Best ever chef ever!!! I will go by the name of Justin bieber!!!! Extremely funny and the food was cooked to the best standard and was extremely tasty and wonderful!!! Seasoning on point and a lot of funny games!
Definitely will return when back in Sydney!
Had a Birthday here on a Sunday night. The outside wasn’t too promising and half of George street being shut has really killed the mood in the city. We went in for a teppanyaki dinner and had an amazing time! The food was definitely very fresh (the prawns and chicken were divine) and delicious. We had a pre set banquet which was perfect. Would recommend for a night out for some laughs especially watching friends trying to catch the food with their mouth 😝😋
Great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff, food was to die for, so delicious!! I would highly recommend this place to eat, I had the best time and so many laughs.
I've never experienced Teppanyaki before. Recently, True Local hosted a food safari including a teppanyaki experience at Hisshou Teppanyaki. I was excited. Along with other reviewers of True Local, we are seated around a hot iron plate in Haymarket. There are all smiles round at the table next to me and I watch as their chef throws a raw egg at each of them to catch in a bowl. Laughter erupts and our table watches intently as we have an idea of what we're in for. There are a few options and our table goes for the Hibi Banquet ($49 per person).

Looking more like a nightclub than a restaurant, Hisshou Teppanyaki is one of Sydney's few teppanyaki hotspots. With red lights and numerous flat screens on the walls showing music videos, the stage is set for your rockstar teppanyaki chef to entertain you.The surprisingly long cocktail list will help you get into the spirit(s) of the place. The Honey Ginger Canadian ($17) is quite drinkable. This cocktail combines Canadian Club Whisky with ginger, bitters and honey, then lengthens it with soda water. We hit up the cheapest Hibi Banquet ($49/head) and are quickly introduced to our chef for the evening – Wayne. While we get stuck into individual portions of sesame salad and miso soup, Wayne starts us off on a rapid succession of dishes, beginning with king-prawn topped perch. (Disappointingly, here, the prawn legs and heads were thrown away.) After we’re soothed with some reasonable teriyaki chicken, eating becomes punctuated with games involving diners catching raw eggs and bowls of fried rice. As much of it...
This is an entertaining and interactive experience for dinner. It is located on George Street.
It seemed to be very popular for groups of families, friends, and work colleagues. Part show, part dinner, it was fun to interact with the chef. Get your catching skills on with eggs and rice flying at you at a rapid pace or else you'll have more than egg of your face!
Enjoyed the fried rice part as that entailed the aforementioned throwing of food as well as the flame grilled teppanyaki beef which brought scintillating flames to the grill.
Great for groups but no so much for couples as it was quite loud with everyone cheering and laughing at the catches (and misses) of the food. It is quite fun though.
best Teppanyaki restaurant I have ever been!
Experienced chef, made the fantastic cooking show, and the games are so funny, it really make me excited!
I'd love to go back again soon.
Love this place!!!! Best teppanyaki food. Always delicious!! They've got lovely drinks as well. And the dips for the meats are so yummy too!! I've been to other teppanyaki places and they don't compare !
Teppanyaki is not about food but all about the show. This is one of the best teppanyaki shows in town. The chef called my inlaws "mummy" "daddy" in his endearing accent. Of course the usual trick such as catching eggs were all part of it. It was entertaining if you didn't bother about the average food.
Delicious food. You don't often get a great show and good food at the same time, but at Hisshou Teppanyaki, you really get to have both!
My friends and I were there a couple of days ago for a birthday dinner. The staff were very attentive, the chef was skilled, funny and really really talented, the food was also fabulous.
Highly recommend for a group function or just a night out with friends. You won't be disappointed!
First up, seafood! We get a prawn each and a perch fillet. It was such a shame that we did not get the squashed prawn head that most teppanyaki offers. We watched the prawn head get brushed into the little hole on the hot plate and died internally at the missed opportunity.
Nice Teppanyaki. We went here as its close to home. It has everything you would expect from a Teppanyaki restaurant but nothing extra. Service was satisfactory and we would probably return at a later date.

First teppanyaki experience. Was expecting a chef to stand there and cook. Didn't realise how entertaining they were. I'd go back again if I'm ever in Sydney. ;-)
We had dinner there last night for a Hens night and had a fantastic time.
The food was excellent, but the service was even better!!
They kept us entertained and made suitable embarrassment of the Bride,
ensuring we all had a great time.
I will be recommending this restaurant to friends.
It was my ??th birthday, friends gave me a surprise there. It was a cold day , the hot place really keeping me warm. Initially thought just like another birthday dinner, but the chef named toyota kepts picking on me :-t get me wrong btw. I loved the birthday song they played for me when they served me the cherry pancake, will order it again for sure. I told Toyota to watch out what he does to me as I would put out a public review, here you go, toyota. thank you for the night. Such a fun night. Will see you soon, as will definately bring my friends for birthday party there very sooooon.
Really awesome experience for a mid week dinner. They really make you feel like a guest and treat you with love. Each course was beautifully and perfectly prepared by Chef Jackie who made the experience for my nephew very special. The ingredients are fresh. The food tasty. The portion size is more good than filling. The theatre of cooking is just fun and pleasurable. Will be back again.
A fun place to celebrate birthdays. Almost everyone there was there for that purpose, myself included. The staff were helpful and friendly. The chefs were fun and professional. The seafood tasted fresh and the other cooked food were equally great-tasting. The family I came with decided then and there that they were going to bring their not-so-adventurous Aussie farmer father to the restaurant for his birthday, certain that he would enjoy the experience.
Excellent. Staff are really nice and very accommodating. Our chef Yuta was so good and he even put up with our two kids (very tough crowd I tell ya).
They surprised us and celebrated our special occasion. Thank you so much guys.
I absolutely love this place! Hands down BEST steak my group had ever tasted! Such a great atmosphere with a lot of laughs. Loved our chef Jackie, he was so sweet, funny, and super talented! And our waitress Ashley was so polite and accommodating, couldn't have asked for a better night. Can't wait to come back :D
Been to many Teppanyaki restaurants, I would highly recommend this place over others. If there’s an option for 10 star I would rate it. Had the opportunity to try Hissou for my recent surprise birthday dinner. Not only the food was perfectly cooked, the staff were all friendly, fast attentive service and super entertaining! Julia was our chef and request for her if you can :) she made the night for memorable. Well done, we will be back!
Went there for my birthday, it was beautiful! The food is delicious, great portions! I couldn't even finish my food, wish I did! They brought out ice cream for me and sang happy birthday, even though we didnt ask them too :) beautiful customer service, wish I could give more than 5 stars!
I will definitely be back with family and friends, already been recommending people ❤
Spot to be for any celebration. And obviously just for dine in too. We had so much fun. Food is tasty, people are super friendly (thx Jessica and Sho). Just be ready for some serious "food flying :)". It is of course just if you want to. Otherwise you can just watch other people to be buried in rice, eggs, etc. :oD
Best place for birthday. Ken, Jessica and everyone else were great. Food were delicious as well.Definitely will come back.❤️
