One of Sydney’s first small bars, you still want to shove this cocktail powerhouse in your pocket. It has all the ingredients for a fun, relaxed, good time: street art, slouchy couches and some serious mixologists behind the swizzle stick.
The inventive, freewheeling cocktail menu runs the gamut from fun spritzers to hefty late-night cocktails. Try the Darlinghurst Rollerblading Club – a cocktail of raspberries, lime, Bombay Sapphire, honey and PX sherry.
Food isn’t forgotten either with a selection of cheeses, meats and small shares, such as cheeseburger spring rolls, polenta truffle fries and veggie nachos.
I really had a pleasant time in Pocket Bar, it has a really nice vibe and jam. The interior is unique with all interesting murals, I really love the way they combine some vintage furniture with pop art culture, there are also some cool stuff like Lego head lamp and cactus neon lamp on the wall.
The staffs were also amazing, they also will ask you about any allergen before you ordering some food. If you can't decide what to choose on drinks, you can also ask their recommendation, I have this non-alchohol pinacolada because I preferred the sweet one, this was super refreshing.
For the food, we got the meat and cheese platter with sliced fruit, tomato relish, pickles and guava jelly. We also got Bahn Mi sliders, super tender an juicy pork belly (which being cooked for long hours, that's why it was sooo tender) with salad plus a little kick of chili and Polenta truffles fries (fried with truffle oil) with Parmesan cheese which were the bomb. Will definitely revisit this place again.
We were here just for a drink before dinner and even in the short amount of time we were here, we liked the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. I would definitely come back here for drinks and some food next time we are in the area.
Went on a Wednesday evening around 8pm and found pocket bar to be a popular place to go for a few quality cocktails and some nibbles/dinner. My favourite was the Darlinghurst Rollerblading club which had the raspberry on top, the watermelon martini and Malibuyah were also well blended. Service was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable.
Had a fantastic experience at Pocket Bar Sydney. I booked here for my partner's surprise bday party, and living in Melbourne meant that I had to organise everything remotely. The staff were incredibly helpful and booking was a breeze! The chef accommodated for all the allergies and dietary requirements for my friends with no hesitation and the food (we ordered from the canape menu) tasted amazing - not to mention, more than we could actually finish. We loved the Cheeseburger Spring Rolls, Beef fillet with chimichurri, the truffles and Sliders. The drinks were amazing, and the service was fantastic and everyone was so helpful. We stayed till the place closed, and we loved vibe in the place. We all had a great time and definitely will be back next time we're in Sydney!
I love this place! I've walked past here many time before but I had no idea they even existed.
The place is dimly lit, and cool as a cucumber! The mural on the wall is sick and those leather sofas make the place look so swanky.
I didn't see any beer on tap so I ordered a cocktail (cocktail bar so obviously ordering a cocktail).
Tbh I cant remember what they were, but I remembered enjoying the drinks and had a great time there.
Pocket bar is a great little bar just off Oxford St with great drinks, service and ambiance. The drinks menu is very extensive and the cocktails are fabulous. I ordered a Bless Up, which was served in a can, how awesome! I loved the flavour combinations in this drink. The service was really fantastic and attentive. I highly recommend Pocket bar for its unique design and drinks, bring a few mates and you'll have a great evening here. I will be back!
The service was incredible, seriously would go back just for the awesome service. Everyone was absolutely lovely and patient. Not only that, but Pocket Bar gives off seriously cool vibes with just as amazing music. Like really, the music was incredible enough to get a mention.
Go there for pre or post dinner drinks, chill out, catch up with friends, and just all round have a good time. They also have quite a few food options too if you’re feeling peckish. Just went with some rose and had a jolly good time.
Pocket Bar is one of several establishments run by the Pocket Group. Located towards the Surry Hills end of Darlinghurst, and just around the corner from the ever bustling Oxford Street. Walk in, and you get a sense of Pocket Bar's personality. A collection of eclectic furnishings and fittings, there's bar seating, booths and lounges. A place for everyone.
Cool spot to come for a drink that seemed a little bit more mellow than Shady Pines, which is right around the corner. It was a place where you could actually have a conversation without yelling.
The Moscow Mule my gf got could definitely have been a little stronger and could have included some mint. Worth it to pop in some time for a few drinks.
Came here for a cocktail after dinner and ended up sitting at the bar. Nice wall art and nice low hanging naked light bulbs. Too many people tried to push in the bar and get their orders in so sitting there wasn't as pleasant as it usually would be. Cocktails were pricey but that's expected. Not a place you linger around for too long.
Pocket Bar ticks so many boxes on my personal love love list, it is ridiculous. Eclectic furniture, tick. Boho vibe, tick. Varied crowd, tick. Friendly people, tick. Comfy sofas, tick. Fun cocktail list, tick. Good eats, tick. Not surprisingly I am a little in love with this bar and it is always a must do for a big night out.
Great small bar! The bar food is so delicious and the wine list is expansive. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to ensure that we were well looked after. Will be back!
After battling numerous hangovers post-Pocket Bar drinking marathons, I am qualified to suggest you to steer clear of any creatively named cocktails that have the words ‘death’ or ‘corpse’ in the title. Order the ‘Corpse Reviver’ and you’ll get a sneaky absinthe after-kick to the head, while the ‘Day of the Dead’ will leave you gasping for air. In fact, reading the list of cocktails is amusement in itself. The boys behind the bar delight in recommending strange mixes that knock your socks off.
The food is decent but what will have you ( and me for that matter ) coming more often is the happy vibe each of the staff give off. Even the security guard at the door was willing to keep watch and raise the alarm if a parking ranger was spotted. Saving hourly trips to move the car.
