Review Bar Ume - Sydney

Miss Deliziosa
Also agree with another reviewer, although the burger itself tasted good the greasy heavy feeling was so overwhelming that I couldn’t finish the burger. They also didn’t add the tomato onto the cheeseburger. The fries & onion rings also have a very oily taste, as though it’s old oil they are using to fry? I couldn’t finish the meal. Even the free edamame was disappointing, overcooked & too salty.

For a burger place the burgers are very underwhelming. We had the fish burger with onion rings. The onion rings were more spectacular than the burger. The burger, it just felt like a sum of ingredients that didn't want to work together. The fish crumb was very crunchy. The fish was fine, but nothing special. The cheese was on the bottom and didn't melt, and fell apart at the edges. The lettuce just didn't really match. Overall nothing wrong, but a corner grease bar burger would have satisfied just as much.

Good burger on the whole. Tasted alright - I was happy with it. Chips were very well seasoned and super delivious. However there were a few issues overall that could have easily been resolved. 1. The burgers were being served for dine in without napkins. I don't think I have or anyone I know has ever consumed an entire burger without needing a napkin. There is a reason there is ALWAYS a napkin in a McDonalds burger bag. 2. Added $1 for extra spicy sauce. You have to understand that only people who REALLY want their burger spicy will go the extra mile of paying this dollar for their burger to be spicy. My surprise then was that this spicy sauce was not spicy. Ridiculous. 3. Should make some effort to recycle all the cardboard. They were going into the bin. 4. On the priciest end of burgers I have seen so far.

A bit underwhelmed with the burgers. The burgers arn’t bad but tasted overly deep-fried, and the sauce and toppings were flavourful. Price wise, not too great with 2 burgers, 2 chips and 2 drinks was $53.. and being asked if we were taking away and dining in.. dining in and then being given food in cardboard boxes was not too pleasant. It’s not the same offerings but I will probably stick with Menya if I want Japanese.

I had the ume burger. Patty was good, succulent. The bread was dry though and sauce a little lacking. Chicken karaage was good, not great, and potato koroke (a special menu) was meh. Overall pretty good for the price and a quick meal. Partner had the ebi burger which was quite good.

We finally tried this popular burger joint for weekend lunch recently after trying to visit its Barangaroo branch few times on weekend but they're always closed. We ordered its name-sake Ume wagyu burger and uniquely Japanese style tonkatsu burger. Both were lovely especially if you like burger, Japanese wagyu beef patty, and tonkatsu or fried pork cutlet. However, I personally prefer the beef burger since the wagyu patty was so juicy and the melted cheese was perfect. The place is small and part of food court style area, albeit expensive one. Prices on the menu are quite high compared to other burger joints, but reasonable compared to prices in other places in the touristy area. Customer services from staff members are reasonable for a burger joint. You can pay with credit cards with no additional surcharge - a big plus for me.

I was expecting and anticipating a lot when hearing about this burger place. Gave it a try over weekend and I think there’s ume burger would be a safe choice compared to the katsu ones. Beef patty was soft and juicy while the bun was toasted to a certain crispiness level. My chicken katsu was big but I didn’t enjoy it as much because the sauce made the burger quite salty. Also ordered reckon crisps (lotus roots) and Japanese coleslaw. Both were average with nothing special about them. Service is quick and staff is nice.
Chi Tang
Ume and satisfying. I had the fish katsu and it was a big delicious fillet. I really enjoyed the whole experience. Side of fries and hot yuzu drink. Everything was piping hot, which was a plus for a cold night at Vivid. Service was notably Japanese; nice and warm.
Daniel
Ume burger is always juicy and you must try the Yuzu Brown sugar soda drink. The mochi desert is beautiful.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING BURGERS, will be back soon!

We didn't realise they were provided until we finished our burgers HAHAHA! 😂 Chips were well seasoned. Drinks were really good - nice and refreshing! Also recommend lightly mixing your drinks before hand! 👌

Our favorite place to go on Bourke Street when we are craving for a burger. We most of the time settle for the Ume burger and we just love it as it is, sometimes with extra bacon. The combination of the patty, the bun and their sauce makes it for a great and tasteful experience.
Worth mentioning as well that the service has always been nice and efficient.

