This Italian Restaurant is located in The Old Rum Store close to Spice Alley. Service was pleasant and attentive.

As a group of us were dining, we decided to share the starters, mains, pastas, and desserts. We were offered some complimentary amuse bouche of fried polenta which a wonderful way to start our meal. My highlights were the Arancina which were perfectly fried rice balls filled with a sumptuous pulled beef brisket. Both pastas hit the mark for us. The Tonnarelli which was the squid ink pasta served with spanner crab. Tasty and with a bit of spice from the pork nduja. I very much enjoyed the Pappardelle which was homemade and served with pulled wagyu beef Ragu. The pasta was great to the bite and ragu was melt in the mouth and flavoursome. The dessert of Sicilian Cheesecake was light and served on a tasty biscuit crumb base. We were served a complimentary petit four of mini cannolis which were delicious.

Overall a delightful meal with mostly hits and couple of not so hits.

I really enjoyed my time here. We were in a group so we ordered the set menu - 6 meal course.
I really enjoyed all the meals but the highlight was definitely the pasta and dessert. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The atmosphere was calm and lights were dimmed.
If you're looking for a fancy restaurant to celebrate an occasion or simply want to eat expensive food, I'd recommend this place!

Loved the entrees here! The scallops with cashew nut cream and the bresaola with awe milk cheese were delicious. Their chestnut mascarpone with truffle ice cream was a bit disappointing - a very small dollop of ice cream. Seating was relaxing and staff were friendly.

Enjoy the flavours of Sicily at this Italian restaurant found in an historic warehouse space on Chippendale’s Kensington Street. Homemade pastas, produce that’s fresher than a winter dip at Icebergs and plenty of seafood.

Nice decor and friendly service, food was consistently good in every course. Flavour may not be so stand out however all ingredients tasted fresh, given most courses consisted with seafood. Overall the experience as whole was lovely.

I came here to use the Citibank Dining Program. Lo and behold, the complementary Pinot Grigio is valued at $55, and it went really went with the pasta. The pasta is subtle and took some time before I enjoyed the dining experience. The in-house olive oil is delicious with the bread.

We really haven’t had much off the menu other than some starters and the pastas which I absolutely love. I feel like I am back in Italy. The pasta is cooked to perfection and they are teamed with the most divine sauces. The highlight for me were the seafood pastas. #italianfood #sicilianfood #seaurchin

Olio Italian for Olive Oil.

Place:
Located in beautifully restored The Old Rum Store, serving Sicilian Cuisine in heart of Kensington Street Precinct.

Service:
waitress who look after my table, Jana ( sorry if I spell your name wrong), she is full of knowledge of what she is selling.
It’s a top class service!
Came just pass 18.00pm, service was attentive, however when it’s peak hour around 7.30 pm, I feel like the are short of staffs, since I only saw 3 girls running the food to cater almost full house customer.

Food and Drink:

As a started:
Complimentary bread with nut mascarpone and compressed cucumber.

Garden lemonade ( house made ), taste so refreshing, garnished with mint and cucumber.
Olio Spirits also a very nice, although i like garden lemonade better.

As a starter I have:
Polipo:
spicy charred Fremantle octopus, lemon crushed potato salad, mint roasted capsicum and bottarga mayo.
Love how tender the octopus was, goes well together with potato and minted roasted capsicum.
I do like the bottarga mayo, but to my liking a little salty.

Burrata:
Fresh “vannella’ burrata cheese, beets confit, pickles& dried fruit and almond pesto.
This dish looks deceptively simple but deliver a very nice flavour.
Everything comes together and still the burrata is shining through as centre piece of the dish.

Next Course we have:

Tonnarelli
With homemade squid ink, QLD Spanner crab and spicy pork Nduja.
This egg pasta basically similar to spaghetti shape but in my observation just a little square shape.
Love the spiciness from the pork salami on the sauce that gives a profile background complimenting the squid ink and the spanner crab meat. It’s a tasty dish, for sure!

However,
The next dish, Ravioli, with scarlet prawns filling, black truffle and burrata sauce was a talking point.
Pasta perfectly cooked, the prawn and the black truffle was amazing combo and the sauce.... it was magical!
I’ll comeback just for the ravioli, I promise you guys!