Lines can form on busy nights and the small venue can have a slow turnover as people tend to stay a while: plan to arrive by 8pm on busy nights. The cocktail list is both detailed and extensive, but it can lead to some delays at the bar if you are picking a wine or beer from their more modest lists.
Need a cool place to grab a bite to eat, down a few drinks and perhaps read a book or magazine? Then check out Pocket Bar . Decked out with pop art graffiti on the walls, mismatching 70s furniture, a bar that doubles as a book case, and odd and ends on shelves, it's a hip joint without a hint of pretentiousness. I have not had the pleasure to check it out during the day (it's on my to-do list), but I've heard it's a rather nice place to stop for a coffee or catch up over brunch. At night, this place gets packed, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. If you want to put your claim to one of the comfy couches, then make sure you get there early. The friendly bar staff will do their best to find a seat for you, but you'll have to be patient as there tend to be more warm bodies than seats available on a busy night. However, you will be disappointed if you come looking for traditional bar food, because what comes out of the kitchen is restaurant quality food, perfect for sharing too. We
Love the funky vibe and intricate theme (old school typewriters, provocative pop art, decks of cards). When you read the menu you want to order everything
With a few larger shared cocktails to share on the new menu, we can’t resist the Down the Island, though the silver salad/dog bowl its presented in is a little unexpected. It’s also way too easy to drink, on the sweet side with limited boozy hit, but lots of pineapple chunks and maraschino cherries to fish out of the bowl.
After a disco nap, we ventured out to Pocket Bar and Shady Pines Saloon. These two bars are within a short walk from each other in Darlinghurst.
At Pocket, as basil was in season, it needed to show up in my glass. On par with the best cocktail spots in the US.
Delicious food & lovely service. We came for dinner on a week night and the atmosphere was great. We had the KFC (Korean fried chicken) and Tamales with pulled pork. Both dishes were perfect. There was a bit of an error with our order going through to the kitchen but the staff were so good about it and even gave us a complimentary crepe for dessert to apologise. We will be back next time we are in Sydney for sure!

Just great. Great small bar. Good drinks and friendly service. We had a lot of fun there.
Live review~!:):). Im right here, right now!
Nice food, fantastic drink! And Super attentive service! Thx for that extra bit honey comb! Sweet sweet sweet!:P
Slick service. After the coolest bouncer ever opened the door for me and my stunning gf..we had the nicest waitress.. she made our amazing cocktails.. found us seats.. poured us drinks and more.. she cared so much and went much further than she had to. love the ambiance.. music.. great find!!
Cute little bar. Great concept. The drinks selection is different from your standard cocktail bar. Very small selection of beers probably due to the space that they have. Very different selection of spirits. Pricing is on the upper end but well worth it. The Negroni we ordered were good, with a slight twist. We loved their glassware, something my grandmother would have in her antic collection. My only set back was the time we waited to be seated and the service. Staff seems very random and were not attentive. Bar staff did too much talking and not fast enough to make the drinks. Not bad for our first time, however would expect to be seated a bit quicker next time.

Food with favour & Great service
What more could anyone ask for?
I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but this place is definitely worth it. Great set up, great food and friendly staff. Will make sure I come back next time I'm in Sydney!
You're best just going here for drinks, not food. Half the menu was sold out when I went, portions are small and way overpriced. Mojitos are great. Funky interior. Staff were always nice.
Nice place - interesting decor, good food and great cocktails! But - too expensive! $20 for a cocktail, $22 for a share platter. Not outrageous, but seemed a little pricey.
Crepes. Love this place for a drink and a snack with a friend. but get in early to avoid the crowds.
This place is awesome.. So freakin chilled out and the staff are amazing. Try the Doss Blockos Pale Lager it's beer at its best
The king of Sydney's small bar scene!
There is a lot to look at while you wait for your food and cocktails - kitsch cartoon character models and old mechanical calculators and sheet music on the walls. Cocktails are great - the bartenders know their stuff. Food was good, favorites were the cuculi and pate
Great funky atmosphere. Coffee's are nice and the salads are really nice. Free internet is great extra. Great all day breakfast menu. A definite must for brunch.
What a great buzz! This place has an electric feel with friendly bar staff, great music and welcoming ambience. There is a HUGE selection of drinks as well as complimentary, alternative drinks menu. We ordered the cheeseburger spring rolls which came out semi frozen but the reaction of the bar staff was awesome - they ordered replacements immediately and then plied us with liquor as an apology. The replacement rolls were amazing - thanks for looking after us!
Stumbled upon this delightfully warm and quiet bar while it was raining outside and it couldn’t have been better. Such friendly service - the bartenders were easy to talk to and very helpful. It’s quite dim but it’s all part of the inviting ambience. Definitely recommend this place!
Have you ever had a cocktail that taste so yum that you wanted to slap your mumma???
A splendid selection of cocktails at a fair price :)
My selection was the espresso martini...
It was delicious!
Would I go back?? Hell Yeah!!
We attended this establishment as part of our friends annual gentlemans evening. We only stopped in for a quick drink the friendly barman recommended this drink (some sort of iced tea cocktail) it was delicious and fragrant. Could have drunk them all night! Very trendy and cool would recommend giving it a try if in the area!
Fantastic cocktail bar. Low key but with great service. A slice of Melbourne in Sydney.
Always loved this bar. Lovely ambience and setup inside with a decent range. I preferred the old name though. Simpler.
The place live up to it name of being an excellent cocktail bar. The bar men and women were very good with the service. The food is all vegetarian but they add some creativity by keeping the name same as their meat counterpart but switching up the meat with a plant ingredient.
I like this place. I'm not normally a cocktail drinker but my wife is and she said the cocktails are really good. I was catered for with a choice of bottles, including a mystery beer of the week. Great decor.
