Review B.b.q King - Sydney

Danny Lai
We had the banquet for 2 people about $50 each. Honestly not worth the price. The duck we had was not roasted very well, ie skin not crispy and meat was tough. The fried squid was just calamari rings which was not worth the price either. Most importantly the staff were not very friendly and clearly there is no emphasis on customer service. Overall average and definitely better options out there in the Sydney CBD/Chinatown area.

Heard about this place, so went to check it out. They really serve most meals family style. It was only two of us, so we didn't get the meal for 2, as it was too much food. We ordered the duck, bbq pork and calamari. I am not sure if you can get the duck crispy, wish we did. The bbq pork was really good. The calamari was ok. The temperature of the food could be hotter. I felt kind of rushed to order my food. The food was good and the place was very busy.

B.B.Q bonanza - 2 meats and no worries. We were enjoying a day in the park when we decided to head into the restaurant. The menu was presented clearly and the dishes were accurate to their description. The bbq pork in particular was salty and delicious. Great diorama display on the way out.

I love BBQ King... used to go there all the time but then it closed and moved - and it’s now a rare treat. I will say I liked the old place better: it had a sense of being only about the food... the new place does not have the same vibe. In saying this, the food is excellent and it an awesome late night dinner option! The crispy duck and pork are excellent!

Loves their new place. Very clean and spacious. The quality also increased a lot since they moved to this new place. Price is gone up, but quality stayed the same. Will visit more in the future.

Had quick lunch on Sunday 2.30pm. Ordered roast duck with bbq pork rice, around $17 with nice free soup (lotus pork rib soup) . The duck was awesome, just the bbq pork bit dry and normal ntg special. Price slightly higher compare others Asian food. Good service from staff.

Best crispy skin duck in Sydney I'd say. Rest of the menu is good as well. Also, make sure you try the peking duck pancakes. One things I have always found interesting is that staff always stand around and stare at you while you eat. Not sure if they are trying to be attentive and careful, or creepy...

So nice to be greeted by the maitre de of the restaurant as we entered. I loved the walkway of BBQ meats as you walk into the restaurant. We shared the BBQ crispy pork and mixed vegetables between two and it was more than enough food. The veggies came out piping hot and the jasmine tea steaming as we poured our cups. Very satisfied and will be back.

Still the best place to have peking duck, the flavour just the best in sydney although bit pricy compare to other places. I guess in this place the price is the quality. Service was bad but this is how most chinese restaurant run, they more into flavour rather than services and I will be back again for the yummy duck and roasted pork

This place is a bit rough and ready. Staff don't seem happy in their job. Went for peking duck pancakes but other than 2 chunks of duck and 2 pancakes as a starter they only have a 2 course option for $88! We were in and out in a half hour. Don't rate it... there is better out there.

Our first visit since the relocation & re-opening. The new place is awesome. The King now has his Palace!!!! We had the bbq duck & pork combo, salt & pepper prawns & calamar comboi, veggies & fried rice - all cooked to perfection

Found this place by accident decades ago best roast duck in Sydney, I was disappointed to find the old place closed, last night I was wandering through the city when I found it by accident again. Staff remembered me, had a great meal roast duck, roast pork and rice $15.

My fav place for BBQ meat and also best sweet and sour pork. Love the service there, when you sit down the yummy soup is served along with chinese tea. Service is excellent, especially the old uncle that always make sure you get the good hospitality there. Great job!

Great food, great service! Finished the meal with a full-term food baby.

The best Peking Duck I have eaten outside of Beijing! Amazing service and incredible food!

This is my favourite place love it. New place but just as good as it was at the original place.

After all these years, the roast duck is still the best. Actually, it is tastier than ever. It was tasty and fresh when I was there with my family last night. I love the picture on the wall. It will be good if owner could share the story behind it. I recognise some of the historical famous faces. It was so cleverly put together. It will be good to know the rest of them.
Patrick Kelly
Peking duck meat (6 servings) was big, thick and juicy. Big serving of fried rice. The BBQ pork was amazing, also big serving. Too much to eat and had to take away. In total $85, but should just only have had 4 servings. Will defenately go back again for sure.

