We celebrated a special occasion at 12 Micron in Barangaroo and whilst it's almost been a year, I'm still thinking about the food and desserts. I have mixed feelings at the moment - part of me feels lucky to be able to experience the amazing food and 5 course dessert menu from 12 Micron however, the other part of me feels disappointed. Due to popuarity, 12 Micron is now exclusively a venue and dining destination for hire. They take bookings for private dinners through to venue hire for weddings and conferences.
I have been twice for the
Leisurely Lunch which is the set menu with 2hrs bottomless cocktails for $89. It is fantastic! Heaps of really delicious food. Choice of 6 or 7 cocktails, gorgeous location at Barrangarro with views over the water, modern decor and comfortable seating. Very reasonable price for all they are offering.

Went here for dessert. It's a very chill but fancy restaurant with good views. The dessert menu is really interesting with different combinations of textures and flavours. I can't remember what we got exactly but they mixed salty cheese, fruits and white chocolate
I studied the menu before I dined as some
Dishes had better reviews than others. Gorgeous setting great views and what we ordered was top notch hence the 5 stars def recommend checking reviews re what to and not to order. The duck and lamb were amazing.
Love the ambience, simple deco but delicate, comfortable and very contemporary modern Australian.
The food here was amazing, all the entries were a really good starter to the meal.
Highly recommend the scotch fillet over the Wagyu and the smoked bone marrow !!!
Highly recommend the Murray cod, even for meat lovers.
Please leave room for the desert! It’s out of this world. Would defiantly go back for the

12 micron is a new restaurant located in Sydney's newest locale, Barangaroo, with contemporary food and desserts. When you do come into the restaurant, you are greeted with friendly faces and are explained the story of 12 micron. The aim of 12 micron is to marry all the elements on Earth into one space, in a fluid manner, and celebrate Australian flavours and ingredients in their menus. Now though we only came to try the desserts, trust me I will be going back to try their full menu.
12 micron did not disappoint. From entree to dessert, the dishes were superb. I would recommend getting the steak tasting platter. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The dessert was a work of art.
Had the duck breast for lunch on Friday the 9th, and it was done to perfection, because it was still a bit pink inside and it just melted in the mouth
Honestly the best dessert tasting menu I’ve ever had in Sydney! The views from the restaurant is also 10/10. It was a bit hard to find the lift going to the entrance of the restaurant but its worth it
I love food that is backed by a strong concept. Earthy rustic smoke-wood native Australian concept was well executed through the decor, plates, cutlery and the food. Standout for me was definitely the duck and pork belly. Albeit a little salty but that can be forgiven for being so flavoursome.
Wonderful ambience and the views of Barangaroo were stunning. The menu was a delight, and the desserts especially were the highlight for me - the mango and macadamia dish was the star.
Had a great meal with friends at 12 Micron last night - fantastic service and lively wine.
We had the group set menu which gave a choice of 3 dishes. The entree sashimi tuna was unbelievable, my main lamb was one of the best lamb dishes I’ve had and those who had the barramundi gave the chef a standing ovation!
Tip don’t order the cheese dessert if you’re not a sweet tooth as it’s baked cheese with honeycomb and chocolate mousse - a very nasty sweet flavour combo when I was wanting a savoury and very basic cheese platter. Four out of four thought it was horrible. I suggest the chef removes it, or describes it differently so we knew what to expect.

Brilliant ambiance and diverse menu worthy of the price tag.
The menu has it all; Japanese inspired sashimi, korean pickles, Asian crispy pork belly, melting steak, and interesting coconut dessert. Expect to be surprised and more importantly full at the end.
The other highlight was certainly the sofa seating and nice views of Barrangaroo harbor.
Highly recommend the lunch special - choice of entree, main, and dessert as well as complimentary bread 🥖 and glass of wine 🍷
I tried the pork belly, sirloin steak, and mango dessert - every dish was delicious and I highly recommend trying out this place !
When I was growing up desserts were a rare occurrence at our dinner table. Whilst we ate an amazing variety of savoury dishes pretty much every single weekend homemade sweet treats were incredibly infrequent. Mum didn’t have much of a sweet tooth and Dad would regularly, and admittedly somewhat fairly, point out that eating pudding after a meal was “sheer gluttony”, an unnecessary excess of empty calories that you just don’t need.
Look there's some old and some new but honestly while people say come here for the dessert truthfully it's the mains that honestly will make you stay!
