I was there with a group of friends and we all loved it: simple menu but high quality. The pizza base is amazing: very light and crunchy. All ingredients are fresh, healthy and tasty. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere warm. I definitely recommend Al Taglio!!! Enrico is a passionate and experienced pizza chef.

Wow! I tried so many pizzas, but I must say Al taglio take the pizzas to another level. Without any doubt best pizza in Sydney. Fantastic value, Friendly service, and cozy venue. It clicks all the boxes of a good restaurant. Don't forget to try their Aperol Spritz.

This is by far, the best pizza i have eaten in sydney. Beautifully fresh ingredients and the base is just perfect. You can taste and see the passion and care that went into making every pizza. Exceptional . And such good people too! Sydney's newest and best pizza!

I kept eating until it was all gone because it totally delicious. Yes I was full but not to the point of being sick or uncomfortable for hours. (Having pizza sweats) this pizza was lighter yet not comprised with flavour or texture. It's a must try!! All this talk about Al Taglio pizza makes me want another slice 🍕

E stata una esperienza bellissima. Dopo tanto tempo che aveva voglia di una buona PIZZA ho avuto il piacere di capitare in questa pizzeria. Non la definirei una pizza "come in Italia " perché non ovunque si ha la fortuna di trovare un pizzaiolo con una Tecnica e una valorizzazione dei prodotti come questo. Impasto e ingredienti ottimo. Da pizzaiolo quale sono faccio i miei complimenti!

Amazing service, delicious Italian wines and some of the best pizza I’ve had in Sydney! Their crust is so thick but the pizzas have more than enough toppings so you don’t feel like you’re eating just bread. I tried the Diavola and the Carbonara pizzas, and while both were delicious, the Carbonara one was definitely my favourite. They also have vegan and gluten free pizzas, and on the weekends you can choose to have a wholemeal sourdough base for you pizza. Will definitely be back!

Best gluten free pizza I've ever had.

And this is not a conclusion I've drawn from a limited sample size. I have dedicated myself to this study, and Al Taglio comes out on top.

The gluten free pizza is almost indistinguishable from the gluten full pizza base. Light, fluffy(!). Worth the extra $5 it costs. It's not aggressively cheesy though. More like pizza base with a light topping of tomato and cheese.

Note that all their pizzas appear to come with the slices separated, drizzled with olive oil and a handful of rocket in the middle (per my photo, a gluten free 80s margherita). I wasn't complaining.

Lovely evening, prompt service, excellent pizza. Waiters were extremely present and checked in every 5 minutes or so, which was a bit much.

No free wifi.

We ha a booking for 10, and although it was rather cramped given the small nature of the restaurant, we had exceptional service and the best pizzas we’ve ever eaten in Sydney. Thank you for making such a memorable experience for us!

Hands down the best pizzas in Sydney! 🍕 .
All @altaglio_theartofpizza’s pizzas have a sourdough crust which is the star of the show! The Margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella cream is simple yet full of flavour and the potato cream pizza is creamy and light.
Excellent service, cozy ambience, fantastic food - hidden gem!!

Good pizza, as befits the high prices. The sourdough base seemed overly chewy to me but they really piled on tasty toppings (the amatriciana pizza tasted great, except for the lack of chilli).

I was totally new to Sydney and Today was actually my last day staying here before getting on a 10-hour flight heading back to my home. I simply googled the nearest pizza restaurant located near my hotel, and there was an awesome place recommended with high rates, i.e., Al Taglio. I guess that I was probably the first customer to visit the restaurant today as its opening hour is 5:30 PM. I was lucky to order menu right after I arrived there. Actually, I was a bit nervous because I was travelling alone and also a bit worried because I might leave so many pieces of pizza as I usually get full with 2-3 pieces. But surprisingly, I ONLY left 2 pieces out of one full pizza! There would be several reasons for this, and I would say first, it was so delicious. Secondly (and most importantly), my stomach was not bloated at all! What an Amazing, Magical experience? I assume that, this second part would be where the Chef's philosophy and science of making pizza focus on. Most of all, I could feel the positive energy, pride and passion of Chef have towards his pizza - and this made me pay more attention to eating pizza, which was a very positive experience from customer perspective. Plus, the Staff was very, very kind and served with a timely manner, also had a very, very good voice. :) Thank you for the BEST pizza in my life at Sydney! Wish you all the best. :)

The rating is purely because of the staff working there, the staff is very kind and ready to accommodate any request and serve u well in their busiest operation. We postponed our reservation by 30 minutes which they accommodated inspite the restaurant was full. Hospitality at it's best...
Food is pretty good and delicious but less options on the menu, expected more pasta options, we had ceprese salad, 4 cheese pizzas with truffle mushroom with wine and beers. the pizzas were very flavourful. if u are a top-notch and enjoy truffle this is best recommendation, go for it they are generous with truffle oil and mushrooms!! it's worth value!! The wine that we were drinking was not available lately, may be because we had too many lolzz... and we had to take a different varietal. Overall a nice experience, good ambience, and once again would like to mention rating goes high just because of the amazing staff working with u. they are your assest. Thank u for the lovely evening. We all enjoyed!!!