Dessert:

Seasonal Fruit Granita, Brioche Gelato and poached nectarine looks amazing!
Brioche gelato is a unique flavour, unfortunately the nectarine were mushy, I think poached too long, and sourness from granita flavour just hit a your palette and give this sensational refreshing after taste.

Pistachio
Mouse tart, milk ice cream and mulberries ... Oh.. my new favorite dessert.
Flavour combination was perfect! Not too sweet, and the milk ice cream was surprisingly good and the tart base was just soft and crumbly.

Also petite four for tonight was chocolate cake, it was light yet yummy!

Amazing service! 😍❤️ staff is very attentive.

Must order: egg pasta tagliolini, arancini balls, florentine steak and whole steamed fish.

They also have amazing soft sourdough to start your meal with! Their tiramisu is delicious 😋

Food comes around 10-15 mins.

Tucked away in a quiet laneway, on top of a warehouse converted building, inside lies this modern Sicilian restaurant. Italian is one of my favourite cuisines so I was fairly excited to try Olio.

Ordering an aperitivo is a must when having Italian, I chose the grapefruit spritz which was a citrusy twist on the classic cocktail.

I was impressed with the bread basket which contained a selection of different breads including a Sardinian ‘music’ crispbread that I had tried in Sardinia. We also each got a small plate of mortadella mousse with pistachio which was simply devine. If the bread and accompaniments write anything to go off, I was in for a treat with the three courses ordered.

For starters, we shared a couple of dishes.
Charred Citrus Fremantle River Octopus, Lemon Crushed Potato Salad, Mint Roasted Capsicum and Olive Powder
Sicilian Eggplant Caponata with Ricotta Mousse. The presentation was beautiful, as was the taste. The mousse was light and fluffy, with gentle eggplant flavours.

My main was the Homemade Ravioli with King Prawns, Black Truffle and Burrata Sauce. Large, delicate egg pasta parcels filled with this well balanced prawn filling with an aromatic sauce, this was a gorgeous main course.

And to finish off the meal, we sampled a number of dessert dishes including:

Cannolo Siciliano - Crispy Wafer Filled with Ricotta Cream & Candied Citrus,
Blood Orange Sauce and Bronte Pistachio Gelato. Now, dining at a Sicilian restaurant, it is a necessity to order an cannolo, a classic Sicilian pastry. The crispy, pastry was filled with a delightfully creamy ricotta cream with citrus and pistachio flavours accompanying it. I could have eaten a whole one (or two) on my own!

Rice and honey - Semolina Parmesan Cheesecake, Crispy Milk, Honey Cream,
Saffron Lime Gel and Toasted Rice Gelato. Now this was an interesting, stand out dessert! A very interesting and unique blend of sweet and savoury flavours. The parmesan offers a slightly savoury, subtle flavour against the sweet and natural flavours of the milk and honey. This dish is like nothing that I've tasted before, I liked it!

Brioche granita - Seasonal Fruit Granita, Brioche Gelato and Poached Nectarines. At first I wasn't sure about the combination but this dish worked well. The granite is super refreshing and is lovely and fruity. The brioche is more in the background of this dish, the main focus are the fruit flavours.

The Classic Italian tiramisu - a good, classic dessert. This hit the spot, if you want a classic coffee based dessert, order the tiramisu, otherwise, I would recommend their other above desserts for something different.

Overall, a really pleasant dining experience that surpassed any expectations. Unique, inventive and classic Italian flavours. We dined using the Entertainment Book which provided a 25% discount which worked out to be excellent value for the quality of food that was served. I would happily recommend and come back again!

Reserved a table on Friday night for a group of ten.

Ordered (i) the 'prawn ceviche', which was perfectly marinated and delicious, (ii) the 'trout carpaccio', which was fresh and silken, with a lovely burst of flavour from the caperberries, (iii) nannygai (type of snapper), which was perfectly cooked with a nice textural fried scale exterior.

Good service. Try to avoid a table near the door in winter (left the door open). Smart-casual ambience. Prices on the higher end.

Overall, a good restaurant with interesting menu options. Would consider going back as a potential date night spot.

We’re big fans of the thriving foodie scene which has sprung up at the gentrified Kensington Street precinct next to Central Park and have been meaning to check out Olio for a while, as the Italian cuisine on offer there is something different from the predominantly Asian restaurants on that street. We booked ourselves in for a weekend lunch with friends and were impressed by the sleek, industrial chic decor on entry into the converted warehouse space.

