Had my lunch with my partner after the dragon boat races. We each ordered one bowl of Udon, which is recommended. It tasted a bit sweet. Sushi instead is not as flesh as expected.
Umi Sushi & Udon is a casual Japanese restaurant situated in Darling Harbour. They offer both sushi train styled dining as well as separate seating with table service. They have great selection of sushi & a la carte menu.
Pretty good happy hour deals. They have $6 drinks including some varieties of beer (e.g. Asahi), wine and spirits - an absolute bargain for this part of town.
Located in Darling Quarter, it has a japanese feel inside. There's a sushi train here, you're typical japanese fare with entrees, sashimi, nigiri, small nibblies, hot pot, udon and more. Great place for drinks too (they have a really good range)! Try the Calpico Passion (calpico water, passion fruit and peach puree), really enjoyed this. Actually I enjoyed everything here. you can't go wrong with anything from the menu. Definitely an all round pleaser. Great with family, friends or work colleagues. Everything is fresh.
I had:
-wagyu beef tataki
-kingfish belly nigiri
-soft shell crab bao
-flame grilled cheese scallop
-spicy wagyu beef hotpot
-seared nigiri assorted platter
-matcha dessert
-vanilla icecream
Highly rate everything. I enjoyed the night. After dinner, go for a stroll in Darling Harbour to complete the night.
fresh sashimi and a lot of variation of japanese food. presentation quite nice and enjoy the sake there. They have lunch special offer which is can be very cheap
Service and food were all fantastic, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and had a choice of being seated at the sushi train or the tables, we opted for the tables having a pram and a toddler. They were doing a weekday special $3.80 a plate Mon-Fri (lunch times minus Sashimi and handrolls) so after we placed our order from the menus we just went and grabbed from the train whatever we wanted. The kids menu came at $15 including food, a juice, ice cream and a lollipop, it comes out in very attractive containers too so your little one's will love it!
Umi Sushi & Udon is a contemporary Japanese restaurant and is one of the most kid friendly sushi restaurants in Sydney. Umi is located close to the children’s playground in Darling Quarter (and a short stroll from the water park near the new Sydney Exhibition Centre). There is a kids menu which offers either a kids bento or the kids udon set.
Better than the George street branch - and more choice. Food slightly more on the expensive side though. Good service. We had the Cold Udon, Sashimi and Agedashi Tofu with Enoki Sauce.
Quite a spacious sushi train joint near the harbour area. I liked how fresh the fish and scallops were but I wish they were a little bit more cheaper! There are different coloured plates at different price tags and the fresh fish items are often in the pricier colour range. Other than that, great variety of traditional and fusion sushis. Excellent staff too!
On a humid and stormy Sydney evening, we decided to take cover in what looked like a cozy sushi-train style Japanese restaurant. There were only a few people in the place, and we wanted some quiet time so it definitely seemed perfect. Seriously, this place looks a little dark and odd on the outside, but it is ultra cozy once you step in. I love that both the sushi kitchen, and main kitchen are completely open, and the bar is also visible to all the customers.

The sushi train here is not bad, as it's in Darling Harbour the price it more expensive than the other stores, but I enjoyed their soft shell crab salad quite a lot. Their other small menus are also good. Yours truly @fooderarri
I love Umi Sushi + Udon for many reasons. Besides it being a top place with great food and more, it's where I went on the first date with my wife to be Lassie.
We recently went there for our son's birthday and we all loved it. Great spot and RECOMMENDED
Love this place, the sushi is delicious and the sashimi is always fresh. Great value for lunch but can be a little pricey for dinner.
The wait staff can be a little slow at times and even have trouble hearing when you order (I prefer my softdrink in cans or bottles instead of postmix)
I normally order the Wagyu Terriyaki Beef bento box, fresh salmon sashimi and a can of softdrink. I would also recommend the Wagyu Udon noodles if you arnt in the mood for rice.
Most of the plates on the sushi train are delicious and I'm certain that everything is made fresh on the same day. I see the chefs remind plates off the train after a short period and dispose of them.
For Japanese food that is fresh and doesn't disappoint, I highly recommend coming here.
Nice sushi place, complete with sushi train inside and other seating outside (umbrella cover). Really enjoyed the tasty salmon handroll (complete with roe) and the fresh oysters served with ponzu. The kingfish sashimi was also quite good! As was the grilled cheese scallops.
The staff here are so lovely, polite and very accommodating. The plain udon is a hit, as well as the mini avocado rolls and inari. The sushi train is such an effective layout and the atmosphere is modern with a touch of traditionalism! Will definitely return back!
