I loved the hot chocky you served me on this Sunday! Thanks for that :)
10/10 would visit again, since they have vegetarian options as well.
The experience of Stop Valve begins well before you eat with the large scale street art mural on the wall as you approach, a nod the the life of the building before it was an espresso bar.
We were welcomed and engaged with in an unhurried but efficient manner, the owner demonstrating his clear passion for genuine hospitality. Both times we were there the meals and service were faultless, as was the well designed setting.
Stop Valve appears to me to be more about quality than quantity, with a small amount of tables, high quality ingredients (they roast their own decaf beans - a rarity) and thankfully, a menu that is to the point, with some expected favourites and some unexpected surprises.
Of the expected favourites, the pulled pork roll with apple slaw is a must to savour. Running a small kitchen clearly enables the SV team to employ some creative techniques and a commitment to quality, perfectly captured in the unexpected surprise of the Fried Chicken and Waffles. Could a more classy break up/hangover/treat meal have been contrived? I think not!
Well done, Stop Valve! Our Sydney experience was made all the more memorable by your little gem, thank you for looking after us so well.
It's not the size of the ocean, it's the MOTION of the ocean and is very easy to overlook a hole in the wall establishment that has about half a dozen solo stools for eating and four tables for two outside.
Give it a chance and you'll see exactly why they can command $14-$16 for their rolls and burger selection with Asian influence. The pulled pork roll has a nice outer crust from the baguette and is filled with Apple slaw and (I asked for) chilli. Its quite substantial and perfect if youre on the go and need sustenance in addition to your coffee hit.
Table service was surprisingly proactive considering its predominantly a takeaway quick stop.
Really enjoyed my visit here! Staff were nice and the food was really tasty. Honestly one of the best French toasts I've had in this city, and I've had quiteeee a lot. Definitely coming back! Cute little place.
The fried chicken and waffles is bloody awesome this place is a must visit just to try them. Coffee service and location all also great.....
I had fantastic breakfast here on last Saturday with 4 friends. Everybody was happy with what they got. I ordered fried chicken with waffles. Omg it was so good i was doubtful about this dish but sweetness of the fruit worked surprisingly well with perfectly fried chicken. Also waffle looks/tasted like made in house. Juice was nice. Service was very attentive.
This is the ultimate little coffee spot. The coffee is beautiful, the service is fast, friendly and personal. The staff obviously really care about the quality of what they're putting out.
Have never been disappointed with the food or the coffee, it's probably the best in the Stanley St area. Their natural muesli is very good, I only wish they had more space.
I was impressed with my coffee from this Darlo cafe, which was shoehorned in beside a massive stop valve. Very good flavour and well poured.
Cute hole in the wall next to said fire stop valve and amazing Shaun Tan-esque mural. I had the chicken Caesar salad which had a nice spicy kick. Warm, friendly service. They even offered us a glass of beautiful French rose.
