Review Umi Sushi + Udon - Sydney

Thien Vuong (fooderarri)
The sushi train here is not bad, as it's in Darling Harbour the price it more expensive than the other stores, but I enjoyed their soft shell crab salad quite a lot. Their other small menus are also good. Yours truly @fooderarri

I love Umi Sushi + Udon for many reasons. Besides it being a top place with great food and more, it's where I went on the first date with my wife to be Lassie. We recently went there for our son's birthday and we all loved it. Great spot and RECOMMENDED

I took pretty pictures. They might look ok, but use cheapest ingredients for every dish. Even my 2 year old refuse to eat any. Coz she can tell.

Love this place, the sushi is delicious and the sashimi is always fresh. Great value for lunch but can be a little pricey for dinner. The wait staff can be a little slow at times and even have trouble hearing when you order (I prefer my softdrink in cans or bottles instead of postmix) I normally order the Wagyu Terriyaki Beef bento box, fresh salmon sashimi and a can of softdrink. I would also recommend the Wagyu Udon noodles if you arnt in the mood for rice. Most of the plates on the sushi train are delicious and I'm certain that everything is made fresh on the same day. I see the chefs remind plates off the train after a short period and dispose of them. For Japanese food that is fresh and doesn't disappoint, I highly recommend coming here.

A decent sushi train with a huge variety of plates, hand rolls and menu items. All plates were $3.80 when so keep an eye out for specials. They're also offering $5 back when you spend $50

Nice sushi place, complete with sushi train inside and other seating outside (umbrella cover). Really enjoyed the tasty salmon handroll (complete with roe) and the fresh oysters served with ponzu. The kingfish sashimi was also quite good! As was the grilled cheese scallops.

The staff here are so lovely, polite and very accommodating. The plain udon is a hit, as well as the mini avocado rolls and inari. The sushi train is such an effective layout and the atmosphere is modern with a touch of traditionalism! Will definitely return back!

The restaurant had 0 customers at 6:30 on a Wednesday despite surrounding restaurants being full of people enjoying happy hour (this place had happy hour beers for $6). Chicken udon.was bad, they just threw I some chewy chicken pieces into the soup. The noodles were low quality (not even the frozen variety) and I strongly recommend not taking any chances with the sushi train in an empty restaurant. Hence I sat away from.the bar. However when I ordered an aburi scallop sushi but the waiter just got a plate off the belt. This is just sheer laziness. I returned it insisting for.fresh ones to be made (which they did) . Overall food was average to below average and not cooked by authentic chefs like it used to be.

Located in the darling square - the multitudes of signs and plenty of patrons looked promising. Inside the train was well loaded and at least two of each selection. The chefs were doing a multitudes of tasks - blowtorching, slicing, arranging ect. They were very smooth and fun to watch. Waitresses were quick and attentive. They were quick to respond to any needs. The iced bowl udon was fun but the bottom of the bowl melted out and leaked :( the raindrop dessert was so delicious and tasty. However the multitude of surcharges and the length of time it takes to pay was very annoying and completely took away from the experience.

Food is ok but the service is not good and especially in the long weekend seems there are not enough staffs to serve the customers. <br/>If you’ve taken the reservations in advance, at least you can’t let us wait for an hour to be served with dishes and hotpot after seated. Not a good experience at all. I don’t believe it is a genuine Japanese restaurant in CBD.
Wanderlust
Ingredients not fresh. Lemon wedge was dark brown colored as it was rotten, how can they serve this, makes u wonder what else r they allowing to b served rotten. Pork gyoza tasted weird, not sure if the pork was spoiled or if it was a strange seasoning, I took one bite and threw the entire dish away, sadly cuz I hate to waste food. Had hand roll....Seaweed paper here is too fishy and too thick, tastes bad. Udon noodle soup is decent. Chicken karage is good. Salmon bento box has salmon that is cut too thin so it is dry and tastes cheap, salmon portion is too small. <br/>Price is high. <br/>Servers r friendly , but they r extremely slow at clearing the tables (cuz they don’t care) so birds come and make a chaotic mess which makes customers want to leave as it is not relaxing. Birds chaotic ate off a table for ten minutes and even dropped the bowls, while servers can care less to shoe them away, unacceptable, other customers rushed off without finishing food cuz they didn’t like that chaotic vibe. We will not be coming back. Our friends ate here on a different occasion and also said the food was bad.