Beautiful lamb and Duck paired very well native Australian flora to make some unbelievable sauces...sometimes there's no need to be too fancy :)
A highly anticipated visit, 12-Micron had been on my list ever since they opened. The entrance was a little hard to find being on the second floor of an office building. The space was really big and a moody yet chill vibe (the lighting was a bit annoying fading in & out). Some interesting combo on the menu and unusual ingredients. I stuck to a more classic scotch fillet with hand cut chips. The meat was cooked well and nicely seasoned with a thick gravy jus, the chips were the perfect crossover of chunky chips & roast potatoes. My friends were a bit more adventurous tried the pork jowl, duck, lamb neck & Moreton bay Bug were all pretty happy with their meals. For desserts we shared the s'more and a peanut butter creation. Personally I loved the s'more, it looked like a dish from Mars and had a complex mix of flavours & textures. My friends preferred the peanut butter which was made into a fudge creamy mouse served with a toasted ice cream. Overall I enjoyed the meal, it was a Mixed of the unexpected and familiar, price was reasonable. The only negative was that service was a bit slow.
Well, my friends said it was amazing. I have to say yes it is good. But I am personally not that into western modern cuisine. So I think is ok.
But I have to say! The desserts are great and are real art. The surrounding and atmosphere are excellent. The room and space are large and the open kitchen with beautiful sea view boost the whole feeling when you are eating.
Lovely friends and lovely restaurant.
Make sure you look up the directions before heading to 12-Micron as it’s a bit tricky to find. Make your way past all the restaurants on the water and find your way to the entrance and hop in the lift and you’ll find your way into this enormous venue. It occupies a whole level of this Barrangaroo tower.
A stunning venue for Rebecca’s birthday dinner! We had the five course tasting menu which was full of new flavour combinations. We could’ve had the seven courses including two desserts but we weren’t keen on the liquorice dessert so we decided to choose our own ones after. It was a really interesting and exciting dinner, perfect if you like surprises! The staff are so lovely and helpful as well – we can’t wait to return to 12 Micron for another relaxing and memorable experience.
Awesome food, lovely service, great desserts and
all these with a beautiful view. One of those places where you will keep coming back for more.
I had a reservation for me and my partner. We ordered the 7 course dessert menu. We sat just in front of the chef while they made our dessert. It’s amazing to see how much love goes in to each plate before it leaves the kitchen. It’s a bit pricey but it is worth it and I highly recommend anyone who have a sweet tooth to pay a visit.
Did not try any of their food menus, but I’m sure they are as amazing as the dessert.
12 Micron is a very special place in so many ways! The service is warm and friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, yet elegant, and the food takes on it’s own identity, like nothing you’ve ever experienced before! Ordered five dishes to share, followed by two desserts. Dishes included: *Kingfish, fennel, jalapeño, finger lime,*Moreton Bay Bug, king prawn, shellfish emulsion,*Pork jowl, black pudding, riberries, chestnut *Lamb neck, potato, broad beans*Tomato, stracciatella, pepper-berry. Desserts:*Pyengana cheddar, milk chocolate, plum, honeycomb,*Chocolate, passionfruit, rainforest lime, muntires. All dishes were so delicious, carefully considered, beautifully presented and focused on using true local produce and flavours! From earth, ocean, land and air you leave feeling like you have experienced the best that Australia has to offer!
Design of 12 Micron was beautiful. Dined on a Saturday night and was extremely quiet (almost empty) for its time - really not what we were expecting.
Had the dessert menu - each. Maybe that wasn’t the greatest idea but good company means good food. The only thing I could fault was by the time I had my final dish, it was way too heavy for me to finish. Would love to visit again to try the dinner menu.
I’d already been forewarned by friends the food was fantastic, and dessert was a hit-or-miss. I have to agree fully.
A huge gripe I have is the portion size for the desserts. Even though it was a tasting menu, not the full a-la-carte size, I could’ve easily fit the whole contents of the plate/bowl on a dessert-sized spoon and had it in a mouthful. For the price that’s just disappointing. As sad as I am to say it, I’m glad we didn’t do the 7 courses.
Apart from the sweets defeat, I enjoyed the relaxed vibe saturating the gorgeous views and customer service. We were approached multiple times by waitstaff who checked if everything was okay (especially because we were so engrossed in conversation we were taking forever getting through the food) and they were attentive in their service.
