Each time I dine at Il Posto I get the same thing... I just can't look past it... the Pollo Funghi. The mushroom, white wine & cream sauce is to die for, I want to bottle it up & keep it in my fridge at all times! It's so packed full of flavour, balanced perfectly. The chicken is always moist & the broccolini & potatoes are always cooked as they should be.
To be honest, I have not tried many other dishes on the menu from Il Posto, but some of my family's favourites are the San Giuseppe pizza & the spaghetti marinara. I would definitely give it a go if you are looking for a flavour-filled, wholesome Italian meal the whole family will enjoy.
Also, the ambiance of the restaurant is really lovely and a little romantic, perfect for large group get-togethers or a romantic dinner! :-)
One of the best things about this lovely little Italian restaurant is the gorgeous service they have. The food was good and the set up is nice as well. Nice and busy on a Thursday night so do recommend making reservations for a weekend meal.
Have wanted to come here ever since the owners changed and the place has been renovated. Food is fantastic (we ordered the Parma Pasta and their daily special prawn pasta), and the service was great. We went in pretty late (around 8.30-9) for dinner and we were able to get a seat straightaway, but it was surprisingly busy for such a late hour. I'll be sure to book if I intend to go at a more normal dinner time! Highly recommend!!
What a find! Il Posto was a delight. The restaurant opened for lunch especially for a family celebration for an 18th. I was dubious about the value of antipasto and all-you-can-eat pizza for $40pp expecting some salami and olives with breadsticks and cardboard pizzas with too few toppings and too much cheese. Instead the antipasto was incredibly fresh produce, nicely presented and generously served - I was amazed at how much we got and how much we all kept eating of it. And the pizzas - these are what pizzas should be - fresh, crisp, old-fashioned and made with love. I was equally charmed by the hospitality of this place - Luigi who served us was friendly and humorous and Joe, who made the pizzas, charmed the children and made us feel like family. Some Italian restaurants are Italian in name only, but Il Posto in Roma Street is home. My only regret is that I live so far away. As a food lover and somewhat cynic about value for money in restaurants, I heartily recommend Il Posto.

Really like the atmosphere. The restaurant only introduced their today special to the guest in person and I really enjoy that. They make food with love.
Their pizza is quite thick and chewy. Not really my type. So I left 4/5.
But I will definitely recommend my friends to try.

Wife and I came here to have our weekly date night. This restaurant is an absolute gem. The staff really put in the effort to make us feel welcome. Luigi made the rounds and introduced the specials with the enthusiasm of an adrenaline junkie describing their latest adventure. The food is delicious; the pizza is huge. We especially liked the wild boar pasta that was recommended to us (from the specials menu). 10/10 will return again.
This is one the best restaurants in the North Shore area, excelent Italian food, friendly staff and outstanding service. I definitely will come back again.
Why didn't I find this place earlier?
The staff are super friendly. Of note, we were presented verbally with the specials. Now normally this means you barely hear things, or the description is unclear. Not here - super clear, everyone could hear, and Italian descriptions were explained without asking, in case you needed clarification. Honestly, one of the best.
We had one of the specials, mussels and spaghetti. We also had a pizza. The bases are clearly made in house and have those bubbly crispy edges - just perfect.
Finally, we were convinced to have dessert. A sample selection was shown on a platter at out table. Just point :)
There's a good bottle shop next door.
I will definitely come here again, and bring friends.

Absolute gem hidden in North Epping. Food is amazing, we love that you pop next door to the bottle shop for byo wine and that they have suggested pairings on the menu. The owner is incredible, funny, welcoming and passionate. We love the place! Try the specials of the day……. We have never been disappointed

Great rustic Italian: full of flavour. Eat in to enjoy the atmosphere and wonderful hosts. Or order takeaway pizza: fresh toppings, excellent dough (they do a decent gluten free too) cooked hot and fast (so fast I can hardly drive there in time to pick it up!).
This family owned restaurant is truly a hidden gem in our neighbourhood. Literally one of the best Italian restaurant we have been to in Sydney. We usually get pizzas from here, but we wanted to give their mains a go and ordered their Chargrilled Lamb. Honestly, it was one of the most scrumptious and delicious lamb we have ever had. Don't forget to try their Tiramisu with their home made limoncello on the side, it was such a delight. Staff is very friendly and they look after you like a family member.