We used to eat there when we where kids with our parents . The food was alway delicious, however it's not a quick cheap meal anymore and considering whatwe ordered I was kinda disappointed actually. Oh well ... i guess they had their time .

Every time we come to Sydney, this is where we eat dinner. Best Chinese food going. Great service to boot

My tea was very nice I definitely comeing back when I come back to Sydney

You can't beat the King. Crispy pork and dry noodles...amazeballs...I'll be back for the suckling pig next week.

Was introduced to Prawn and Rice Noodles in Egg Sauce on our last visit to Sydney and couldn't wait to get back. Service was good and the other meal ordered was too.
Jason Lambeth
A must do in Sydney. Awesome food and a real SYDNEY tradition. Too many great things on the menu
Sweet And Sour Fork
My favourite item to order at Chinese BBQ is the Roast Pork and Rice ($15), and this is about as good as they came. The meat and thin layer of fat were melt-in-the-mouth tender, whilst the crackling was so crunchy you could probably hear someone biting into it from the across the room.
Andrew Ricard
Always good, a staple around Sydney for foodies. Much prefer the new location. The beautiful juicy BBQ Duck and BBQ Pork are my recommended dishes.

First time going to bbq king and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I was impressed with the service for a chinese restaurant and it was clean and comfortable.
The Peking duck 2 ways was delicious and authentic, the XO pipis were tasty and generous and the crispy pork belly was the best I’ve had in sydney so far! It’s good value for medium to larger groups, and the alcohol is not overpriced. Will continue to visit whenever I feel like quality chinese bbq meats.
Jasmine
Nice bbq meat house! Absolutely good crispy crackling bbq pork and nice juicy tender duck meat!! The also also provide free soup with main meals.
Makan2Melbourne
Was quite a famous restaurant, but their quality degraded. The pork belly had super crispy skin, but it was super salty, it was intolerable. The others were just ok, not special, had better ones. Really disappointed.
CSKN
The place is overpriced. Ordered a Hokkien Fried Rice for $23.80. At that price, there was nothing special about it. A friend order a Combination Rice, and the dishes looked almost identical

Hungry Diner
This is one of my fav lunch places in the CBD, their bbq pork, crispy skin chicken, duck and salt and pepper squid is so salty and delicious. Great for a boozy lunch with the fellas.
Tanya
Bbq king? More like overpriced king! Don’t bother coming to this place. The prices are ridiculous and really not worth your penny. Food is pretty mediocre and prices are insanely overpriced. Almost chocked when I saw how expensive their dishes were for just Chinese food you could get at the food court. The only nice thing was the Peking duck which was super juicy. But in contrast the roasted duck fried rice was extremely dry and just plain sad. Overall, such a rip off of an experience. Don’t waste your penny here - better off going to market city food court and eating some better duck there.

Chinese delicacy at its best ❤️😍

Major love for their chasiu, roasted chicken & duck, and shredded beefs! Best eaten with white rice or their fried rice!!

Food comes around 15 minutes.

