A very good café. Their version of eggs Benedict is really good. Coffee as would be expected is excellent. A few outdoor tables.
Great outing here with good food and service. I went for Italian pasta and salad which was hearty, yummy and well presented. Coffee was very good too.
Also they sell some stuff to take away in the fridge; we took some falafel away.
Great breakfast options and the coffee was delicious. Unfortunately the price tag was super high...which is a shame
Beautiful and buzzing cafe in a great location. The food we had was really good as well! We went for brunch and by the time we were done there was a bit of a line down the street so be prepared for that haha.
Nice ambience to the cafe. Yummy banana bread and berry muffin. The halloumi stack was nice but had more salad than anything else and the toast was over toasted and difficult to eat. Would come back to try some other foods though!
Place was packed and no table left when I came around 9 am.
Ordered from special menu, truffle menu and decided to have tiramisu French toast, scramble egg with truffle & truffle eggs Benedict.
Scramble egg was soft and delicate, portion are generous.
Truffle was subtle and not overpowering the whole dish.
French toast tiramisu was on another level.
Light and delicate, not as heavy as I would imagine.
Mascarpone was filled in the middle of thick toast,, served with truffle angel aisle, ice cream, and poached fruits, rhubarb and apricots.
I love this dish so much!
Coffee by single 0, picollo for me as usual.
Over all it was perfect breakfast on Saturday morning.
Strapadsada : 😁 Great
Corn Fritters : 😍 Amazing
Black Pudding : 😍 Amazing
Coffee in a Cone : 😊 Good
I’ve been dying to come here for years and now that time has come. Overall not a bad experience but I thought it would have been better. Delicious food and great service. Highly recommend the Black Pudding if it’s still on the menu or even the classic corn & zucchini fritters. Coffee in a cone looks stunning but taste wise .... it wasn’t what I expected. Coffee was hella strong. Which was good in its own way and obviously because the cone can’t hold as much milk as a cup would I thought they’d half the espresso shot to accommodate, but they didn’t. Also the fact that the cone itself was super stale and ‘rubbery’ did not send a good message about how they go about storing the cones they use. Despite that hiccup, everything else was very pleasant and I would definitely come back.
P.S. I had to draw my own little smiley face in the coffee otherwise it was just a sad white blob
really nice atmosphere, very cute and pretty, and a super cool and cosy vibe. the pancakes were super filling too and were delicious - but a tiny bit expensive but that’s okay! would recommend!
We were visiting Sydney from Melbourne, this was the first place we tried and it was fantastic. Great coffee and great food. I had the Strapatsada which was *almost* as good as Yiayia makes it at home. Will definitely stop by here again when we come back to Sydney as we'd love to try the rest of the menu.

I love coffee. I love waffle cones! Put them together? Shut up and take my money! Jeez, who would have thought you could drink coffee right out from an ice cream cone? No wonder it has become an Instagram sensation overnight! Such a genius idea!

Amazing flavor combos combining traditional dishes with some creative mixes, definitely a must at least once on the brunch to do list. Their coffee is pretty good also
Just had the green breakfast and the hotcakes, trying australian brunch for the first time, everything was super fresh and delicious. We loved it
Went to this cool cafe this morning for a quick breakfast. I went there around 9am when it was nice and quiet, but it’s getting really busy just a few minutes after.
I had delicious mushroom medley, a great recommendation from the lovely waiting staff. She gave a great service with warm and friendly attitude. It was somehow very refreshing!
Coffee cane with a chunk of muffin part which is nice. I had cappuccino, which was rather weak.
I have been here a couple times 2 years ago and surprisingly the cafe getting so much better. I will come back real soon!
Had a lovely breakfast here, it was very busy during Saturday morning. Food was fresh and tasty and service was fast. A very Instagram-worthy cafe so be prepared to pay some slightly inflated prices!

One of the more solid n consistent performer which i have had the pleasure of visiting multiple times. Below was what we ordered recently.
Chilli scrambled eggs 4/5, rocket coriander lime provides freshness while goats curd n avo tame the heat fm the chilli. Pesto paste provides flavour to bread.
Potato rosti 3.5/5 w avo egg pickled cabbage n veg w bacon or house smoked salmon.