We had a table outdoors on the terrace - really lovely atmosphere and breeze on the hot day we went, would recommend getting a table outdoors if you can. Ordered the arancini balls, octopus, squid ink pasta, truffle ravioli, cannoli and tiramisu. Would recommend the ravioli and tiramisu. The ravioli was really tasty with a really delicious sauce. Tiramisu was quite light and yum!

We came here to celebrate a family members birthday over lunch. I decided to try this restaurant after seeing Dimmi 50% off sale and it this discount didn’t affect the level of service or food.

Staff were professional and polite and the food we ordered were very good except for desserts although they were visually great. We started with bread and arancini then I tried tonnarelli which was squid ink spaghetti with spanner crab which was very tasty. My husband had lamb neck with pumpkin purée which was tender and was a favourite among the table.

For dessert we tried their Millefoglie with lemon curd and burnt vanilla gelato and tiramisu. Their tiramisu was too much cream and hardly any biscuit base. If I had to pay full price, I would be very disappointed.

Overall, a nice venue for lunch and we all enjoyed our time here.

Great modern interior at Olio!
Ordered the oysters and yellowfin tuna as entrees and wagyu oyster blade and squid ink pasta as mains. The oysters were quite unique, served with a raspberry sauce.
After the entrees, we waited 40 minutes for the mains to arrive - and can confirm, they were not worth the wait. The wagyu tasted lovely but the portion was very small and left us still hungry.

At the end of the meal, the manager apologised for the delay of our mains and offered us complimentary drinks which was much appreciated.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. They also make great recommendations. The food was delicious - our favourite dishes were all starters (oysters, scallops and spicy broccoli) but everything is put together so carefully and thoughtfully. Amazing atmosphere, great location. Can't wait to try more things on the menu!

Italian food is defiantly a favourite and the menu at Olio is diverse and exciting. Service is appeasing and the waiters very welcoming and present well. The food was delicious. Special note about the prawn ravioli; it's defiantly a dish to order. The only small negative is that I expected a larger serving size for the main for the price point. Still had room for more when I left 😀. Would defiantly return.

The Kensington Street hub in Central Park is a continually evolving locale of trendy restaurants, cool hawker stalls and bustling activity. Immediately upon entering the precinct located adjacent to the Central Park complex and a short walk from Central Station, there is an energetic atmosphere. Renovated heritage terraces are home to bars and restaurants, the alfresco seating areas of Spice Alley sparkle with fairy lights and delicious smells from the hawker style eateries engulf the air. The whole area radiates cool vibes and great ambience.

Olio” means “oil” in Italian, and as we sat down in this impeccably decorated restaurant, we were treated to a bread basket accompanied by Olio’s own homemade olive oil. Situated on Kensington Street, Olio is a beautiful Sicilian fine dining restaurant that offers an array of creative and decadent dishes. Some of the highlights included the 22-hour sous vide wagyu served on truffled mash, and the risone pasta with octopus and bone marrow. It’s hard to describe just how perfectly balanced each dish was, with all the beautiful ingredients singing through with each bite. Each dish was presented beautifully: our entree consisted of wafers served on a cactus leaf to give you an idea of how unique and thoughtful the plating was. The staff were all very attentive and polite, and we were lucky enough to meet the head chef and it was very obvious just how passionate he was about his food. Olio is a must-try if you are looking for a dining experience that is something special, or if you are simply in the area.

Bianca: The newest addition to the burgeoning Kensington Street strip is the Italian centric restaurant, Olio. With the award-winning Singapore based chef, Lino Sauro at the helm. The Sicilian born chef has crafted a seafood focused menu, in a space designed by architecture firm LAVA. Think exposed brickwork, striking wooden floors and furniture. And the main design feature, a green olive coloured ceiling ‘feature wall’. Clearly an homage to Lino’s branded ‘Olio’ olive oil made in his native Sicily. I strongly recommend purchasing a bottle to take home with you!

Located in the heart of Kensington street this Italian place serves up Sourthern style food of Sicilian people.

Showcasing seafood, this place rocks out great tasting seafood dishes. However my favourite are the desserts .... Tasty and in house made desserts!