No fuss feed with great portions. I enjoyed their roast duck and some roast pork. They also provided a complementary basic bone broth which goes well with their meats. Their menu is perfect for sharing.
Dominic Svensson
BBQ King has a longstanding reputation for reliable bbq duck and peking duck and that's probably still deserved. They cook so much of it that we got our bbq duck and pork in 5 minutes and it was pretty tender but I think the suckling pig (for $20 more) might have been a better choice. With some plain but perfectly cooked veges and rice, we got a decent meal, but it wasn't much for over $30 each.
Paella World
This is the place, your search is over. There’s so much angst when looking for a place to eat Peking Duck. Will they sell me a dry one? Will they keep all the meat for something else? Will it be crispy skinned or just dry? Having tried and been disappointed several times I decided to try this SYDNEY institution at its new location and now unlikely to go anywhere else. Apart from the friendly welcome and staff who know what they are about, you can just tell that the owners are around and care about everything that is going on. Everyone is at attention and service is efficient and warm if you are friendly and respectful yourself. But what about the duck?? Plump, freshly cooked, lacquered crackly skin is served in pancakes with delightful spring onion flowers wrapped in a small chilli. Staff serve everyone quickly and then return soon after with our chosen second course- San Choy Bau. Warm, lightly spiced and unctuous with water chestnuts and other crispy veg. Truly superior to many mediocre versions in Sydney. The suckling pig was expertly cooked but a little bony, perhaps just our portion? Salt and pepper tofu is another dish that shows the mastery in handling ingredients. Light as air and silky inside, crunchy and spiced with salt and pepper outside. Go, just go, you will not be disappointed

Suckling ninja

Best place for suckling pig and maybe roast duck! The serving here are large portion and worth the price. One of the few best BBQ place in Sydney CBD.

Make sure you get the suckling pig and roast duck for dinner ... Oh and a bowl of rice.
Kriti
Went there for lunch with colleagues.
A bit over priced but they have some good options.Liked their peking duck and garlic prawns.
A bit less preferable if you have vegans/vegetarians in the group.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
If you're missing the old BBQ King that used to be on Goulburn Street, fear no more, because their new store is a stones throw away over on Liverpool Street. It's much bigger too which is even better news! Of course they have their great BBQ favourites as well. We started with Beijing Roast Duck pancakes. In fact we had quite a few of them - they are just so moreish!

After craving for cantonese food for so long, I got myself a decent dinner of crispy pork and roasted duck! All great for my liking.. but I reckon the crispy pork is a bit salty for some ppl (I do like salty lol).

Price wise, it is worth the portion served. Service was also good. Our steamed rice came a bit late but the waiters were very helpful.

Another typical Cantonese Bbq Meat restaurant. As usual, take away is normally half price of dine in. Had two big plates of assorted meat and roast duck here, too much for two people so that we end up paying 80 for two lol. Service not bad. Good location.

BBQ King Restaurant moved from its old location to a newer one in 2016 but with reputation intact. It’s been around since 1983, and it seems to be part of Sydney’s food history. Every few years, a newspaper article will talk about how Sydney top chefs will gather at or head off to BBQ King after their work shifts or on their nights off. Here, you know what you’ll be getting: Cantonese BBQ meats, with duck as a specialty, and a few other standards.
Culinary Artist
Succulents Meats, that’s why they call it “King”.
Juicy chicken, nice roast pork, and the duck... oh my goodness, reminds me back in Beijing!
Even though this shop is more Cantonese Cuisine, but I do still like it!
Other dishes also nice, like the ask and pepper calamari, noodles and the clam.
Sam L
Clean, attentive customer service, the food was quick to be served and tasted great. The roast pork and roast duck were really well done and not overly oily (which can be typical of Chinese restaurants).
FluffyHamster
The roast duck (with plum sauce) was absolutely delicious! I’m a big fan of hk style roast duck, so my friend recommended this place. He said this is the best roast duck in Sydney, and I believe him! We also ordered crispy pork, suckling pig and fermented bean curd stird fried with Chinese spinach. They were all very delicious, except that suckling pig was a bit too greasy (lots of fat)
Additionally, the staff were very friendly and bubbly.
The Miniature Life
We came along to BBQ King for a work lunch on a Friday afternoon. We ordered some sweet and sour pork, salt and pepper chicken, vegetables and cashew, and schezuan beef. The pork was nice and tender, but the sauce tasted just like a packet sauce from the supermarket. I loved the salt and pepper chicken which was crispy and tender, albeit a little too salt. The beef was quite tasty too, but I expected a whole lot more heat from this dish. I was pretty disappointed by the vegetables and cashew - I don't recommend ordering this one. Its good value for money to get a roast duck and pork rice plate, which were quite substantial. The service was very average, though the food did come out on time. They mixed up one of our orders and ended up blaming us - big no no. Not too sure if I would come back :(
Dave
Average restaurant. I can’t say it was $74 well spent, either the taste doesn’t match the price or just a pretty looking restaurant. Customer service is good.
William Wu
A restaurant serving Cantonese style of BBQ, crispy pork, and steamed chicken... all about meat.