Eggs benny, cant comment.
Ragu 3.75/5, pasta shaped as long grain risotto, flavourful sauce, well marinated meat.
I hope they keep up the good work.
Had brunch here with my daughter today . Fabulous food, coffee and atmosphere. So hard to choose as everything looked scrumptious so we decided to share 2 dishes ! Will def be back sooooon
Had a lovely lunch here with my girlfriend. The staff were nice and accomadating which is impressive for a busy cafe! We had the mushrooms and the halloumi which both tasted good. The only downfall would be the toast which was abit too crispy (but that's a personal preference)
The service and the atmosphere is good. The diner is well decorated.
They can be classified as Instagram-oriented cafe, but if I am being critical, the poached eggs is a little bit disappointing.
I am expecting the running yolk and tender egg white, but the egg seems to be poached too long, which means although the yolk is running by the white egg is quite old and chewy.
Matcha 🍵, cannot complain, all good.
Flat white, is normal.
Nice little spot in Surry Hill. I had a cappuccino and a mixed berry muffin! It was huge but really delicious! Fruit is fresh!! I also asked for WiFi password and the very polite girl immediately gave it to me. Finally I had an espresso macchiato and it was also good!
Food is quite good here - god the green bowl and serving size was very generous. However, service was very poor. No waiter/waitress was seen in sight when I wanted to order even though I had my hand up for quite a while. I had to walk up to the group of waitresses, who were grouped together just chatting being the counter, telling them that I would like to order... that definitely put a dent in my experience at this cafe.
the staff there is really nice.
The coffee is really good and is very creative that put coffee into a corn. That was really impressed me.
But, the food there I must say it was okay but not that good.
Awesome cafe great atmosphere great service l. Pretty good spot to hang out with friends on the weekend. Definitely come back for more. Try the C and A breakfast
Nice and cozy environment...
coffee with cone, that’s cute (;
Sufficient food portion, great for sharing. Fresh curb and veggies.

Good place for brunch
Great place for a brunch or lunch. The coffee in a cone is really interesting. The slow cooked lamb is good, but the tzatziki is too sour and does not match lamb perfectly. Over all, will come back again and try some thing else.
If you want good, wholesome food that is delicious, healthy, and satisfying, then head over to Cook & Archies near Central station for a coffee break, a quick catch up with friends, or to feed your hungry, hungry soul...
Recommendations: All the food here is good, but the Shakshuka is the best, it is the perfect square meal to keep you going! They also do the Coffee cone here too...

Visited on Sunday for lunch and had a nice time. I had slow cooked lamb on pita and it was so yummy. My wife and our friend also enjoyed their food but I can't remember what they ate :-)
Had mocha and cleaners to drink and they were nice too.
The only suggestion is to please keep the main door shut when its chilly and windy out. We had to close it ourselves a few times as the staff were too busy.
Food: Ordered the truffle pasta and its great so do the crab linguine. It's abit on spicy side
Ambiance: very airy and spacious interior. Perfect place for brunch
Service: It have been a slow service on Saturday. Waited for the food for 1/2h and 2x of asking when the food will be served. Apart from that everything was quite fast and friendly
We order 2 food. 1 with truffle and food is good but truffle is not give too much, compare to other coffee shop. But if you didn't want to eat truffle their food is good.
It’s been a while since I posted my last review, but quality over quantity guys, it’s worth the wait. I recently ticked off another cafe that has been on my ‘food list’ for the longest time – Cook & Archies Cafe. This nicely furnished cafe is tucked away at the corner of Buckingham St and Rutland St, which is only a 5 minute walk from Central station. Convenience is always a huge bonus for a cafe, cos you know, what’s better than being able to get good food easily (when you just wish every cafe is next to your house, yes).
An almost bottomless breakfast bowl of veges, grains and salmon. Overall it's a solid dish definitely for the healthy and hungry! Was it the best breakfast bowl...nah but it won't disappoint.
The Fish Pot Pie, lovely flavours of onion, fennel and flat head married in a bechamel...freshly baked puff pastry always the bomb!
Now here's the criticism...the fish pot pie is part of the "let's celebrate truffle menu" but I know what I'm
tasting here is just truffle oil so there's no fresh truffle here so why is this part of a truffle menu at all???
