Definitely worth the hype! The wait staff were very friendly and knew the menu well. The seafood was fresh and came with delicious condiments. The duck parfait was smooth and not too gamey. But the steak was the highlight! Cooked medium as per the chef’s recommendation, every piece was tender. Would recommend!

I picked this place for my birthday. everything we ordered were fabulous! the pate was so yummy, it was smooth and had the right amount of liquier in it. the live band was great pleasure to watch, they even addressed my unicorn balloon as first time theres a unicorn in the house. staff service was great, everyone was friendly and helpful. the place decor with the miniture alcohol collection my dad loves! a place with character and good food, highly recommend!
I’ve been to Restaurant Hubert 4 times now and every single time, I love it even more! The restaurant is tucked away underground and has a unique, jazzy ambience. The food is absolutely amazing and their steak tartare, duck parfait, roe boat & escargot are a must! There’s always so much I want to try but I often get the same things because they just can’t be missed while I’m there. My favourite thing on the menu would be their duck parfait! The waiters are quite friendly, attentive and well informed. They’ve recently expanded their menu and included some new, fresh seafood entrees and mains including a tuna tartare, spanned crab espelette and confit trout. The only struggle with this restaurant is that it’s constantly booked out well in advance and often in order to score a last minute table, you’ll have to rock up at 5:30pm. The only other con is the restaurant can be quite dark and the table candle isn’t enough to let you see what you’re eating 😂.

Hubert lives to its 4.9 rating! Food was exceptional, especially the pommes anna and that sauce! Turned down the servers offer to refill our bread until the escargot arrived. More bread please! Steak was cooked to perfection and doneness was as we requested. Cocktails were so good, thanks to our server/bartender since we let him decide what drinks to make us. None of them disappointed. Ambience and the overall atmosphere is also very unique compared to other places in Sydney. Will definitely come back 😊
This place is crazy good. Ambience - perfect. Service - fantastic, our glasses were literally never empty. Food - super super good. Melt in your mouth beef and perfectly seasoned fries. Great recommendation of wine to pair food with.

I’ve come here multiple times for drinks now and I’m pleasantly surprised every time. The service is amazing even if they are super busy and full. I love their fries and they are special and unique. The drinks are delicious and their drinks menu is extensive.
Every dish was so delicious. The best one was the steak perfectly cooked to medium with char on the outside.
We really loved the dinner here. The ambiance was lovely. We had an early seating at 5.30, so we missed the love music that started at 7.30pm. Even though it was early, it was quite busy but our waiter was attentive to us. We had a selection of small dishes and the rump steak special. It was absolutely delicious! The whole vibe of the place was so enjoyable.

Dessert is usually my favourite dish and nothing changed here. I enjoyed indulging in this dish, it was super sweet. There were some hazelnut mixed in the mousse which added a crunchy texture too. The hazelnut cream on top tasted delicious and it was super light.⠀⠀
The tartare was my favourite savoury dish (dessert usually always wins as my favourite dish). The wagyu was impeccable. It was served with french fries - which reminds me of getting little chip packets of these as a child.
Some honerable mentions were the fries, loved the flavour and how crispy they were! The stracciatella was a unique dish, I've never had anything like that before.

Wow !!!!!! I had high expectations of this restaurant, but was blown away with the quality of the food. My table of 4 finished everything on the plate. There was nothing that was left over. The steak was so soft and tender, the parfait was the highlight of the night. It went so well with the bread, we had to ask for extra bread cause the parfait was amazing.
The restaurant had a cute ambience, felt so dark, warm and intimate. There’s nothing like the restaurant Hubert anywhere in Sydney. Very unique experience

I tried the $145pp banquet menu and it did not disappoint. The food we had was slightly different to the one on the website, a little disappointed I didn't get to eat any snails 🐌 but nonetheless the dishes were flavourful. Unfortunately, I was so hungry I didn't take pictures of everything that came out... 😢
The highlights was the Duck Liver Parfait 🦆, Poisson à la Sauce Bercy (catch of the day fish 🐟) & the lamb 🐏 served with Kimchi Gratin and Pommes Anna 🥔