They will serve the free soup once you get to your seat. The service is super fast.
If you are hungry, choose something like #BBQ Duck rice#, #Crispy pork rice#...., they will prepare it very quickly and you'll get it within 5 minutes. This is because they have already cooked meat, the only thing is to cut the whole duck up and served with rice.

Such restaurant is very common in Hong Kong, and is pretty like "fast food" restaurants.

#BBQ Pork# tastes a bit hard. It could be better if the pork is much more tender.
I prefer #Soya Sauce Chicken# . The oily chicken is great with rice.

You can also purchase the whole duck, chicken and take it home:)

Had a BBQ duck craving and this was the closest place to my office so I went in for lunch. I was prompted seated with a menu and complimentary tea and soup was brought out instantly. I ordered a duck noodle soup ($15) and waited no more than 5mins. Very happy with the service and the quantity of duck provided. Would be keen to go back and try the BBQ pork next time!
Stan Lee
Ordered a rice with BBQ pork, it cost me $16 just for a lunch, what a big rip-off
I checked the menu bar on the wall, could have bought half kilo of BBQ pork for $18.5 with this money.

The pork is okay-ish but not worth it at this cost.

Better check the price before ordering.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU EAT AT BBQ KING. DO NOT BE FOOLED.

Price for BBQ KING’s roast duck
Takeaway price Eat in price Difference

BBQ Duck (whole) $ 36.00 $ 60.80 $ 24.80

BBQ Duck (1/2) $ 18.50 $ 34.80 $ 16.30

BBQ Duck (quantiy not specified) N/A $ 32.80 N/A

See photos attached.

I think this is unfair for customers who come and eat at BBQ King for the following reasons.

1. Price difference between eat in and take away is too much

2. When I questioned the staff, one of them said the prices for takeaway and eat in are different. However, there is nowhere on the prices listed on the wall and on the menu that are clearly displayed whether it is for “takeaway only” or “eat in only”. How can a customer tell by looking at prices on the wall that they are for takeaway only or vice versa.

3. Roast duck price on the menu is displayed as follows:

Roast Duct with Soy Sauce………………………………………$32.80
½………………………………………$34.80
Whole………………………………$60.80

The quantity is not specified on the first line. Therefore, a customer cannot tell whether it is for 1/2 , whole or less.

4. I raised the issue with one of the staff. He did not respond in a polite manner and responded it was my fault for not asking them before ordering.

Walked past this place by chance the night before. Went in for their Roast Pork, glad I did as it was really crispy. The restaurant is nice and clean and had decent service. Will come back again, Recommended.

My previous visit to this place had been really unpleasant.

I went there for lunch with my colleague, we were initially told by the waitress to sit at a 2-seater right in the middle of other tables, which meant we couldn’t go in/out without asking other customers to stand up and give way. I was pregnant for 5 months and considering the place was not busy at the time with several tables available, we asked if we could be seated at a 4-seater near the pathway instead. The waitress told us the table was reserved strictly for 4 people and proposed we sat at another 2-seater beside. We complied.

Later two men came and were immediately asked to be seated at the 4-seater. Soon after another group of two men came and were yet again given a bigger table. I couldn’t help but thinking why the difference in treatment, so we asked the question to the waitress who served us. ‘You have to speak to the boss.’ she said.