If I ever feel like burgers, Bar Ume is my go-to. The standouts to me and what I believe you absolutely must order, are their burgers, chips and soda.
Their fish burgers are one of the best I’ve ever had. Friends have also had the Ume burger and loved it.
Bar Ume’s hot chips have umami seasoning on them and its flavour is unlike anything I have ever had. Be careful though - they are EXTREMELY addictive. They also have a wide variety of different sauces. If you’re a fan of roe, their spicy cod roe mayo is delicious, as is their Japanese curry mayo. I would highly recommend trying a sauce to dunk your chips in.
They have 3 house made sodas, brown sugar yuzu, passion fruit and ginger, and vanilla strawberry. My personal favourite is the brown sugar yuzu. Next would be the passion fruit and ginger, but in my opinion it’s flavour is just a tad more “syrup-y”. The vanilla and strawberry I personally would not order again however if this flavour combination is up your alley it’s probably worth trying.
I’ve also had the karaage chicken, renkon chips and charred Brussel sprouts - all of which are delicious. So far I have not been disappointed by anything at Bar Ume.
Their service is excellent overall although if I’m being picky staff could be a little more attentive. Walking in for lunch is no issue, and I have come for a late dinner on Saturday with no bookings and seated straight away.

Ordered through UberEats and everything came nice and quick.

Ordered the chicken karaage, chips and edamame as sides. The chicken karaage was so good! As soon as it was gone, I wanted more! The chips were good too, that light seasoning of umami seasoning makes them really moorish. Next time I’d be keen to taste the renkon chips. They look really crispy and nice.

The Bacon Cheese Burger was great too, just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Yummy patties too. The buns sweet but not too sweet just sweet enough and soft.

Great place, totally recommend.

Came across the bar while searching on Zomato and I’m so glad I decided to stop by. Unfortunately, I didn’t try the burgers but their side dishes along with such a wide range of Japanese drinks was a wonderful experience. An izakaya experience at its best, the staff was lovely, interactive and very kind. Would definitely stop by again after a long day in Sydney but super delighted to know that a mini Japan can be found in Sydney too! Keep up the chill vibes guys!

We went to Bar Ume for lunch on a quiet Sunday afternoon, the interior was so relaxing and quiet, some people were having sake tasting out the back, I ordered warm sake, it was delicious and easy to drink, the waiter was very helpful and suggested it based on what i told him, it was spot on. I then had a burger, it was simple and delicious, next time I would ask for less mayo in my burger but other than that it was pretty good, I would go back.

This Japanese inspired bar nails their burgers, snacks and drinks to serve up a great place to chill.

Most burger joints do good burgers in Sydney, but this place is all about the fusion of flavour and taste from both sides of the globe. As you would expect, the bun is perfect and the bacon and fillings are crisp.

My only reservation is the quantity. Assuming you order a burger (with double patties), a snack and beer, I still found myself hoping for more. Wanting to come back for more is probably what they aim for and has achieved.
I'm Batman
Came here tonight and was pleasantly surprised not just from the food but also the drinks, of which I had 2.

Originally I was planning to get the fried chick burg adding their house pickles and request cheese as well, but that changed upon seeing their special which was the teriyaki schezuan fried chicken burg. If you're a Rick and Morty fan, and I am.....it just piqued my interest so I ordered. It also came with the fried chick pieces, a yuzu with brown sugar cola, and x2 umeshu drinks.

Can't really fault anything, what upset me most was the fact that it was served piping hot. Which you can't fault but still. I wanted to inhale the food. The burg had a nice sweet & sour taste and a slight numby schezuan tingle but was balanced enough.

The umeshu was nice, couldn't tell you the name, it's the first 2 I think. I had 2, because I had to.
@KeraBearEats
I've been a regular to Ume Burgers for a year now and I can say for sure that I've both 1) Never had a bad one; and 2) Really love eating them! I've tried every burger, even the ones from the recent Burger Mania popup (07.02.2018), and each and every one is truly special and unique. It is hands down still my favourite burger I have eaten of ALL TIME.

Recommendations: The Ume Burger is a classic, and it's the best. I get it loaded with extra Wagyu Beef sauce, can't get enough of it. It is seriously like burger crack.

BAR UME (on FB as Ume burger) is one of my dining happy places. If bar food is this good in Japan I can not only see owner Kirby Craig’s cause for obsession, I want to move there!! If you haven’t dined here yet make this your first New Year’s resolution for 2018. Japanese Burger Bar Heaven!!!

If you like fish burgers you must come here! The fish burger is amazing. When they have the ebi burger on special, that’s worth a try too. The fries are nice. The katsu burger didn’t pack a lot of flavour. Will come back to try their beef burgers.