Dinner here with some friends! Im impressed, but I do have very high sushi standards! My friends ordered bento 🍱 boxes, they said they were good. I ordered kingfish sashimi and entree sashimi platter. Going to say it is a lil on the expensive side. Wish the sashimi pieces were a little bigger. All in all a nice dining experience! A lil expensive for what it is though.

Had my lunch with my partner after the dragon boat races. We each ordered one bowl of Udon, which is recommended. It tasted a bit sweet. Sushi instead is not as flesh as expected.

Umi Sushi & Udon is a casual Japanese restaurant situated in Darling Harbour. They offer both sushi train styled dining as well as separate seating with table service. They have great selection of sushi & a la carte menu.
Kololee
Pretty good happy hour deals. They have $6 drinks including some varieties of beer (e.g. Asahi), wine and spirits - an absolute bargain for this part of town.
Connoisseur Kev
well below average. wife and i with oyr kid ordered a karage chicken bento a wagu beef udon and a kids bento set.<br/><br/>Despite it being quiet when we arrived and ordered the service was very slow with all meals coming about 5 minutes apart and the kids meal last. bento was tiny though the chicken itself was quite good. beef in the udon tasted terrible. kids bento was more expensive but better that my own.<br/><br/>definately would not recommend this place based on my experience.

Located in Darling Quarter, it has a japanese feel inside. There's a sushi train here, you're typical japanese fare with entrees, sashimi, nigiri, small nibblies, hot pot, udon and more. Great place for drinks too (they have a really good range)! Try the Calpico Passion (calpico water, passion fruit and peach puree), really enjoyed this. Actually I enjoyed everything here. you can't go wrong with anything from the menu. Definitely an all round pleaser. Great with family, friends or work colleagues. Everything is fresh.<br/><br/>I had:<br/>-wagyu beef tataki<br/>-kingfish belly nigiri<br/>-soft shell crab bao<br/>-flame grilled cheese scallop<br/>-spicy wagyu beef hotpot<br/>-seared nigiri assorted platter<br/>-matcha dessert<br/>-vanilla icecream<br/><br/>Highly rate everything. I enjoyed the night. After dinner, go for a stroll in Darling Harbour to complete the night.

fresh sashimi and a lot of variation of japanese food. presentation quite nice and enjoy the sake there. They have lunch special offer which is can be very cheap

We had our dinner here on Tuesday. Although they have hot pot buffet specials, we didn't go for that. Instead we sit in and had some quick sushi.<br/><br/>Everything is average. There're only a few customers around sushi table. So perhaps that's why there're few options available for us to choose. Service is neither good nor bad.<br/>{Calpico Passion} is simply a drink mixed with calpis. The kiwifruit piece at the top was dried up. I'm not sure whether it is used for decoration or not.

Service and food were all fantastic, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and had a choice of being seated at the sushi train or the tables, we opted for the tables having a pram and a toddler. They were doing a weekday special $3.80 a plate Mon-Fri (lunch times minus Sashimi and handrolls) so after we placed our order from the menus we just went and grabbed from the train whatever we wanted. The kids menu came at $15 including food, a juice, ice cream and a lollipop, it comes out in very attractive containers too so your little one's will love it!
Kerri
Didn't really enjoy dinner here. The staff were friendly and efficient enough, except for asking us whether we wanted drinks. The sushi train plates we got were fine but overall disappointed with the options on the train. It seemed very limited and quite bare. We ordered the salmon skins and soft shelled crab baos. The salmon skin needed seasoning. Something to jazz it up as it became quite sickly oily after first few. The bao had very little sauce so was quite dry for most mouthfuls. Given the bao itself was fried too, more sauce could have helped balance the oil flavour. Possibly our fault for ordering 2 fried dishes but I often eat fried food and don't feel overpowered by oil if condiments are done right.
Frankly And Me
Umi Sushi & Udon is a contemporary Japanese restaurant and is one of the most kid friendly sushi restaurants in Sydney. Umi is located close to the children’s playground in Darling Quarter (and a short stroll from the water park near the new Sydney Exhibition Centre). There is a kids menu which offers either a kids bento or the kids udon set.
Namaste
Better than the George street branch - and more choice. Food slightly more on the expensive side though. Good service. We had the Cold Udon, Sashimi and Agedashi Tofu with Enoki Sauce.
Michellenne Yu
Food was ok.. but service was terrible.<br/>1. They have handed us a teriyaki chicken udon when we ordered a vegetable tempura udon. They were hesitant to change it even after I informed them that they had given us the wrong item. <br/>2. They handed us the bill before we had even finished eating even though we were about to get more food from the sushi train<br/>3. When I asked if they could remove some of the empty bowls/bento boxes on our table, the waitress just looked at us blankly as if I was asking for an unreasonable request. <br/>