We were here to chase the CoffeeInACone trend, overall pretty happy about this cafe. Service was warm and welcoming, good place for catch-up with friends. Seriously tasty truffle chips, but other mains we ordered weren't as good (tiny bit disappointed), coffee wasn't mixed well with milk in my latte, however eating the cone was fun.
Delicious strong coffee. Very nice decor and environment. Food was good and fresh. Service was slightly slow but they were quite busy. It wasn't a long wait for a table.
Simply the best french toast I have had the pleasure to eat. Portion size slightly on the small size though. Cafe has a great vibe. Highly recommended.
Went there for the 'coffee in a cone' and was definitely not dissapointed! The coffee is good and matches the chocolate coated cone so well😋 The all day breakfast and the lamb with pita is also delicious with a large portion🙈
Cook & Archie's is a really good little cafe tucked away in Surry Hills. Food is high quality and the coffee is good. I loved the cafe and would happily revisit anytime. A good go to place.
There was a bit of a queue when we arrived, but surprisingly it was only like a 5 min wait as the tables are sort of comunal. We ordered the fritters and haloumi staxk amd they were both really tasty. I think service was fast and friendly so I will be coming back .
Food was great, nice combination of flavours and good serving size. Chai latte was slightly too sweet for my taste and the matcha latte was disappointingly milky, I could hardly taste the matcha at all. I ordered a regular latte at the end and that was better. Place was very loud at the time I went (Sunday late morning).
I could not fault this place! Great service, delicious coffee and the food was one of the best I've had in Sydney. A great find close to Central station.
Tried the sesame crumbed salmon and the ricotta hotcake. The salmon was nicely cooked, crispy on the outside and tender in the inside, the hummus compliments the salmon really well, with the salad and brown rice too, overall, the dish was excellent. The ricotta hotcake was also cooked nicely.
I have always wanted to visit this cafe because of all the awesome 3D coffee art pictures on Instagram so I was a bit disappointed when I was told that the barista who did them was not working at the time of my visit :( No matter, I was still very pleased with the quality of the food so I shall simply just come back another time!!
I had the shakshouka (baked eggs) which was very very good. I really enjoyed the strong tomato taste and the combination with chorizo and eggs. I also tried the haloumi stack which was a very simple and clean dish.
Cook & Archie's is a busy cafe that offers a wide range of Modern Australian cafe food. We ordered the Breakfast Bowl ($20) and the Ricotta pancakes with berries ($17). The Breakfast Bowl was delicious and the cauliflower, kale, eggplant and cabbage components complemented each other very well. The Ricotta pancakes were also enjoyable however the portion size of the two pancakes were quite insignificant for $17. Both the atmosphere and service were friendly and we'll definitely be returning soon!
Cook & Archie’s first came on my radar when a cute 3D cat latte art photo caught my attention on Instagram; but it was not until I attended a tasting event that I was truly blown away by its sensational food, ultra-friendly service and relentless pursuit of perfection. Whether you have a sweet tooth, are a health food junkie, or just can’t get enough of poached eggs, sourdough and avocado, there is something for everyone on the menu. French Toast is decorated with pink fairy floss, fresh strawberries and blood orange and the vibrant colours are almost too pretty to break in. The toast itself is crispy on the outside while soft and spongy in the center. Mixing it with vanilla ice cream and maple syrup, you have a sweet heaven.
My Favourite Salad ever。 it is quite near central station. Staff there are really friendly and the food is fantanstic!! Super recommend to yoi guys.
Was there for an early morning brekky! Glad we got there in time to get a place... We sat outside as it was a perfect autumn morning, we were not forgotten just because we were sitting outside. The food was just amazing. We had the crispy French toast and the shasuka followed by a fresh juice called immunity booster. It was a feast both for the eyes and the taste buds, the bread crispy and warm followed by cool vanilla ice cream, my shasuka was perfectly done, eggs oozing goodness and some lovely grain bread to soak up the sauces. A must go for all food lovers.
Splendid food and atmosphere. Friendly service, good coffee and a varied menu make this place a very welcome dining venue. Moderately priced and reasonably easy to get a table, is recommend this to anyone looking for a top-notch brunch fix.
