Fresh south-eastern Asian flavours at this Potts Point local. Menu is fantastic - there are so many delicious options to choose that it can be tricky but the staff are super friendly and available to offer recommendations. Alcohol available including a great selection or organic and vegan wines. Outdoor seating is perfect for the warmer weather.
Inspired by the flavours of South East Asian classics, Bang Tang is serving up some fresh and healthy dishes with an emphasis on FLAVOUR. Their Big Bowls are where they excel: think bright and tangy salads, spicy meats, slippery noodles and fluffy rice coming together in generous serving bowls to share with a crowd or for one hungry human. All the dishes were delicious with my faves being the Duck It Up and the Juicy Pork Belly Bowl, this one is highly recommended folks, check them out!
Bang Tangâs name has some pizazz to it, and so does this restaurant. As we approach the restaurant on Victoria Street in Potts Point, we hear the vibe, with some funky tunes pumping from the speakers. The Asian inspired restaurant stands out in its location with the small bright pink neon sign which contrasts the drab brick apartment block that sits above. Bang Tang is quaint restaurant with more seating outdoors than in, but itâs all good since they have blankets and outdoor heaters and an awning just in case. It has very much a fun street eat feel.
Bang Tang is a hidden gem located on the quieter side of Potts Point. Tucked away on Victoria Street, you will find this Asian inspired eatery which taking you on a culinary journey through various parts of Asia (Japan, Thailand and Vietnam). . We began with a couple starters which included the cigar rolls, tuna bomb and vegan gyoza. The cigar roll is essentially a crispy spring roll but with an amazing twist. This spring roll will blow your mind with tom yum and coconut flavours exploding in your mouth. It was a truly spectacular way to start the dining experience. The tuna bomb is a tuna croquette served with spicy mayo. Lastly, we enjoyed the crispy vegan gyoza with cabbage, radish and carrot. We felt like we traveled to Thailand and Japan in the starters alone.
Something little to start âCigar rollsâ (crispy chicken spring roll), âTuna bombâ(Tuna croquettes, spicy mayo) and âVegan gyozaâ. The bigger bowls âPrawn passionâ(choice of
individual/sharing, entree/main), âClassic soba bowlâ(with a choice of crispy chicken), âHun-bastardâ(poached chicken). The drinks âYuzu lemonadeâ and âEgyptian Iced teaâ(Organic hibiscus, rose, rock sugar).

- The food is light, tasty and fresh!! It is healthy and taste great. The food has a nice fusion of flavours.
- The âPrawn Passionâ is an interesting combination that works right. The acidity of the passion fruit dressing works well with the freshness of the prawn.
- My favourite has got to be the âClassic soba bowlâ.
- The drinks are nice and refreshing. I wish there was more of the Yuzu flavour in the âYuzu lemonadeâ though.
Cute and cosy restaurant with relaxed vibe. The menu is made up of a collection of the best of south East Asian dishes with a mix of healthy and ânaughtierâ options. We loved the freshness of the food, use of fresh herbs and familiar dishes with interesting twist such as the cigar rolls (spring rolls with Tom yum flavoured filling).
Other favourites from our visit include the grilled turmeric chicken with satay sauce and juicy belly noodle soup (melt in your mouth 4 hour stewed pork belly with amazing rolled thick rice noodles and rich broth). We really enjoyed ourselves and recommend a visit.
Asian fusion at its best. Loved the variety of dishes on offer and how generous portion sizes were. I particularly liked the starters/entrees and desserts. Iâd recommend the tuna bomb, Tom yum soup, bang my passion and the dessert of the day - a chocolate fondant cake.

