Don't let the word "diner" fool you, even though it is down a small street. It is small and casual, but the food is nothing like typical diner food! Hubby and I read good reviews and thought we would try our last night in Sydney. What a gem! Delicious good, great wait staff and fun, neighborhood atmosphere that plays blues and country type music. The meat tray with prosciutto, salami and cheese was the perfect start. Special was pork belly with whipped potatoes and beet root. Pork was so tender and I'm not a beet person, but the beet root with cream sauce was delicious. Highly recommend!

Best Italian food in Australia! This is our new favourite Sydney restaurant! We went last night and already want to go back. The charcuterie board was amazing - generous portions of the best prosciutto, cheese and homemade pickles we’ve had. And the pasta. OMG the pasta. We tried all three. Simple, quality ingredients cooked well. The gnocchi with the n’duja was perfectly cooked and the flavour was amazing. The cacio e pepe was also al dented and delicious. And the carbonara was simple the best carbonara we’ve ever eaten. Please eat it, even if just for the beyond deliciously crispy bits of porchetta!!! And the service was fabulous too! Efficient, knowledgable and friendly and not at all pretentious. Can’t wait to go back!

SO... Where to start ? Atmosphere, people, food and drinks... everything is well nailed. We had a fantastic evening, the atmosphere of this place is really nice, for couples, or friends. The food is tasty, well presented. Staff is very welcoming. Had a little crush on their wine list... organic or biodynamic for the most of it. My new fav in Potts point !

Even If I was the love child of Shakespeare and Austen I would not be eloquent enough to put in to words how ridiculously amazing this place is. The food is unbelievable and the service even better. The staff make you feel like you have just popped over for dinner at their own house they are that welcoming. If Sydney had more venues like this it would be a step in the right direction.

I was recommended this place for a bite to eat, from where I was sitting I wanted to eat the whole menu. Food was fantastic, drinks atmosphere and staff were just wonderful. If you don't venture out you will miss this treat in Sydney.

Chester is from far my favourite place in Sydney! Stu & nick are welcoming and their service is excellent. The food is well serve and always the best quality whenever you go there you know you won't be disappointed. Chester white, definitely in your bucket list ... and after the first time you will definitely come back!

The restaurant was an experience, an experience we will never forget. The atmosphere Chester White has created, is a mixture of welcoming, homely, cosy, & pure deliciousness! This is the most perfect date night... We walked in as strangers & left as a loved one! If I had to choose a favourite dish it would be: Truffle Cacio E Pepe Spaghetti, salt & pepper, parsley, black truffles. Served out of a Sardinian truffled cheese wheel. But don't stop there, the flavour of the cured meats & pickles leaves you questioning how you've lived life this long without tasting flavours like that! We'll be back! �+�+�=�

It's been a while that a restaurant in Sydney can score 10/10 food, 10/10 atmosphere, 10/10 value and 10/10 service. Chester White has fulfilled all that and more. All dishes we ordered were delicious and their signature pasta out of a truffle cheese wheel did not disappoint. Love this place! Will definitely come back.

Amazing truffle pasta and definitely one of the best in Sydney! Service is usually outstanding, however have recently experienced unfriendly service with one of the waitresses there on two separate occasions.

This place is an absolute gem of a find. Although a little bit squeeshy for a group of 5-6 the food here was absolutely exquisite. Especially the pasta from A CHEESE WHEEL. A lot of the time we eat pastas that are drenched in sauce but with Chester? It was the perfect balance - just the way I like it!

Waited an hour in the rain but definitely worthwhile the waiting. We had the cheese wheel pasta and the carbonara, both delicious! Loved the deco and ambience too! Have to mention their friendly staff are all awesome!

For lunch here, I had their meat platter (Culatello Prosciutto + Truffle Salami) and my friend had their Truffle Cacio é Pepe, then we each had our glasses of Pinot Noir and Prosecco. The dishes by themselves were ammmmazing.😍 I never thought I’d be fully satisfied with our meal.

