I was just there for a takeaway flat white on Xihuahua 🐶 ‘s strong recommendation. They roast their own beans at the back and the place smells very aromatic. The coffee is beautiful! The aroma of the bean is strong and smooth. Almond milk was rich. They do a small discount for uni students if u show your student card. Service is fast but somehow the staff served me appeared to be not in the best mood.😐 Their coffee is expensive but I can see why in a good way.
Their Toby's Estate beans are stocked in hundreds of cafes around Australia, so no wonder their coffee is stellar! Their bacon and egg rolls are amazing too.
[invite] Bianca: Toby’s Estate supplies coffee beans to hundreds of cafes in Australia. Beginning their story in 1998 when owner Toby Smith (upon returning from a coffee holiday) opened a small roaster in Wolloomoolloo. The Chippendale outpost, now their current flagship cafe and roasting location opened in 2005 and has recently undergone a refurb.
One of the better cafes around the area - lovely decor, atmosphere and space. A bit of a limited menu, but a lovely space to hangout and get amazing coffee & tea.
4/5 Decor and space
Roomy and tidy, huge long table for 8 persons, a few outdoor seatings, a row of good-view seatings, facing to the victory park
Not too crowded on Sunday.
5/5 service
Lovely waitress with lots of patience
4.5/5 coffee ☕️
Strong coffee scent with rich almond flavour, really nice ?
3.5/5 food
4.5 pulled pork sandwich ?
+$2 extra for dining in. Toasted pork sandwich, yummy ?! The crispy bread, yummy salad sauce and well-marinated pulled pork with fresh salad vegetable.
3/5 Bircher Muesli
“Combine oats, milk, apple juice and lemon juice and let sit overnight in the refrigerator. “ - the receipt of Bircher. Therefore the oats are soft and no extra yogurt. I personally love more yogurt or milk ? rather than a full bowl of oats.... but good try.
Excellent coffee, fragrant and consistently good. Well presented and perfectly made every time. They roast their own beans out the back.
I'm glad there's healthy options on the menu - the harvest bowl was tasty, crunchy and delicious.
Toby’s Estate - This self-proclaimed specialty coffee roaster is not bluffing when they stated that they don’t just like coffee, but love and live for it. Founded by Toby Smith, who learned to grow coffee plantations of Brazil, Guatemala, and Colombia, and who over the years have mastered the art of specialty coffee roasting. A magnet for students (located across the University of Sydney) and also cool young Sydneysiders, this café will give you one of the best coffees around, healthy breakfast menu like the lemon-glazed blueberry muffin or their chewy oatmeal cookies, and buzzing atmosphere.

🍴 ESTATE EGGS: w/ field mushrooms, rocket, Fetta, hollandaise sauce 🍴
We all know Toby's Estate, they do coffee right? Yes. But did you know their cafes do amazing food too? I sat down with Chippendale Manager Franck and talked in depth about his direction he wants to take the cafe in. This staple menu dish is available as vegan, gluten free, vegetarian, or stacked with extra bacon and salt. No matter how you like it, its achievble. Perfectly cooked eggs. Freshly made in house hollandaise (yes, Fresh!). Come for the coffee, stay for the food guys 👊
LOVE toby's. They have delicious coffee, and equally delicious food. We've taken so many take out breakfasts from here, and they have all been wonderful. They serve up fresh juices too, which I love. You will always find this place bustling with USYD students and families from the camperdown darlington area. The cafe is cute and inviting, and feels almost like it is your own living room in a way - which i absolutely love. I love how bright the place is with plenty of natural sunlight. Staff is always super friendly, and the service is usually quite timely. If it's a busy day it can get a bit delayed :P
I enjoyed coming here for lunch, it's quite cool seeing the coffee factory through the glass wall! To eat we had the buttermilk chicken burger and prosciutto tartine. The burger was sooo yummy and had a generous filling of chicken and guacamole. The tartine was also very nice, it's basically toasted bread with poached eggs, balsamic dressing, figs and ricotta. It had a good balance of sweet and sour, I really loved the figs! This was a nice fresh meal to have. The sticky chai is average, it needed a more intense and sweet flavor I feel. Coffee was spot on 👌 overall it was nice food and the service was very friendly.
Wife and I have been wanting to check out the new store and finally got around to it. Did not disappoint. Coffee is awesome as usual (Even bought coffee beans for my home machine) and nice food to suit the coffee too. Lovely team there at Toby's :)
One of Sydney’s best coffee experiences. I love getting a perfect coffee from this place. They have recently changed the aesthetic and function of the shop. It is a really nice feel with the big open table in the middle with the barista standing to the side. Coffee is exceptional.
Located on the main road. There is no dedicated parking but there are few spots in front of the cafe and a residential area behind so shouldn't be too difficult. Seating available inside for 25+ people.
Service and coffee quality is typical Tobys fare. They do not carry any flavoured syrups in this branch.
Great coffee, helpful staff, delicious food. They have a variety of blends and portions. The staff are more than happy to help you grind the beans prior to purchase.
Smooth and tasty oat flat white. Great seeing the coffee roasting at the back before being sent out across Australia.
Nice to see the Toby's Estate cafe in Chippendale back in business, after several months' closure for remodelling. The new set-up looks quite good, being centred around a coffee tasting bar, and with some tables and bench seating around the walls and front windows.
The coffee is as good as ever: a nice selection of single origins, and a decent house blend. The kitchen and à la carte lunch menu are no more, but there is a good choice of decently portioned sandwiches and some seriously amazing toasties (mushroom, cheese and truffle - yum), and if you still have room, pastries and excellent Portuguese custard tarts from Tuga bakery in Alexandria.
Worth a visit.
First off, the food and coffee are delicious. I'm so picky with coffee and Toby's Estate was PERFECT. The staff within the cafe were also service superstars and so friendly. 110% recommend Toby's Estate ✨