This place has great ambiance and serves good coffee. Food isn't bad either. Finding street parking sometimes can be a challenge but it is very close to central station. Recommended.
Recently read a review about Cook and Archie's naming it "a secret brunch spot in Sydney". As far as I know, this secret is OUT and when I asked the waitress about the crowds lining up for coffee and breakfast this morning...she replied "this is QUIET in comparison". Anyhow, love the fitout, the beautiful pendant lights, the very welcoming, friendly staff and most of all the food. Love the fact that a lot of customers dining are diving into big wholesome bowls of healthy offerings. Bring on the whole foods! If you are a haloumi fan then you'll really love Our Original Haloumi stack with poached eggs, avocado, slow roasted tomatoes, green peppers and basil salad, dukkah and sourdough! Divine. We also ordered the miso eggplant and cauliflower breakfast bowl (without the egg and cheese for vegan tastebuds). So colourful and delicious too! Grabbed a superfood salad to takeaway for a work colleague (w lemon chicken, quinoa, spinach, beans and a miso dressing). Lots of tempting treats too like the mixed berry muffins & Nutella Babka (see photo) which I am sure will appear in my dreams at some point. Mmm!
Excellent cafe that does traditional favourites really well. I had the C&A Breakfast which was a generous fry up of bacon, beans, sausage, mushroom and egg. Bit pricey but well worth it if you're hungry as I was. The rest of the menu sounds amazing and I will be back. Friendly and attentive staff without being annoyingly hipster.
In the past 20 years the latte has evolved from merely just plain espresso, milk and foam. Exemplified by the beautiful chia, match and tumeric lattes from Cook & Archies Cafe. Having had the tumeric latte, here is three things I've learnt from this hipster latte:
1. Definitely worth the instagram picture.
2. A tumeric latte most does tastes like flour mixed with milk.
3. Sugar does not help at all.
For more reviews follow @foodlantis.syd on instagram
_____________________________________________
Of course some would overlook the taste with the health benefits of tumeric but for that warm coffee to get through the day I think I'll stay with my chai latte. 4/5 ( mostly for the look)
French toast is the best! Coffee is a bit light. Pasta is also delicious. However, the room is too crowded and the waitress hit my friends several times w/o a sorry. Also, when my friend realised there was no apple in her plate (different from the menu), the waitress took it away and quickly returned w 2 pieces of apples, not professional enough.
The food was definitely great. Although my first urge was to order the French Toast, I was already on a sugar overload from the day before, so went for the savoury option of Corn, Zucchini & haloumi fritters with smoked salmon. When the dish first came out I wonder whether I had got the right thing, as I couldn't see any corn, zucchini nor haloumi. But then realised they were all well hidden in the batter of the fritters. The fritters were nice, well seasoned & not dried. The poached egg was perfectly oozy. The salad was refreshing. But the best thing on the plate was the tomato relish, a nice sweet taste and not heavy on the tang. The only down side of the day was around the service, or lack thereof were I turned up. The place was not full, there wasn't anyone or sign at the door. I tried to get the attention of a few stuff walking around, they all just ignored me. I had to walk all the way in & up to the counter & waited to ask someone there. Similar thing when I was leaving & waited for ages at the counter to get the bill. A bit disappointing given the great food.
I love the service here; very friendly and very appropriate. The food is equally as nice, with slightly fancy presentations ( I say fancy because the dishes and the layout is what makes it so) and very nice food. It makes this place a very nice diner.
I have been here twice now for brunch during the weekend.
The waiters are handsome friendly hipsters that make you feel like you are long lost friends as soon as you walk in.
The cafe has beautiful high ceilings with simple features throughout. Tables quite close together but not stuffy.
The food is fresh, creative at times and large in quantity. I enjoyed a kale and cauliflower bowl with kimchi which was memorable. They also have the classics available with a twist. My friend had the French toast which had a beautiful sorbet? Ice cream? Which was full of fruit flavours, with a creek brûlée type sauce.
I highly recommend coming here.
Nice setting, smiling staff and great food that leaves you feeling satisfied. I didn't realise a chicken salad could please me so much! The dish itself was quite pleasing with all the paired components. The coffee was spot on, despite it taking a little time as they get quite busy on the weekends which is understandable since there is only one barista. Been here a few times already and it's always a joy!
