Came here to try the king prawn avo pizzetta and spaghetti with ausie pipis, the taste really good! love the unique ice choco there and mocha, i’m so happy!!!
Delicious and beautiful desserts. Worth to try because it makes you exciting in the first place, and then surprise taste when u fork on it. Didnt manage to try the savoury, but definitely Love it! Price is around 10-16 per pcs. Staffs were not so friendly, were alright..
I have ordered the coconut cake, flamingo cake, the summer breeze and rose latte. Their cakes are quite good with just right sweetness and quite exquisite. Must try the rose latte!

Superb sweets & yummy savouries and decor worthy of a home magazine! Had the Scampi angelhair pasta and Birds Nest poke bowl - impressed by the fresh flavours of the angelhair chilled pasta, mango salsa with a vinaigrette sauce, Poke bowl was a classic done well and generous with ingredients plus edamame beans my favourite! Standout dishes were their Christmas range of desserts - had the Santa hat (berry coconut mousse), Snowman (mango sago) and Coconut (predictably coconut flavoured) but they were made so delicately, the glaze on the desserts was silky smooth not an imperfection in sight! Enjoyed myself lots and if it's not too hot it's nice to people watch on their outdoor balcony seating.
Went there for an afternoon tea. We were welcomed by friendly staff once we walked in, followed by attractive elegant edible sculptures in the marble cake counter. I felt in love with this cafe straight away. 😍
Their cakes all looked charming & sophisticated. It made me want to try everything piece. I picked the Christmas theme ones since Christmas is just around the corner. The Christmas hat has a beautiful glaze all over, inside was mixed berries mousse, the pom pom tip & white rim were made with springy marshmallow coated with coconut, how clever. 🤩 As for the Snowman, it has a mango filling & sago with vanilla ice cream coated in white chocolate shell. Both desserts were too cute to eat. 😚
Both coffees were nicely presented, especially the Affogato, the espresso coffee was served in a test tube for you to pour it into an elegant stem glass with silky smooth vanilla ice cream. The whole dining experience was delightful. I’ll definitely return for their savoury meals. 😃
Went for dinner on a Thursday night. We were the only ones having dinner there (there's two levels - below is the Cafe), but the food was great, so I can't fathom why it isn't more popular. We ordered the duck breast and lamb rack. I do think the duck skin could be crispier / cooked by separating the skin from the meat so there isn't so much fat underneath, but it was an enjoyable meal nevertheless. Food was well priced - French food is typically really expensive in Sydney, and portions were alright - we weren't very hungry. The decor however was amazing - the whole place had a lovely ambience, and I'd love to come back to try the brunch/high tea.
Came here to find the eclair but unfortunately it was sold out. We ordered some cakes that are pretty awesome. My favorite will be the coconut and the flamingo. The coconut is far the most refreshing cake that I’ve eaten lately. The flamingo is very unique and something you won’t get anywhere else. Besides, the pistachio wasn’t good. I felt like I ate heaps of coco butter. The santa hat was fine for me it’s not bad but I guess it’s just normal. Not to forget I really like the Christmas decor and how they set the chairs. It’s just so creative and I could sit there for hours

Tried out the new high tea menu at Chez Sun and was pleasantly delighted by the range of sweet and savoury options in the set.
At $39pp, the set includes three tiers with treats such as macaroons, eclairs, tarts, wraps, sandwiches and scones. Though I prefer savoury over sweet, I did feel there was a nice balance between the two.
The hand-made pastries were gorgeously delicious and I particularly liked the fruit tart. The chocolate waffle was a little too sweet for my liking though did look beautiful on the stand.
Sandwiches and wraps were nice though I would have liked a little more filling in the sandwiches. Clotted cream and jam went perfectly with the scones as well.
As part of the high tea menu, I also tried the lemon and ginger tea, and ruby red rosehip tea. The teas were fragrant and I was glad to see that they used loose leaf tea for a more intense and true flavour.
Overall, lovely little café with a great high tea menu. If you're ever around and feeling a little fancy, make sure to go check them out!

Food was service a bit slow but totally worth it. They have the best dessert and the decor is really cozy.
We went there with a group of 10 and their staff was friendly.