Umi sushi is on the more expensive side when it comes to sushi train. Each plate varies from $2.60 to $7.60 (sashimi). <br/><br/>Thanks to the anniversary promotion, I finally have a chance to visit the place and freely eat without being cautious! We were greeted quickly and got to seat in front of the sushi master. Maybe that's the reason why our food turned out so fresh. I tasted some of very creative sushi plates. The staff were extremely attentive to our needs. <br/><br/>I wish our large karaage chicken had a more generous portion.

Went there for $1 oyster. The promotion mentioned that there are T&C but didnt specify details. The waitress told us the t&c was to share their post on facebook when we ordered food. I dont mind doing so and showed the shared post to the waitress when done. We wanted to order more oysters when we finished a dozen. Surprisingly, they told us that they RAN out of oyster at 6.30pm. We went there for oysters and they obviously either didnt prepare well enough or there are some hidden rules where we cannot order oysters. Hence, no mood to stay there and went to pay bill. Without telling us the total cost of bill, the cashier first demanded us to show the shared post to him even when we told him that we have already shown to the waitress. He said 'no i will need to see it.'<br/><br/>Overall, some suggestion on their services.<br/>- Instead of wasting our time guessing their T&C, it would be great to be transparent on their t&c on the promotion or before the order.<br/>- They should clear up empty plates whenever possible. We had 5 plates on the small table where one was very very big. Even though we finished some dishes, they took no initiative to clear it up. It was so messy and packed. Note these are not plates from the sushi train.<br/><br/>Will not come again..

Decent sushi range if you are up for sushi train! Udon was above average and the service was good. Nice location. Safe place to dine at if you can't choose
Wandering Ella
Quite a spacious sushi train joint near the harbour area. I liked how fresh the fish and scallops were but I wish they were a little bit more cheaper! There are different coloured plates at different price tags and the fresh fish items are often in the pricier colour range. Other than that, great variety of traditional and fusion sushis. Excellent staff too!
Jennie Dang
Go here if you want staff with a terrible attitude. Expensive non authentic sushi for subpar taste and crampy ass sushi train seating. You'd be better of grabbing a sushi roll from a food court sushi joint. Seriously.
The Miniature Life
On a humid and stormy Sydney evening, we decided to take cover in what looked like a cozy sushi-train style Japanese restaurant. There were only a few people in the place, and we wanted some quiet time so it definitely seemed perfect. Seriously, this place looks a little dark and odd on the outside, but it is ultra cozy once you step in. I love that both the sushi kitchen, and main kitchen are completely open, and the bar is also visible to all the customers.
Fussy Foodie
Price is slightly expensive, however the beef udon noodle soup that I had was rather appetising. I would definitely recommend people to come and try this place out. This is a restaurant of high quality and has a good location.

