Can't believe I have just discovered Tramsheds, what a cool little hub. Was a great place for brunch and picking up some produce afterwards. Butcher and the Farmer is open and airy, served the biggest mugs of coffee and was one of the quieter places in the Sheds. Highlights: lovely ambience, good/solid cafe brunch options. Lowlights: service could be a little bit more attentive.

The Butcher and the Farmer is a restaurant with two locations in Meadowbank, Forest Lodge at the Tramshed, and coming soon to Green Square. Their philosophy is highly quality locally sourced produce and seasonal ingredients, prepared with love and care. The menu is designed to be shared, so friends and family can come and try a bit of everything.

I came here with my bestie Maya and we had the best brunch ever. We ordered the broccoli, pork belly and duck breast and all of them are superb! Strongly recommend the duck breast which suits my Chinese stomach as well.

This place is interesting cause it has a tram inside which has been converted to a dining area as well. However if you do not manage to get the tram seating, you should know that the outside seating space is much larger. So everyone could sit comfortably here. I had my lamb salad for my brunch. I like the sauce inside which perfectly neutralized the oily lamb and vegetables. The lamb was also amazing, with a soft taste and matched the feta cheese well.

While travelling in Sydney... we were delighted to be filled with some good old-fashioned meat and veg/salad/chips options. Be it the steak, chicken or seafood, the protein was handled with care and love. The place was spacious and large and great for groups and families. Service was prompt. Prices fair and servings generous. The kids meals were sensational too!

Came here on a Sunday night, and service was fast. Had an amazing chicken breast, while a fried had the salmon. Only downside was the entrees, which where small, as we where only served ONE piece of bread. Otherwise everything was great!

5/5 Decor and atmosphere
There is a train 🚂 in the restaurant!!!! This decoration is same as a dessert bar called CODE at Terminal 21, Bangkok. I love this kind of decor and atmosphere. It’s attractive and improve the overall experience.

4/5 food
Vege- Sprout
Really nice which yummy sauce, but the only drawback might be too oily.

Streak - fillet
Quite good ( much better than what my flatmate cooked)

Duck breast
I love smashed pumpkins 🎃 sauce! Goes well with duck breast~~~ 💓💓💓

4.5/5 Service
Really friendly service and lovely people! We brought our own birthday cake 🎂 and they helped us put in the plate and even light up the candle for us! Really lovely people~~~~

It takes me a good ten minutes of Internet searching to find the surnames of Will Stewart and Steve Flood. They’re our Executive Chefs for the evening at Butcher and the Farmer, though having come up through reality television, they are best known to My Kitchen Rules audiences as Will & Steve. Admittedly, I’m not the biggest fan of the cult of celebrity. You can keep your Justine Schofields and send me someone who has come up through being an apprentice, learning the trade by doing the hard yards in a commercial kitchen. Even MKR judge Colin Fassnidge, who attended the same dinner, raised a wry eye as he recounted: “They’re all a bit stressed: ‘We’ve run out of dessert!’ Well you stay back and make it tonight," he told them. Their Butternut Squash, Maple and Sea Salt Tart ($12) was actually quite impressive. While this dessert is likely to be polarising (it was even on my table of food media professionals) I personally rated the...

First time at Tramsheds and wanted to come since Will and Steve (MKR winners) are now there. My daughter loved climbing up and down the stairs to go inside the train carriage and the decor looked awesome. Food was amazing and service was just as great, Steve even came by the table and said hi to everyone. Never been a fan of brussel sprouts, but their dish changed my mind about it. Was definitely one of my favourites! We will be back again to try more from the menu.

It has taken three trips for us to finally write this blog for Butcher and the Farmer – the first was in 2016 when they newly opened, the second time in March of this year celebrating the DVD launch of Murder on the Orient Express, and most recently, for the launch of a new menu curated by My Kitchen Rules 2015 winners Will Stewart and Steve Flood.  Not only did we get the chance to sample the new menu but we had opportunity to speak to the MKR star and also saw Colin Fassnidge, the Head Chef at Four in Hand and part owner of 4Fourteen. Our third visit was indeed a food-packed and star struck night.

Butcher and The Farmer is a Modern Australian restaurant located at the Tramsheds in Glebe, run by the group behind popular restaurants such as The Meat & Wine Co and many others. The restaurant recently launched a new menu with the winners of 2015 My Kitchen Rules, Will and Steve at the helm. Will and Steve have designed a menu focused on seasonality and fresh produce, resulting in vibrant dishes designed for sharing that showcase a wide variety of ingredients.