My favourite carbonara ever!! Also the truffle cheese wheel pasta is to die for. Everything here has always been a treat. They make their own pickles and chilli sauce which are great accompaniments. Tiny place so can be hard to get a table but worth the wait. Will come back any day ❤️❤️

A very small cosy restaurant with super cool staff and amazing food! I loved the truffle cheese wheel spaghetti with the chilli paste the serve with it! Their carbonara and gnocchi was pretty good - needed a bit more flavour in my opinion.

It's a 5. I had been wanting to come here for 9 months because of rave reviews and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Chester White is food meets a show pulled off in a homely manner.

The service is fantastic and so personable. By far the best service I have received. And the food. Well. The Cacio e Pepe lived up to its expectation and proved that simple is best. The Carbonara, gnocchi and platter were all full of flavour and so balanced. I could have double the amount of pasta to myself hands down. I will be returning without a doubt.

Not as good as buffalo dining, the cacio e pepe was a little too oily. Having said that, it was still delicious.

The place was a little too small. It felt like the space might have been best used as a small cafe rather than a restaurant.

I could eat pasta all day errday but Chester White takes it to the next level! All I need to say is that this is my favourite pasta in Sydney! I always order all three pastas and I highly recommend an apperol to wash it down! The best part? You get lunch or dinner AND a show when the cheese wheel theatrics begin!

They serve you hot pasta from a wheel of cheese. A WHEEL OF CHEESE, PEOPLE! If that doesn't strike your fancy, or you're with a group and want to try the rest of the menu, there is meat and cheese platters, with your choice of meats from a large selection, and number of other delicious dishes. The slow cooked lamb is tender and well seasoned. If it's busy, they take your number and call you when a table is ready, which gives you time you go around the corner to Jangling Jack's for a pre-dinner cocktail or beer.

IT IS OFFICIAL... I have found my new favourite restaurant to date! I had been wanting to try chester white out for quite some time now, but it wasn't until last Friday night I ended up in Potts point on a little dinner adventure that resulted in me FINALLY being able to try out this little GEM!

Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner of the restaurant (Service was an 11/10!!) who seated us out the front but explained we would be moved inside shortly. There was the PERFECT amount of time between us arriving, looking at the menu, ordering, drinks and having our food come out. The owner explained the different wines and made recommendations based on our preferences and it is safe to say that all of his recommendations were amazing!

When it came to the entree's, we ordered the cured platter with the capacollo prosciutto (from the shoulder blade) and the morcon salami (classic spanish salami with chilli, garlic, paprika, rum, nutmeg and more!). Honestly the best prosciuttio I have ever come across! The meats were shaved to perfection and the cheeses, olives and pickles served with them complimented them perfectly too. For our mains we ordered the ricotta ghnocchi (hand rolled and MADE IN HOUSE with basil and hazelnut pesto) and the truffled cacio e pepe (spaghetti, salt and pepper, parsley, black truffles, served out of a sardinian truffled pecorino cheese wheel). Normally I am not a fan of ghnocchi at all BUT I would legitimately come back here to get this particular dish. It melted in my mouth and the flavour of the pesto was so incredibly fresh that I was in heaven! The truffle cacio e pepe was divine also! So fresh, so tasy and it was something I could not fault! Overall, the music, service, atmosphere, and ofcourse the FOOD was all incredible and I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

I was really worried about going to Chester seeing as i had a bad experience at buffalo dining club but seriously this place impressed me. Its a tiny crack in the wall so you will have to wait a while but defs worth it. Service was great as well.
Not your standard Italian food but an Aus version of... still amazing though.

If i was to give one piece of advice it would be to remove all the buffalo dining restaurants, cause they stink, and replace them with this.

Super lovely people running the place! It's very cosy spot so no bookings but we were lucky that there was still space for us when we got there around 7:30pm.

Had the roasted cauliflower, truffle spaghetti (served out of an awesome cheese wheel - like buffalo dining club) and carbonara. All amazing. They even make their own chilli sauce, which kind of reminds me of the chilli sauce you get when you have hainanese chicken rice. Pretty sure I cleaned up half the jar...