Yum... Popped in for sushi train.. So fresh and so much variety (though not many yellow plates)! Try the tuna and groper, but all is good washed down with Japanese beer! Do yourself a favour!
Milo_wendy
Toro tuna sashimi a must try.<br/>Umi is located along the strip of Darling Quarter. It has a sushi train and there is some outdoor seating available. <br/>We wanted comfort food on a cold night so we decided on udon noodles. After looking at the menu, we decided on spicy wagyu udon, teriyaki chicken udon, beef tataki, spider roll, grilled wagyu sushi, Toro sashimi, kids doll meal (choice of oj or apple juice, udon noodle soup, tuna mini sushi, seaweed, fruit salad and green tea ice cream). <br/>The wagyu sushi didn't look fresh as it was garnished with shallots that seemed to have dried out. After pushing it to the side, the wagyu was a bit chewy. The sauce was nice, nice smokey flavours, but the rice didn't taste fresh. My wagyu udon lacked the 'spice' factor, disappointed as the menu said 'spicy'. The half egg didn't look fresh and didn't taste it either. The soup was nice, nice balance of flavours. The chicken udon wasn't bad either. But we preferred to have karaage chicken udon but we weren't given that option. The spider roll tasted okay. The soft shell crab was crispy and the spicy mayo was nice but there was no 'wow' factor. It was nicely presented though. Photo - worthy. The beef tataki was okay, the meat did not melt in your mouth. The flavors were okay, salty, tangy and sweet. The Toro sashimi was good. A must try. It's a good way to taste the tuna. There is an option to have as sushi or sashimi or both. We decided just on sashimi. There are 3 types from lean to the more fatty type. The leaner pieces just melted in your mouth. So good. The more fatty pieces were soft but not as good as the leaner pieces. The kids meal was more of a novelty than anything else. The udon was tasty but that's where it stops. The sushi was dry. The seaweed salad didn't taste fresh. The 'fruit salad' was a pice of orange, rock melon and watermelon - all of which looked dry and old. We didn't even touch it, I would have preferred them to tell me they didn't have it then to serve it as it didn't belong in the lunch box but in the bin. The green tea ice cream was icy, it looked like it was scooped out, placed in the freezer then served with half a bowl of cream. It was also left, barely touched. The cold green tea latte wasn't nice either, the matcha was bitter and it had too much ice and whipped cream. <br/>I wouldn't come back for the sushi as it wasn't fresh but definitely for the toro tuna sashimi. <br/>
Brave Eat
Friendly people and very spacious place. Sushi is was ok not the greatest but not bad. I really liked it their salad and udon they tasted amazing and the atmosphere was great. I recommend this place for any occasions.
Toshie Suzuki
I ordered salad and I found gum leaf on the bowl. I asked one of the staff "Can I eat gum leaf?" She said this is just decoration you can eat but better not...Are you serious? No way!
Tina Hsu
Sushi fell apart as soon as you pick it up. Knives obviously not sharp enough as most rolls have jagged edges. Seafood quality poor. Only the freshly made tokoyaki was good.
Jules
Got the wagyu sukiyaki deal which came with a generous serving of wagyu and udon but only a small plate of vegetables. Ordered extra noodles which was $7 or $8... pretty excessive for a small bowl of plain udon. <br/><br/>The manager was lovely but some of the waitresses really need to work on their customer service. When one of them came over with our drinks, I started asking her a question and she just walked away when I was mid sentence! Another asked us if we were ready for our ice cream when we were still eating our udon, bowls in hand and all.

