This is a pretty okay casual Japanese restaurant. The chicken katsu curry was really good, and my highlight dish. The chicken was very crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The aburi salmon and spider (soft shell crab) roll were both pretty good as well.

Love this place. Such a cute little Japanese restaurant that feels hidden away. Food was very delicious and service was great. Price is reasonable. Restaurant is a bit small.

This place has a similar vibe to the small hideaway restaurants in Japan. The lunch sets were a decent feed and good value,m. However the good did take a while to come out.

+3 standard points for standard food
+1 every dish is well designed and executed
+1 no dud dishes

Noise level: quiet

Recommended Plates:
Creamy eggplant entree (Decadent)
Eggplant and Tofu main (Rich and crispy!)
Toothfish (read: butter)
Any of the rolls! (Any!)

Dud dishes: none!

Kitchen: carefully executed dishes. The restaurant puts their own twist on the asian fusion rolls. “Volcano roll” or “California roll” originated as new fusion of favours. I think Nazimi does a great job with tasty new combinations. I’ve found their flavour matching delicious!

Venue: Small. A touch more upscale than the proximity to chinatown / world square would suggest. Staff are polite, and the quiet atmosphere allows you to give full attention to your companions.

Lovely little Jap restaurant in town. I’ve been there so many time for their sukiyaki, quite cheap and portion is just right for two. Thumb up for the kitchen and service staff.

This is a very small japanese restaurant located on the under ground with just 20-25 seated. If you come in at lunch time you probably have to wait for a little while.Taste of foods was very good and originally. Try their sashimi it was very fresh sashimi and also good quality of raw fishes. A service was excellent here. But probably a little bit pricey for this small restaurant. But it's worth to try.

Visited this place after getting reminded that it exists by my coworkers (It's so so close to where I work!) and decided to check it out for dinner. Went in around 6pm and a few tables were already taken so I'd say get in early if you don't want to wait long. Ordered Takoyaki, Sashimi (Med), Blue Cheese Nigiri (One of the specials), a Dragon Roll and Chicken Katsu. Everything tasted great, but I don't think the prices are worth it for some of the dishes. $20 for the Dragon Roll and $16 for the Blue Cheese Nigiri (4 pieces)... I dunno man. I'll probably stick with the Chicken Katsu. The presentation of all the dishes were lovely though! ^_^ Might try their set menus next time, maybe they are better value.

Outstanding value for money!! A whole sashimi and sushi menu with miso soup and sweet potato for about $18! Good service and good location next to the queen victoria building.

10/10 - It is what it is, a cheap and delicious eat.

An intimate setting with greetings upon arrival from friendly staff.

The sashimi was pretty good, by the standard for what you pay. As was the beef (number 46 or 49).

A major perk was the quick service and attentive staff who cleaned my table between each meal and provided fresh chop sticks.

I'm glad I chose Nazimi while down here on work for a quick bite. You can't go wrong.

Delicious, delicious, delicious. Everything on their menu is tasty and it's very reasonably priced. The only down side is it is a very small restaurant so you feel very crammed, and there is usually a line, but they take bookings!

Good find, behind the QVB Feels like a family run place with friendly service and a good selection of delicious food. It’s an unassuming place but packed with goodness and reminds me a lot of restaurants in Japan. Everyone should find something to their liking. The chef’s selection of sushi was fresh and delicious. The vegetable tempura was light and crispy. I’ll certainly be back

Small, quaint Japanese restaurant that I stumbled across. The vibe feels very cosy and the food we ordered was really delicious. It is a bit on the pricier side, but was impressed with the quality of the salmon.

Lovely little lower-ground restaurant for a cosy and casual night out. Being located in a more quiet street of the CBD, it doesn't have a very noticeable presence but this place is still deserving to be pocketed into someone's repertoire of Sydney's Japanese restaurant gems. What really helped was their easily accessible and clear menu on their website that made it easy for us to decide what to get before stepping in. For their dinner mains menu it would be more convenient if they had an option to make it into a meal (e.g. + miso soup, + rice, + option of side). I appreciate their attention to flavour in their dishes being well balanced and satisfying. Props to the chef who made the nasubi tofu yaki because the eggplant was grilled to softness in a subtle melt-in-your mouth way and well complemented with the fried tofu. 🍚

My favourite Japanese Restaurant in Sydney. Small restaurant serving delicious Japanese Food. I been here 4 times in the last 3 months and everything has been delicious 😋 Last visit in April 2022 I had the pork gyoza, takoyaki, and Agedashi Tofu. Yum yum yum 😋 Last review: Awesome Japanese restaurant in the heart of Sydney city centre, just across from QVB Building, just minutes walk from Town Hall Train Station. Just a small restaurant with 30 seats, reminds me so much of restaurants in Tokyo. Great traditional Japanese food served by friendly Japanese staff and reasonable prices for a restaurant in the city. I had some fresh, tasty sashimi and delicious yakitori chicken Skewers.

Good place for dinner, food was great, the carpaccio tasted very fishy on the other hand - not the freshest whilst the sashimi was great, wasn’t sure what happened to the salmon carpaccio. Price is a little on the expensive side.

Excellent service, very welcoming and accomodating (called us when a table became available on a busy Friday night!) and absolutely delicious food. Every dish coming from the kitchen was fantastic. A gem in the CBD.

Habachi grill waygu steak with Umami enhanced dipping sauce that brings out more flavour from the special charcoal they used. Make no mistake, this is amazing. If you want to up your habachi grill technique in Sydney. Try this steak. I can’t think of any other place that comes close to this perfection.

A few weeks ago we came here for our anniversary. To say Hana and the team at Nazimi was hospitable would be an understatement. I called a number of restaurants that apparently did omakase, and was met with disappointment due to staffing issues or seasonal influences. Hana however, said she will speak with the chef and see whether they could offer an exclusive omakase menu, however due to staffing restraints she was uncertain. Nonetheless she emailed and messaged me as promised, to show me the menu, which involved ongoing thought and care from the chef. In the end, we were treated with a delightful dinner, with candles on a complimentary dessert to give the meal an even sweeter end. Appreciate all you and your team have done for us Hana, hope you guys are doing well and all the best!
