totalled about $65 each including drinks. Overall, a pleasant dinner and I would recommend :)
Their spices blood sausage (boudin) is so flavoursome (but not salty) - superb. Also had the smoked lamb belly stuffed with merguez sausage which was cooked and flavoured just right. Small but well considered menu. Overall very friendly and attentive service - great for a group of friends and meat lovers ;)
This is the best meat i've ever eaten! My favorite dish is the smoked beef ribs, Absolutely gorgeous!! And the staff are also friendly and welcome. Nice job LP's Quality Meats ;)
Vegetarian – Ancient tribal slang for the village idiot who can’t hunt, fish or ride’If you subscribe to this, then LP’s Quality Meats is the spot for you!Tucked away in dark laneways in the middle of nowhere, Chippendale, are some of the hottest trendy restaurants of the moment. LP’s Quality Meats is one of those for the caveman in you. There are plenty of accessible public transport options to get you to Broadway, or at least Central station. From there, it’s a 5-10minute walk through the narrow streets of this interesting suburb. You’ll go past art galleries that are too weird for my liking, the hottest bars that have no visible entrance and dodgiest looking petrol station Chinese takeaways that’ll almost guarantee instant weight loss.If your chair is on the big side, you may have to go on the road at times, because the sidewalks are way to narrow with lots of poles. Then you get to this spot. Wide doors, all flat, even comes with a friendly bouncer, so roll straight in people and let the feast begin! The inside is extremely simple, like most of these hipster joints. There’s no carpet, easy to push and get around. Table height is low but bar stools are high, not ideal, however workable. If smoky meat is your thing then this place is heaven. The beef short rib is to die for, even simple sides like homemade sourdough and corn are surprisingly delicious. If you don’t know where to start, go for the platter. The sauces are delicious, and pickles are a must, their mustard is a bit funky for me, but since you don’t pay extra for it, just top up more of the other stuff. If you are there with a good size group, why don’t you mix it up with some seafood too? Octopus is a not-so-fishy choice. This place books out quickly, so make sure you reserve a table in advance. The kitchen is more than happy to cut the meat up into small pieces before serving, but hey, who wants that? There’s that extra hint of wildness if you just grab the whole chunk and wolf it down. The whole venue is well set up for easy access. The bathroom is spacious and practical, comes with a pot plant and a table for your bag, and get this… a scented candle. The toilet seat comes with a soft padded back support cushion for all of us that don’t like leaning forward, and extra toilet paper is there too if you accidentally eat way too much meat for your digestive system.Great food, good atmosphere, if it wasn’t a little too loud and crowded, I’d give it full marks. All and all, 4/5 for the restaurant and 5/5 for access.-March On
Just had dinner here (21/5/16). Great food but the outstanding element of the evening was the service. Rosie served us and had quality banter and good advice on meal choices. It's a shame she ran off before I got a chance to ask for her number. If she were so inclined she can look me up on FB.

Along with a trillion other eateries, LP's Quality Meats has been on my radar for some time although it was never at the top of the priority list. I was aware that it existed and it seemed decent but I hadn't really investigated it and didn't feel particularly compelled to. I finally paid some more attention to it when researching dinner spots for a catch-up with Vee, who expressed her interest when I suggested it.
We rocked up on a Wednesday night without a reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant is set in a spacious warehouse (right next to Ester!) with communal dining tables so there is a lot of seating. They seated us and other couples at right angles on table corners, perfect for knocking knees with a love interest.
Being fickle foodies, Vee and I took some time deciding what to order. The waitress suggested about 3 dishes to share between us, so we opted for two starters and one main. As the name suggests, the focus is on meat so meat was the starring element of each dish.
The smoked beef tongue arrived first. Whilst tongue may not be up everyone's alley - and understandably so - we were intrigued by how it would be served and how it would work with its accompaniments, which outweighed its potentially strange taste. I needn't have worried though: my tastebuds began doing a happy dance when I took my first bite. The dish was tender, fatty and flavoursome. The beef tongue was sliced very thinly and took on the flavours of the bone marrow oil and vinaigrette. The oil was very indulgent but also very moreish.
Next came the grilled octopus. It looked like it was served in a watery bolognese-type sauce but never fear, it was much tastier than that. The octopus was definitely the star of this dish, outshining the sauce, which whilst pleasant, wasn't a knockout in terms of flavour. There certainly could have been more chorizo but I suppose they didn't want the chorizo to compete with the octopus. The octopus was well-grilled: it was cooked but not overly rubbery and had an alluring smokey flavour. So far, so good.