I had the ume burger, umami chips and Japanese pickles. The regular chips were the perfect serving size, perfectly cooked (crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, the chips not too skinny or fat) and beautifully seasoned, leaving the best taste in your mouth. The Japanese pickle was a selection of three pickles - onions, seaweed and cabbage. My favorite was the onion, but they were all good. The burger was nice, but not brilliant. The bun and patty were great, the beef perfectly cooked and juicy, the bun golden and fluffy. The trussed tomato was delicious and the Spanish onion was pleasant, but the sauce was too creamy as there was nothing acidic or sweet on the burger to cut through it and the cheese, leaving a one dimensional taste in the mouth. I was glad I had ordered the pickles! And there wasn't enough salt, so it was a tad bland. Nice, but not brilliant like I expected.

Serving size was perfect for me, but might be too small for someone who's got a big appetite.

This is a fun place. While I have to admit that I really did love the old Ume, these are the current trends: casual and easy, and burgers! The burgers are tasty with an Asian twist, and of modest size. I thought they were fine, not mind-blowing, but being able to order some sake alongside the burger, and a side of nasi dengaku (grilled eggplant) is a winner in my books.. On another occasion, I had amazing fries, crispy brussels sprouts, edadame and a LOT of sake courtesy of Sakenet. Fun.

Located on Bourke Street in Surry Hills is the latest venture from Chef Kerby Craig, Bar Ume, a refresh of the former Ume Restaurant. The space is cozy yet stylish; a painted mural of cherry blossoms is splashed across one wall and dozens of bottles of Japanese whisky adorn the open shelves. The menu features primarily Japanese-inspired burgers and sides and there is also an extensive drinks menu so you would be remiss not to sample a whisky. We tried the Mars Maltage Cosmo Whisky on the rocks and, boy, did it pack a wonderful punch.

To start off our meal, we had the fried brussel sprouts with black vinegar dressing and hot chips with umami salt. Brussel sprouts seem to always get a bad rap, but believe me, if you’re not already a fan, you will be converted with the sensational crispy charred-ness combined with the tangy vinegar dressing. It’s hard to go wrong with hot chips but these ones were really elevated with the delicious umami salt. We also snacked on some renkon chips which are slices of lotus root deep-fried and seasoned with seaweed salt. These were absolutely amazing: crunchy, woody, salty, seaweed-y pieces of addictive goodness..

Now, onto the burgers. We tried the ebi prawn burger (which has garnered some fame from featuring at the Barangaroo location and pop-ups) and was pleasantly surprised by how light yet flavourful this was. The pattie consists of a prawn mixture that has been pressed, crumbed and deep-fried, then stacked with slaw between two soft, sweet buns. We also sampled the (double) bacon cheeseburger which comprises of beef pattie, crispy bacon, onion, American cheese, rice vinegar pickles, and Ume’s special sauce. The ingredients are fairly similar to other burgers around town but the Ume sauce is a showstopping difference. It was uniquely tangy and sweet and of course produced that delightful umami sensation.

Bar Ume has become a seriously cool spot for any occasion whether it be casual catch-ups or a special group event as there is a back room available with a private table. There is a huge selection of drinks to enjoy and the food is unlike any bar food you’ll find in Sydney so definitely give it a go if you’re looking for a unique place to spend time with your favourite people.

An absolute must visit. The food at Bar Ume is something really really special. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger and chicken katsu burger (a special) and they were both spectacular. I'm not normally a huge chicken burger fan but my oh my was this amazing. The crunch on chicken was unlike anything I've ever tried and all the flavour combinations were spot on. The beef burger is one of the most well executed, well constructed burgers I've had with every aspect working amazingly together. We also ordered the renkon chips and fried chicken as sides - both are delicious and make perf additions to the burgers (especially that fried chicken - definitely don't skip on this!). For dessert we tried the tiramisu mochi balls which were a fun lil treat that rounded out the meal perfectly. ALSO if you have a sweet tooth definitely try the in-house made sodas!!

Had such a lovely evening at this awesome restaurant and highly recommend it to everyone. The food was tasty and very unique with a selection of fantastic small dishes to have on the side with your main meal. The Brussel sprouts were sensational and absolutely loved the renkon chips. I honestly thought the burgers were delicious, as they were fresh and extra tasty with magnificent soft buns. The service was outstanding, warm and friendly 😊. All in all a wonderful experience 👍
Awesome Sydney Ramen Girl
One of my favourite burgers in Sydney. Nothing short of an exceptional buyer experience.

