This is such a delightful place hidden away in a small lane. I attended here for dinner on a Thursday night and we were only one of two tables. This actually really surprised me after eating their food, but I suppose the location may have contributed to it. It's a tapas place so you get small meals to share. The food was delicious. You would need about four dishes for two people and I thought the price was fairly reasonable for where it is.
A quick search on Zomato with a filter for good ratings vegetarian food and within walking distance from Grosvenor Street – and we found Vintage Café as one of the option and decided to go for it.
Not a bad choice – It is nice little restaurant @ Nurses Walk – with small tables and wooden verandah. I laid back ambience and good food. I reckon as all of us (5 of them) ordered different foods and each one of us liked it. I ordered Mediterranean Salad and it was delicious. Crispy greens + mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, Asparagus, olives, caramelized onion topped with feta cheese). I also shared a slice of vegetarian pizza with my colleague and we both agreed that it was good). Dessert and Coffee were not tried. Chilled beer in a balmy & sunny afternoon and good food with a laid back ambience – what else you expect from a leisurely lunch? .
I had planned to go somewhere else for lunch, but stumbled across this little place along the Nurse’s Walk in The Rocks. The small tables along narrow wooden verandah and a man playing and singing along to his acoustic guitar enticed me to walk about the steps and sit down at a table.
Their menu has a selection of simple and tasty dishes, but it was their blackboard special of wild salmon with potatoes and a glass of house wine for $30 that caught my eye. It seemed like a good deal and I was after something simple but tasty after having walked the streets for the last few hours.
What came out was a clean dish nicely arranged in stack and some buttery sauce around the dish The fish was cooked perfectly and was succulent melt in the mouth; a pure delight. The potatoes were also wonderful, probably the best I have had in a long while. Seasoned nicely with moist centres. The sauce was simple, but gave the whole dish a lovely buttery balance. It all went well with the Sauvignon Blanc.
I must say it was a very memorable meal sitting on the verandah listening to the beautiful relaxing music while enjoying people watching. I would definitely recommend this place.
The hot clay vegetarian breakfast went down a treat. Served in a terracotta ramekin, it's a stodgy affair of baked beans, spinach, asparagus, onion, a little chilli and poached eggs.
Expensive, but a nice place to be.. We only ordered sandwiches at $17 each there not cheap... but sitting out on the skinny deck in the back streets of the rocks... We through it was worth it. Can understand others finding it expensive
Cosy little hideaway and such a great find. Friendly staff and fast service. The best iced chocolate I've ever had! I will definitely be coming back.
Loved it! Had dinner here with mu boyfriend during the Vivid festival on Saturday night. Stumbled across this cute little place in the nurses walk. Small but great atmosphere. Brazilian Bossa Nova live singer made the night ( as well as the yummy sangria). Great friendly service. Good food. Loved the grilled octopus and the mushrooms w ricotta and feta. Yum! A little pricey though, but I guess it is the rocks. :)
Tucked away delight.. We 'found' Vintage Café' on our last trip to Sydney. This time we returned by choice.
It's small, but that's an observation, not a criticism. The service is good. What we love is the fun music they play.
We came for brunch and had an omelette and 'Vintage Breakfast'. The rye toast looked amazing so I scoffed it first. WOW!
Nothing to fault about the breakfast and I cleaned my plate as I hit 'full up'. GF liked her Mediterranean omelette.
We will definitely return on our next visit. We really liked it.
Seriously one of the Best Paella. We went there for dinner on a Friday night and we were def happy with the atmosphere and the Paella. The tapas were overpriced for what they were but they made it up with the excellent seafood Paella! I would def go back there for the Paella again.
Cosy. Decent food (breakfast for us) with plenty of flavour and a good size for the price. The coffee could have done with a bit more flavour though.
The friendly staff were attentive without being intrusive and the place had a good vibe for an early, rainy morning.
On the downside it's a bit cramped (cosy?) with the owners trying to jam paying customers into every available space but with the overheads in an area like The Rocks, I'm not surprised.