So we did. The ‘boss’ started off by mentioning repeatedly people got assigned table depending on the circumstances. To which we asked why no one but us were offered the 2-seater we initially got. ‘Some people like the two besides you will order more food hence need a bigger table’ he replied, ‘In short, we assign seats how we like’. At that point I felt there was no point continuing with the conversation, nor with the food. I paid the bill and left, having mixed feelings.

I’m not sure to agree with the rational that a restaurant shall judge how much food a customer is likely to order as soon as he/she walks in, then decide the treatment. I also don’t know/don’t care to know what are the ‘circumstances’ they are talking about. I just want to share what I have experienced.

P.S. The two innocent people besides us did not end up ordering any more food than us, but this is not the point.

We were gutted to turn up in Goulburn St to find them gone but quickly found they had re located around the corner to Liverpool St. They pioneered Cantonese style BBQ Pork, Roast Duck and Soya Chicken In Chinatown when Duckie (Duck Soo) ran the place. The food was as good as I remember.
Darren Ferris
Food was nice, service somewhat better than it used to be. Atmosphere fine. We ordered the two course duck option as an entree and meal for $88 for the two courses. Two things I found unusual with this; usually there are 12 pieces of duck for entree (confirmed by the restaurant), but there were 5 of us so they only brought out 10 pieces. Secondly, we were charged an extra $7 at the end for an extra lettuce leaf. When we questioned, we were told that because we ordered San Chow Bow for the second dish, it only comes with 4 leaves and so we needed an extra one!! I found all this a bit mean considering we spent almost $200 and used to frequent their old location for the past 20 years. Usually I would not pay the extra $7 in this situation (as I believe it should either be listed on the menu or told at the time of ordering), however I just couldn't be arsed! Unnecessary meanness on their part which I feel doesn't make one feel loyalty to them any longer.

Never got the chance to eat at the old venue but this place is nice, new & clean. There are 3 seating areas to this restaurant with the bbq items hanging at the front of the restaurant.

As we were a big group we decided to book ahead, good idea as when we arrived most tables were already full, for a Sun night.

We were seated at the top level which overlooks the main dining area. We also had an attentive waitress dedicated to our level which is a good idea just in case we needed anything (cutlery, drinks, extra bowls etc etc).

Couldn't fault any of the dishes ordered. We ordered the peking duck 2 course, with pancakes first then rice for the 2nd course. This came out after a big bowl of broth was served to our table followed by the rest of the dishes ordered. Everything came out at a good pace.

Good place if you are craving chinese & great for large numbers.
When you're starving in CBD on a night out this is one of those place to satisfy your cravings. They make really amazing Peking Duck and their Lettuce Wraps are great as well. If you're craving something more substantial just order their BBQ duck. They serve two flavours (sweet and savoury) and you can get the mixed plate. Just to make sure come here with some friends so you can order different things. The price is on higher side but it is really worth the food.

BBQ King is such a food institution in Sydney. Always a great place for a late night feed. Located on Liverpool Street near Chinatown.

After meeting some friends for drinks, it was getting late and needed something that was quick and simple to eat. Walked past here and harking back to my childhood where a plate of rice with bbq meats were a staple, I decided I wanted to have some tonight.

I was greeted at the front door quite quickly and seated immediately. A complimentary pot of tea and bowl of soup were presented to me. I decided to get the Spring Roll and B.B.Q. Pork, Roast Duck And Rice. The spring rolls had a vegetarian filling and served with a plum sauce. The pork was delicious with a nice red glaze, the duck was nice but slightly boney and rice was seasoned with soy sauce which was nice. It was also served with some greens.

Overall slightly more expensive than what you pay in the burbs but definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

Went there last week, the duck dish taste good for me. The dish comes with soup and I didn't aware, ordered coke for drink but can't get the refund for it! (Didn't opened the can) I didn't knew soup is included!