The restaurant is undeniably pretty, with many sections signified by their decor differences (also the tram). The staff are quite friendly and make sure to keep our table water topped up. We ordered the eggplant, spit roast of the day (we were told it was lamb first but it was pork instead) and a side of mushrooms. It's great that all the food comes at once. The eggplant looks much like a lasagne and tastes like one- soft and a little creamy, with a bit of marinara sauce. The roast is nicely seasoned, and my critique would be to change the side to better suit the meat, because the jacket potato with sour cream doesn't quite suit the roasted pork. The mushrooms are nice and juicy, and a little on the oily side.
Overall, it's a nice casual dining spot to catch up with friends over lunch.

Edit: back again but for dinner this time, the favourites were the beef brisket (beware of the mustard!) and the duck leg. The pumpkin and rocket salad was great too.

Tram sheds in Glebe have been all the rage in the last few years and over the xmas and new year break - they've had a number of events on #cheerstothehosts. I stop by for Apertivo hour where there are special cocktail and snacks. There were mini burgers which were a collaboration between Butcher and Farmer with high quality wagyu meat and Dust with their soft buns. A mini burger costs $4.50 during Apertivo hour while the very popular cocktail Aperol Spitz was $10.

I have to say i love the ambience of the restaurant. It was so nice and we got a chance to sit down in the tram. We ordered scallop with butter sause, wagyu brisket, steak, and duck. The steak was overcooked but the staff managed to replace the steak quickly. The duck and the scallop were good but not special. But, the WAGYU BRISKET is to die for. I love it! It was super soft combined with mash potato and truffle sauce 👌🏻 The coffee was also great 👍🏻

Our waitress Maricar was excellent - really prompt, efficient and lovely - she even thought to bring a smaller fork for our young son (rather than the large fork he was given). The food was great and they were able to cater for the many allergies in our group - it's not always easy to find restaurants that cater for allergies well, so we really appreciated it. We loved the duck sausages.

A contemporary, large, modern space housing one of the historic tram carriages, The Butcher & Farmer was the perfect place for a casual weekday lunch for 20 people. It offers a $25 lunch special from a selected menu which includes a glass of house wine or soda which is fantastic value. The 8 hour braised then smoked brisket was sliced thickly and sandwiched in a brioche bun with slaw & is super tender and absolutely delicious. The accompanying fries were golden, crunchy & perfect. The charcuterie board was a winner also with a chunk of brie, pickles, sausisson sec & porchetta. The only minor complaint was for a bit more bread. Fish & chips was a generous portion & super golden & crunchy & steak was cooked as ordered. Friendly & attentive service made this a relaxing and pleasent lunch.

I have been to this place twice and I really love coming here. I did have to take the tram to get here which is not a bad thing as when you get off the tram, Tramsheds is a few meters away. My husband and I went to this place to try it out before we decide to invite our friends here for our birthday celebration. This place did not disappoint. Their meat offerings were top of the line and I like seeing where my meat came from. It was easy to book a table here, I just used the Zomato app. The staff were pleasant and were quick to serve the food. They also have a great range of drinks to choose from. They also have a tram where diners can sit, order and eat their meals. The only negative about this place was not enough fans and aircon in the restaurant leaving us really warm and dizzy during the summer season. Would have wanted the place to install more air conditioning systems to counter the heat.

I haven't been to the Tramsheds before so I was excited to check this place out for dinner.

Cool ambience with a tram inside the restaurant which the kids loved. As we were dining early, no one was sitting inside but you can reserve seats inside the tram.

We ordered a variety of dishes, with kids eating the salmon and chips which was mostly chips, steaks were ordered, lamb cutlets and the autumn salad. I tried grit roast of the day which was pork and it came with crackling and I chose rosemary jelly which was a nice accompaniment. Side of chips, broccoli and mixed salad was finished as well.

Too full to have dessert. But I'll definitely be back to try different restaurant in the Tramshed.

Great tastes and great service.

When we made the booking of 20 people we were advised if we decided to do the ala carte option that there could be delays with getting all the food out together. We normally expect this and understood it. but there were no delays at all. All food was brought out together and it all seemed to go so smoothly.

The wait staff were attentive and pleasant.

and the food...oh my the food. Everything seemed very very nice. The food is simple but perfectly cooked. Sizes are slightly a little small for me but we all ordered enough sides to fill our plates and walk away very happy.

The tramsheds has some amazing food option and it is very very much worth a visit but I will definately be back to sample Butcher and the Farmer again.

Generous meat portions with the spit roast of the day for $32 tender meat paired with chilli&rosemary jelly & blackcurrant jelly (yumm), very generous portion of Brussel sprouts side for only $8! Sausages were a bit dry and their steak tartare entree was large serving and well seasoned too. Speedy and courteous service. Overall enjoyable night!

