Handmade crab tagliolini with spanner crab and zucchini was a burst of flavours. The pasta was well cooked and the crab meat didn’t give the dish a strong sea food taste. The sun dried cherry tomatoes added were my favourite.

Swipe for the Pappardelle slow cooked lamb ragu with pecorino cheese which was equally delicious.

Both portions were satisfying and the overall service and seating space was good.

I came here with hubby for a dinner date unplanned on Saturday night. Never heard about this or read reviews, looked good, so just walked in.

We were promptly seated. The decor is simple yet gorgeous.

We had the Arancini balls - melt in the mouth deliciousness! N then the Fries - oh the fries, where do I even start! It was fried in pork fat or some heavenly oil and tasted divine with the aioli. My hubby was not a fan as he doesn't eat pork or beef. I'm not sure if I am right but if that's the case, it's a good idea to put it in the menu as all customers are not the same. But I loved the frieeesssss, I could eat them all day :)

If that was not enough to make my day, we had the Crab taglioni. It was perfect! Taste in every bite.

We were pleasantly surprised and we were super happy with such a beautiful meal.

Definitely coming back to taste the pizza and other items on the menu.

Only thing I was surprised is that they don't have a chicken pizza.

After visiting their Broadway location last week, I organised a catch up with my friends for lunch at their CQ venue. We got a nice table by the window and the staff were friendly and throughout, they made sure we were ok.

We decided to share everything and ordered their arancini, calamari, pappardelle, crab pasta, salad and amatriciana pizza. Everything was tasty but I wasn’t a fan of the pizza which the staff advised was one of their popular ones.

We were busy talking but decided to get some desserts to share. We chose their tiramisu and cheesecake to share and out of the two, the tiramisu was the better one as I could taste the gelatin in the cheesecake.

Overall we all enjoyed our food and we weren’t rushed out even though we lingered a bit to catch up.

Good food, good flavours. Had the crab pasta, the pasta was a bit over cooked and not enough crab, but the taste was good. The prosciutto and burata was nice. Service was good but the staff can be a bit inattentive

If you want to have some Italian feast in Sydney then there is no better place than this, Salt Meats and Cheese in Gateway Sydney. We visited this place a couple of weeks ago and had a great dinner with some of my colleagues, a great option for groups as they have a set menu that gives you a complete set of Italian goodies from Antipasti, Pizza and Pasta.

My wife and I had a lunch on beautiful sunny day at this fantastic resturant. We had risotto pasta mixed with scallops, chives, saffron risotto and butter. The taste was exactly as authentic italian pasta . The atmosphere inside the resturant and oustside was spectacular bcz we were able to see scenic views of opera house and humongous sydney harbor bridge. In the end , we had cocktails too which was overall an overwhelming time at the place and staffs were friendly too. Great place for food 🍜and drinks 🥂🍸, cheers.

Who can say no to cheesy pasta? Serving homemade pasta with amazing produces from Australia you can be sure to have a good meal. Nothing beats a wood fire pizza and delicious home made pasta, unless it's cheesy pasta served infront of you 🤤

The service is fantastic, so friendly and so many happy faces. The food came out fast and really enjoyed the pasta and pizza. Atmosphere was amazing. Overall a fantastic experience.

Food: was here during the vivid weekend and thought they’ve closed as Zomato listed them close on Sunday yet with great anticipation that they’re open for business. Ordered the pizza which is really ideal sharing for 2 and a lamb tagliatelle. Wiped everything off the plate with great satisfaction. The truffle pizza is so cheesy tho not much of the truffle taste but compensated with the cheese and generous mushroom. Pasta portion is quite small so I would advice just order the pizza

Service: pretty quick as they’re busy with 70-80% off occupancy.

Price: reasonable. 1 specialty pizza and pasta for less than $50.

Salt Meats Cheese has quite a growing empire - but then good Italian food is as popular as ever in Sydney so it's no surprise really. They have some good locations too, and this restaurant right in Circular Quay is a prime location, as evidenced by the crowd there. . We started with a couple of glasses of red, unsurprising again really, and some arancini - an Italian favourite of ours. These were described as saffron and fontina (a cows milk cheese from Italy), aioli and Parmesan. A serving of six golden treats arrived, looking, smelling and tasting great. Scraping them through the aioli and Parmesan was impossible to resist. We were off to a good start.

Dining during Vivid, we expected a wait yet we were pleasantly surprised. Five minutes for a walk-in table of three and before we knew it we had a glass in hand.

Its a casual and spacious restaurant. Despite the glass walls and airy vibe, it still manages to feel cosy and intimate. We found the staff helpful in working through our dietaries, and food was served prompt. I don't find the pizza here as soft as traditional Neapolitan pizza is, but the toppings Salt Meats Cheese offer can barely be faulted.

If you're feeling lavish, try the truffle pizza. Its heavy with cheese thanks to gorgonzola and fior di latte, and once you top it with the truffle oil, the mushrooms hardly feel healthy. Its heavy and intense, but moreish and you won't look back to a red sauce pizza here again.

The parmigiana pizza really needs no explanation, and makes for a delicious option for vegetarians. The eggplant is cooked well and it's not too heavy on tomato. The porchetta is modestly served and although meat-heavy, the pork has portions of crispy crackling aside beautifully tender meat, proving Salt Meats Cheese do more than fantastic pizza. The beef and pork meatballs are served in a rich, non-acidic red sauce, and are incredibly soft and tender. You might want to ask for more bread to make the most of it - although I wouldn't frown upon you to use the spoon to finish off what's left.