There was a bit of a delay between our starters and our main but it was worth the wait. The porchetta was served with a selection of LP's sauces: chimmichurri, chilli and mustard, each adding a different flavour to the porchetta. I liked the chilli best. But how was the porchetta itself? Well, I am not a huge pork fan, but I do like my roast pork so this was quite up my alley. There is decent, average pork belly and then there is LP's porchetta. The porchetta was wonderfully soft and tender, falling apart easily at our knives' mercies. The cut had a good ratio of meat to fat, giving it a juicy and fatty flavour but not overwhelmingly so.
I almost considered not ordering dessert since there are only 3 dishes and the menu is very light on their details so they didn't particularly appeal to me but Vee set me straight. She is a coffee addict so naturally we ordered the coffee granita dessert, which was more or less what the menu said: a layered coffee granita and cream trifle, served with biscotti on the side. To be honest, there was nothing really stand-out about the dish but it was a refreshing palate cleanser after all the meat. The meat is undoubtedly LP's specialty.
Overall, LP's is a very solid dinner option, especially for the meat-lover. Whilst it may not be one of the immediate restaurants that jumps to my mind when I think of dinner places, I will be sure to keep it in a mental back drawer as a cool group hangout.
I don't give a rating of 5 very often, if ever, but LP's absolutely nailed it. We shared the blood sausage and beef tongue to start and the short rib for main. the blood sausage and short rib were delicious, rammed with flavour, tender, flawless. the beef tongue was good but the other two knocked it out of the park.
Washed everything down with a bottle of the Alma Negra, cant remember exactly but I think it was a shiraz, from the heavier side of the menu anyways.
Chippo just got trendier and trendier! In a tiny alley on Chippen street you can find sensational smoky ribs from LP’s Quality Meats. The restaurant is very casual and communal but yet you get fantastic full table service. We were seated in a big wooden table sharing with three other couples. Sharing the table didn’t feel awkward because we were not facing the other patrons directly and plenty of space in between.
I have not been blown away at a restaurant in quite some time. And LPS blew me away. Went on a Saturday night and sat at the bar, the place was buzzing. Fantastic attentive service from bar staff and waiters. We ordered so much food and each dish was better than the next. The highlight of the night was the beef short rib. Wow. I cannot wait to get back here!! Oh and don't forget dessert (pictured). I think it's called 'poor man's dessert' and it was epic.
Loved everything about this restaurant ! From the industrial warehouse communal dining space, the perfect selection of the most succulent meat & sides by our fantastic waiter, to the amazing shared dessert at the end of our gastronomic meat feast. Will definitely be back when I'm up in Sydney again.
If you're a meat person then this place is for you, if you're not then come here for the sides and dessert. The service here is outstanding, they talk you through the menu and are constantly refilling your glass 😀 This place is not for a one on one date but great for group hang outs as the atmosphere here is incredible! You must get the short rib and pork belly 👌🏻 it's cooked to perfection and it is legit "quality meat". The mash and corn on the cob are super addictive as the sides! We had the pudding for dessert and it was beautiful, tasted exactly like a sticky date pudding 😍 the only negative I have to say about this place is that it's quite expensive, but if you're willing to splurge on good quality meat then it's definitely worth it.
Great service and food. Perfect spot for all the meat lovers out there. Smoked beef tongue is a must! The meat just melts on your tongue. The bread roll is nice too, goes well with potato mash and all the meat.
Service was exceptional, I was really impressed with the sauce options for the different cuts of meat, the place was absolutely packed yet they still managed to fit us in at the bar, they have decent cocktails, whisky, wine & locally brewed beer, they change the menu regularly to keep things fresh. I'll definitely go back. Friendly staff & great atmosphere, I'd suggest four + people and to share multiple dishes, finish with desert & a cocktail.
Loved this place! The eggplant and burrata enter was definitely our faves. The cured meats are nice but maybe just spend all your money on the main meats, especially the beef rib cause it's so so good. So good In fact that we ordered a second one. Let's be real it's all good! Try the corn too!
Love the atmosphere - tried every meat on the mains menu and the short rib was stand out. The maple dessert is Devine and the ox tongue starter was also. Killer mash potato we had to keep ordering more!
There is lots to like about this restaurant. The food is superb, the staff are on their game and engaging, the place has a great vibe. But, pick pick pick, it's just a bit too dark and a bit too too loud. If I can work out a strategy to solve those two things I might just come back to try some more of their gorgeous boudin noir and melt in the mouth beef short ribs.