LOVE Hubert!! Such a beautiful venue! The staff are always friendly and super helpful, good recommendations and very knowledgable. The food is insanely good. I was with a group of six and wee did the $145 banquet. Soooo much yummy food, highly recommend - the Escargot XO is to die for! Duck parfait was insane and the Rib Eye was next level! I would have licked every plate clean if I could. The wine recommendations were spot on also. We left extremely full and so satisfied with our experience. Hubert is a must visit.
The food was amazing! I tried the snails, chicken and mushroom dishes and they were all presented and cooked to a very high standard. It was super hard to book a table though so make sure you book a few months in advance.
Hubert is hands down one of the best dining experiences I've had in Sydney. We reserved seats at the bar which still allowed you to soak up the jazzy vibe of the whole restaurant. With a band playing in the background and drinks flowing, it's hard not to have a good time.
Everything on the menu is very well priced, especially for the quality you receive. Ordered up a few dishes I've been keen to try for a while and was not left disappointed. Standouts were easily the Bavette Steak and the Gnocchi Parisienne. Steak was perfectly cooked and super soft with the Diane butter adding an extra touch of richness!

I had the most profound experience at this place. Im walking through a seemingly empty part of sydney and see the door. I pass through it and slowly but surely i transported into well what huberts is. I wont spoil it. This is a must if you are in the cbd.
Fantastic food and service. Beef tatare with potato chips, fantastic texture profile and flavour. Scalloped potato’s were the most well presented potatoes i have ever seen. Fried gruyere was very good need more pickles! bavette steak was perfectly cooked.
Hard not to have high expectations for these types of joints due to the high price point and reviews/ratings of the place. However, Hubert did an amazing job of setting a chic french bistro atmosphere with its winding staircase and dimly lit rooms. Service was also good. Of everything I ordered the only ‘wows’ for me were the tartare, gnocchi and creme caramel. The steak was good but a bit of the chewy side. Everything else was alright. The bill for 5 with drinks came to about $430 so pretty decent too.

I absolutely enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant 5/5! It was a dark and intriguing atmosphere, taking me to a nice little underground restaurant playing French music with mini alcohol bottles shown on display, there was Hubert. Hubert is mostly a walk-in restaurant so we were fortunate enough to have a seating in the booth for a table of 4 on a Saturday night!
The food was a delight, although some servings was small (the Gnocchi I found in particular). Good to share though. I also found that the beef tartar could’ve been salted a little bit more. I enjoyed almost everything though, yum! I would definitely be returning.
Now let me share my highlights, the escargot XO sauce was amazing! The liver pate to me, was more on the stronger side but other people on the table seemed to enjoy it! The mushroom was a surprise, it had a really smooth texture followed by the mushroom sauce. We dipped the mushroom sauce with our steak.
Our biggest surprise of the night, was the whole chicken, we were extremely impressed with how well the chicken was cooked! Even the breast was so moist, yes, moist!
Without a doubt the best French cuisine I have ever had. Hubert’s prices are amazing!!! The quality is like a fine dining restaurant and the service is amazing! I came here with a booking seated at the bar. The seating was cute and intimate. The food was amazing, the escargot was standard, but the steak and the side dishes was the highlight of my night. Would definitely go there again!

This place is absolutely incredible!!!! The ambience alone is worth 5 stars (if you’ve watched the ladies in black you’ll recognise it). It is a high end place so only sometimes food for me, but is completely worth the top dollar. I don’t enjoy sitting at the bar, so I’d recommend waiting and going into the restaurant, well worth the wait. My fav things are the pomes Anna and the gnocchi!!
Second time at Hubert and I want to go back again already! The oysters were fresh and nicely chilled, the beef tartare was full of flavour and also tastes amazing with some buttered bread. The bavette steak was heavenly with the butter on top and I really enjoyed the escargot with XO which is a nice change from the normal garlic and butter.
Went for a friends birthday, ambience was good live music band and jazz with piano with good quality and food service. Highly recommend.