It is hard to choose a winner from my lunch at Bang Tang. The truth is I couldnât fault any of the dishes and the flavours were totally on point. The best part is all my dietary requirements are met from the menu and I donât feel restricted in choosing the dish I want. Bang Tang is a healthy treat without the compromise of flavour.
Bang Tang is one of the cutest restaurants in Potts Point. A minute walk from Kings Cross station, this place has amazing ambience and the perfect outdoor seating area. This restaurant has plenty of vegan options, my favourites were the Vegan Gyoza đ„ and Soba đ!
Food is 5 STARS for sure! Every dish is a burst of surprise, plus is like fine-dining at a fraction of cost! Duck up! and Juicy Belly are AMAZING and ADDICTIVE! I brought my colleagues here and we have been talking about their delicious food and service for 2 whole weeks. Egyptian ice tea is fancy too :)
Itâs no secret that Sydneysiders love food from Southeast Asia, and Bang Tang is a shining example of the cuisine done perfectly in a modern way. The menu isnât extensive but every dish is fresh, healthy and packed full of flavour. The must-try signature cigar rolls look like a typical spring roll on the outside, but when you bite into one, it is a flavour explosion and does not come with sauce as it simply doesnât need it. The cheeky peanut salad may seem like a simple chicken salad, but the turmeric chicken and satay dressing elevate it to a whole other level where even people adverse to salad would enjoy it. We ordered a couple of noodle dishes as well which were also highlights. The soba noodle salad was topped with crispy chicken which created a lovely balance with the fresh veggies, and the 4-hour stewed pork belly noodle soup is a wonderful Asian comfort food and provided a satisfying dose of umami. The beauty of Bang Tang is in its simplicity and traditional flavours. Though the menu is small, there is enough range to appeal to all sorts of appetites so itâs the perfect place to go to for a quick healthy lunch, or to satisfy those cravings for hearty Southeast Asian food.
For some great Asian fusion cuisine and healthy eats, Bang Tang in Kings Cross is the place to be! The food is inspired by Vietnamese, Chinese, Malaysian and Thai flavours, and the menu has a great selection of entreés, salad, noodles and rolls. We started with the chicken cigar rolls and tuna croquette, which were both a great snacking size and were lovely and crispy. Next up were the rice paper rolls, where we opted for the chicken with satay sauce. It was refreshing and had plenty of healthy fillings to complement the chicken, which we loved.
Bang Tang is a cosy Indo-Chinese eatery that focuses on fresh Asian flavours and all ingredients are house-made where possible. I love the satay sauce in the Cheeky Peanut salad the chunky chicken breast pieces coated in turmeric are moist and satisfying. The Coco-Wow! salad comes with mixed leaves, king prawns, balls of rockmelon, pepitas and dressed in a coconut-wasabi dressing. I think eating these salads practically makes me radiate sunshine as it tastes very good and makes me feel as equally healthy.
Lovin' this little #holeinthewall đ@bangtangsaladnroll is a great spot for some healthy cheap eats in Potts Point. Grab a cigar roll and a chicken salad đ„đđ»before hitting the bar next door for an evening of margaritas and more!đ@mybondisummer #mybondisummer

Bringing a delicious mix of Indochina food to Potts Point in Sydney, Bang Tang is serving up fresh Asian food with a twist.
Conveniently located less than a 5 minute walk from kings cross station, it is the perfect spot for a mid week lunch or dinner (closed Wednesday's)! The atmosphere takes me back to Asia where I discovered some amazing street eats - pull up a chair outside at Bang Tang and let the friendly staff recommend the fresh special of the day. After taking their recommendations you absolutely must order cigar rolls and/or the tuna croquettes. The cigar rolls are filled with crispy chicken and the flavor was unique and delicious - you may end up ordering several of these and at only $2.50 each, why not!
For mains we went for one of the signature noodle soups - a herbal chicken broth with thick soft rice noodle, shredded chicken and loads of fresh herbs. Adding the chilli sauce and a squeeze of lemon is a must. The soup was full of flavor and excellent value for money. There was also a Tom yum soup and a tempting pork belly option (stewed for 4 hours). Be sure to check the board for specials - we were lucky enough to have a salt and pepper prawn salad which was large enough to share and filled with noodles, pineapple, nuts, herbs, carrots, coconut and drizzled with passionfruit. This was a healthy and refreshing option and the passionfruit was a surprising twist. Bang Tang is not licensed, however, they have a selection of teas (both hot and cold) and soft drinks. We had a pot of the fresh lemongrass, ginger and mint tea which paired perfectly with the food.
The restaurant also does take away and delivers via menu log and deliveroo. But for me there was nothing better than sitting outside and having the dishes come out fresh while you take in the surrounds and enjoy fresh, healthy Asian cuisine with a twist!
Cosy neighbourhood tuck shop dishing up delicious home cooked food and hospitality in spades. Nat is a wonderful host and obviously takes great joy in looking after his diners.
Highly recommended is the Juicy Belly; four hour slow-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth pork belly with a full-bodied broth, crunchy sprouts, and the most silken flat rice noodles, topped off with fresh, fragrant coriander. The Egyptian iced tea is a vibrant and refreshing accompaniment, aromatic with hibiscus, Ceylon and rose petals.
It's a small menu that delivers big flavours, with sufficient options to please most palates.
Thank you to Zomato and the restaurant for the invitation.
Bang Tang is a cute, quiet place to enjoy a relaxed lunch or casual dinner away from the bustle of Kings Cross, and as all menu items are under $15, it won't break the bank either. There are Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese influences in the menu, which is quite short and consists of four salads, four noodles and a few snacks which include crispy spring rolls and tuna croquettes.
Bang Tang is a bang for buck, lane-lurker tucked away in Llankelly place, only footsteps away from the cross. Despite the distance, this laneway provides an instant reprieve, and Bang Tang gives suitable oasis to sit and people watch amidst the comfort of a bowl of your preference and a quieter noise level.Â
Whilst the size might put you off, the set up and staff are welcoming and obliging, leaving it quite cosy. The menu is short and sharp, saving time in making decisions. There are 3-4 options each of salads and soup noodle bowls. Their quirky naming convention leave dishes aptly titled. Rolling Magic ($7.90) couldn't be any closer to the truth, and are up there in rice paper roll stakes considering quality of ingredients and rolling method. Rice paper firm yet not dry. I would never say no to more prawn though.Â
The cigar rolls ($2.50 piece) are equally as good, if searching for a warmer snack option, with both style of roll serving with dipping sauces like hot chilli and a complex luscious satay. They have daily specials and also offer vego options  against their chalk board. Both the Tom Yum ($15) and Bang Broth ($15) soups were enjoyed, with Bang Broth accompanied by a tangy, spicy add in if this suits your tastes. Bowls are topped high, with fresh ingredients and spicy chilli (Tom Yum only) give and take a few fresh herbs. Comforting, rich and filling for the colder nights too often felt in the Potts Point / Cross vicinity. Rice Noodles are twirled into neat rolls to meet you in each soup for destruction and  consumption in methods however you please.Â
Some larger soup spoons would be welcomed, though I suppose this could leave you savouring. Speed is up there at Bang Tang as is service with a smile.
Sometimes you walk into the most unexpected little places and wonder how on earth theyâve managed to fly under the radar. With just a 4 seater and 2 seater table under some heaters outside and a small bench with space for 4 inside, itâs literally a hole in the wall. A cart displaying an array of fresh herbs divides the inside and outside and a small kitchen space you couldnât swing a cat in. But itâs cute and warm enough inside to take my jacket off on this cold winters day.
Whilst the three staff members are all Thai, the menu is a mish mash of pan asian salads and noodle bowls. Mirroring the size of the place, the menu is equally compact with 4 noodle dishes, 5 salads and 2 snacks. This is the likely reason many a passerby might dismiss this place. A small menu with no distinct direction wouldnât usually catch my eye either.
Amongst the interestingly named salads are the âCoco-Wowâ, a king prawn, rockmelon and pepita salad with coconut-wasabi dressing. The âHun-Bastardâ is made up of poached chicken breast, cashew nuts, ginger, seeded mustard.