4/5 Service
4.5/5 Food
3/5 Ambience
Banging meat, good atmosphere for a group of people and top notch service. Special mention to the beans side dish, its a real bolter. All in all livin la vida loca. 5 wasabi peas.
Smoky, meaty goodness. This place gets pretty raucous on a weekend night. Great vibe for group meet-up. Not so much for an intimate date (unless she is a butcher). Service was top notch. Our server helped us navigate the menu and her recommendations were spot on. If you like your meat and don't mind paying for quality dishes put together by a team that understands meat you cannot go wrong here. Only fault were the cocktails which were not great.
A bowl of pickled vegetables and a plate of Coppa (a cured pork). Washed down with a blood and sand (it somehow seemed fitting). Great atmosphere and truly unique offering. Will drag anyone who listens here...
Found this almost by accident taking a back street to get back home on a rainy night and saw a warmly lit meat house with a friendly security guard at the door.
The theme is industrial chic centered along an enormous wood smoking machine decorated like a Christmas tree with hanging sausages and adorned on top by whole crispy little chickens and sliced roulade.
This is a place of pressed meats galore, meats stuffed with meat wrapped in meat skins and basted in meat juices, then smoked and served up on lightly pickled vegetables for all to enjoy.
They have a good range of fish/octopus/vegetarian delicacies as well (so you can bring your vehicle friends as long as they don't have ethical reservations about watching you devour a huge 16 hr smoked brontosaurus rib) not to mention a whole slew of tasty side dishes.
I was very relaxed in the atmosphere of this place, the food and the service were spot on and I will definitely be back.
Oh and you 100% need to get the silky smooth duck liver patê if you dine here - AMAZING!
I am here sitting in the most amazing place in the world. World class. Like no other
Service - first class
Atmosphere - excellent
Lighting - ideal
Tastes - refreshingly yum
Alcohol - delightfully delightful.
PS I'M SO SHITFACED OFF THE WINE
One word "amazing". The beef ribs is humongous and so beautifully smoked. The lamb was nice too but a little on the dry side.
The absolute highlight of the night are the sides. The potato gravy was "speechlessly" delicious and the greenpea and greenbean is just the perfect refreshing and crisp compliment to the mains.
The maple syrup based desert was too sweet and missing the crunchy crust we were hoping. A bit heavy after a heavy meal but maple syrup fan will find it devine ;)
It was a satisfying meal for a pretty reasonable price and the quality of the ingredients was first class! Love the decor but I wish for chairs not stools to sit on, my poor back.
Fantastic food, good value, food comes out quickly too. Only suggestion is to turn the music down as it's basically impossible to have a discussion if you're in a group!
When you need a meat fix, this was the place to go...beef ribs, pork crackling, sausages. It's awesome that you can see how the meats are prepared, cooked and presented
Best service I have had in a while, the feeling of being looked after but not hassled which is hard to balance. The food was awesome - tender, smokey and hearty. I won't find myself the often because it is expensive but definitely somewhere I will consider for the next special occasion
Does My Bomb Look Big In This

If there’s a better BBQ Beef Short Rib ($44) in Sydney, I don’t know where to find it. Luke Powell coats his fat, juicy ribs in little more than salt and pepper, and sticks 'em into the wood-fire smoker for nigh on sixteen hours. Yep, they go in at 11pm and come out just in time for dinner the next evening.
The food, atmosphere and service was great here! Although having to wait a little longer than we'd like for the first sitting to move along (without drink in hand or somewhere to sit) the night changed for the better quickly! We worked our way through all sections of the menu and ordered almost everything- and there is nothing I would leave out! My recommendation would to only focus on one or two of the main meats and then lots of starters and side. The blood sausage was a highlight, as was the pate, beef rib, stuffed lamb, and pickles. We had no room for dessert. Great place to go to with a group so you can try more!
We walked into LP's following the fantastic smell of smoked meat and out of it impressed and satisfied. The beef short ribs are amazing and the desserts are surprisingly good. The mash oh the mash! You have to get the mash... It's so naughty but so good! The banquet menu is definitely worth the price.
Wood smoked, cured meats and BBQ meat platters are making a wave through Sydney’s dining scene and LP’s Quality Meats has set the bar high. Hidden in the backstreets of Chippendale, follow the smokey scent through the nondescript wooden sliding doors to find a casual dining space with an open kitchen featuring a huge Southern Pride Smoker. Reservations can be made if you’re dining as a group of 4 or more and I would recommend the Chef’s banquet menu for $65pp. Everything we had was freaking amazing and there was a lot of food too!
