Momos didn't taste authentic, the sauce was amazing and had the same taste you get in Nepal however the momos could be better. The cocktail was too sweet and didn't have enough alcohol in it.

We shared the thali and a goat curry. The thali came with chicken curry, black lentil stew, a potato and spinach side, chutney, yogurt and rice. It's a great sampler dish though the lentils were very salty. Loved the goat curry - the meat was tender and the curry was delicious.

Xihuahua 🐶 wanted to explore more genres of food so Nepal we go! Well it was still in Sydney but it felt very 🇳🇵. The decor felt warm and exotic but not cheesy. They feature veg, chicken and goat plus seafood.

That said. The momos are covered in an exotic spicy sauce and some veg. We asked for chicken but goat and veg are also optional.

The 🇳🇵 fish curry was good. They use a rather fishy kind of fish. And it isn’t very tender. The dish felt healthy though.

Chicken Tikka Masala was fairly average. Chicken is too tough. Sauce is nothing special.

Makai Kofta was divine! One bite and I was in the cloud district! Soooo good. The rich creamy spicy sauce was perfection!

Naan and roti are actually pretty similar, you get 3 slices. They are a must for dipping in other dishes’ sauce. You can do rice too.

Service is very good the friendly staff do have trouble communicate in understandable English I found but I don’t mind mystery dish haha. It is rather expensive dining given the tiny portion size, however if you are just into momos the place is actually pretty good value.

This was one the restaurants that was on the Ritual app so took the opportunity to order lunch from here and also pick up some lunches for some workmates too. There was a special offer on and they seemed to be well organised and on top of the special. Service is pleasant.

Picked up an order of Butter Chicken and Vegetable Curry and both were served with rice. I had the chicken and it was flavoursome enough and served me well for lunch. Portion is decent.

Great joint for Nepalese and Indian food.
The momos here are great. The outer covering is not very thick and the filling is good.
The quantity of the gravy dishes are decent. Slightly on the pricey side.
The butter chicken is sweeter than the authentic stuff. Altered to suit the local taste buds.
The mutter paneer was good. It had this amazing smokey flavour and the typical dhaba style flavour (food found long highway's)
The naan is great aswel.

The authentic (not so spicy) version of Indian and Nepali cuisine is served well by Mughlan. I have been here couple of times and enjoyed the taste and service equally. The beautiful red coloured themed interior, cozy environment and good number of seats makes it a place for those seeking quick and heavy meal. (Ambience :3.5/5)

The menue has good variety in both Nepalese and Indian cuisin, however it has little less flexibility in making choices as dishes are served as a whole and not as Separate items to mix your plate as is generally done in India. (Menue: 4/5)

They have fast service compaired to other restaurents and good guidance provided for customers not habituated with Menue terms (3/5)

Food taste lovely if you are trying to satisfy your south Asian taste buds. Food could me more spicy to be called authentic in true sense, but quantity is good (food quality :4/5) and prices are reasonable (value for money : 4/5)

Overall I recommend the place in case you are searching for Indian/ Nepalese restaurents

Always having a soft spot for Nepalese food due to having our first date at a Nepalese restaurant in Burwood, finding out that The Muglan was just down the road from us, we were there!

No surprise why we haven’t noticed it before, as the totality of the shop’s frontage was their front sliding door and peering from outside it did look a little dark and uninviting (as the front of shop is a narrow corridor painted in dark shades). But as soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed and ushered to one of the 3 tables for two in the corridor section, before the restaurant widened out where larger groups could be seated. The traditional music, paintings and tapestries made for an   authentic Nepalese vibe (I’m making assumptions here).

Although there was a lunch special menu, we opted for dishes from the ‘Traditional’, ‘Street food’, and ‘Something small to share’ sections of the main menu. Choosing the steamed goat momo with tomato chutney and soup; lamb shish kebab with naan; and deep fried bread with chickpea curry (Chole Bhature) I was pretty pleased about our selections and was expecting a meal straight from New Road (busiest high street in Kathmandu).

As we waited for the food, I assessed their table settings (2 stars for the napkin test, while the cutlery was some solid hardware) while my wife took in the bookshelf opposite us, supporting a collection of books about Nepal.

When our food arrived, it wasn’t what I had expected. I have to admit, I used my ‘western’ expectations and had extended it to the fried bread, somehow I pictured chunks of blistered bread perhaps what you’d use for a fondue, but instead what we received was regular old naan bread which had been deep fried till it was blistered. On the other hand, I had extended my ‘Middle-eastern’ experiences to the shish-kebab, picturing chunks of lamb on a skewer which I’d pull off with some naan.

In-fact the deep fried naan with chickpea curry was really nice, great flavours with the right amount of heat, and the blistered naan was crispy and flaky. But the shish-kebab was already off the skewer and it ended up being minced meat which was a little disappointing, and there was some pickled veg which went into your hand-made naan wrap, but this dish was still our least favourite, but still okay. While the goat momo was great! If you’ve never tried a momo before, picture a Chinese dumpling, but add in herbs and spices from Indian food, and you’ll end up with tasty mouthfuls of chewy (good kind of chewy) flavoursome meat. Dip it into the chutney for a spicier kick, and cool your mouth down with a spoonful of the soup. NICE!

All in all a solid meal, it wasn’t too expensive (compared to other city restaurants, although you weren’t getting too much for what you paid for); the service was polite and friendly; but most importantly it took me back to our first date all those years ago, nothing like a meal bringing back fond memories. Our overall rating…..3.5 stars.

Nepali food has many fans in India, but I was yet to taste the flavours of this Himalayan Kingdom.... until, The Muglan!

I came across this restaurant in Sydney CBD through Google maps, and you may actually miss the place, as it is surrounded by the name boards of other eateries.