One of the best French restaurant in Sydney (TOP 5) and the price is slightly lower for this kind dining and food. And the other reason is because my little brother’s name is Hubert too. So, let’s have a try and hope it’s worthy!
BAVETTE STEAK ($48) - 300gr Grilled Rangers Valley flank, Burgundy butter. The steak is cooked in medium rare – it’s juicy and have good condiments. That burgundy butter is on point. Good carrots, good sauce and good rareness to the beef make this dish taste wonderful! (9/10)
DUCK PARFAIT ($23) - Liver mousse, maple syrup jelly & Hubert baguette. Duck parfait is perfect with toast even though it is shaped like sponge. Its absorbed the duck liver and some duck parts that makes it beautiful. So, the highlight of this dish would be that toast! #perfectwithtoast #nobutter #justtoast (7/10)
ESCARGOT XO ($28) - Roasted snails with Hubert XO sauce & Hubert baguette. The escargot is chewy, little bit salty but that XO sauce is delicious. Perfect balanced sauce – not too sweet nor salty, just dipped with more toast. #moretoast (7/10)
GNOCCHI PARISIENNE ($24) - Pan fried choux pastry with parmesan cream, chervil & chive. This gnocchi is crunchy, greasy, soft, chewy, cheesy with no toppings. There’s mix unclear flavor but still have some good one. (7/10)
And their special dish of the day: ALL PARTS OF DUCK ($85) – there’s duck confit, duck breast, duck liver and duck sausage. The duck is bountiful. Various cooking method are used, almost worth the price. The roasted duck is beautiful and savory, perfect amount of saltiness and perfectly cooked. The duck sausage – Don’t eat the green stuff (just the sausage is okay) because the wrapping is slightly bitter. The duck breast is pink in the middle and have very good sear and also have a very good sauce. #beautiful (9/10)
For the drink, I ordered PASTIQUE ($15) – Seedlip garden & spice, watermelon soda,lemon oils (served long). I’m not a fan of non-alcoholic cocktails but this one is a really great and refreshing one! Love all the unique combination I never tried before. The spice really a great add-on to that soda. (9/10)
Finish the palette with a simple french dessert: CRÈME CARAMEL ($19) - Egg custard, bitter caramel. Just a simple caramel pudding that taste good, but nothing special. (7/10)

MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IN SYDNEY. I have been here many times and the food is always of high quality. I hold this restaurant to a high regard and usually the service is great however after my last experience and finding a hair, having a blunt judgmental waiter hint that they could never make that mistake, he didn’t give us an option as how we wanted to resolve it and speaking about us from a far. I have to drop a star for this. Lucky the food is to die for.

When you visit Restaurant Hubert be prepared to be transported to Paris in the 1920’s. The menu is classically French, the service impeccable, the food divine and the setting is completely gorgeous. I can’t wait to visit again, especially for the vacherin (pictured). #frenchfood #vacherin

Came here on a Friday eve for their aperitivo hour from 4-6pm, a variety of drinks at $5 including a G&T and w selection of bar snacks for under $5. Had that terrine for $5 and devilled egg for $3. Great ambience, drinks, food and service.

When you enter you actually go down quite a few stairs into a dimly lit, large room. Candles light the tables creating a romantic atmosphere. I’d happily eat here again.

Restaurant Hubert is a must do in your gastronomic adventures in Sydney. A fantastic place for dinner with friends, family, special occasions or a romantic date by glowing candlelight. The food is superb. We went for the jazz night (3 courses for $60, felt like good value) and even though the band didn't start on time, the staff let us stay later than our booking allowed so we could enjoy the music and they went above and beyond to make us happy. They also modified the menu for my friend who was vegetarian. Special thanks to Jacob. I've also been here for the degustation which was a great experience! A huge selection of wine and cocktails and cosy ambience unlike no other restaurant in Sydney. A restaurant you'll return to.
Great atmosphere, love the dark setting and great service. Ordered the gnocchi, perfectly creamy and not sickening. Also ordered the potato slides for sides drizzled in gravy and matched perfectly with all meat dishes. Highlight was the creame caramel for dessert, absolute hit! Highly recommend.
My friend and I arrived for dinner at 630pm and the restaurant was already full so we were seated at the bar. This wasn’t uncomfortable and we were provided with the same menu as other diners, so we were not displeased.
Best dishes to try: Escargot XO and the Duck Parfait Liver mousse, maple syrup jelly & Hubert baguette. I also greatly enjoyed the Prime Beef Tartare Wagyu topside, watercress & anchovy and the raw scallops, with peas and walnuts.