Love the interior and the seatings in this place, service is great and although this place specialises in dessert their main was an absolute delight ☺️ Bay bug • Rainforest • Peanut Butter Rosella • Cheddar Mousee •Earl Grey• Carrot Cake (not in order) 😆
main favourite was the seared duck , it was crispy from the outside but inside was beautifully cooked ,
Ps: menu might change seasonally!
Great ambience and beautiful decor. We ordered the specials of the day which was the steak and kingfish which tasted amazing. We also ordered the 7 course tasting menu which looked beautiful but not all the dishes tasted very good. I have to say only 4 of the 7 tasted nice with my favourite being the Carrot Cake and my least favourite, Rainforest. Would come back again to try more of the savoury foods!
Amazing atmosphere and an exceptional menu. This restaurant is quite spacious in the heart of Barangaroo, the vibe is very relaxed and is a perfect location for catching up with your friends or celebrating a dinner party.
We ordered a few dishes from the a la carte menu, and honestly all were delicious! The stand out for me was the pork jowl and the duck breast, the flavour combination worked so well together and it was cooked perfectly.
We also ordered one of their dessert, peanut rosella - which again was perfect!
Would definitely return to try their whole dessert menu as they do offer sets menus for their dessert.
My old high school Meenal had a birthday and we decided to head to 12-Micron located in Barangaroo to celebrate midweek. It's not quite on the water so you need to find the right entrance, up the lift. . As I walk in, I see a sleek and modern bar area and then the dining area where there are dimly lit tables and booths. The kitchen is to the left and is brightly lit up. I look into the kitchen hoping to see Justin Wise who is their executive chef but I can't see him. I have high expectations as 12-Micron is a two hatted restaurant. Great views and for the most part, the dishes were very nice despite being small servings that left you slightly hungry after a 3 course set menu. I chose the kingfish, lamb & peanut butter mousse desert with the kingfish the stand out. On the whole I felt the menu was limited and the servings slightly small. Service was good. Glad work payed.
Been here twice, it is definitely better on a week day, less people, the staff are more attentive and you most likely won't be seated at the bar (unless you enjoy watching the chefs make the desserts). The staff were professional and the restaurant had a relaxed, sophisticated vibe. We ordered four desserts off the a la carte menu with mixed responses, the lemon tart was a personal favourite. Overall worthwhile at that price point for a decent high end dessert bar with good views. Suitable for large groups too.
The Streets of Barangaroo dining precint is one of my favourite places in the Sydney CBD area. You got places like Ume Burger, Short Stop Donuts, Belle's and more. One of the latest additions to the precint is 12-Micron. This new Australian contemporary restaurant is produce driven with ethos of supporting local Australian produce. Their crockery were also sourced from local potters. So much like the beauty of a 12-Micron wool fibre, the interior is refined and elegant. From fitting to crockery and food, you can see inspiration drawn from Australian elements of earth, ocean, land and air.
Came here for my bithday with friends and we all loved the place, the location is pretty good (Barangaroo) but as I'm a sweet tooth we came here for dessert only. We were all very happy with our chices specially me since I ordered a 3 dessert tasting plate but as we told the waiter it was my birday he brought me 3 full size desserts! So in summary delicious desserts, great service and awesome location... So what are you waiting for?
Shoutout to the awesome waiter who studies design and helped us with the layout for us to take insta pics! We were looking forward to trying the cherry blossom dessert but they recently updated their dessert menu which is different from their website and zomato.
I will admit it was a little hard to find this place in Barangaroo but once I got up to level 2 (P2) in the lift and sat down at our table which had large clear glass windows that overlooked the wharf, I knew it was going to be a very lovely afternoon.
The service was excellent, everyone we spoke to was lovely. The waiter who attended to us, gave recommendations on what we should order and I appreciated his honesty in that he had only tried 2/7 of the desserts on the menu.
Ordered:
-Pineapple sago
-Rainforest
-Pavlova
-Earl Grey
It was hard picking a favourite out of the 3 desserts as they were all very nice in their own way but I think it would have to be the rainforest and early grey. My least favourite was the pineapple sago, I wasn't a fan of the aerated pineapple juice? on top of the dessert. They were all quite well balanced, with interesting ingredients that were of high quality. Comparable to koi but koi desserts had better techniques and elements but in terms of ambience, 12-Micron takes the cake.