Would definitely go back 👌🏻

Truffled Pasta tasted amazing! The waiter serves it off a cheese bowl? just a lil disappointed at portion size.
The Gnocchi w spicy sauce was just alright, it was more mashed potato than flour tho (++points)
Duck Pate as a starter was very nice as well.

Service and ambience are very good and attentive.

I love this place ! It's a simple menu and I loved every single thing I tried ! Even the picked grapes in the salad and home made chilly source !! The spaghetti from truffle cheese wheel is definitely a must try! The boys are super friendly and knows they food well. Only downsize is the place is a bit small, so to get a table is at lease one hour wait on Friday night! But it is definitely worth it!

Yes that's a five star review! I mean why wouldn't it be?! From the ministry we called to book and they took our number for the waitlist, and then called us back when table was available, to the excellent cocktail bar nearby that they recommended we wait at, to the attentive service and friendliness through our dinner, we felt we had been hosted by friends. And the food. To die for pasta. Between the truffle pasta and the carbonara... I am still salivating days later. A true gem.

The only reason I am not giving this a 5 star is I actually don't eat meat - ssshhh don't tell them! The good vibes just pour out of this place and you can't help but want to pull up a chair and watch their bar/kitchen move like music multi tasking. Please go, order a drink and anything they suggest you should eat - it all looked divine!

One bucket list checked! I was curious about this resto since after watched short video on my friend's sister instagram. So there's pasta swirl on giant cheese bowl. So i'm okay even i should waiting for 1 hour to get empty table. I was ordered truffle pasta (which swirled on giant pecorino cheese) and hubby ordered organic lamb shoulder. My pasta was awesome, it even only pasta with garlic, parsley and chive but pecorino cheese make it tastier. Please make rsvp before came here or else you will get long wait.

It was a culinary experience to dine at the Chester White Cured Diner. The Truffle spaghetti served out of a giant truffled pecorino cheese wheel was indeed a spectacular sight! We were wowed by the deliciousness of the truffle pasta. Serving was a little towards the small side, but the staff were really friendly! Too bad they don't serve desserts!

Very small, but lovely restaurant! Really enjoyed the atmosphere and staff who were all super friendly, passionate and knowledgeable about the food and wine. All the food is cooked behind the bar, I loved the they brought the the food around to the table and finished it off , which was a really nice touch.
The menu is small but great! I had the carbonara , which was the best carbonara I have ever had. Super tasty. But the group all shared and everything was just as lovely.
This restaurant isn't good for big groups, be a struggle for anymore then 4. But perfect date place.

Chester White Diner after one visit became a new favourite of mine, i’m that much of a fan i’ve even arrange to go back with friends on the weekend. They’ve nailed it with all the essentials – think quaffable wine and mouth-watering meats with low-key vibes in a retro diner. The Truffled Cacio E Pepe needs special mention. Spaghetti, olive oil and pepper is mixed in a wheel of cheese so the flakes of mouth watering truffle parmesan are scraped off the sides as it’s mixed…. leaving you in total foodie heaven!

Chester White Cured Diner is the sister restaurant to Buffalo Dining Club, and although I had tried Buffalo Dining Club some time ago, I was again in the mood to eat pasta out of a giant cheese wheel (is there any other mood?) and decided to try Chester White for some sort of minor variation. In some sort of serendipitous coincidence, Chester White recently started opening for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, and it was about a week or two after this that I decided to come, having been turned down on a Friday evening.

Chester White is almost like a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Fits about 30 diners at the one seating, so its always good to come early. We waited for about 30mins on a Saturday which wasn't too bad.

Seated at the front by the pavement we were presented with a simple A4 sized menu. Ordered the two pastas from their menu and the cured meats. Forgot the names of the cured meats but I'm pretty sure they got one wrong, unless salami is supposed to look like that.

Definitely try their pastas! We enjoyed every mouthful and it was entertaining watching then present one in a wheel of cheese. The owners?waiters? Were really friendly. They explained the menu to us and checked up on us throughout the night, even made small conversations.

