One of my favourite sushi places! Quality is always a given as well as exceptional service. Highly recommend the tacos and the popcorn shrimp as apetisers, the fresh and crunchy textures compliment each other well. Large menu with lots of variety. I enjoyed the more punchy flavours of the dragon roll whilst my bf loved the freshness and little spicy kick of the kiss of fire roll. Just goes to show that there definitely is something for everyone. Will visit again!!
Japone is one of my favourite sushi places in Sydney! They offer fusion and artistic looking sushi’s, and even baked to fried sushis! Yum!
I’ve realised that customers have complained about the wait time, but Japone makes sushi like art and tastes amazing. I really wouldn’t mind waiting for sushis that are amazing and aren’t overpriced either.
A favourite of many is the sashimi tacos, a fusion of jap and mex made in heaven! Also got baked mussels, which are in their baked special sauce
If you are a fan of aburi sushi, then you will love Japone spicy salmon roll, or spicy tuna roll. My personal favourites here 😍
Also love the golden dragon roll, with tempura prawn sushi topped with their special sauce also having scallop 😍
Been here a larger number of times and food is always up to standard. Fresh, made to order sushi, my favourite is the Crazy Crab (baked sushi) and the Sashimi tacos is a must! Though on my recent visit, there seem to be a new staff and she was quite forgetful and not attentive to customers. She forgot to note down one of our orders, when we asked for a drink she forgot and went to clean tables (mind you the restaurant had only 2 customers at that time) she came back 15 minutes later and asked if we still wanted the Coke. Hopefully service will be better next visit! Will always come back for the food

Nice Food - Long Wait
I went to this restaurant with a friend for a light dinner. We ordered Entrée and Mains.
The food arrived 30 minutes after. The waiters were very very nice and always smiling. One waiter was running to the kitchen when she had nothing in hands so maybe slow service was due to shortage of staff.
Once the food arrived.... WOW! It was quiet good. The food was very nice and very tasty. The presentation was very professional.
Being in Newtown the prices I accepted if they were more away from the city I would think they were overcharging.
Highly recommend this restaurant for catch up with friends or partner only because that is the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Japone Sushi serves extremely fresh produce, an exciting range of entrees and a refreshing fusion of flavours that set it apart from a relatively crowded Japanese food scene.
For me two signature dishes stand out:
- Sashimi Tacos ($12, Cold Entree): Crispy tacos with a filling of silky salmon and tuna brought together by a rich spicy miso sauce and topped with fresh guacamole. It's such a fantastic fusion of flavours and an interesting set of textures that makes for an exciting start to any meal.
- Popcoron Shrimp ($12, Hot Entree): Simple prawn tempura in a crunchy batter, a bit more substantial than the normal tempura batter, tossed in a spicy sauce. While a simple dish indeed, it's the combination of the fresh prawn, crunchy batter and creamy sauce that makes this dish a winner.
Japone Sushi has an extensive entree selection that includes the classics such as edamame, karaage and tempura as well as a bunch of unique creations, especially with the cold entrees.
Chef Yanni Lay brings his extensive culinary experience to this menu and I understand that his New York influences contribute to the fusion element of the dishes served.
I did try out the sushi rolls but they didn't work for me as the take away option meant it was served in a box container that squashed the pieces. Moreover, I must note that the portions were massive and not the most bite size friendly.
If you're looking for a change to the standard sushi options or would like to try out some exciting entrees, Japone Sushi is an excellent spot that can't be ignored.
My hubby and I LOVE this place. Its a fantastic modern Japanese experience, the staff are all friendly and I love sitting on the train and watching the action in the kitchen. My favourite dish is the Sashimi Taco, you also can't go past their Torched Sushi Rolls. Just ridiculously tasty and fresh. They also do a mean Veggie Gyoza, ask for it hot and fresh. Yum Yum Yum.
craving for japanese food while in Kingsford or around? Try Japone Sushi! best best and best sushi rool and bento box during lunch! super recommended
Japone is one of the best Japanese in the inner west I think. We have it delivered frequently which are the photos as shown. The quality doesn't change which is rare. The food is beautifully presented. The spicy popcorn shrimp is a must try, as is the spicy edamame. These guys know what they are doing, in house or delivery, you won't be disappointed.
Awesome sushi! Has basically ruined other sushi places for me. Everything I've ordered has been excellent. Highly recommend the Kingfish Jalapeño, and the Japone Spicy Salmon. Edamame is great too
Absolutely fantastic sushi restaurant that serves unique and innovated Japanese food. They have interesting mix of maki rolls on sushi trains as well highly creative al la carte menu options. Their sashimi quality is top notch, faultless cuts and incredible freshness. I was so impressed with quality of each dish. I especially enjoyed Tuna Tartare and kingfish ceviche roll. They look beautiful and taste was amazing. The only thing I didn't like was the Oyster shooters; it was made with super fresh oysters ( I saw chef opening the oysters) but unfortunately the mix of sweet sake and mirin sort of ruin the flavor of the oyster. My suggestion is make it with dry sake minus the mirin with a slice of lime would make this shot much more palatable.
I don't usually like sushi because of the flavour of the seaweed, but this place is amazing! I tried the Rainbow Roll and Kamakazi and it was delicious. The sauces that they used were amazing and masked the flavour of the seaweed. I'll definitely be back again!!
Amazing sushi. Menu is priced 25% higher than a mainstream option, but food is 50% more amazing.
Good place to enjoy Japanese taste. And I can see wall painting in restaurant. Very nice food and price.
Spicy tuna roll is absolutely fabulous. Great sake. Try the ‘hot and nutty’ sake. Don’t make the mistake of walking past based on first impressions and appearance. The quality is excellent and service is friendly. You have two new regulars!
Best tuna tataki ever - so fresh and great quality!! My partner and I regularly eat here, and love it. The sashimi is also great, we love the rolls, the entrees are imaginative, and fun presentation! Vegetarian and vegan options available. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed...
People: I have to say - THIS PLACE is my favorite sushi place in Sydney so far. When Sushi Train is like the fast food chain of sushi restaurants, Japone is the high end of sushi trains. The food they put on the band is of great quality and the sushi roll creations are original and all worth a try. Some are quite unusual. A must-have starter is the spicy and buttery edamame and the baked scallops are just delicious. I think that the volcano roll is one of the signature rolls (at least in our opinions). Japone also offers a great range of sake (warm, cold and blended variations), Japanese beers and other drinks. The interior is inviting and the chef and his team are very friendly and nice. The meals and drinks are worth their value!!