This is one of the cutest cafes I’ve been to! If you visit, make sure to sit upstairs as the place is very beautifully decorated. Both the inside and patio area on the second floor are very cute and homey.
We ordered the crab omelette and the poke bowl. The omelette was ok but the poke bowl was absolutely incredible! The salmon was so fresh and the ingredients mixed in very well with each other. For coffee we ordered the iced rose latte and the iced coffee jelly latte. I personally preferred the rose latte, but if you don’t like too much sweetness in your coffee go for the jelly latte. For dessert we ordered the apple and cherry cakes. The apple was very good, with actual apple pieces and cream inside. But I didn’t really like cherry one as it was black forest flavored.
Definitely want to go back during winter to sip coffee and sit by their fireplace!!
Awesome little hidden cafe. Food was delicious and drinks were refreshing. Desserts looked way too good to eat. Took my family here for breakfast plus our puppy so we had to sit outside which was way too hot for us and our newborn. The manager(legend!) quickly picked up on this and asked us to move inside but the puppy had to be carried which was Absolutely fine with us. An overall awesome joint. Great service, yummy food and drinks. Will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu.

Chez Sun is an amazing patisserie! It is also much more that just a master of fine cakes. It is also a great place to enjoy a coffee and meal for breakfast, brunch and even dinner Thursdays - Saturdays. This two level eatery is located in Surry Hills toward the Oxford St end of Crown St. The bottom level has an open view of crown street. Once inside, head up toward the counter where you are greeted by the friendly staff. It is here where you see the beautiful display of cakes, which are an absolute work of art. If you are dining in, it is recommended that you head up stairs. Once on the upper level, you will find an oasis in the heart of Surry Hills. With an inviting French inspired sitting/dining area, you can sit down in a tranquil environment for hours. There are burgundy leather bench seats, a fire place, book shelf and nicely upholstered lounge chairs and marble coffee tables. This is a perfect spot to enjoy a cake accompanied by tea or coffee.
We visited on a sunny Sunday and chose to pass through the luxurious sitting/dining area and out on to the black and white mosaic tiled terrace balcony. A great spot to enjoy a coffee, juice or tea whilst pondering what was the night before and browsing the brunch menu.
The brunch menu literally had something for everyone. Plenty of breakfast and lunch options: both sweet, savoury, healthy or a hangover cure. This made for a tough decision. The hot cakes are an absolute must, the plate nicely decorated with light golden discs (hotcakes), served with a berry coulis that is not overly sweet and combines nicely with the decadent quinelle of marscapone.
A tasty savoury option is the three egg omelette with bacon, mushroom and jalapeno's, nicely presented with the omelette wrapped around a flakey croissant topped with parmesan and hazelnut.
Be sure to save some space for the patisserie on the way out. The items on display impeccably presented to reflect real items. The white peach, filled with peach cream was very fresh and perfect for sumner. The green apple was very impressive, it actually looked like a glazed granny smith. This was also light and fresh the braised diced apple and dill centre a nice flavour combination. The were a number of items on display that will have us return for more.
Chez Sun echoes quality in all that is put forward. The meals are extremely delicious and nicely presented as are the sweets. The set up of this terrace is ecclectic and inviting. This is a great spot to escape, enjoy a bite to eat with your tea or coffee.

Great food, great coffee, great maître pâtissier!! Everything not only looks absolutely perfect and beautiful but it also tastes delicious. For the Mont Blanc fans, this one might be even better then the original one from Angelina. A place that definitely is worth a visit.
The eggs benedict and coffee (piccolo) for breakfast were excellent. Sides (had the chorizo) were reasonably priced with a good sized portion and very tasty. The only so so was the deconstructed iced mocha which wasn't described as such on the menu.
The desserts however were amazing and from another world. Had an assortment including the raspberry egg and chocolate tart. These are fairly expensive but are definitely for sharing.
The staff were also very attentive, helpful and nice. Plenty of kudos to them.
Paid parking is ample on Goulburn St most days just around the corner and Crown St is ok during weekends.
Had a wonderful lunch at Chez Sun! We had the Chia Seeds Pudding, Risotto and the Black Angus Beef Fillet with side of avocado. Absolutely delicious all around, couldn't fault a dish! Can't wait to come back for a high tea x
Great food, friendly service although you can feel a bit forgotten if you are the only table upstairs at lunch. The pappadelle with mushrooms is delicious!! Our fave dish! Desserts looked amazing but we were too full to order any.. and our kids were rancid by this time! Very spacious too.