Even though the restaurant is small and the menu is simple, their food tastes great, they cook their pasta well, they have great pride in what they do and they make you want to dine again.

Now you wouldn't expect to find such a cute little diner amongst what seems to be one of the backpacker regions of the city!

Set in what appears to be a retro styled cottage, Chester white is not your regular family dining spot with just a few seats, a tiny bar and a cute picket fence outdoor seating area, be prepared to arrive early or during a quieter time of the day to reserve a seat! Since they only accept walk-ins.

Of course I ordered their truffle pasta! Mmmm truffleeee, although a bit too peppery for my liking I still enjoyed it thoroughly, can never go wrong with some truffle pasta 😋 and I love how they stir the pasta at your table before serving it onto your plate. However, I was still hungry though, hm maybe next time I'll try their cured meats as well.

You would be forgiven if you walk half way down Orwell street and turn back when all you see is a few backpacker hostels and some suspicious looking characters at the local park. But just before check your directions again, a diner appears out of nowhere being set in a tiny renovated cottage that has blended into the neighbourhood. 

You are almost instantly welcomed by some very hospitable staff, whom I assume one was the owner who was friendly and very helpful. This was a Sunday and we were given a simplified breakfast and lunch menu which was missing some of the ceviche and seafood we we saw and were after.

We didn't have a big appetite so regrettably didn't order one of their signature dishes - their pastas, although I did see them make it and served with a bit of a show at the table.

We chose the Cured Meat platter and had a tough choice choosing their premium range of Salami and Prosciutto each with a brief but useful description. Finally settled on the Culatello which was described as the king of Proscuittos and the Nduja which was the hot salami. The Proscuitto was unlike your cafe or supermarket variety with no hint of a bloody flavour or chewiness, it was soft and buttery and almost melted in your mouth, The Salami was was run of the mill but just couldn't go past the "Hot" description. Perhaps I need to try their Truffle Salami or other very interesting meats next time. It came with turkish bread (untoasted), pickled carrot, pickles, grapes, two types of cheeses but they forgot to include the olives.

My wife ordered a sparkling water and we were given a 750ml bottle which was ridiculous. The Platter, water, a glass of Prosecco and a Pilsner came to $58. Although the cured meats were excellent, it was still essentially a antipasto with 3 drinks that added up to a price of a decent lunch or basic dinner. Not sure what everyone is talking about when they refer to this place as cheap. Maybe I'm hanging round with the wrong crowd.

This is a really small but really cute little place. I made the mistake of ordering a meat plate and a main and could not finish my main. But at least you get to take it home! The food was delicious but as everywhere now the wine was overpriced. The service is friendly and on top of things. Great for a casual date night. Would definitely recommend.

Big fan of this place. Have been here a few times. It's a very small venue, tucked away in a little laneway. The service is generally great, particularly when the owners are there. The first time we came here we knew we would be back because the bartender would keep looking over at our table and when our drinks looked like they were almost finished he would ask us if we needed new drinks without being prompted. The food is awesome too and very, very reasonably priced....especially for Sydney. The menu is simple but whatever I've eaten on it has been delicious. Great value for money. It gets very busy on a Friday and Saturday so either try and go very early (6pm) or you'll probably have to put your name down on their wait list but they will promptly call you when your table is free. Not great for large groups....better for a couple or a group of max 4.

The truffle cacio e pepe spaghettini here takes the Buffalo Dining cacio pepe to the next level. With a pungent truffle aroma, a peppery punch and added chives, this is the pasta of my dreams.

You've seen Buffalo Dining Club's spaghetti in a cheese wheel, now try Chester White Cured Diner's spaghetti in a truffle cheese wheel! Get the Meat Platter (2 meats with sides $20, added 2 more meats for $6 each). We choose the Culatello ITA (King of cured meats the menu exclaims), Truffle Salami, Sopressa Salami and Fennel Garlic Salami and the board is crammed with pickled carrots, cauliflower and radishes, bread, slabs of asiago and fontina cheeses and of course some olives.