I ordered a few small cold cut dishes for entree and then the BBQ Beef short rib ($38), which was enough to share for two people. It was finger-licking delicious, so smokey and juicy. Writing this very short review is making me want to go back and order this meal again!!!
Only thing with this place is that you are seated on communal tables, so don't expect to come here for a secluded table for two - you will be sharing a table with others and this place does get very loud. I don't mind this at all, however I know there are some people who will find this a negative feature.. Just don't mind the noise, come here and enjoy the food Luke Powell has to offer!!!

I have been here six times in the last month - to say I enjoy this place would be an understatement.
All the people I have introduced to LP's have called this their new fave restaurant.
From the attentive staff to the premium wines that go so well with meats on offer excellence abounds.
Full marks LP's - Great work.
Really great tasting meats and pretty good variety of sides. Yet to try the mash but heard some amazing things about it.
Only small gripe was that the short rib was a tad too salty. However I took some home for take-away and the next day it was perfect.
Will definitely come back.
This joint doesn't need my review. Get a gang together. Go.
Beef and mash - I take thee .... Was running a bit late so got there about half an hour after opening. As I was on my own, easiest place to sit was in the corner on the counter - there was nobody else there. Gave me a full view of what was happening behind the bar and in the kitchen so a great spot. I think it meant as well the music and cacophony from all the conversations didn't affect me either luckily. The dishes are meant to be shared but that's traditionally not been a problem for me :) So upon advice just ordered the beef short rib with the mashed potato and gravy. What a match made in heaven. I had to slow down so as not to just inhale this marriage so yes, it is good. They have expanded the dessert menu since they opened but I still went for the pouding chomeur. My waitress had gone walkabout so I hadn't been advised that it too was a share dish. It was a little bit of a struggle at the end of the dinner but didn't need a doggie bag. All in all pretty damn good and the wait staff were really friendly.
I’ve eaten a lot of food, I’ve travelled to Texas and I’ve eaten ribs there but I’ll say this right now, this is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The ribs at LP's by themself makes LP’s Quality Meats one of my favourite eats of all time. I’m really happy we decided to stop by at LP’s, we didn’t really get to try much because we hadn’t planned on eating here but everything that we did have was amazing and checking it out allowed me to at least develop some memories that I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.
Hat tip to my sister who found about LP’s Quality Meats . We made it in record time (the next after it was opened) and enjoyed every single bite. This is one of those rare occasions where I didn’t have a favourite because everything was equally great. The menu is not extensive and portion sizes may seem small but there’s enough variety to enjoy a shared meal among friends that won’t cost an arm and a leg if you don’t factor in drinks. We were four people and shared two small plates, two large plates and two sides. The belly ham comes with a grissini, olives, mustard and a pickled chilli. Awesome ham and co. While the smoked salmon may sound ordinary, it wasn’t at all. The crunch of the fried capers on top added a nice spin. Belly ham ($12) Smoked salmon ($18) The sides section of the menu is misleadingly called “vegetables” (yes, I know it’s common to believe that chickpeas, corn and potatoes are vegetables, but bread?). I guess that’s their attempt to avoid angry vegetarians from comm
Great smoked meat platter with interesting special menus, AMAZING mashed potato, service is friendly and efficient, price is reasonable, ambiance is nice and casual but can do with less loud music.

Meat and smoke. You might be thinking American barbecue, but LP's Quality Meats is much more than that. Head chef Luke Powell (ex-Tetsuya's and ex-Mary's ) is cranking out lamb bellies stuffed with Merguez sausage, smoked salmon and massive hunks of beef short rib - all put through a Southern Pride wood smoker shipped over from Texas. And then there's the cured and cold cuts of meats, all made in-house, like coppa di testa, bierwurst and belly ham.
Nice. Really enjoyed the meat. Funnily the thing that blew me away was the amazing Mash and Gravy, was so good and the dessert the pudding was absolutely phenominal. Meat just came off the bone and dissolves in your mouth. Also the people in there are really friendly. Will come back for sure
Excellent smokehouse in Chippendale's hipster, foodie axis. The bar menu is okay but it is the mains you should go for. Wonderfully tender, smoky meat done in a way that doesn't try too hard to be an American imitation. The beef rib was the highlight while the sides were delicious if a little small. But the dish that made my night was the dessert, sensational! Good place for big groups. Service was quick and attentive. The fit out reminds me of Olympic Provisions in Portland and the staff dress like rockabillies.
