Can't believe I have just discovered Tramsheds, what a cool little hub. Was a great place for brunch and picking up some produce afterwards. Butcher and the Farmer is open and airy, served the biggest mugs of coffee and was one of the quieter places in the Sheds. Highlights: lovely ambience, good/solid cafe brunch options. Lowlights: service could be a little bit more attentive.
The Butcher and the Farmer is a restaurant with two locations in Meadowbank, Forest Lodge at the Tramshed, and coming soon to Green Square. Their philosophy is highly quality locally sourced produce and seasonal ingredients, prepared with love and care. The menu is designed to be shared, so friends and family can come and try a bit of everything.
I came here with my bestie Maya and we had the best brunch ever. We ordered the broccoli, pork belly and duck breast and all of them are superb! Strongly recommend the duck breast which suits my Chinese stomach as well.
This place is interesting cause it has a tram inside which has been converted to a dining area as well. However if you do not manage to get the tram seating, you should know that the outside seating space is much larger. So everyone could sit comfortably here. I had my lamb salad for my brunch. I like the sauce inside which perfectly neutralized the oily lamb and vegetables. The lamb was also amazing, with a soft taste and matched the feta cheese well.
While travelling in Sydney... we were delighted to be filled with some good old-fashioned meat and veg/salad/chips options. Be it the steak, chicken or seafood, the protein was handled with care and love. The place was spacious and large and great for groups and families. Service was prompt. Prices fair and servings generous. The kids meals were sensational too!
Came here on a Sunday night, and service was fast. Had an amazing chicken breast, while a fried had the salmon. Only downside was the entrees, which where small, as we where only served ONE piece of bread. Otherwise everything was great!
great place for having dinner with friend, the food here is beautiful and taste. I really like the chao here. also, a good place to take photos
5/5 Decor and atmosphere
There is a train 🚂 in the restaurant!!!! This decoration is same as a dessert bar called CODE at Terminal 21, Bangkok. I love this kind of decor and atmosphere. It’s attractive and improve the overall experience.
4/5 food
Vege- Sprout
Really nice which yummy sauce, but the only drawback might be too oily.
Streak - fillet
Quite good ( much better than what my flatmate cooked)
Duck breast
I love smashed pumpkins 🎃 sauce! Goes well with duck breast~~~ 💓💓💓
4.5/5 Service
Really friendly service and lovely people! We brought our own birthday cake 🎂 and they helped us put in the plate and even light up the candle for us! Really lovely people~~~~
***** 5stars recommendation!!!
I dined here last week and the food was delicious, the restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the waitstaff were really friendly and attentive.

It takes me a good ten minutes of Internet searching to find the surnames of Will Stewart and Steve Flood. They’re our Executive Chefs for the evening at Butcher and the Farmer, though having come up through reality television, they are best known to My Kitchen Rules audiences as Will & Steve. Admittedly, I’m not the biggest fan of the cult of celebrity. You can keep your Justine Schofields and send me someone who has come up through being an apprentice, learning the trade by doing the hard yards in a commercial kitchen. Even MKR judge Colin Fassnidge, who attended the same dinner, raised a wry eye as he recounted: “They’re all a bit stressed: ‘We’ve run out of dessert!’ Well you stay back and make it tonight," he told them. Their Butternut Squash, Maple and Sea Salt Tart ($12) was actually quite impressive. While this dessert is likely to be polarising (it was even on my table of food media professionals) I personally rated the...
Came here randomly on Australia Day. It’s got a nice vibe, with the unique butcher shop being linked directly to the restaurant (you can actually buy meat there). We came for the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. The service was quite good with attentive and friendly staff.
We got the calamari (had an interesting sauce which was quite tasty but the chilli in the calamari has quite a strong kick), the burger with the fries (the fries were cooked well and apparently the burger was also a very good burger), and lastly the brownie with caramel popcorn and ice cream (rich chocolate that melted in your mouth - I’m usually not the biggest fan of chocolate, but this brownie was very good; the combination of the ice cream, brownie and popcorn was an enjoyable elixir of tastes and textures!! Would recommend!
The only thing is that they charge $5 per person as the public holiday surcharge. I found that quite strange as it is usually a % of the bill, but 🤷♀️
Discovered this place via The Fork. Had dinner here and ordered steak. Meat was superbly cooked to medium rare as requested. A cool setting. I like the tram being seatable (although I didn't sit in there). Hope to come back again.
The food was amazing. Best steak I've had in a while and the sauces were also very good. Had great service from all the waiters and will definitely be going back another time.
Beef was cooked to perfection; however, not too sure for a gram portion. I ordered 400g rib eyes and it looked like less than that. Side dishes were ok, nothing fancy. Recommended charred grilled brocolini, mixed grains salad.
It's a good place for people loving beef. Less option for non-beef favour; Only grilled chicken, crispy pork belly, fish tacos and salmon in bag.
Salmon in bag is not much favor, prefer to be cooked as crispy skin grilled salmon instead.
The vibe here was great! Lovely music and great service!
The food was also super fresh and delicious.
Nice place for brunch. Not too crowded. Small but targeted breakfast menu. The pork belly and curried scrambled eggs was quite rich. Coffee was good.
Nice food, salmon slightly over cooked and bisque could have more flavour. The steak, mushroom sauce ( with real mushroom pieces) and mash was amazing though.