Thanks to Groupon, I got to try this restaurant out with a good price! Me and my friend had a Sukiyaki for two including udon and green tea ice cream with a bottle of wine for only just $59. What a bargain! Umi is a busy restaurant but they still manage to provide good service. Their beef and vegetables are very fresh. Udon is smooth and fresh. Loved it! Just observing their sushis on their sushi train, they are in reasonable size and can tell all are freshly made on the spot! Worth to try!
Sarah Huang
Dreadful! Ordered food through Deliveroo to my office and the servings were tiny. Plus there was no soy sauce provided for my sushi. Plus my 4 piece California roll only came with 2 pieces! Never ordering from here again. And so expensive too!
Zoupitup
Nice food - pleasant sashimi, fried soft shell crab was ok, cheesy mayo scallops meanwhile - absolutely and utterly delicious. It was missing some crusty, garlicky bread! Very un Japanese but delicious nevertheless!
Perth Critic
The worst sushi I've tasted, compared to the worst sushi restaurants even in Perth! Rice is mushy and sushi is tasteless and bland even with the different fillings. I think it has put me off sushi for a while.
BIGSPAG
First time, dined wed night. Nice setup, friendly waiters and sushi chefs. The dishes from train is high quality. We shared the waygu beef, the chicken popcorn and veg tempura from menu. Very nice but the prices are high being at darling.
ZomatoFun
FRESH is the word to describe this sushi train. The taste is also above average. However, you tend to feel too salty especially the udons and their own brand sushi soy sauce. The price is tourist price at darling harbour. Make sure you use the entertainment book vouchers if u got one.
Yejin Joo
My favourite Japanese at darling harbour. If you are not sure what to have at darling harbour, come and try it. You won't regret it. The wagyu beef and spicy wagyu udon are my favourite here. Food is good for price and very very tasty. Clean decor and good location. Service could be improved however!
Olive Luna
I ordered a duck salad, cold udon, and oyster, also my boyfriend had some rolls. the duck salad was interesting flavour and I did like it. the dipping sauce coming with cold udon was too bland to eat, so I ended up eating it with soy sauce, I was sad because udon is such a basic dish.
Kate Davies
Awesome food - can't get enough of the beef tataki. Sake is cheap and cheerful but goes down well enough. Service could be improved but because I can speak Japanese we overcame the language barrier. Will be back. ありがとうございます。
Miffy7
I enjoy coming here for my sushi train fix. They have a good variety and while it can be slightly more expensive compared to some other trains in the city, the quality makes up for it. <br/><br/>When I have my toddler, we sit on the big tables and they have highchairs and they bring out cute cutlery for the kids. Love their sashimi, soft shell crab rolls and eel rolls.
Vishal Gohel
Good selection on the sushi train and lots of other options. Well priced and the chefs will make something fresh if it's usually on the train but sold out. Quick service.
Meagan Tran
Loveeee their spicy udon! Sashimi selection and presentation is also on point. Would recommend the refreshing tataki. Order sushi from the menu if its not on the train - totally worth it
Elaine Tsang
Great place with great food. Plenty of tables with outdoor seatings. Love the hotpot during winters months, but we were too busy smashing cold and warm sake so forgot to take photos of food.
Thagoat
Inattentive staff, lack of variety. As you can tell from my review no enthusiasm for this place. Save your money.
Cheeseandwine
Great udon and a great choice of sushi on the train. The train runs around the chefs who you can watch preparing more sushi as you eat.
Food Crate
It was a late Thursday night and work had just wrapped up. My colleagues and I were ready to call it a night but the pangs of hunger beckoned for a tasty meal. I asked if there were any good Korean restaurants in the neighborhood and my colleague told me there was a place real close. A couple minutes later, we ended up in front of Umi Sushi + Udon, a Japanese restaurant.<br/><br/>Located in Darling Harbour, Sydney, Umi Sushi + Udon was one of many dining establishments along the strip. Like others in the area, this restaurant has an open storefront and patio seating. Inside the restaurant, one will find a sushi bar with a conveyor belt that runs along the perimeter.
The Set Menu
The Japanese restaurant is situated within the constantly-revamping Darling Quarter, a great area for dining before a show at the Sydney Entertainment Centre or the Monkey Baa Theatre. Tree-top fairy lights guide couples and groups as they bustle past a handful of trendy eating spots, and Umi Sushi is right there amongst them. The decor is mainly wooden, and with the tiled floors and roofed floating-island it certainly could pass as an popular outdoor Edokko hotspot.
Camila.l
The Quality of the food is pretty good, it's an average Sushi place. They do have seasonal menus and their normal menu is EXTENSIVE! They have everything from Entrees, Salads, Udon, Ramen, Sushi! The List goes on! The food is usually cooked on the spot and it does take a little while for the food to come out. The sushi train is not AS fresh. It's still pretty fresh but... I don't know. I think it's because the sushi train itself is really long, it doesn't get refilled as quick as a shorter train would! The Service of the place is very good. They're always very friendly and the waitresses are really nice, even though they don't speak much English haha. They will always greet their customers with a " Irrashaimase! -  いっらしゃいませ" and " Arigatou Gozaimasu! -  ありがとうございます" which is always very welcoming and it also makes you feel im

