The first ever Napoli certified pizza restaurant in Sydney does not disappoint. Must be up there with the best pizza in the country. Well worth visiting if in the area. Da Mario is da best.
Da Mario’s pizzas are made the Neapolitan way, so a thicker base than the Roman style pizza and personally my favourite style of pizza. The bases are perfectly cooked and the toppings are traditional Italian toppings. The service is friendly and attentive. I am looking forward to going back! #damario #pizzeria
We were catching up with friends and our kids for an early dinner and I’m glad they suggested Da Mario as their pizzas were very good. We ordered the Margherita and the short pasta with tomato, basil and ricotta for the kids to share and they seem to really enjoy it all.
For the adults, we shared calamari, radicchio salad, two pizzas and a pasta on their special board with lamb ragu. Their pizzas are all very good but their lamb ragu pasta which was one of the pricier dishes was small and didn’t taste that great. The pasta itself was al dente and cooked well.
Service was friendly and they did get very busy and they have two seatings so we had to get going. We were too full to try their desserts but next time I would like to try their tiramisu.
This was one of the first places I went to eat at when I first moved to Sydney, I love pizza and was told that this place does authentic Italian style pizza, Wood fire ovened so it’s got a crispy crust and chewy base. I was wowed by how good the pizza was, as good as the ones found in Italy! I love how they have both red and white base pizzas and they do a couple of margherita options. The arancini is good as well, the pasta too but I would say the bolognaise is a bit on the salty side so I would more so recommend the pizzas. Belissimo! 🍕
We came earlier than our booked time slot (on a Friday night) and they couldn’t seat us because no tables were available...shows how busy and well-loved this restaurant is :) The food did not disappoint, the pizza and pasta were so delicious and the service was also excellent. Our waiter gave great recommendations and was very attentive. Best Italian restaurant in Rosebery!
Been here twice in 2 weeks and trust me the food is really good. Pasta is all made in house so you know you’re getting quality food. Pizza is amazing with the chewy dough and also the wood fire oven makes the taste absolutely divine with many places just using the gas oven.
Portion is average not much but enough for per person. Just order 1 each to share. The pasta mare is a must to order so do the spaghetti cacio de pepe. I have yet to try the white pizza but the rosse pizza have been satisfying along my visit.
Service is impeccable too. Lovely staff even tho they’re busy on Saturday night they’ll make sure you’re well served.
Don’t missed out on their dessert. The tiramisu is my absolute fav it isn’t over the top sweet and so creamy with the right amount of coffee. And the gelato is great. The hazelnut is also amazing. These are all my fav dessert in the menu.
Make sure you had a booking even on weekday as they might not have a seat for you. You’ll be surprise by how full house they can be even on weekday moreover weekends
Delicious reliable Italian restaurant! Made a good impression on me when I️ came for a work dinner last year, so I was glad that my visit last Friday still provided great food and service.
Ordered the:
- Spaghetti Mare - Moreton Bay bug pasta with beautiful seafood flavours in a sauce that you want to lick off the plate. Star dish!
- Gnocchi with lamb ragu - warming and melt in your mouth textures. Would order again.
- Arancini (entree) - strong blue cheese taste, which I️ liked but my partner didn’t. Could do with a dollop of a creamy sauce to dip arancini in.
- Hazelnut semifreddo - with strawberries. I️t was nice, but I️ like the tiramisu more.
Good portion sizes that satisfied my partner and I️.
Have previously had the pizzas here and the tiramisu - highly recommend and def share it!
Excellent service, great atmosphere and Italian food that will make you salivate. Ordered aracini balls, salamino pizza and gnocci with lamb (all to share). Would be tempted to order the exact same dishes next time I go because they were that great.
I am Italian and I love real traditional Pizza Napoletana. I had one of the best pizzas in town last Saturday when I went with my friends. The pizza was perfect – it folded right and I ate it with great pleasure. I read the past reviews and I saw (again – I read/hear this all the time about Pizza Napoletana) people complaining about the middle of the pizza being too soggy/flabby/moisty. I am not a pro pizza expert, but I am an experienced pizza eater ;-) and I know that's how the Pizza Napoletana should be (although I think soggy and flabby are not the right terms as they sound pejorative; maybe thin and soft?). Such comments make me sooo angry! This pizza was soft and thin in the middle, as I like it, and I cannot wait to have it again!
4.5 because the atmosphere was a bit too trendy for my liking (I felt more like in Milan, where I am from, than in Naples), but it's really just my taste.
Traditional Italian style food.
Enjoyed the woodfired pizza here.
Pasta, the tagliatelle, was good and sauce cooked well. Just really tasty food. Just yum.
Beautiful funky place. I liked it.