Good selection of fresh Chinese style BBQ meats. Their roast pork and roast duck are my favs. Love the new location cleaner and brighter. Worth a visit

Growing up, I didn’t have a lot of non-Chinese food. I lived on yum cha, noodles, stir fries and claypots with smells that made my Greek neighbours wrinkle their noses. I also had a lot of Chinese BBQ with sides of rice and bowls of “I wish you would seriously consider being a doctor” soup.

The competition for southern Chinese barbequed meat shops can be intense. Almost every self-respecting suburb with sizeable Asian populations in the metropolitan areas of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne these days boast of such a butcher and BBQ outlet. The meats - duck, pork or chicken - provide for an easy take away especially for busy families. It is not just in the marinades utilised, but also in the cut of the meats, the critical drying of the skins and the presentation, that distinguishes quality from the ordinary.

Our Sydney friend recommended this place as we were looking for a yummy roast duck! Almost everyone had either roast duck or roast pork on the table. We went for roast duck on dry noodle and pecking duck. Everything was nice (including the complimentary soup), but the pecking duck was unforgettable! Crispy, juicy duck with hoisin sauce. Yuuuuum! We'll definitely come back when we visit Sydney!
Jmanchatty
Alright chinese bbq place, not as great as I'd thought it would be esepcially the bbq pork (char siu). Not as much flavour as id like and a bit dry and hard imo

The soy chicken was good and not too salty which was nice. Not enough soy in the rice so that was a let down.

Overall average bbq place
The RnB Diary
For any food lovers, BBQ King requires no introduction. The old Goulburn street site was vacated and the newer, brighter, larger restaurant found its home on Liverpool street.

No trip to BBQ King was complete without having its signature BBQ dishes. We were going to order BBQ duck and pork platter but the staff recommended duck and pork ribs instead as they said there were already pork in the fried rice we were also ordering. In the hindsight we should have sticked to our decision because there were hardly any pork in the rice. We also ordered Chilli chicken stir fry as a third dish.

The double platter was $38.80. When it was served, I thought it was only half of it, but then realised that was it. The ribs were laid at the bottom of a small platter topped with 5-6 pieces of duck roughly a quarter of a duck. We had ordered take-away roast duck from nearby shop in Chinatown at $16 for half a duck. So I was quite taken back by the small serving here. The duck wasn't meaty either, in fact most of them were skin and bones. The ribs were way to salty for my liking, we drank so much water and tea to rinse off the taste. I wasn't sure why the rice was called "special fried rice"? There was absolutely nothing special about it, other than specially dry! I had to wash down every spoonful with a sip of water. They were dry and flavourless.

The simple dinner of 2 dishes, 1 fried rice and 1 small bottle of Tsingtao set us back at $83. We were full but our experience didn't match the legendary status of this local institution. I was pretty certain we could easily had better food at lower cost else where in Chinatown.

I remember the disappointment from my social circle when the old BBQ King shutdown. Was really glad to hear that they were up and running in a fancy new home on Liverpool street and still serving no frills, Asian bbq in a relaxed dining space.

We ordered a number of bbq dishes including suckling pig, roast duck, bbq pork and soy sauce chicken. Whilst all bbq dishes were good, the stand out was definitely the soy sauce chicken, with a deeply soy flavoured skin, smooth flesh and well seasoned condiment of ginger and shallot.

We also ordered a number of classic dishes and I was happy with all of them. The salt and pepper squid was crispy, the vegetables were fresh and my favorite dish apart from say sauce chicken was the ginger and shallot cod. The cod was not overcooked and still had that soft bite, vegetables were still crunchy and there was a nice hint of ginger to enhance the dish.

Some have said that the new bbq king pales in comparison to the old. I attribute that to fear of change. I think this new bbq king is equally good, set in a much more welcoming environment and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Great food, really quick service and very friendly. All in all would highly recommend for anyone in the local area although just a whisker behind golden century

Classic Chinese bbq food at relatively average prices. The new revamp has brought a touch of class to the place but you don't expect anything extravagant. That's what makes it so good, it's your typical and authentic dining experience that you want.

