One of my favourite Malaysian restaurants in Sydney - they have a menu with plenty of great choices, decent portion and reasonable price. Their special bean curd dish is my absolute favourite! Also love their curry fish head. And they serve yee sang during Chinese New Year. Definitely would keep be coming back!

The roti was a bit soggy but still alright and a single piece is price well for a snack. The rendang was interesting. Pretty tender beef in a sea of sauce with an unusual (maybe peanut-based) flavour and some slow burn spiciness. Rather expensive though and I prefer other Malay places.

We ordered the char kway tiauw, nasi lemak and tahu bakar sumbat for lunch. We didn't have to wait for long to get them ready on our table. The portions were just right, the dishes were well cooked, the price was very reasonable and totally worth the value. Arguably one of the best Malaysian restaurant I visited in Sydney.

I like this place, you can feel like at home. The staff is very friendly, very nice service. But the food is amazing, authentic Malaysian, really good flavour and taste specially the soups. Very good relation price / quantity / quality. Big dishes. BYO alcohol available. I recommend this place 100%

This place is great for delicious and authentic Malaysian food. We ordered a few vegan dishes (tofu and vegetables, spring rolls and also fried tofu) and my friends ordered laksa and another dish. The waitress was super friendly and patient with us. BYO was only $1/pp which was cheap.

Hands down best value and tasting nasi lemak I’ve ever had. So rich and creamy with a somewhat buttery flavour, and a generous portion of juicy curry chicken. Extremely memorable experience, we will definitely be back to try the other mouthwatering delights on the menu.

Delicious food, good service , simple place but definitely worth it.
The Nasi Lomek was very nice (both vegetarian and chicken).
We took the Sago pudding was a solid dessert as well.

Delicious, hot and prompt service. Simple honest Malaysian food that is welcomed amongst a host of asian food in Sydney. Perhaps some chilli to spice things up and it will be absolutely perfect. Fairly priced at $28.50 for roti (packet), nasi lemak and char kueh teow.

Happy Chinese New Year! My favorite part is being able to have the prosperity salad! The one here is really nice. $68 for 6-8 people. The other dishes I liked were the beef rendang (awesome sauce!) and the vegetables with XO sauce. I find it's nicer to order shared dishes than the individual rice or noodles dishes. Yum!

The place doesn't look very distinctive from the outside except for the stream of people coming in & out of it. Inside is not a big space & the furnishing, decor & posters looked like they have been there for at least a couple of decades. It was busy inside & I got the last table. However the Char Kuay Teow was delicious, not overly salty nor oily, a good balance of flavours. Only thing missing in it was the Chinese sausage. service was somewhat indifferent, and food took a while, but probably still one of the better Malaysian cafe in Sydney.

Came here for a quick lunch with friends last week, introduced by one of us who adore their home's cuisine. We had hainanese chicken rice, homemade beancurd, and chicken ribs. We were really enjoyed the foods, taste good. Surely will come back next time!

We ordered tomyum soup, hainanese chicken rice, nasi goreng and beef kuay teow. The hainanese was a bit cold so did not taste that good, but rest was tasty. Tom yum was a bit spicy. Its very close to power house Museum, and if you want asian food this is  good place for lunch.

Lovely small little store. The service was quite friendly. Ordered the rendang which was spot on! Also make sure you ask for a pot of rice instead of a small portion as that way you can share with the whole table! Make sure to try their shaved ice desserts!

The rendang is a must have! It has a lovely aroma and is combined well with a lemon grass flavour that you all will enjoy! It is best enjoyed with plain steamed rice!

Tried their new popular dish, special homemade beancurd with some stir fried minced pork on top and veggies aka soya tofu. Really tasty with reasonable price. The tofu is crispy outside and silky soft on the inside, it was made by the chef fresh!! Economical meal with rice to go and share with a few friends.

Heard all the good things about this place, like amazing Hainan chicken rice. Short scroll from
The powerhouse museum and TAFE ultimo, this place offers traditional Malaysian food. Simple settings + small shop, this place does give you the feeling of sitting in an old fashion Asian cafe/restaurant. We ordered har mee, char Kwai teow and a hainan chicken rice. Honestly, I wasn't very impressed with the hainan chicken, being a fan of it, I have tasted lots of better ones, har mee was very yummy tho, concentrated broth with outstanding flavours. We ordered a sambal sauce to go with the dishes and it was very tasty!

First time eating here. Although the setting was really simple, it felt a lot like the normal hawker store in Malaysia. We ordered the hainanese chicken rice, char kuey tiaw, and hokkien noodles. Requested for the sambal to go with a normal hokkien noodles. You will have to pay 1 dollar for it, but, the sambal was really good!! The cendol was yum 😋😋😋

A busy no frills cafe serving quality Malaysian food. For some reason I always seem to be in the mood for comfort food when I come here, which translates to gado gado, chicken satay or nasi goreng. Always enjoyable.

The chicken satay and chicken curry here was amazing. The satay sauce had a great balance of ginger and peanuts, and the curry was a richy, creamy coconut based affair. I'd love to go back to try the rendang curry. Great option for a cheap, filling lunch!

The verdict, I think Kopitiam did quite well, but could further improve by reducing the amount of fish balls in the Char Kuay Teow, the palm sugar in the Ice Kacang, and the ice in the Teh Tarik.