Nothing to say about this place but excellent things! Staff is friendly and professional, quick on making coffee on the go, great service to make you happy when they run out of some ingredients, key location off to Central Station although not on the Main Street, modern homewares and environment....just one of my faves in Sydney!
Definitely one of the best in Surry Hills close to the station. Their menu is nice and they are an institution. In the morning they are always super packed so it can be a bit loud inside but they are busy for a reason, the cofee is very good and their breakfast dishes are made with the best ingredients! The cost is average for the type of modern breakfast you can have there, not cheap but not even expensive, definitely at the top of my list for breakfast. :)
Cook & Archie's was an unexpected gem. The baked eggs were excellent, with plenty of flavour from the chorizo, goats cheese and red capsicum. The thick slice of sourdough was the perfect vehicle to mop up the remnants of the delicious sauce. The Bircher muesli was a beautiful bowl of oats soaked in yoghurt, seasonal fruits and a poached pear. Nutritious and not overly sweet. My friend liked the crispy French toast but felt that it couldn't beat Devon Cafe's Little Lost Bread, her favourite. Not much miso flavour in the miso orange curd on the French toast. The prawn linguine lacked seasoning and tasted like something you could whip up at home. Both the skim cap and soy chai I ordered were spot-on. Service was pretty haphazard though all our orders arrived at the same time at least. Took 4 attempts to order hot water - first attempt got us cold water, second was room temperature water from the same waitress, completely ignored the third time and hit the jackpot on the fourth. This cafe flies under the radar of the Surry Hills brunch scene but it's only a matter of time before word gets out and the hour long queues start. Till then, I'll keep enjoying the food, coffee and vibe.
Second visit: because of the menu tasting, I feel i should visit this place during the normal business hour without telling them and try their service and food. me and other 3 came in about 7:50am in a normal Friday morning and this place was FULL! YES FULL!
we have to wait outside for like 10 mins to get a seat for 4, which was surprise me so much because all the cafe around this was all pretty empty. The dishes on the tasting even wasn't ready yet but there are some interesting dishes going on at the moment. I really love my bacon and egg burger, which was really well made. also the smoked salmon cut was delicious too.
Although the cafe was really busy, the service was up the top. very attention to detail and even you don't ask them, they came and ask whether the food was ok or everything was ok.
Definitely a cafe in surryhill I recommended.
First visit: Thanks for its marketing project, I was invited to the new menu tasting for this place, where I always wanted to try this place’s famous 3D animal coffee
I actually always under this impression that this cafe was so far away from the train station. The reality is, it is literally 2 mins walk from the Central station. oh dear…The tasting menu is something that currently might not available on the menu but it might be appearing very soon. The tasting menu is looked as follows:
Crispy French toast- a beautiful and crispy coated french toast. so nicely present. not too sweet in my opinion
Bircher Muesli- not a big fan of this dish. too me the flavour is a little bit unbalanced and way too sweet to my taste
Chilli Scrambled eggs – love the chilling scrambled egg. such a creative way to do it. did I mention that this cafe actually use Iggy’s sourdough? yes that famous Iggy!
Eggs benny- love the pork belly. How can they serve pork belly with eggs benny LOL
Breakfast salad bowl- this is something that currently on the special menu. be honest I don’t like it so much because it is cold, too healthy and very filling. However, in the tasting group, it was one of the member’s favourite dish. So I guess it just depend on the person.
Lunch
Italian baked egg – i love this dish. I hope it can be a regular menu dish so I can come back and eat….
Pan-fried barramundi- Awesomely crispy
Spanakopita (Greek spinach and feta and leek pie with horiatiki salad) – not really my thing as it is a bit too breadish. however that salad is very nice. look like greek salad but with spice infused.
House-made potato gnocchi- my favourite dish from the whole tasting menu. the Truffle oil gave such a great aroma to the dish and the house made gnocchi is soon tasty .
To Share
Lamb Kafta- love the lamb kata and the pita bread underneath. the tabbouli give the freshness to the whole dish and i love the sauce.
Spiced cauliflower salad – Some part of it was quite spicy but I can taste the quality out of it.
if you want try those cute 3D print coffee, Julien the barista who can do it is usually work from Wednesday to Sunday. however this store can be very busy and they probably won’t be able to do the 3D things when it gets really busy.