Crazy about this quaint little spot! They don’t take bookings but dining at the bar is lovely. Oysters are fresh and the duck pate is one of the best in Syd. Extensive whisky menu, and good French champagne! The cheese platter was average, but all is forgiven ;-)
This place has an amazing and unique environment. The food was spectacular and very different from what usually go for. The staff was extremely kind, considering how busy the night got. I’d say the only thing I’m disappointed in was the fact that I cannot book a table for two people and had to wait quite a while to be seated. However, the experience and the food was so good that I forgot about all that :) Great place, would definitely come back 👍🏻
Hubert is everything a French restaurant should be and more. We felt like we got whisked away to Paris of the past as we walked in through the doors. Their exquisite sharing plates paired with a great bottle of vino makes for the definition of a perfect night.
An amazing venue with a perfect location within the city with a really great atmosphere. The food is slightly heavy but that is common with French food. They cocktails and wine menu are also impressive.
Nice restaurant here in the CBD. The oysters were fresh straight from Sydney rocks. The dark parfait with the jelly on top was so moist and soft, just melts in your mouth. The gnocchi was soft and creamy as well and was different to many other places in that they added a crispy fried layer. Highly recommend this place for delicious, albeit slightly different food options. A little on the pricey side but not much different to the other places around.
I’ve been to Paris about a year ago and I went to some nice places. So I expected Hubert to be something similar. Wow upon entering the whole place was amazing! The music and the ambience was on point.
We came for lunch so even without a reservation we got seats. So we ordered a bit of everything to share and we were blown away! Service was professional but friendly. Overall I would love to come back and try the burger at the bar next time.

Hidden under a building is this amazing gem. Ambiance personified, that’s not all the food was amazing. The blood cake ....on the blood cake. I was dining at half five in the afternoon and the place was pumping, for good reason. Ready to return now!
Can’t go wrong with their steak and mushroom dish! Divine. My favourite dish has to be the gnochhi though. Love the crusted parmesan on top and the hidden cream on the bottom of the pasta. Yum.
I had such high expectations for this place as every single time I tried to get a table, next table available was 10pm (and this is me asking for a table for 2 at 6pm).
I finally got the chance to dine at Hubert and went all out. It was a collab birthday, we booked out their private theatre room that seats from 10-50 people. There was 20 of us so they set it up as a board room style.
The food was amazing, it was probably the BEST pate I’ve ever tried so far. Steak tartare was good and we all enjoyed the continuous free warm sourdough that kept coming out. XO escargot was yum.
Service was faultless.

A night out with a girlfriend equates to getting in touch with our artsy side. It started off with French dining at the Hubert and ended at the Russian Ballet at the State Theatre. It most certainly turned out to be a magical evening and even the Sydney weather could not dampen that.
Restaurant Hubert is located in downtown Sydney. Wind yourself down flights of stairs till you get to where all the hustle and bustle is. It was jam packed by the time we got there and low and behold that was our lucky night. With no booking we got a table for 2 straight up.
The restaurant itself is warm and inviting. This French restaurant has a menu to boot with food meant to be shared. Unfortunately, we could only order a few dishes because of the time constraint to get to the Ballet.
It started off with a cocktail and a 2015 Pichot Vouvray Brut - Loire Valley, France ( I do love my sparklings these days). The organic bread basket and butter was a huge hit with my friend. This was followed by raw yellowfin tuna, buckwheat and citrus, duck parfait and duck. The flavours were fresh and distinct for each of the dishes. Would I go here again? Yes, most definitely to try out what the rest of the menu has to offer.

One of the best dinner places in Sydney Hubert is where want to go to for some of the best food this city has to offer. The food, an elaborate wine list, and old world ambience - you can have it all and more! It’s an experience one must have to understand.
Been meaning to try Hubert for honestly so long! Restaurant only accepts walk-ins so be prepared to wait up to a few hours for your table. Decor provided a unique rustic French feel, and ambience was lively and dim.
We ordered a few of the small dishes to share and try a few as the large dishes were quite large for 2 people.
All dishes were absolutely amazing! The raw fish was delicious, super fresh, top quality fish and refreshing flavours. The buttery escargot goes so well with the malakof dish (grilled cheese), and the gnocchi was to die for!!!! Soft, fluffy gnocchi’s that literally melted in your mouth, creamy sauce and to top it off deep fried choux.
Would definitely return to try the remaining dishes!!