We ordered the Tagliolini Al Granchio (blue swimmer crab pasta) and Quattro Carni (4 meat pizza). Loved the pasta! The best blue swimmer crab pasta I’ve had so far. Really good flavour and loads of crab! Pizza was simple and fresh. Would definitely go back and try another dish!

First time visiting the Salt Meat Cheese restaurant franchise. I went on a Wednesday evening with two friends and we had the a la carte menu. 
For starters we had the garlic focaccia and arancini. The focaccia was warm and had a perfect level of garlic. The arancini were crunchy on the outside, creamy and flavoursome on the inside with plenty of cheese. They were also served with aioli which was delicious. Two great starters to the meal. For main, I had the genovese pizza which was so tasty. A great thin base and generous serving of prawns on top too. I struggled to finish it but probably would have without the entrees. Washed all this food down with an aperol spritz. 
The menu is reasonably priced for a mid week dinner and for good comfort food.

1. Blue swimmer crab pasta - tasty and full of flavours, the pasta had good texture
2. Buffalo pizza - average, could do with more buffalo cheese or switch to a creamier buffalo cheese

Good place for a team lunch. Prompt service. Nice friendly staff who speak Italian. Yummy food. Definitely worth coming back to. Try the fish of the day!

We were craving some pizza so we thought we would have a try of salt meats cheese in circular quay. We ordered the parmigiana pizza and the bruschetta to start off. We really enjoyed the bruschetta! The broad beans and caramelised onions were such a wonderful pairing, so different from classic tomato and fresh onion. The pizza was quite tasty too, and the crust wasn't too thick either. Service here is really friendly, and the food came to us pretty quickly too. Keen on going back to try out some other menu items. The ambiance here is nice and inviting, and the decor is really funky too.

Salt meats cheese opened recently at the Gateway in Circular Quay. It is home to the melted cheese wheel but unfortunately each restaurant does vary and the one at Circular Quay did not have this on their menu. Regardless the food was great, as was the company.

Ordered:
•To start: Potato croquettes - delicious
•Antipasti: Bruschetta -yum, loved the addition of the caramelised onions
•Pasta: Gnocchi - nice but my least favourite of the night
•Pizza: Prawn - can’t go wrong with a prawn pizza

This was very filling for 3 people. You can probably just opt for the starters or antipasti and not both if you think you won’t be able to finish all the food.

We came here and had a Dimmi special of 50% applicable to our order. The restaurant is in the new Gateway dining precinct, near Customs House in Circular Quay.

The service was great and the food was yummy! We had the Salumi to start off with, then we had the Scotch Fillet and Diavola Pizza as mains. All this was accompanied with sides including a Rocket and Pear salad, fries, a glass of rosé and a bottle of Peroni.

This is my second time here, and went for lunch today with a couple of colleagues - we had the polenta chips, fries, rustica pizza, angel hair with tuna and seafood spaghetti. Everything was wonderful, and our waiter was energetic and attentive. While I was a little worried at first as the serving size looked small, everyone was satisfied at the end. Special props to the fries - roasted with generous servings of garlic and rosemary, crispy on the outside and deliciously soft on the inside.

Third visit I had the spanner crab pasta and the four meat pizza. Absolutely divine.

We visited here for an early dinner.

It is a new face in this area, so we came here just to test it out. But it turned out to be a happy surprise.

Marinated olives had a subtle sweetness, we loved it. The Octopus dish was great, charred octopus was cooked right - very soft indeed.


We ordered pizza and pasta for mains. The pizza was the best one of our experience in Australia! The dough itself had flavour, the tomato sauce was tangy and kicked and the cherry tomato was sweet.

The pasta was fresh pasta. I prefer a bit more wet sauce but the flavour was awesome.

The Tiramisu was beautiful.

We would love to go here again soon!!

Delicious middle eastern food found in Gateway. The bar is big and a great place to gather with friends. I highly recommend the eggplant parmigiana and the chickpea dip.

Tried out this new restaurant last night with friends. We ordered a mixture of dishes including the hummus, eggplant, ocean trout, ravioli, prawn pizza and sirloin. Of all the dishes we enjoyed the eggplant and hummus (with charred cauliflower) the best accompanied with the freshly made bread for dipping. I could have eaten just the hummus and bread !

In the newly refurbished Gateway building in Circular Quay lies Popina, a collaboration between Salt Meats Cheese and Shuk. The meeting of Italian and Middle Eastern influences results in some exciting dishes. We started off with the Stracciatella with figs, smoked almonds and apricot vinaigrette. Stracciatella is a soft, creamy cheese that's at the centre of burrata and is a perfect match for the slices of the sweet, ripe figs. The almonds added a crunchy texture and it was all tied together by the zingy apricot vinaigrette. This dish definitely put a smile on my face.

This unique restaurant combining middle eastern and Italian dishes was very interesting and offered a wide variety of flavours for a wonderful meal. For starters the Argentinian beef empanadas (one each of course!) and the falafel balls are a must. We ordered the prosciutto pizza and gnocchi for main both of which was really good. Basically this restaurant does not disappoint in food or service. I will be back!!
