An amazing experience from start to finish.
As you enter through the curtain and walk down the stairs through to the mysterious, dimly lit & moody room it sets the scene for a nice intimate experience.
You are met by the friendly host who introduces you to the staff that seat you at your table. You are then greeted by your friendly waitstaff.
Whilst we were perusing the menu a friendly waiter came around with their cart showcasing their special slow cooked prime rib to which we ordered alongside the ricotta gnocchi as it looked devine when I saw it from another table. We also ordered oysters to start & the pumpkin & green sides.
The prime rib steak is cooked more on the med-rare side and was slightly a little too rare for my liking, having said that I still enjoyed it.
The gnocchi was also good but had quite a lot of squash.
For dessert we shared the apple tart which was so crispy & tasty! It didn’t look very appealing but it was so good!
Service was very friendly, professional & attentive & our glasses were always topped up without having to ask.
This is a great place for an intimate dinner or even in a group to which they cater for.
Overall a great experience & would recommend to try this place out.
This was a great night out - it's great restaurant for steaks. It's not the best quality steaks, but still pretty good. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. It's not great value, but it's what you can expect from the Rock Pool Group - a little bit of manufactured rarity. There's a cart of meat they push around and try and sell you a cut off of that meat: don't feel pressured to buy this, think of it not as a recommendation, but more as a poor wait staffer forced to put on a spectacle; nod, smile and politely decline to move past that distraction. The sides were great and the atmosphere was not as noisy as I expected. The space is intimate and dark; the wait staff were knowledgable and friendly.
We planned to have nice dinner on Saturday evening at this haven of carnivore in Sydney and arrived a bit early than our booked time. The service from floor staff was efficient and good but nothing to be amazed of, considering the fine-dining price level of the place. The ambience was nice and relaxing with darker lighting, so a good setting for couple's date nights.
We ordered charcuterie of wagyu bresola, jamon serrano w/ manchego cheese and QLD king prawns grilled with butter as starter dishes and they're all good, especially the QLD prawns which we think the best dish of the evening. The main dishes were their signature slow-cooked prime rib and the toothfish and prawn cooked in nice butter sauce. Both dishes were good but the prime-rib was a bit too generous in portion of 300 grams especially considering it was a rich, fatty cut. I wish it could come in smaller cut of 200 grams. The toothfish was an excellent dish and in a perfect portion though. We also ordered wines by the glass and they have quite extensive options in their beverage menu.
Their prices are a bit on the expensive side even considering their good settings and good quality of food ingredients. In addition, customers also still have to pay stupid 1 to 1.5% credit card surcharge which is quite annoying in the fine-dining setting.