Overall, Umi sushi served some pretty delicious sushi, although it is a bit on the pricier side, even with the lunch special. Service is sparse, but the atmosphere was busy and lively.
Weekendfoodescapes
Umi has a giant sushi train in the middle of it's restaurant in Darling Quarter. It's a very busy night and a bit of a wait but I think worthwhile. Their udon dishes are tasty and very reasonably priced. There's the chicken katsu udon (with egg, splashes of seaweed, tempura flakes) and I also ordered the beef teriyaki spinach udon dish (with the same trimmings as the first udon).  The sushi plates are good and consistent but I suggest you do a combination of main/sushi plates. I also tried the dessert which was a warm green tea brulee and cold mascarpone roll. I thought the brulee was nice with a crunchy top and an egg-like soft bottom.  The mascarpone roll was rock hard and cold.  It was a rich roll but provided contrast to the brulee. A nice dinner with some nice company :) Prices: Udon dishes range from $12 to 15, Sushi plates are colour coded and dessert was $10
Confessions Of A Glutton
We asked to be seated at the sushi train bar, where we could then watch the chefs at their work. Sitting within a metre’s distance from them, you couldn’t smell the fish they were working on at all, and it was wonderful to see them filleting and twirling their big knives with such finesse.
Retrodaze
Pricing of the sushi plates range from $2.60 to $6.60. If you're ordering off the paper menu, you can't see how much the plates cost unless you ask the waitress because they are only shown as pictures (see menu below).
Excuse Me Waiter
I’d recommend dropping by Umi during their Happy Hour promotion to take advantage of $4 sake, $5 beers and $6 wines as well as their bargain add on of a selection of bar snacks for just $1. It’s a chilled environment with efficient service and you can eat as much or as little as you want off the sushi train depending on your mood.
Susan ChocolateSuze Thye
...generally my mind doesn’t go kaboom when eating udon noodles in miso soup but it was piping hot with clean flavours and a perfectly gooey egg. The noodles had a pleasingly chewy bite and a spoonful of fried tempura bits and seaweed fills my stomach with happiness.
Simon Leong
Try the Choya Umeshu, Lotus Root Chips, Salmon & Avocado Salad and Daifuku. Salads seem reasonably priced to become a regular lunch option. They seem to love using snow pea sprouts on lots of the dishes but doesn't go too well on an oyster for me.
Jobe
it's more quality from the kids at Umi. Whether you want a sushi train fix, a bowl of noodles or a bento box you should enjoy it.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Nine months after first discovering this restaurant-masquerading-as-a-sushi-train, I’m back for a more wintery bite. Before warming my cockles with the tempting Miso Congee Hotpot with Wagyu Beef (9+), Vegetables and Fresh Udon ($32.80), I couldn’t resist revisiting some of my favourites.
Food Booze Shoes
Although Umi Sushi Udon in the new-ish Darling Quarter precinct features an elegant sushi train, they have plenty on the menu beyond the conveyor belt of sushi morsels. At Japanese restaurants I love starting with edamame  soy beans as I ponder over a menu, as if they provide sustenance for perusing lengthy menus. These  edamame were tossed in pepper, chilli and soy sauce, making each pod a warm and delicious delight to pop into the mouth and squeeze for the beans. Yuzu sake and brown sugar umeshu plum wine Umi Sushi Udon has an intriguing selection of sake and umeshu plum wine. The citrusy yuzu sake was light, sweet and rather similar to lemon squash. They have Choya umeshu and another brand that's a drier plum wine, in addition to the brown sugar variety which is dark, caramelly sweet, and best served with lots and lots of ic

Great little lunch spot. Great, friendly staff, quick service, yum sushi and udon.

DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE!. My friend and I went there for lunch last weekend, and we experienced the worst service and food ever! <br/><br/>When we sat down, the staff told us 6 of us are not allowed to sit loosely at the 6 people table (despite we have 4 adults+2kids and my friend is heavily pregnant), as they want to leave 2 seats for future customers ( although half of their tables are empty), so we were forced to squeeze into 4 seats at a 6 seater table, kids had to eat on our laps. Guess what, those 'future customers' never came, those 2 seats at the end of our table were never used through our entire meal.<br/> <br/>The food was horrible, extremely expensive with pathetic serving size. My husband ordered wagyu beef udon, there was literally 2 pieces of thinnly sliced beef in the soup, with some noodles, but nothing else. Clearly the beef was not even wagyu, we asked the staff and they just lied to our face that they assure it is wagyu. mind you they charge you $14.90 for that crap!<br/><br/>When I complained to the staff, a male staff at his 40s rudely interrupted me and yelled 'What? I've never heard such complaint, nothing wrong with the serving size, the bowl is big so it looks small, if you are not happy, cancel it all!'. His tone and body language was so offensive that it seemed he was ready to pick up a fight. After our meal, he even came around did more provocation "so are you still hungry? serving size too small? huh? oh you don't want to talk about it, FINE!"<br/><br/>None of us was full in the end, so we had to go to the foodcourt for a second meal afterwards. It was my one and only experience in that place, and I would NEVER EVER go back there again, Would NOT recommend this horrible place to anyone!
Dennis
AMAZING LUNCH. Great. location thatbibdidnt know even existed until today. <br/><br/>super freah sushimi, amazing wasabi included along with freah ginger and good beer/wine selection. <br/><br/>I will be back+

Terrible service. On the pricey side for average sushi. Toilet thats is supposedly for customers only was disgusting. I work in darling park but I'd rather go to Sushi Rio on Sussex St for $3 sushi and service is much better!
ANGRY COFFEE MAN
Slow Service. Service is very slow, but the sushi itself was very good. I found the pricing to be extremely fair on the sushi train.<br/><br/>Their soy sauce is delicious too.
Rawcatpie
Bit pricey but fish is fresh. Impressed! The only thing I didn't like was how a sushi chef was checking his phone.
Sydneyguyrojoe
Not bad but pricey. I like its counterpart which is located closer to Chinatown<br/><br/>The food was nice, fresh but portion sizes are small.<br/>Ambience wise, there is a sushi conveyor belt here and seating outside, and my partner liked the ambience, the look of the place<br/><br/>Service, nil issues here<br/><br/>Value, a little expensive especially for the oprtion sizes you get, but its expected too due to the location<br/><br/>Its the only one in DArling harbour area but if you dont mind a small walk you can find cheaper alternatives elsewhere

Simon Food Favourites review. Chef Special Sashimi Tasting Plate ($9.80, 3 kinds) was fresh and quite thick slices which thankfully didn't have any sinew. Natural Oyster with Orange Soy and Basil Ponzu dressing ($11, 3 pieces) were large pacifics although I don't think they were shucked to order and one of them was unfortunately a bit mushed up and badly presented. The snow pea sprouts don't work on an oyster though which makes it awkward to slurp down. The Soft Shell Crab Salad ($11.80) looked good. Would have loved a bit more soft shell crab for the amount of lettuce. Crab was cooked with a nice crisp batter but salad needed more salad dressing which I asked for. Not sure about the corn kernels which aren't the easiest to eat with chopsticks but provided a nice sweet pop to the palate. I enjoyed the Home Made Pork Gyoza ($6.80, 5 pieces) which seemed reasonably priced and actually like dipping them in the extra salad dressing I received which had a chilli kick. If you don't mind the roe on your scallops then the Flame Grilled Cheese Scallop ($12.80, 3 pieces) might be your thing. Scallops were a decent size but one of them was overcooked for some reason while the other two were just right. They had just enough cheese on them to appreciate and worked well with a squeeze of the lemon for a bit of zing. Service by Peter (trainee) was pretty good and followed up with topping up table water. Service seemed friendly and pretty efficient cleaning and preparing tables quite promptly. Downside for me on this visit was the uncomfortable high chairs around the sushi train. Quite awkward to rest feet underneath so next time will try and sit at a lower table.
Fatchops
Good option for kids - really generous kids bento box. Big serves of menu items too.

Good opening. We went there during their opening special (I think it opened just a couple weeks ago). All of their sushi dishes were $3.60 and under. We sat at the bar and watched the kaiten sushi go by. <br/><br/>The bar is a bit strange because there are some bump-outs which actually make it inconvenient to grab the sushi on its way past. Try to avoid these seats.<br/><br/>The sushi itself was surprisingly good. There was a lot of variety, and everything we had was good. The ingredients seemed really fresh. And there was one that had beef (I think) that melted in your mouth. Delicious.<br/><br/>It's a bit pricey normally. But the $3.60 opening special was great.