Al Taglio has been on my radar for a fair while, and I'm glad that I finally had the chance to enjoy dinner there 🤤

The bar was already set high, and as my rating says I was let down the slightest bit.
The pizza base alone was amazing, but there's more. The pizza options offered on their menu all sound delicious, even the specials and vegan options - with the menu offering options that steer clear from the traditional choices that I'm more familiar with. We couldn't go past the 4 formaggi and truffle, and the only regret is that I didn't order 2 of them since it was such a winner on the palate!

Amazing pizza. Staff were extremely accommodating, happy to fit us in before the evening rush as we weren't going to be long. Pizza came out prompt, hot and crunchy, a perfect tomato base. Different little concept of smaller slices and some salad at the centre of the pizza.

This is definitely the most amazing pizza I ever had. I'm not joking, and believe me I've tasted many and I'm very critical being a pastry chef and baker.
The art of the natural fermentation is what give to those pizza an amazing flavour and texture
The topping are very high quality.
These two things make the pizza very special and you will be amazed

How great is this pizza place? The food is fantastic- it's a funky local pizza/italian. Does great wine/aperol spritz, Caprese salad is always made with great ingrediants, ask for Enrico's award winning pizza specials. (Seriously - the pizza chef here has won Pizza World Championship before he had his own place) AND the Birra'misu dessert

We popped in to Al Taglio after visiting the Absinthesalon (across the road) for dinner later one evening and couldn’t believe our luck.
Operated by really lovely guys, their pizzas were done really well (innovative use of toppings). I’m pretty sure I’ve also read that the chef has quite a few awards under his belt. You can see why after dining here.
Extra points for also having a great wine list and making a damn good Aperol Spritz.

Great Italian restaurant! Really surprised by the poor rating (3.3, really?) because it absolutely does not deserve it! My favorite pizza there is the Al Taglio. The service is great, prices decent and I really like the location.

It seems that the curse of this location has finally been broken. There was Josh and Ai’s little cafe ages ago, a bruschetta place, and another Italian place. No one could ever seem to make it work. But along comes Al Taglio and there’s a nice buzz to it, and I always see it busy. It was time to try it out (Though this was about six weeks ago! My trip to NY interrupted this blog post).

The pizza was beautifully executed. The base was thin and crusty. Good quality Ingredients made the pizzas more interesting and tasty. The choice of not alcoholic drinks is very limited- they only have Coke Zero. Overall, recommended.

Firstly, thank you Enrico for this dinner, we had a great evening. The pizzas were just excellent, especially the 4-cheese pizza which, when we got it on the table had an incredible smell of fresh truffle.

As for the wines, the red wine was just incredible and and in addition organic. We recommend this address to everyone who are in Sidney.

This is definitely the best restaurant we did during our trip in Australia.

We Will recommend your place to everyone who are going to Sydney.

A big thank you ! And prices are more than reasonable....

I went to albion street to buy things for my kitchen and I saw " al taglio " I said , is lunch time , why not ? I chose three different flavors . I can only tell you don t go to eat at this place , the ' pizza dough is too good and a lightness , the lamb was soft and tasty, bean cream was heavenly , no I do not think sydney is ready for this paradise of taste thanks guys great job

Had the salad with mozarella cheese, tomato and bread which was really nice and fresh. Ordered two pizzas as well - both were very unique and delicious. Nothing like any other pizza places. Friend of mine who's been to Italy said the pizza and the mozarella cheese tasted exactly like what she had in Italy.

Nice cozy place - would definitely go back and recommend this place to anyone who' looking for good food at a clean, relaxed atmosphere.

Al Taglio in Surry Hills is the new "go to" pizzeria. It opened recently with master pizza chef @sgarbossa_enrico at the helm. Enrico's food is fresh and wholesome. His philosophy is not only to create natural and tasty food but to be environmentally aware as well. The wine glasses are up cycled bottles, the table decor is a pot of herbs and the plates are bamboo. The decor is simple but effective with artwork by a local Sydney artist @claudiabrand and the background music is just that. Our aperitif was mouthwatering,the Caprese salad had the freshest mozzarella, the Pizza Diavola with spelt base was sublime and to top it off a biscotti to dip in red wine or coffee rounded off the meal.

Ridiculously amazing pizzas!

I got the Calabrese (sausage) and it came out very quickly and cooked to perfection. The crust was so delicious and simple. Slightly crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside.

The pizzas here are the perfect size for a quick lunch and it comes out in like 6 minutes.

Definitely go here and check this place out.

The interior is amazing as well and the people who work here are very friendly and the service is great!