Karage and the different sauces were also impressive!

Burgers are indeed a focal point and drawcard at Bar Ume but the side dishes are absolutely worth a try too. While you ponder your choice of burger bite into some Blanched green beans with a salty sweet black sesame miso dressing and snow crackers. This sauce and these tiny crunchy spheres make it very fun to eat vegetables with.
Postcards From Peta
I was invited from Wasa Media to check out Bar Ume, it was already on my list to go check out so i love when this happens - thanks Vanessa! Rita from Bar Ume looked after us, her recommendations were fabulous and you can tell all staff at Bar Ume are passionate about their menu and everything on it!

I popped into Bar Ume in Surry Hills on a Sunday afternoon and easily got a seat. I've been looking forward to trying one of their burgers. The menu includes burgers, Japanese food specials, sides and a range of drinks from the bar. I order the Ume burger that has a Beef pattie, Wagyu mince sauce, onion, tomato, Mayo and cheese. The meat was perfectly cooked and the burger was juicy with a perfect balance of flavours. The bun wasn't too thick and complimented the meat and other ingredients. I would rate this as one of the top 3 burgers in Sydney and can't looking forward to trying the Fish Katsu burger next time. The venue is more than a burger joint and definitely a place to go for a drinks and food.

This place has a really cool vibe & and super friendly staff! They take the cake for the best playlist ;)

The food here is next level! We tried 3 of their burgers, and a few sides.

We started with the Sashimi plate. It was so fresh and melted in our mouths. The sauce it was served on married so perfectly with the Salmon.

Our favourites were the 3 burgers. The Ume Burger had an amazing wagyu mince sauce, which had a unique flavour, and we loved it! The Katsu Chicken Burger was crunchy, juicy and so moorish. The Fish Burger was the most amazing fish burger we've ever had - no words!

The Renkon Chips and Chips with Umami Salt are definitely not to be missed!

Can't wait to come back :)

I have been meaning to drop into Bar Ume for a while now and finally got the chance. I went with the double ume burger, double bacon cheese burger, koji fried chicken, Otsumami & hot chips with ume salt. These guys do solid burgers and fried chicken, I was really impressed! Their Nori mayo and ume salted chips together is delicious. They also have a great range of warm and cold sakes and Japanese whiskies. I’ll be back soon.

Bianca: My only experience with Bar Ume and chef and owner Kirby Craig was a burger shared three ways from one of his 2015 pop-ups. Suffice to say I was intrigued. Lining up for food has never been my style so I always held off and with the closure of Ume and a rebranding and menu overhaul. Bar Ume, rose from the ashes – a watering hole with fantastic burgers and snacks. Fine dining is out folks, cheap and cheerful casual dining is really where it’s at.

Came for lunch on a Friday afternoon and it was empty. Food was good. Service was good (which was expected since there wasn't anyone else there). Nearly missed it when we were walking as there isn't too much around so we didn't expect it to be where it was.

My friend and I shared the Ebi burger, Ume burger, Renkon chips and Korean Fried Chicken. I liked the Ebi burger more than the Ume burger since it was a prawn katsu pattie but the Ume Burger was still good with a beef pattie. Just depends on personal preference. Burgers aren't massive and I can actually take a bite without getting messy and not regretting it afterwards. The Korean Fried Chicken is a must! Nice and moist and I just couldn't stop eating them even after I was full.

Overall, I would come here again to get the Ebi burger with a few drinks.
Jade Buys Lemons
Headed into Bar Ume one weekday afternoon for lunch with a couple of friends. The place was busy, but we didn't have to wait for a table.

We ordered the Ebi burger, Ume Burger, Bacon Cheeseburger, Koji Fried Chicken, Edamame, Renkon Chips and Brocolini with brown butter, shichimi and house made karasumi. We all ordered a house made soda each, forget the exact flavours but these were all quite popular.

The burgers were quite enjoyable, I found the ebi burger tasty but not amazing. The cabbage complemented the prawn katsu patty but I found it to be a rather generic type of prawn burger. The bacon cheeseburger was the favourite for all 3 of us, you really cannot go wrong with cheese and bacon, right?
I also have to mention that Bar Ume's buns are pretty great. The buns weren't soggy and have a good texture to complement all the burger fillings.