Beef ribs to die for, chicken fantastic, smoked pork puck a winner but the music us abominable. Maybe they are trying to recreate the vibe of austins sxsw but what works in a bar didn't work here, drove us out, change that and it's perfect spot
So good. Started with the anchovy toasts which were topped with WHIPPED PORK FAT: amazing. Could have eaten 10. I highly recommend the beef short rib: so melt-in-your-mouth good, but the rolled lamb belly with sausage wasn't as great as I'd hoped. The fat was too thick to be eaten and the sausage wasn't spicy it punchy enough. The pickles were devine, again I could have eaten the whole bowl myself, and the mash was some of the best I've ever had. We managed to fit in dessert which was just as well, the poor man's pudding was delicious. It tasted like a hybrid pancake/pudding and was drowning in caramelised maple and ice cream. Seriously so good. Can't wait to go back.
Smoked meat, yeeeah. Had the beef rib and housemade sausage. Both smokey and juicy. Pretty good beers available too. Will be back for sure
A very quality restaurant for your meat cravings. We haven't been back to this restaurant for a long time and they've made some changes to their menu. Nevertheless, everything we had here was executed to perfection. The service was impeccable. The highlight is definitely their lamb dish, it was super tender and succulent. It also comes with a side of roasted veggies.
I stumbled across the restaurant before work with a hurt foot. The staff not only accommodated me to sit in a low set table while the restaurant is fully booked. But also brought alcohol wipe and tissue for me to stop the bleed. Not to mention the food is high quality also.
I left the bag there and when I got it back everything is in their place! Highly recommended! It’s not only the food but also the well trained, happy, compassionate staff there!
Another weekend, another restaurant to visit 🍽 This week we visited one of our must-visit-restaurant LP’s Quality Meats. Name is a little mouthful but boy did we got our mouth stuffed with so much good food! We got the most creamy liver parfait, the juiciest lamb, and smokey potatoes, but our favourite has to be the perfectly sliced 3-ways charcuterie(1st pic)! Definitely coming back in the not so distant future for more of these luncheon meats 😍
Went to dinner with a friend, the style of the restaurant is definitely aimed to be more share plates than meals, we had the mussels, smoked chicken and a charcuterie style entree to share. We sat at the bar, and the restaurant got busy fairly quickly.
The meals were nice and the drinks were also good. It was a nice hidden option, for those who love to explore the hidden gems of Sydney! Luckily I was with a friend who knew the way... love it!
Happened across this establishment by chance. Tasty food, excellent friendly engaged service. We enjoyed a light snack of oysters, steak tartare, charcuterie plate bread and butter. Thoroughly recommend
Great place with nice atmosphere and exceptional dry age. Keep in mind that in flavour it is much stronger than a standard steak so 800 g for 2 seemed a perfect quantity before it got overpowering. Definitely going to come back! PS nice pickled vegies! :D
Amazing experience, can’t rate this beautiful restaurant enough! Food, service, atmosphere all 10/10.

Staff know their stuff and confidently walk around in their T-shirts, with “LP’s Meats” lettered on their backs with high waisted denim to fit the inner city vibe.
LP’s Quality Meats focuses on their cold cuts, smoked meats and beef cuts. There are vegetables too, which are also very tasty.
LP's have a delicious cured ocean trout on the starters list, a generous portion and served with a with cultured cream, the flavour combinations were spot on.
The chicken is our favourite - moist meat with a nice smoked flavour, you can order a whole or half portion. The Porchetta is also very good, deboned and cooked in a roll with a thin layer of crisp skin, so very succulent. There are also some dry aged steaks cuts to choose from, we went with the dry aged sirloin, which was cooked as we ordered and served with a lemon wedge, simple and allowing you to savor the flavour of the beef. This was charged per 100g.
The sides were all very enjoyable too. The buttered carrots were quite rustic, served whole and were extremely tasty. The asparagus cooked perfectly a bit of crunch and topped with an egg yolk to make it a little more exciting. We also had the butter lettuce and fine herbs, nice and fresh, with plenty of dill which stood out in a good way. The corn on the cobb maybe a little over, also very buttery, and butter does equal flavour.
The desserts are spectacularly rustic and the experience topped off by the pudding chômeur (poor man's pudding) - a baked sponge soaked in caramelised maple syrup topped with vanilla ice cream served in a foil tin. Demolished by our dining team in no time at all.
This was one of our favourite dining experiences this year and it will be a shame when the restaurant is no more.