I have fond memories of the old school BBQ King when it was on Goulburn Street. Not so much for the dated decor and often perfunctory service but for their meaty Peking Duck pancakes. So it's good to see they're the first thing I see on the entree menu at the new location on Liverpool Street — and the fit out and decor is much cleaner and modern now. Peking Duck ($14, 2 pieces) still comes with a meaty chunk of duck meat. Never fear when it's served not made up as a waiter will combine all the ingredients together at the table complete with hoisin sauce and that signature stem of shallot wrapped with a fresh chilli.

Short Soup ($8) is a smallish bowl but still packed to the brim with nice wontons in a hot and tasty broth that's thankfully not watery and tasteless. Add some of that tasty side of soy sauce with chilli sauce and fresh chillies for extra flavour and chilli kick to make it complete. Service was abundant and keenly efficient but don't expect sincere pleasantries. You're there to sit, eat and pay your bill.

Marinate your taste buds with a classic Chinese bbq feed at the revamped restaurant where you can get all the juicy roast meat bound to make you drool. Saute with fresh bbq pork and roast duck complimented with boiled rice and a delicious serving of peking duck too.

Heard lots of hype about this place being great, however I wasn't very impressed. We got the Peking duck two course meal, roast chicken, bbq pork, and suckling pig. All of it was decent but not a substantial amount of food for such an expensive bill. The BBQ pork skin was glassy and the roast duck very very bony which was a little bit of a turn off. Peking duck was great but too much money for what it was. The suckling pig was great. Would probably not come back due to the cost, lots of better places in Sydney for a much better price.

I love the BBQ Duck which is famous for about 3 decades. I have heard that this restaurant relocated recently. The new restaurant has renovated pretty well, at least a lot better than the old one.
Thought that they will increase the price for new renovation, but surprisingly, they didn't and indeed lower charges than before!!
BBQ Duck lunch price @ $14 which is brilliant in City.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
“We found you,” rings out joyously across the dining room. Finding the relocated BBQ King is like running into a long, lost family member. Multiple tables are being particularly effusive with their nostalgia, accosting the slightly bemused owner, Philip Chau. We might not be family, but after countless late-night meals, it’s clear many of us feel great attachment to this thirty-six year old enterprise. With the clock edging towards midnight, I order a Stone and Wood Pacific Ale ($7) to stick it to the man – Premier Mike Baird - whose Lockout Laws continue to erode our once-vibrant city. Our Peking Duck ($14/2 pieces) arrives almost simultaneously, and I’m pleased to report, the fat, juicy slabs of duck still number among...

I was invited here for dinner with a small group of friends after a huge delay in catching up. As we came, we were taken down stairs and seated at a table. We were immediately served with tea and soup.
The service was really fast despite it being really busy! We ordered Peking duck with rice, sweet and sour pork, garlic chicken and crispy noodles with seafood. All the dishes were really nice and came to the table really fast. The sweet and sour pork was a huge winner, everyone on the table strongly agreed too!

BBQ King is back and improved. The set up is pretty organised. The take-away orders are serviced at the entrance and the dinning areas are upstairs. The staff were friendly and efficient despite the chaos. Upon sitting, a complimentary bowl of soup was brought to this table of three. Roast pork, BBQ pork on rice are decent value and above average. Read more on the blog...
Food For Thought
The roast duck here is the best I had in Australia so far. The two of us shared half a duck and century egg and pork congee. Service was super fast and the food reminds me of Asia. The cost of the meal was very reasonable and the servings were generous. Definitely one of the places I would return again for a meal.

Delicious and Yummy food. The roasted duck is the best in Sydney. I ordered the duck on every visit. Also, the "sanchoibou" is very good as well