If you haven't eaten here, you haven't lived. Simple as that really. The staff are friendly, the food is scrumptious, the menu is exhaustive and the fit-out is devine. The pancakes are so good, they should be illegal to have on the menu when one is prepping for their upcoming wedding nuptials. You won't be disappointed.
Do it!!
This place is an experience for lovers of food, beautiful decor and great coffee - you may even be lucky enough to have some amazing 3D coffee art. Cook & Archies have breakfast and lunch options and we were lucky enough to sample both and it's a struggle to pick the best plate.
From the breakfast menu we tried the Spanish Baked Eggs, Eggs Bennie, Chilli Scrambled Eggs, Bircher, the Breakfast Bowl, and their French toast. Where to start with these options. Firstly, for a health kick that has amazing flavour and a serving size that will impress we loved the breakfast bowl - avo, miso kale, pickled veg and delicious poached eggs. This dish was massive and would get anyone energized for their upcoming day. If you are looking for a more traditional breakfast grab yourself the Eggs Bennie - the bacon is THICK CUT and the benedict sauce is light and refreshing. The dish is garnished with the most succulent maple bacon crumb, I almost wanted this as a side on its own. Spanish Eggs - who doesn’t love the aroma of baked eggs, tomato, spices and sauce. The Chilli Scrambled Eggs and the Bircher were also delicious and presented just as elegantly. Take your pick or cycle through each over a few visits - we know we will be.
Now to the the lunch menu - again where to start. We tried the house made potato gnocchi in truffle oil and a mushroom Ragu, homemade spinach and feta Spanakopita with a Greek salad, pan fried barramundi, lamb kofta and spiced cauliflower salad. If you are in the mood for a flavour sensation that hits all the senses do not go past the gnocchi. This dish was light, fluffy, generous in size and the combo with the mushroom ragu and truffle oil made this a definite highlight. The lamb kofta was delicious and matched with a brilliant sauce. The serving sizes are such that you will not be hungry afterwards, but, also you will never feel heavy either!
The front of house staff will look after you and if you are stuck between menu options they will be able to steer you in the right direction. Their barista has the patience of a saint and can make some
pretty amazing 3D coffee art - check out the photos. The decor here is light and vibrant, just like the flavours of the food and the mood of the staff. Located in Surry Hills it is easy to get to and parking was not an issue at all.
Cook and Archies is a large cafe in Surry Hills towards central station, plenty of tables and options to eat in or take away. During the week there's plenty of salads and proteins to take away and also a range of juices and smoothies. For those who eat in, there's a wide menu and the breakfast is available all day on the weekend. Menu choices on the weekend include Zucchini and haloumi fritters, haloumi stacks, bacon buttyi (fried eggs, pimento salsa on a mill bun), Bircher, granola, ricotta hot cakes, potato Rosti, baked eggs, fetta and chilli scramble. Theres also lunch choices there if that suits you - chicken salad, roast lamb or spanakopita. I wanted the the special which was a beautifully fried ricotta cinnamon French toast topped with rhubarb, strawberries, miso orange curd maple (that you can pour yourself), marscapone and fairy floss! Unfortunately the busy nature of the day meant it sold out. The lovely waitress offered to do it on pancakes instead. Turned out they managed to do the French toast. Nice! It wasn't that crispy on the outside but tasted really nice and the flavours worked really well together.
Coffees include a beautiful turmeric spiced latte, or green tea lattes for the instagrammers out there. Tea is by the amazing tea tonic brand - I'm always a fan of that. I had been communicating with them all week as I wanted to come in when the 3D latte barista was on and they said it was today. Turned out the regular wasn't there - but the other guy did a pretty good job of it. Love my latte art. Thanks - great place guys.
Ordered the chicken burger and chips . It was alright. The service was good. The portions were huge. I guess its an aussie thing. The Chips were pretty good though
Been going to Vicki and Steve's cafe for 7 years now as they are few meters from our studio. The quality of the food is excellent and fresh...like a home cooked meal every time. In Sydney it is always hard to find a cafe that consistently delivers the goods for such a long period. So much care and love is put into the food and also coffee. Steve makes best short black in Surry Hills.. and debatably Sydney. For breakfast my goto is the folded scrambled eggs, sourdough the homemade chilli is a special order but to die for. Keep up the good work guys you are the best. photos to come.