Absolutely divine! Top marks for food, atmosphere and service. Almost every dish was a standout, special mentions: the XO snails were life changing, the kimchi gratin amazing and the cote de beuff, just wow. The only bad choice was the coconut dessert but the creme caramel more than made up for it

Have been waiting to come here for a while.. dying to find a nice French restaurant, this place hits the spot. I would give a 4.5 but can only give a 4 star in this app. Loved the tuna tartare and escargot 🐌 was sooo delicious I could have 3 served to myself 😃 and desert champagne gelee 🍾 was also something that I tried for the first time~ price wise is a little bit higher according to the presentation but food quality is good.
Apart from the long wait if you didn’t make a booking everything was delicious atmosphere 10 food 10 would definitely return. My favourite French restaurant so far in Australia. Their creme caramel is exceptional 😋 Best to dine in the restaurant not bar, however unfortunately, no booking is allowed! Except for groups of 5 or more i think. But definitely worth the line up!
Really good place this. Great vibe and romantic atmosphere.
We found this out by accident but they have a happy hour, which has cheaper food and drinks. The only main on the menu during happy hour is the burger, but there are plenty of other smaller (very good) options as well.
And of course as well did you can just order extra stuff at full price.
Gin and tonic was smooth and the food was delicious.

Described by Good Food as "romantic, ravishing and dishing up food that dazzles" - I knew that this was where I wanted to eat at for my birthday this year! I'm so happy to report that despite the wait times for a table and so-so service from the staff, it did not disappoint. From the moment we pushed open the big and unassuming wooden doors and ventured down the windy wooden stairs to Hubert, I was incredibly in love with the whole place already. The restaurant was elegant and exciting with delicious foods to match (see more details in my blog post)
Amazing atmosphere. Won over my family who don't usually enjoy fine dining. Great prices as well, portions were decent sized and food came out quick.
Beef tartare was the biggest highlight and I would return for this alone. I also really enjoyed the crab with brioche. Chicken was decent but over hyped. Steak was ordered medium rare but came back almost completely rare with a tiny crust. Just something to note.
For desserts I loved the creme caramel but the souffle was average.
Oh they also came out with a little sweet treat for my birthday which is a nice little touch!
Only thing I would note is our server encouraged us to order more. Glad I didn't as we could not finish what we ordered let alone if we ordered more.
Worth the wait, a group of 3 friends and I waited about 4 weeks for our reservation and it was definitely worth it. Just ordered the set menu and got 2 bottles of red wine and was reasonably priced. The food was incredible and experience 2nd to none. Live Jazz playing with that dim lighting creates an excellent atmosphere. Great service and food, great for a date spot, will be returning in the future.
10/10 experience. A perfect blend of the ambience, live jazz and martini’s. The staff were attentive and made sure we were looked after. Every dish ordered was delicious. Portion sizes were decent and we finished the meal feeling contently full. The crème caramel was not too sweet and the best way to wrap up the meal - possibly one of my favourite desserts in Sydney. Highly recommend for date night.
Had an amazing time here for my anniversary. We overordered and ended up being too full for dessert unfortunately. We ordered the escargot with baguette, beef tartare, gnocchi, 300g flank and 300g scotch fillet. Everything tasted amazing. I’ve forgotten the name however they have a special Hubert cocktail which I ordered and surprisingly enjoyed (I don’t usually like cocktails). My partner also ordered 3 beers, all of which tasted well. The jazz added a unique vibe in the atmosphere and it appeared everyone in the room enjoyed it.
Wow! What an amazing experience. Fantastic atmosphere, phenomenal live band, delicious food, beautiful wine and vigilant staff in the age of COVID. Special mention to Mitch who made our evening special and Jackson the manager for a well organized night. Looking forward to my next visit, best restaurant in town!!
Very nice and great restaurant with perfect decor and full menu of drinks. The food was okay and I didn’t include the food quality in my rating as I guess they served it in late hours and if we went there earlier perhaps the menu and the food quality could have been better. However the drink was perfect and fantastic.
I will give them another chance in future to try out their food one more time and that’s mainly because of the very nice staff and atmosphere.
Everything is just amazing here. We arrived late due to traffic and had to changed booking twice, glad we were able to make it. You can close your eyes and order anything and trust their food. All the foods are just amazing! The service is a bit disappointing that the waiter who served us was always cutting in between us, rushing to take things away, no interactions. But other waiter or waitresses or runners hosts are just amazing! So still five star! Will definitely be my go to every time in Sydney!
Amazing ambiance. Reminded me of this beautiful old colonial theatre I used to go to as a kid.
The food was scrumptious, large portions which you can share. Perfectly cooked.
All this with great jazz that adds to the theatre of this place.