Since it's a new place, everything is so new and the area is also so huge and can seat a lot of people. You can come here for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, desserts, dinner or even cocktails & drinks by their very own bar.
The ambience was so romantic and exquisite. It would be cute for a nice date here, hanging with friends or celebrating a special occasion. The bathroom is also amazing. When you come out of the cubicles, you are surrounded by again clear large windows and the sinks & taps in the middle was a nice touch. I asked my friend if she needed to go to the bathroom and she replied no in which I said you must 👌😂
Located in Barangaroo, the entrance to 12-Micron is actually pretty hard to find (it's on the north side of tower 1). The restaurant is actually very large ranging from window seats of the water to private rooms or where we sat - around the dessert kitchen.
I shared a 7 course dessert degustation...not sure if anyone really needs to try all 7 in one go but YOLO. Each dessert is beautifully crafted with numerous elements but 1 hero ingredient. Top picks would probably be the cherry or rasberry ones.
We went here for the desserts, took the 5 desserts set menu, gin&tonic, coconut, cherry blossom, pistachio and mandarine. We considered every single of them is nice. Our favourite of the night definitely the pistachio. Will come back to try the savoury dishes, but might wait until it gets more reviews. The venue is nice and staffs are very friendly, everyone is greeting us from entrance to our seat 👍🏻
I've to say the service is really great here at 12 Micron. The lady who served us that night was very attentive. The entree quail was one of a kind. The meat is sweet and tender. The main goes really well with a glass of Pinot noir, juicy and just melt in your mouth 😋 last but not least the dessert pistachio Yuzu green tea combination is just so 👌🏻
A new way of having a dessert. Taste is good, unique & beatiful presentation. They do carry a long list of wine.
Yuzu dessert is refreshing & is a must to try 😆
Beautiful food in a lux setting. The restaurant is spread out over a massive space so you're able to have your own cosy, intimate dinner despite how busy it can get. Everything about the venue invites a double take, from its quirky plates to its matte finished furniture.
The mains selection wasn't as extensive as we'd like so we thought we'd get a few more entrees to have a taste of more of the seafood on offer. For a table of two, we ended up going with:
ONE
- Half a dozen of oysters w/ lemon aspen granita and crispy seaweed
- Kingfish w/ jalapenos and fennel*** can't go wrong with kingfish and jalapenos.
- Kangaroo w/ Davidson's plum and capers*** beautiful cooked.
TWO
- Moreton Bay bug w/ prawn, crustacean sauce
THREE
- John Dory w/ mussels and corn
- Duck w/ beetroot and alpine pepper*** duck skin very crispy and duck perfectly cooked.
DESSERT (or Scented as they call it!)
- Explosive Raspberry
- Cherry Blossom
***My favourites of the night. My only gripe with the Moreton Bay bug dish is the portion size but other than that, the crustacean sauce was rich and full of flavour. Probably not a dish to share, just order it for yourself ;-)
12 Micron is an establishment situated in the new dining precinct of Barangaroo, complete with its own dessert bar helmed by Darren Purchese. First thing I noticed about 12 Micron was the enormous, modern space (able to seat more than 220 patrons) with a brilliant harbour view. . We were excited to get to the desserts but decided to have some savoury dishes first before the sugar hit. The menu is focused on Australian produce and we start with the Lobster omelette. It was a classic dish done well, with generous servings of lobster.
I was drawn to this place after reading Broadsheet's article about grabbing dessert at 1am, because this place is one of the only places in Sydney where you will find premium dessert open at this hour. The ambiance is great - highly contemporary, with speckles of Australian flora found around the place. A downside of dining here is the lighting fluctuates too much.
Guysssss - first I'll start with the location. What to expect: gorgeous views of Barangaroo. What not to expect: a crammed restaurant because this place is hella spacious. The verdict on the savoury food - the meat wasn't spectacular (I had the duck), hell I'd say its average at best and not worth it at the price tag. The oysters were really great and fresh and make for a good choice as an entree dish. The potatoes were awesome, they were part sweet part savoury.
My favourite dishes were the desserts. You don't get what it says on the menu - rather, you are served the elements that would remind you of that particular dish. A really great experience.
My purpose came here was for dessert, but i didnt know why i felt like hypnotized to order main course too. So this arvo i got lunch twice 😂 i was ordered something ducky, it's grilled duck with beetroot ($39), i might say it's not the one i like i dont know why, the duck grilled medium well which i never ate before, so it taste funny in my mouth. I also ordered cherry blossom ($17) for dessert. It taste good, i liked the combination texture between soft and crunchy. Price dont lie, i admit this resto has excellent service, waiters so friendly and polite, everytime your orders came to table they'd explain about you about the food.