Came here with a big group on a rainy Saturday morning. The weather may have let me down, but everything about Cook & Archies made me feel pretty razzed. The coffee was fresh, the corn fritters were epic, and the pancakes my girlfriend ordered made my knees buckle. The place got pretty busy and it was clear our time was up when we got the stink eye from another couple wanting our table....or our pancakes.
So we came here to try the famous 3D coffee. Unfortunately we had no idea that they only do it on weekends. But the staff were so kind and let us take a seat and agreed to make us 3D cat cappuccinos!
Although it was really busy and people kept coming in, we did wait a little while, but the wait was worth it! The coffee was delicious, the cat was adorable and the staff were so kind.
The price was not dear and we felt really
Welcomed in the cafe. All though we didn't try the food, it's next on the list! I love this cafe!
This cafe is one of the nicest Cafes I have been to. I had the French toast , which was beautifully presented. It was made like a sweet toastie , with ricotta in the middle, berries on top and ice cream on the side. There was an extra rhubarb and berry syrup to add for sweetness. The coffee was also amazing !!
Classy lunchtime diner tucked away in the back streets of Surry Hills. The food is good, creative and veers between healthy and not so. Plenty of brunchy type options and salad and sandwich takeaways. Sit down meals all cost about $20, give or take a few. They do a good southern fried chicken burger with whole jalapenos, fermented cabbage, slaw and pineapple on a sesame seed brioche bun and served with chips. The halloumi stack - grilled halloumi cheese on sourdough bread with rocket, tomato, avocado and a poached egg - looks great and fills you up. The Reuben sandwich is good, but my search for a truly great one goes on. My new favourite Surry Hills eatery, not least for the fiery-eyed woman behind the counter.
Had a lunch at this place yesterday with a colleague . on his recommendation (he is regular) we went for Salad option. Being a vegetarian , I was not expecting too many choices but I was in for a surprise . with many of veggie options , I chose combination of roasted Lima beans Salad with celery & organic quinoa & barley salad ( 1/2 portion each) and both were good. With the kind of patronage I have seen there (office goers, elederly ladies , young moms with babies) - this seems to be a popular place in the neighbourhood. I recon that I will be going here very often as I will be coming to our client office nearby regularly . One negative thing - it is bit pricy so you can't afford to eat here very often if you are keeping an eye on your eating budget .

One of my favourite places for lunch on the go and it always impresses me how quickly they get you in and out if you're in a hurry despite how packed they always are. Pictured are the corn fritters with the side of fries - and they do awesome fries!
My haloumi stack was nice, albeit messy to eat. The rocket and tomatoes didn't quite stay on the toast or my fork, sliding off with each mouthful. In the end, I was left with excess leaves when I would have preferred to have extra haloumi. Whilst the dish was good, I would perhaps recommend ordering a side to add more elements - say, bacon. It was pleasing to see that I received a complete half-avocado. There are some particularly stingy cafés that give you even less than half an avocado, perhaps only a quarter. Sure, I hate avocado but I can appreciate a decent serving size, which is at least half.
Final comments on Cook and Archie's: I ordered the chai latté, which was disappointingly a little milky, so be warned. If a champagne brunch is more up your alley, then you are in luck: the café is licensed and can whip you up a morning cocktail.
Very busy cafe. When they are not busy they are very friendly and it's great. The food is really good quality and so are the teas and coffees. Only problem is when they are busy they get stressed and the smiles and friendliness drop away. Still very worthwhile.
My favorite morning coffee&breakfast and atmosphere in Sydney! I recommend their handmade fresh muffins , delicious. Lovely service. Great food selection.
My dish of sweet corn fritters with smoked salmon, poached egg, tomato relish and avocado salsa was, on the other hand, amazing. Fresh, plump corn kernels showed their glistening selves at every stab of the fork, and coupled with all the accompanying ingredients, was a fireworks of flavors in the mouth. This dish was a good balance between the sweet and the savoury, with the tomato relish and avocado salsa providing the former and the poached egg and smoked salmon, the latter.
