Ume burger is always juicy and you must try the Yuzu Brown sugar soda drink. The mochi desert is beautiful.

Visited Bar Ume in Surry Hills and I must say... IT IS AMAZING!!! 🤤🤤

Bar provides burger cases on each table to help if you aren't hands on! We didn't realise they were provided until we finished our burgers HAHAHA! 😂 Chips were well seasoned. Drinks were really good - nice and refreshing! Also recommend lightly mixing your drinks before hand! 👌
Our favorite place to go on Bourke Street when we are craving for a burger. We most of the time settle for the Ume burger and we just love it as it is, sometimes with extra bacon. The combination of the patty, the bun and their sauce makes it for a great and tasteful experience.
Worth mentioning as well that the service has always been nice and efficient.

If I ever feel like burgers, Bar Ume is my go-to. The standouts to me and what I believe you absolutely must order, are their burgers, chips and soda.
Their fish burgers are one of the best I’ve ever had. Friends have also had the Ume burger and loved it.
Bar Ume’s hot chips have umami seasoning on them and its flavour is unlike anything I have ever had. Be careful though - they are EXTREMELY addictive. They also have a wide variety of different sauces. If you’re a fan of roe, their spicy cod roe mayo is delicious, as is their Japanese curry mayo. I would highly recommend trying a sauce to dunk your chips in.
They have 3 house made sodas, brown sugar yuzu, passion fruit and ginger, and vanilla strawberry. My personal favourite is the brown sugar yuzu. Next would be the passion fruit and ginger, but in my opinion it’s flavour is just a tad more “syrup-y”. The vanilla and strawberry I personally would not order again however if this flavour combination is up your alley it’s probably worth trying.
I’ve also had the karaage chicken, renkon chips and charred Brussel sprouts - all of which are delicious. So far I have not been disappointed by anything at Bar Ume.
Their service is excellent overall although if I’m being picky staff could be a little more attentive. Walking in for lunch is no issue, and I have come for a late dinner on Saturday with no bookings and seated straight away.

Ordered the chicken karaage, chips and edamame as sides. The chicken karaage was so good! As soon as it was gone, I wanted more! The chips were good too, that light seasoning of umami seasoning makes them really moorish. Next time I’d be keen to taste the renkon chips. They look really crispy and nice.
The Bacon Cheese Burger was great too, just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Yummy patties too. The buns sweet but not too sweet just sweet enough and soft.

Came across the bar while searching on Zomato and I’m so glad I decided to stop by. Unfortunately, I didn’t try the burgers but their side dishes along with such a wide range of Japanese drinks was a wonderful experience. An izakaya experience at its best, the staff was lovely, interactive and very kind. Would definitely stop by again after a long day in Sydney but super delighted to know that a mini Japan can be found in Sydney too! Keep up the chill vibes guys!
We went to Bar Ume for lunch on a quiet Sunday afternoon, the interior was so relaxing and quiet, some people were having sake tasting out the back, I ordered warm sake, it was delicious and easy to drink, the waiter was very helpful and suggested it based on what i told him, it was spot on. I then had a burger, it was simple and delicious, next time I would ask for less mayo in my burger but other than that it was pretty good, I would go back.

This Japanese inspired bar nails their burgers, snacks and drinks to serve up a great place to chill.
Most burger joints do good burgers in Sydney, but this place is all about the fusion of flavour and taste from both sides of the globe. As you would expect, the bun is perfect and the bacon and fillings are crisp.
My only reservation is the quantity. Assuming you order a burger (with double patties), a snack and beer, I still found myself hoping for more. Wanting to come back for more is probably what they aim for and has achieved.
Came here tonight and was pleasantly surprised not just from the food but also the drinks, of which I had 2.
Originally I was planning to get the fried chick burg adding their house pickles and request cheese as well, but that changed upon seeing their special which was the teriyaki schezuan fried chicken burg. If you're a Rick and Morty fan, and I am.....it just piqued my interest so I ordered. It also came with the fried chick pieces, a yuzu with brown sugar cola, and x2 umeshu drinks.
Can't really fault anything, what upset me most was the fact that it was served piping hot. Which you can't fault but still. I wanted to inhale the food. The burg had a nice sweet & sour taste and a slight numby schezuan tingle but was balanced enough.
The umeshu was nice, couldn't tell you the name, it's the first 2 I think. I had 2, because I had to.
I had the ume burger. Patty was good, succulent. The bread was dry though and sauce a little lacking. Chicken karaage was good, not great, and potato koroke (a special menu) was meh. Overall pretty good for the price and a quick meal. Partner had the ebi burger which was quite good.
We finally tried this popular burger joint for weekend lunch recently after trying to visit its Barangaroo branch few times on weekend but they're always closed. We ordered its name-sake Ume wagyu burger and uniquely Japanese style tonkatsu burger. Both were lovely especially if you like burger, Japanese wagyu beef patty, and tonkatsu or fried pork cutlet. However, I personally prefer the beef burger since the wagyu patty was so juicy and the melted cheese was perfect.
The place is small and part of food court style area, albeit expensive one. Prices on the menu are quite high compared to other burger joints, but reasonable compared to prices in other places in the touristy area. Customer services from staff members are reasonable for a burger joint. You can pay with credit cards with no additional surcharge - a big plus for me.
I was expecting and anticipating a lot when hearing about this burger place. Gave it a try over weekend and I think there’s ume burger would be a safe choice compared to the katsu ones. Beef patty was soft and juicy while the bun was toasted to a certain crispiness level. My chicken katsu was big but I didn’t enjoy it as much because the sauce made the burger quite salty. Also ordered reckon crisps (lotus roots) and Japanese coleslaw. Both were average with nothing special about them. Service is quick and staff is nice.
Ume and satisfying. I had the fish katsu and it was a big delicious fillet. I really enjoyed the whole experience.
Side of fries and hot yuzu drink. Everything was piping hot, which was a plus for a cold night at Vivid.
Service was notably Japanese; nice and warm.