One of the many restaurants that have opened up at Tramsheds in Harold Park is the Butcher and the Farmer. Located at the front of Tramsheds it has a very clean crisp feel with outdoor and indoor seating. Within the restaurant you walk past the butchery section and can see all the fresh meat so that you know what you are ordering. The staff are great and the service not too bad, so you wont have to wait too long.

There are a range of different cut meats to choose from and you can select a dressing and the way you want to have your meat cooked. We also go to try the daily special pie, which on the day, was a lamb shank and potato pie. The pastry was super buttery and the filling had slow cooked lamb shanks and sugar snaps. It was absolutely delicious! The service was great and the prices are not too bad but not cheap by any means either. The restaurant its self is very nicely presented and for a gimmick with the kids you even have the option of dining in one of the old trams.

So what became of this slice of Sydney history? Well, a trip to Tramsheds at Harold Park near Glebe will show you how the past and present have been connected and transformed into something that is timeless. The heritage-listed building itself is the former Rozelle Tramway Depot which was redeveloped last year and is now reborn as a food hotspot with eighteen different restaurants and food outlets filling the cavernous space.

We visit Tramsheds quite frequently and noticed this place, because it’s where the tram sits! Apparently you can sit within the tram to dine, but we haven’t been in there yet.

We dined here with friends and the service was great. It’s such a large space and it was impressive that waitstaff were on the ball and very helpful with the menu.

Our pick would be the Beef Short Rib – the meat so juicy and tender. FYI, this doesn’t come with sides, so be sure to order some!

I, like some other recent patrons, am also unsure as to why this restaurant has such poor reviews. We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was relatively busy, however the staff were very attentive and helpful. It was a shame, however, that there was no (or ineffective) air conditioning.

For an entree, we ordered the garlic and parmesan toast and the olives. The toast was on a dark bread, and the parmesan was freshly grated and melted on the bread while you were eating it.For the main course, I ordered the pie of the day (which was ham and leek with a bechamel-style sauce) and my boyfriend ordered the steak sandwich. The ham in my pie was fantastic and melted in your mouth, the filling overall was well seasoned and the pastry top was delicious. The steak in the sandwich was cooked rare and was succulent. The sandwich came with a side of fries which were crispy. Overall, the portion sizes were substantial and we left satisfied.

I would definitely go back, and would recommend it to friends and family.

I'm not sure why this place has been getting smashed among reviewers because I found the food and service to be good. However, the crowds were noticeably absent when I went to visit on a quiet Thursday night. I had the lamb spit, potatoes and slaw; the meat was soft and tender. Cocktail menu was excellent. I thought the meat could do with a free selection of sauces and I thought the price point could be lowered to make the experience more reasonable. Loved the large airy space and the vintage tram.

A great place for a relaxed breakfast or lunch and the smell of meat and charcoal lures you in. We started with the calamari which was perfectly cooked. Mains were burgers for most of us (delicious) and roast chicken for the silver fox which was sensational, especially the chilli sauce on the side. We were a bit early for the pig on a spit....next time

Tramsheds Harold Park is one of Sydney’s most exciting new dining precincts of 2016. It has a story to tell and character to boot. Almost six decades after the Rozelle Tram Depot ceased operating, Mirvac began the monumental task of bringing it back to life. But this time, it’s for the purpose of satisfying Sydney’s insatiable appetite, well, literally.

We went to butcher and the farmer because our little one saw the tram that we could dine in when we first visited Glebe Tramsheds. The menu is predominantly showcasing different (steak) cuts from different parts of the country. Steak Tartare with traditional garnishes – $18. It was quite a boring-looking steak tartare. It was pretty decent but definitely not the best out there.

Interesting read of mixed reviews here
I had nil issues with service,in fact I found it easy to wave down staff and friendly

The food,my free range pork cutlet was just ok. It looked slightly smaller than expected and it came with just baby tomato's
They didn't even have mint sauce which is expensive for $5

The ox tongue was surprisingly delicious! So soft and juicy,I was impressed

Cheese fritter! Nothing much to it, cheese dominates the taste of course, but the salad they came with it was nice

Prices are expensive for what you get,my fiancé says she undecided if she would come back,I would return

Interesting to see people sitting in a tram but I don't know if you have to pay or there's a criteria to sit in there but it's a nice gimmick

Great service and atmosphere. The food was great for breakfast. Their roast looked delicious so would definitely want to go back next time and try the roast for lunch or dinner. There was a tram, wouldn't mind sitting in there next time to eat my meal! Also, should consider having ice coffee on the menu other than that, great restaurant and would come back.