In spite of, or perhaps because of, the queues at Mamak , I still prefer to head to Kopitiam anytime I need a Malaysian fix. It's poky, small and simple in furnishings but that's partly why I like it so much. There's no spectacle of roti production in the front window like Mamak, but a serve of roti and curry sauce is a steal at $3.50. And whilst the Malaysian flat bread isn't as soft or flaky as that Mamak or Cafe Kasturi , it's hearty enough to quell our growling stomachs whilst we wait for our mains to arrive. Hokkien noodles $9.00 Saffron noodles fried with seafood, chicken and vegetables in a sweet soy sauce Hokkien noodles glisten with the burnished glaze of kecap manis sweet soy sauce. In contrast, the nasi goreng looks decidedly healthy, a mound of rice mixed through with chicken, eggs, prawns, carrots and peas. Nasi goreng $9.00 Malaysian-style fried rice with spicy prawns, vegetables, seafood, chicken and egg served with prawn crackers Char k

The sign in the window at Sydney Kopitiam Cafe says "Malaysian Hawker Style Cuisine" and that it does, with prices to match. It's Chinese Malaysian, it's cheap and it's good. We've eaten at Kopitiam Cafe a couple of times and plan to make a few more visit

...Nasi Lemak comes in a large serving with a delicious chicken curry as an accompaniment to the usual coconut rice, peanuts, anchovies, hard boiled egg and cucumber. It’s a bargain for such a huge amount of food!

The hainanese chicken looked really good, swimming in a shallow pool of soy sauce which was an usual approach to this dish. The meat is skinless and boneless plus very soft and tender.

Great value, great food!. Great value Malaysian food, cheap and cheerful surroundings, friendly, efficient staff.
It will never be a 5 star restaurant but that is part of the appeal. Closest I have experienced to the Kopitiam's of Singapore in KL since I moved back to Sydney. The Roti Chennai and Ice Kacang are the real deal!

Great Food. If you're looking for posh surroundings, linen table cloths and silver service, don't come here. On the other hand, if you are hanging out for a sweet curry or want traditional, delicious Malaysian food, served by nice people at a reasonable price, then this is Tasty Goodness Headquarters for you. Their Chicken Curry and a couple of rotis would be somewhere on my death row menu

This place has stood the test of time. Since 2000 they've been serving up unpretentious, affordable Malay food hawker style.
Nasi Lemak & spicy green beans (belancan buncis) are my favorites! You don't come here for special table service, that's not what its about :-)

Great Hawker Style Food. Fantastic little place & BYO too!!! We've been coming here 3-4 times a year on Saturdays for lunch & it never varies. The Roti Canai with Curry sauce is to die for (so fresh) & we ordered 1 each (didn't want to fight over it [lol]), followed by Sambal Prawns (just perfectly cooked - crisp & crunchy) & a scrumptious Cha Kway Tao. Ideal food for a rainy, windswept afternoon. The place is small (cosy really); lots of students, sometimes some business types & looks like many locals frequent the place for a quick bite. Service is always friendly & prompt. We found out as we were leaving that their Hainanese Chicken Rice is now available for Saturday lunch as well as the rest of the weekend - we'll be having it on our next visit - can't wait!

Love the Claypot Loh Si Fun there. Have not tried yet but was told that the Hainanese Chicken Rice only available during weekends is fantastic.

After all these years I still love the Loh Si Fun here. It's one of the more difficult dishes to find in Australia. Some might say it's too oily but that's how it's cooked and it's so full of flavour.

Small but there is somewhat authentic feel to the place. Food is what you'd expect in a hawker food stall in KL. Not well presented but darn tasty. Recommended for those looking for something more authentic than a sanitized Malaysian food.

Very authentic and traditional Malaysian cuisine with quick and friendly service. We had a range of vegetarian dishes including gado gado, laksa, and omelette and all were very satisfying and delicious. Coconut rice was also amazing. It’s cash only here so keep that in mind. Some dishes were a bit spicy for the kids but we all still really enjoyed it.

Phenomenal. Kopitiam Cafe is a rustic hole-in-the-wall diner and a strong contender for best Malaysian food in the area and possibly all of Sydney. Serving classic hawker style dishes such as Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Nasi Goreng, and Hainan Chicken, Kopitiam Cafe ticks all the right boxes - aged restaurant vibe, family run business, low prices (less than $20 for most menu items), and amazing authentic flavours. There's an old joke - how do you know if an Asian restaurant is good? Must be cash only, family run, and not on TripAdvisor. Kopitiam Cafe is a shining example of this trope - this is not where you'd go for a fancy first date but where you'd go after your fancy first date has left you broke and yearning for genuinely delicious food. We ordered the Hainan Chicken (weekends only), Nasi Lemak, Laksa, and Flat Noodle Vermicelli. Kopitiam Cafe is exceedingly famous for its Hainan Chicken but the stand out dish was definitely the Nasi Lemak - this came with a chicken curry that was simply out of this world. There are instances where Kopitiam Cafe is too busy and will not take drink orders but this really isn't an issue as the 'Cafe' in the name of the establishment is more for style than anything. Seriously - drinks are drinks, you come to Kopitiam Cafe for the food.

I had been wanting to try Kopitiam for the longest time and it was definitely worth the wait. The malay chicken curry, roti, noodle stir fry fish, water spinach, and tea were all excellent, hearty, and well-priced. Plus what’s not to love about BYO with one dollar corkage🍷 :)) We left feeling full but had lots of leftovers which was a treat the next day. Will definitely be back :)) Note: Bring cash as it’s cash only :))

Kopitiam yet another hidden (ok maybe not so hidden) gem in Sydney. An unassuming restaurant which dishes out yummy Malaysian delicacies. It's got a cozy atmosphere which could bring back some memories of south east asia right here in Sydney. The best laksa, char kway teo, chicken curry and roti chanai ever. The restaurant takes cash only. But guess what they also accept bank transfer and Pay ID. :)

My goodness, the roti is definitely top notch. I can't say authenticity of the food but the flavours tasted amazing. I think this gem is a good representation of how SEA food should be delivered. The ambience feels like a local restaurant and homely feel.