Koji Fried Chicken was pretty decent, chicken was moist yet had a light crunch and the mayo worked with it very well. The edamame and renkon chips were nothing out of the ordinary, done pretty well.

The brocolini was cooked perfectly. The addition of the shichimi karasumi gave it the extra exciting texture and the flavour was pretty darn good stuff.

Overall, Bar Ume was a pleasant meal. I found it a tad expensive, but it is in Surry Hills. I was not exactly blown away by all the dishes, but I still enjoyed it. Would recommend if you want a decent little bite with your drinks with a few mates.

Popped into Ume Burger for dinner as I have been wanting to try it for ages. Unfortunately was incredibly disappointed - my Ebi burger patty was completely flavourless (and really dry), and had huge chunks of gherkin in the sauce which was the only thing I could taste. We were the only diners in the restaurant (it was a Monday but only around 7:30pm) and the smell of the kitchen was quite strong and off putting.

We also realised after looking at the receipt when we were in the car, that we had been charged $5 each for a soft drink, which was literally half a can of drink (my partner watched the waitress pour the drinks and put the half empty cans behind the counter). That just added insult to injury.

Overall very disappointing, which was a shame as I loved Bar Ume! Hopefully they were just having an off night but I would be hesitant to return.

It was an awesome burger, nuff said. I ordered the Ume burger, and ended up sharing bits of the ebi burger and bacon cheese burger with my friends, because why not!

Ume burger is consisted of the nice, juicy wagyu and the taste of the milky sweet bun has me singing praises. Not too fond of the bacon cheese due to the mustard (i think it's mustard) but the ebi burger is top notch, though a tad too salty for me.

Nice ambiance, good looking collection of alcohols too!
Eat Pasta
I'm very upset with this bar. With all the credentials of the chef, why do they use frozen food in the burger? Ebi(prawn) of Ebi burger is a frozen prawn cutlet out of packet deep fried. Kakiage burger - where do I start? When I ordered it, what was served a frozen potato croquet fried and sandwiches in a bun. People, potato croquet IS NOT Kakiage. Kakiage is a veritable deep fried fritter. It's not difficult to make. Housewives in Japan make them. Serving potato croquet burger instead of Kakiage without telling me was very cunning. Also when I pointed that out, the waitress said that, Kakiage ran out so used potato croquet instead. If they ran out of them, that means they are using frozen Kakiage. So there you go, except for Ume burger, what's in the burger is all frozen food deep fried and pretend that a "chef" Thought it through. Shame on you!!!
Girls Gone Hangry
I am so glad that Craig has retained popular items from his pop-ups!!

What I ordered
1. Signature Ume Burger
2. Chicken karage
They were good but the chicken karage had a strange after taste, not sure if it had something to do with the oil
Adam Stenlake
Burgers are soooooo good! I could eat those chips for days.. loved some of the original Ume dishes back on the menu too! Pour me another whiskey!
JL
Were able to walk in on a Thursday night and get a table for 2 straight away. Service was friendly and efficient. Ume Burger was a standout - moist and beautifully seasoned. I was really disappointed with the bacon cheeseburger though, I found it really dry and a bit bland. It would not stop me coming back but I would probably not order this again. We also really enjoyed the Renkon chips as an alternative to fries and could have devoured our weights worth of the Karaage. Overall - I think this is a really great twist on your regular burger joint and I would definitely visit again.

What used to be a one hatted Japanese Restaurant ; Ume Restaurant by Kerby Craig has since transitioned to a quietly wonderful Japanese Burger joint. Ume Burgers are some of our favourites in Sydney, taking the whole Sydney burger train with its too-many me toos and flipping that on its head with its distinctively Japanese spin.
IFat
Chef/owner Kerby Craig already has extensive experience with burgers having run pop ups every now and again that made burger afficianados pop-up in their pants. Bar Ume is the pop-up graduating from its freelance contract into a more prominent role.

The question is, will Bar Ume be paying a prominent role in your life considering all the burger competition in Sydney?

The answer should be yes.
I'm Still Hungry
Kerby Craig’s new vision for the Ume name – it’s certainly living up to the Bar Ume moniker, with an extensive drinks selection (that I did not try but have faith in), bar-centric food, and a wholly casual vibe.