Tucked away in one of Potts Point's hottest streets for food, Bang Tang is actually a really nice experience. A small hole-in-the-wall, this place produces great, surprisingly healthy food. I ordered the "bang broth" soup for $15, a reasonable price considering the portion and the quality of the soup. I was expecting my meal to be salty and filled with sodium and other nasties, but I was pleasantly surprised. It had a really healthy feel to it, chock full of bean sprouts and poached chicken with flat, uncut rice noodles in a herbal broth. Despite the homemade feel to it, the presentation was lovely and it felt really good to sit outside in the street and watch the world go by. Staff were helpful in recommending dishes according to our moods. Only drawback would be the price as there are other very competitive eateries nearby, but I reckon it was worth it considering the quality and size.
The fact that it looks like a simple asian shopfront cafe with tables in the laneway makes the outstanding food even more of a surprise. The best ever salads and wraps with asian dressings makes me go back most weeks.
It's a tiny place which is part of the charm along with big smiles and attentiveness of staff.
Simple, fresh, light and clean food.
Vietnamese iced coffee a must !!!
Would recommend !

Love the taste of fusion healthy food. This is perfect mix and match of Indo - China fusion. Delicious of Tom Yum Spring Rolls. Salad and rolls are fabulous...Great authentic Vietnamese Coffee. You wont get any healthy and tasty in the same time as Bang Tang. It is worth it. :) Highly recommended
Great fresh food. Slight Thai fusion on Vietnamese. Base broth is amazing on all pho based dishes. May be hungry after a soup based meal but the flavours are worth it.
Beautiful spot and amazing food. nats creation are commendable. @bangtangsaladnroll

Such a lovely cafe with friendly staff and great food.
The food was fresh, unique and full of flavour. The place very comfy and cute, even with blankets for the patrons to use!
Really enjoyed dinner here - fresh, really tasty food with friendly service and great casual vibes. Highly recommended đđŒ
Unique and cosy place. The silky tofu entree is super silky indeed. Loved every dish, just a bit disappointed by the Bang the Vegan soup (honestly it was very plain). But recommended overall.
Food was excellent! Their vegan gyoza is a must try and their noodle bowls are delicious. However, I would have liked to see more vegan options available.
We came here on Friday night and it was haven of delicious food and lovely service. Everything we had was flavorful, perfectly cooked and had a little something special about it. We ordered the soft shell crab, chicken broth and wagyu beef curry, all were excellent. The drinks were all also thoughtfully chosen, delicious lemongrass and ginger tea, yuzu soda and spicy ginger beer. I would highly recommend this restaurant to lovers of tasty Asian food.
Cozy little place. Has great food at reasonable prices. For starters we had the cigar roll and the tuna bomb, both were good. We then ordered the duck it up bowl, which was fresh and delicious. Iâd definitely recommend it.