Chester White on Orwell street is Sydney’s greatest new small bar. It has undergone major renovations and I have to reckon that it is the coolest venue I’ve seen on the Sydney scene so far… Think Culatelo, speck,  capocollo, truffle salumi… It’s like you’re in Italy.

Lovely venue - really good wines and food to match. The ceviche was particularly good. Great place for a pre dinner drink or light meal. Also very nice to sit on the verandah outside without being on a busy road with lots of traffic like places in Surry Hills or Newtown

Tiny, hipster and good:). My man told me he can't cook without a glass of wine in one hand and that conversation led us to stop at Chester White to have one, well, two actually, on the way to Harris Farm for some grocery shopping as he was planning to cook something nice for me for dinner.
It's a very nice little spot on Orwell Street, Potts Point. Small bar, two guys with tattoos behind the bar mixing cocktails, preparing some quick meals and meat&cheese boards while having a conversation with you. It felt bit hipster looking at the two of them and the crowd but I guess that's what people are after now as the place was full.
We just had some wine and a meat board with cheese and pickles which was very reasonably priced and tasted good too. This place is a great spot on your way out on Friday or Saturday or just for a quick bite on your way home from work...or grocery shopping:)
These guys also have Buffalo Dining Club in Darlinghurst as they proudly told us. I've heard a lot good things about it and after the nice experience in Chester White it is already on our to-try list.

What a daring little venture this is. Embedded so firmly in its niche; the owners would understand that there's no room for error and you have to execute it perfectly. And that's exactly what they've done!

It's such a tasteful throwback to the prohibition era that's you be forgiven for mistakenly thinking Chester White had been nestled in the back streets of Potts Point since the Tilly Devine days. It is tastefully decorated with optimum utilisation of this quirky space. It's a well considered use of a single fronted terrace that typifies the area. Everything is thought of; from the fixed stools at intimate spacings to magnets that pin the fresh cutlery to the wall. Even the menu and drinks list is perfectly integrated into creating a groovy, relaxed atmosphere with limited space.

The menu creatively delivers cured meats and pick platters perfect for that in between snack over a few drinks or a Saturday afternoon starter. The lamb was delicious, the seafood scallop arrangement (name escapes me) was absolutely exploding with flavour and the bresaola was delicious also!

The service was brilliant. That perfect balance of engagement, welcoming, explaining the menu yet not annoying. For a place that's only been open for two weeks, the team work together seamlessly.

To get the maximum enjoyment out of Chester White, I would recommend it only for couples or groups of 2-3.

All in all, this is a little gem that you must check out!

The perfect date night 😍 We came for the cheese wheel pasta, and it did not disappoint! The truffle was perfection, and the experience added to the ambience. Tucked away on a quiet street in Potts Point, you are welcomed by friendly staff who regularly check in to see whether you are satisfied. The drinks were fabulous and we enjoyed all the little touches, 100% recommend! 🍝

Have been here a few times and can’t fault the customer service, ambience and good food. Highly recommended with a group of friends, or a casual romantic night out with your significant other. Make sure to order the cheese wheel pasta, it’s their signature dish and it’s one for a reason.

I love the place, the service was great and friendly. The food is perfection. Every bite of it tastes tremendous. Too good to be true! Don’t forget to ask for chilli. They serve the best homemade chilli that goes with every of their dish (if you like spicy).

We had our annual small-group luncheon here in December and I can't speak highly enough of the place. Food and wine were excellent, the ambience was great and the service was exceptional. Thanks Stu and his staff for looking after our every need, I'm sure it will be fondly remembered for years to come.

A gorgeous little diner to sit and watch people go by. We got the tasting menu, where you can either let the servers choose for you, or choose your own. I would never normally order pasta, but it came in a wheel of truffle cheese and was AMAZING! The house made duck pate is worth visiting for alone. The wait staff were warm and friendly. Highly recommend!

We celebrated our daughter's birthday at this restaurant and loved it. The food is interesting and delicious not to mention the service is exceptional. The restaurant has a very intimate and local feel to it which makes it all the more special. A big thanks to Stu and staff. You deserve every success espcially during these challenging times.