While things are currently looking good, there’s still a bit of a ways to go. The menu is too limited – burgers are great, but they shouldn’t be the alpha and omega of a menu. The list of sides was also a bit on the low side, and the seating felt a bit…tight. But most importantly – I miss the old Ume, and Bar Ume has yet to completely win me over. I hope one day it will!
The Hills Have Fries
As far as 'fancy' burger joints go, this one is a real winner! Not overly priced, and the fusion of Japanese flavours provides you with a unique burger experience, not just your average fried chicken here! The Ume Fries are a MUST - probably the highlight of our meal! Thankgod this little gem is just around the corner :)
Sweetandyummie
Now called Ume burger - it's a Nice restaurant with a romantic soft ambience. Customer service is nice and friendly. Try to get there early because it fills up by 6.30pm. Street parking is quite easy this time of the night. The chip serving seemed small but tasted crunchy. I tasted all 3 burgers on offer and my favourite is the signature ume burger $15 definitely unique in flavour.

'Twas a dark and stormy night; drool was building up and the bottomless pit that is my stomach was yearning for something exceptional.

Cue Bar Ume.

The burgs were juicy akin to the latest celebrity gossip, perhaps even more so.

Vibes were mint and the service fuego.

I wish I knew how to write a review - keep up the good work at Bar Ume!

Quite enjoyed this place, came here on a rainy day and it was nice and snug inside. The ambivance was quite lovely and intimate early on a friday night (we got there just around 6pm) before it got too busy. Ordered the Koji Karaage & Chips on the side alongside the ume burger and double cheese...

Burgahs! Fine dining restaurant Ume Restaurant recently closed in May and have rebranded as Bar Ume with a more izakaya snack focus and a couple of burgs on the menu. Head chef Kerby Craig is well known for his monthly burger popups with queues around the block and I was super keen to finally try them.
Ramen Raff
Their ebi burger ($15) tastes as perfect as it looks. I mean just look at it! It's so beatifully constructed! It consists of prawn katsu, Japanese tartare sauce and shredded cabbage in a soft milk bun. The prawn katsu patty was simply awesome with its golden-crisped crumb coating and perfectly cooked prawns.
Clarebear
Fairly busy for a Sunday night! We waited 15 minutes for a table at around 6.30pm. The menu is mainly burgers, bar food and Japanese spirits! Very interesting to see the list of Japanese Whisky. I ordered the Ume Burger, chips and fried chicken bits to share . The Ume burger was delicious, wagu beef was medium rare, topped with cheese, onions and a meaty beef mince sauce. The chips had 'umami' salt sprinkled all over - everything should have umami salt on it. Super YUM! Will be back to try to Ebi Burger.
Eatsydney
Quality burger bar. Former high end Japanese resto has reopened as a burger bar. The hugely popular burger pop ups transformed this spot with a benefit of being open everyday from 11. There is still a strong Japanese influence on the menu with typical sides such as karrage, deep fried oysters and edemame . There are other main options other than burgers on the menu but only a few. Still, it is possible to have a meal of mostly side dishes and mains, if your not up for it but really it's all about the burgers at this joint. Small but quality wine list with natural wines being the influence. If only I was not trying to eat less burgers as I'd easily go back tomorrow.
Thewhereto
Ume was previously an upmarket Japanese restaurant and they have reopened as a bar with burgers and a few small share plates. Having been to UmE before, we had high expectations. It is the same fit out inside, but fast food with table service. It is more of a bar environment in that you can't book, a wide drink menu, particularly whiskeys, sake and shoshu. The food is mostly burgers and sides such edamame, miso and karage.
It was quite busy, as there has been a lot of hype online and It has only been open 5 days. They weren't quite ready for the rush, and it was a Sunday. We got an empty table but shortly after lots of people came in to wait, phones were ringing off the hook. We found it hard to get a waitresses attention, being flat out not acknowledged a few times. I think inexperienced staff, that need some more training. Despite being frantically doing many things, the situation was saved by the lovely manager who noticed we'd been waiting a while, came and took our order and offered a free drink and apologised profusely. I ordered the Ume cheese Burger; a Wagyu meat pattie, slightly red inside (as the quality meats tend to be), tomato, cheese and mayo. It was nice, and I liked the meat, but I think a more flavoursome sauce would add to the Burger. Decent sized though, particularly the beef patties. My husband ordered the double cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce, onion and their 'special sauce'. This one was delicious but more bacon wouldn't go astray. If I went back, I'd order double bacon. We got the fries with Unami salt which takes me back to my school memories of visiting the local chicken shop, fries covered in chicken salt. They'd sold out of some drinks, we luckily got the last cider. I think in a few weeks once the hype has died down and the waiters have had more experience, it has great potential.
