Very impressed with the food and service here. Best pub around the locality.
Recommended dishes are the $13 rump steak, chicken schnitzel, and seafood pasta.

Note: I'm only reviewing the pub here, I haven't eaten at the restaurant.

What can I say...a night out at Maloney's gave me flashbacks to a fond memory around 3 months ago when I was in Brazil. I was in a small town called Paraty, at a club not unlike Maloney's. The drinks were of course completely different and it was much smaller, but what I really went away from that night thinking about was the culture; such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where everyone dances with each other, be it friends or strangers. That night left an impact on me as it became quite apparent when returning to Sydney how rare this kind of culture is in Australia.

With that being said, I have now (finally) found a rare case of a pub in Sydney that embraces this very culture; Maloney's. Unsurprisingly, this is owed to it's popularity amongst Latinos/Brazilians who breathe life into an otherwise run-of-the-mill pub. You can go with your friends, and you can dance with them if you like, but you'll find plenty of lone diggers (friendly and attractive Latino/Brazilian lone diggers, might I add) who are ready to dance with you with absolutely zero shame. This is what I miss of Brazil; people who are ready to embrace you with open arms, eager to just have some fun. At Maloney's however, you'll find exactly that.

There's a few pubs and quite a few places to eat around World Square. When I'm hankering for a pub meal with an alcohol beverage, I seem to end up at Maloney's which is right across from World Square. I order the chicken parma ($15.95, top photo and below) which comes with salad and sits on a bed of chips. The chicken is a bit crispy but brings the cheese and napoletana sauce together. I recommend this dish.

Do yourself a favour and head to Maloneys!. What a charming pub this is! Spent a weekend in Sydney and headed over to maloney's for a pub dinner.
LOTS of beer to choose from!
When James Squire is on tap its a good pub in my books but when my mum ordered the Grilled John Dory Fillet and I had a taste it made it a GREAT pub! Best fish ever!
I had a Maloney's combo pizza which was also very good - perfect combination of flavours!
We will be back no doubt!

Just had the best chicken schnitzel I've ever had. Although I'm getting a little old for some of the Friday night music, the vibe was good, the staff friendly and the place is clean. I came here by chance and I will be back again soon even though it is about an hour for me to drive there.

Wanted: live musicians. ASAP.. The old Maloney's hotel, in a damp, smelly basement in George Street, right opposite that dreary monstrous Greater Union cinema barn, was well in contention for Sydney's most appalling pub. So expectations weren't exactly high when we heard the license was transferring to a new place on the corner of Goulburn and Pitt. And it was kind of sad, losing the ancient rabbits warren of daggy second hand record shops, Korean takeaway and barbecue, my favorite cheap haircut joint (shampoo, trim, shoulder massage $15). And the Jazz Garter. Sic transit glorious old Haymarket.

Yet we watched with fascination as a team of fast track tradesman knocked a dozen shops into one cavernous space with reams of dark wood panelling, plump banisters, a handsome marble bar counter, broad honest floorboards and the rest. And now the place is well on the way to looking as if its always been there.

And the food? Well, we've tried it three or four times, and what a pleasant surprise. No meal over twenty bucks, and plenty around the $12-14 mark. Fairly standard choices, but done with style. The chicken breast is on the bone over polenta, with a salsa. The steaks are flame grilled with a range of sauces from red wine jus through to Bernaise. The lamb loin comes with couscous and a date puree. And the bangers and mash in a rich onion gravy make for perfect comfort food if you're in need of a spot.

Add in Guinness served not too cold and in pint glasses, a respectable wine list, and Bolly NV for the odd fiesta, and Maloney's is looking like a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. No surprise to see such a wide cross section of locals in there already, getting into it.

Just one quibble. How do we persuade the owners - and all their fellow publicans - to dispense with the irritating ubiquitous mindless endless loop of neanderthal bass-and-drums not-background-but-foreground 'music' which renders human conversation impossible? Kindly note: we're ALL over it. Time to come good on the pre-opening promise of a live music program, thanks very much.

That being said, a warm welcome to Goulburn Street, Maloney's - keep up the good work and we'll keep coming back!

While they didn't have a specific children's menu we found it a suitable family dining experience with three younger children with pizza and burger options satisfying our younger members of the family. Your regular pub classics you would expect were all on the menu. Very casual dining experience with all food ordered at the bar and collected yourself from the kitchen pass when notified with a beeper worked well. Food was of a good standard and steak was cooked perfectly to order.

Good honest food at excellent prices. If you love great simple pub food then this is the place for you. My wife had the Beef and Guinness Pie which at $17 was fantastic value. I had a 350 gram T Bone Steak with Chips, Salad and Mushroom sauce and at $27 was also fabulous value . A great place to spend having lunch or dinner.