My search was for an Indian restaurant, but I landed here! I call it destiny!
The place is warm and has An aura of the Nepali culture. The service is prompt and all smiles, but the biggest winner is the food and the portions!
In Sydney CBD, I’ve not found many Indian places that can cater to an individual or offer a Thali ( I could be wrong and would love to be corrected). Muglan has an amazing thali and you’ve a choice of meat, chicken or vegetable to chose from.
The portions are satisfying..... The rice and Dal are amazing and the tiny little radish pickle in mustard oil is a perfect complement to the well balanced diet. Club it with a Kingfisher Beer on Tap or a Nepalese Mustang/ Everest Beer on the side.... and you’ve landed in Nepal.

I only hope that the path to the restrooms was a little better otherwise....This place is a rockstar in terms of food.
I’m dying to go back and try the Nepalese Street food in the menu ( I finally found the word MoMos in Australia 😊😊😊😊)

Cheers

Just off George Street in the heart of the city Mr Piggy and I found this little restaurant called Muglan serving authentic Nepalese cuisine. We were excited to try it out as we haven't had much experience with Nepalese food in the past. One of Muglan's specialties is their momos. These humble dumplings are an essential part of the Nepalese culture. The use of various spices mixed in the filling is what gives these dumplings their unique character comparing to Chinese dumplings, Japanese gyoza and Korean mandu.

I LOVE Nepalese dumplings and therefore really wanted to come.
The decor and vibe is very nice, and the waitresses are helpful and friendly.
We got the dumplings, butter paneer and Chicken Saag, with naan and biryani.
The dumplings are pretty yummy, the broth is rich and tangy. The butter paneer really surprised me, it's a lot sweeter than normal butter sauce but it was great to dip the naan in, my favourite dish of the night.
The chicken saag and biryani is good. Pistachio ice cream is delicious.  Price is a little on the up side but we were definitely full at the end!

This is a very good restaurant if you are looking for tasty Indian - Nepalese food. The options in Indian food are limited. We ordered Chicken biryani and Veg Chowmein. Biryani was very tasty and had a smoky flavor to it. Quantity should have been a little more for the money we paid. Best part is the restaurant is open after 3pm when most of the other Indian restaurants around are closed. They don't provide the traditional Punjabi menu , Roti - Sabzi. Also the location is just a few mins walk from Museum train station

I had never tried Nepalese food before and one of my dear friends had been to Nepal and told me about the amazing food. There aren’t many Nepalese restaurants in Sydney, but this one is super traditional and a real gem. My friend is also vego so this was an awesome and difference experience. There was plenty to chose from on the menu. All the food was quality, service was a little inattentive and the restaurant was super busy.

Never say no to any good cuisine.
Just had a change to review this place after so many times came and eat on this place.
Nepalese Khaja set is my afternoon snack plate that consists of beaten ( and fry) rice, lamb curry, potatoes and some soya beans that has been soaked overnight, fried in mustard oil with some onion and chilies ( beware... very addictive )
Steam momo also good and Nepalese ice beer is very refreshing to give clean and crisp finished.

I agree i am biased to giving this place a 4.5. But spices are craft and muglan knows how to use them to delight a foodie. Perfect go-to place if you love spicy, steamed, fresh and food-gasmic cuisine. Have been to this place zillion times. Pocket friendly, perfect for treating friends, corporates, good balance of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Momos, Chicken Aachari, Biryani's are highly recommended. Muglan wont disappoint at all.

A Nepalese colleague took me here for lunch today. I wanted a taste of authentic Nepalese food and was not disappointed.
I am a fan, the meal was fantastic.
For starters the place was packed with groups of Nepalese, a good sign.
Started with Momo, went the chicken option. It's like a dumpling only denser. The real kicker was the dipping sauce, which I was told is a fresh tomato achar. The combination was so tasty.
For the main had the Thakali Kana set, I chose the goat curry. I was told this is traditionally how Nepalese eat their main meal - with a curry, dhal, greens, and sides such as achar and pickle. Everything in that dish was incredible.
We also had a dish which was like a deep fried Naan (can't recall the name) It came with a chickpea and spice dip. It was really good as well.
Service was quick and friendly.
I really like this place.

Right from the time you step in, the decor, ambiance, the hindi bhajans, just simply woos your soul away to the distant lands back home. The quality of service is Number 1. Before even you think what you need and its there for you, by the stewards and stewardess with a smile and warm hospitality. My fiance and I came here tonight for a quick, post-work dinner. It's these hole-in-the-wall places that make loving in Sydney such a treat.

I didn't manage to get the 'official' names of the dishes, so will have to use the anglicised versions.

For entree we had the pea and potato patties, which are pretty much what it says on the tin, 2 vegetable patties with a spicy chilli sauce. Just the right amount of kick. Yum.

For mains we had the chicken and cumin curry. Again, a mild to medium amount of heat so that you can definitely get the feel of it, but not too overpowering. Delicious with garlic naan and pilau rice. The rice had a nice amount of fragrant herbs like ginger and cinnamon.

Also a great list of cocktails (try the dark surprise) and the boy tried a Nepalese beer called Mustang which he was pleasantly surprised by.

Service was EXCELLENT - attentive without being intrusive. In fact, we were actually undercharged (we let them know before we paid).

We will definitely be back.

Choyla Head Explosion. I decided to mix my cuisine with Indian and Nepalese. For entree I went to India first with the Vegetable Samosas and then headed to Nepal for Momo Dumplings and Lamb Choyla. Make sure you love spicy food before you get yourself some Choyla - this stuff will blow your head off if you're not careful. For mains I went to India first for a Chicken Vindaloo followed by Nepal for a Goat and Prawn Curry. Overall great food, good service and highly recommend Matso's Mango Beer to cool your palette throughout dinner.