12 Micron is a lovely new restaurant is a restaurant, bar and dessert bar all in one, located in Barangaroo in the heart of the Sydney CBD. The restaurant is known for its gorgeous dusty pink interior, view of the Sydney Harbour and its dessert bar, with the Darren Purchese of Burch and Purchese behind its dessert creations.
We came here for a weekend lunch and ordered a combination of savoury and sweet dishes...
Best espresso martini EVER!! The salted caramel flavour was smooth and well balanced with the coffee. We shared the roasted white chocolate dessert which was delicious but I'll definitely be ordering my own next time 😁
Amazing food and service. Desserts are delicious and beautiful. I strongly recommend pork jowl for appetizer and john dory fish for main. The staff are also very helpful and friendly. Totally enjoyable experience
A contemporary, sleek restaurant serving up beautiful, creative & modern dishes. With beautiful views of Barangaroo, its easy to relax and enjoy a glass of wine waiting for your food. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious. Service is professional and knowledgeable, although it was a little too slow waiting for the food to come. However overall a very enjoyable experience.
Amazing dessert, better than the mains!
We were a walk in of 5 on a Friday night, after not being able to find a booking at other restaurants, the restaurant was booked (which didn't seem like it really was when we walked in later) so they were able to seat us at the bar to have a la carte. Being the bar, service wasn't so great so we were fighting to get service and attention. Great service when you got it.
They have an extremely extensive wine list.
Great open modern contemporary Scandinavian style space.
We shared a few entrees as appetisers to save room for the desserts. Highly recommend the 64º egg, & scotch steak. The cutlery is awkward like everyone talks about, but you get used to it.
They eventually moved us to the "dessert bar", where you watch the pastry chefs at work... And also be sternly bossed around (think slight Gordon Ramsay). A little awkward when you're having conversations towards them and knowing they can hear them well if you can also hear them being directed!
Disappointed to see the restaurant was actually half empty when it was meant to be "booked out". There were plenty of larger tables free at about 8:30/9pm.
Desserts were without a doubt, the highlight. We had one each but keen to go back for the 7 course dessert degustation. Nothing like you'd expect. You'll just need to go yourself!
Spent $100 each for 5 of us, which included 3 entrees and appetisers, a main each, sides, dessert and also included 2 bottles of wine.
Portions of the mains and especially the entrees are a bit small, highly recommend the desserts especially the Gin and Tonic and the Olive Oil
For those who don't know already, I love my desserts. When there was a tasting menu featuring 7 desserts for dinner, I knew I had to try it. It's part of all the new restaurants in Barangaroo, but 12 Micron is level 3 in a building. It's a bit fancier than your modern Australian restaurant, but a bit laid back and not quite fine dining. They have heaps of windows throughout, so I can imagine day time views are decent, just don't really see the Harbour Bridge unlike all those top restaurants on Circular Quay side.
I only came here one night very late for late cocktail and throughly enjoyed it! Very intimate and cosy I would say. The interior design and decor is modern and sleek. The views also make this place very special. My friend ordered the salted caramel espresso martini, which tasted like a salted caramel milkshare. Delicious!
Fantastic new restaurant. A concept I haven't seen done before, incorporating a beautiful bar overlooking the waters, restaurant and separate dessert kitchen!
We had the rotisserie duck and steak with paperbark veggies on the side. All were delicious - the duck in particular was a highlight. Unfortunately we were too full for desserts, but will definitely be back to try!
Beautiful restaurant with amazing views of Barangaroo. The food is delicious and the environment is very chilled. The space with you so it's great for large groups. I highly recommend the seven course tasting menu for dessert. Just make sure not to eat a big meal beforehand.
Hankering for a sweet treat at 10.30pm on a Thursday night and wanted to try out 12 micron. Really lucky they were still open! Sat at the dessert bar and loved how the pastry chefs craft your dessert in front of you. I ordered the coconut dessert and while the description is simple, it was anything but. There were a lot of elements and I enjoyed how there were hidden gems within. Felt a little guilty turning up just before closing but the staff were welcoming and attentive. They very knowledgeable and the head pastry chef even took the time to have a brief chat, making the experience really memorable.