Stunning design, cozy atmosphere,  good food, excellent customer service, poor serving time , weak coffee

The interior design is very stylish and modern. We seated inside at a lower table along the restored tram. LOVE the way they recreated this space with skylights spilling natural light over our food.  During the hot summer days, you can relax in the outdoor area and enjoy the meals while getting sun kissed :)

What did we order?
Pan Fried Chicken Livers with pancetta, sage, and green onion (it was okay)
Smoked Cauliflower with hazelnuts ( I personally think Ester in Chippendale was better)
Free Range Pork Cutlet 350g with fennel dressing ( Crispy and sublime)

Ordered the big breakfast and asked if I could swap the sausages for some avocado or vegies. The waiter said no substitutions but I was welcome to add avocado for $5. With a huge slab of thick cut bacon, beef sausage and a good amount regular bacon (not listed on the menu), it was a lot of meat and with only a bit of tomato and mushroom that didn't help much to cut through the heaviness. I did love the chunky bacon but would have appreciated being able to swap something on the plate.

The berry smoothie was delicious as was the strawberry and lime soda, however both could have been a lot colder.

Come in early ( before 9am) to this cafe / restaurant and you'll find ample seating available. Decor is very cool & modern and impressively expansive in the converted tramsheds complex. The breakfast menu is full of timeless breaky favorites like poached eggs, big breakfast etc. The pricing for some items may be a little more then average but there's an emphasis on fresh free range produce.
I had the poached eggs salmon gravalax ($19) and a large soy latte ($4). The breakfast was beautifully made, although a good serving for me with one piece of bread, the average breakfast goer may have hoped for a little more bread with the meal. The coffee was ok too.
Update: Came back for a weekday lunch with family. We tried the beef rib, roast of the day, chicken pie, Italian sausages, beef burger and salmon & shared salad, cauliflower. It wasn't too busy & our food came out in a reasonable time. All mains were a hit! Would definitely come back with a group again!

New restaurant inside the Tramheds but thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here. The waiter suggested we try the lamb spit with a few sides. I thought the lamb was tender and juicy and the roasted potatoes were yummy also. The kale salad was a bit bland, needed  salt but overall I enjoyed the food. We had to wait a little while too for our food & the restaurant didn't seem too busy at the time.

Excellent friendly, relaxed waitstaff. Took a seat at the bar, just opted for entree and dessert. Broad wine varieties. Would have liked to try something from the Spit on the next visit. Busy busy so best to book in advance, grab a seat in the tram if you can. Chicken liver parfait was deliciously rich, and Pork rillette was generous, perfectly seasoned and had a texture almost of fairy floss. Try a blood orange freshly squeezed juice, or put the cocktail waiters to work and ask for a bloody mary. Apple Tart w Apple cream perfect size to finish.

Butcher and the Farmer commands prime position with a large frontage at the main entrance of the new Tramsheds development. It is a beautiful, large light-filled space with a restored tram (which you can also dine in) set along the length of one side of the restaurant.

It was the first day of opening and by mid-morning, the 300-seat restaurant was already quickly filling up with patrons. The service was friendly, although a little confused, and I'd expect that to improve once they hit their stride. We just had a latte and chai but I'll definitely return for a meal as the food on neighbouring tables looked amazing.

Came here randomly on Australia Day. It’s got a nice vibe, with the unique butcher shop being linked directly to the restaurant (you can actually buy meat there). We came for the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. The service was quite good with attentive and friendly staff. We got the calamari (had an interesting sauce which was quite tasty but the chilli in the calamari has quite a strong kick), the burger with the fries (the fries were cooked well and apparently the burger was also a very good burger), and lastly the brownie with caramel popcorn and ice cream (rich chocolate that melted in your mouth - I’m usually not the biggest fan of chocolate, but this brownie was very good; the combination of the ice cream, brownie and popcorn was an enjoyable elixir of tastes and textures!! Would recommend! The only thing is that they charge $5 per person as the public holiday surcharge. I found that quite strange as it is usually a % of the bill, but 🤷‍♀️

Beef was cooked to perfection; however, not too sure for a gram portion. I ordered 400g rib eyes and it looked like less than that. Side dishes were ok, nothing fancy. Recommended charred grilled brocolini, mixed grains salad. It's a good place for people loving beef. Less option for non-beef favour; Only grilled chicken, crispy pork belly, fish tacos and salmon in bag. Salmon in bag is not much favor, prefer to be cooked as crispy skin grilled salmon instead.

Nice food, salmon slightly over cooked and bisque could have more flavour. The steak, mushroom sauce ( with real mushroom pieces) and mash was amazing though.
