One of my favourite Malaysian restaurants in Sydney - they have a menu with plenty of great choices, decent portion and reasonable price. Their special bean curd dish is my absolute favourite! Also love their curry fish head. And they serve yee sang during Chinese New Year. Definitely would keep be coming back!
The roti was a bit soggy but still alright and a single piece is price well for a snack. The rendang was interesting. Pretty tender beef in a sea of sauce with an unusual (maybe peanut-based) flavour and some slow burn spiciness. Rather expensive though and I prefer other Malay places.
We ordered the char kway tiauw, nasi lemak and tahu bakar sumbat for lunch. We didn't have to wait for long to get them ready on our table. The portions were just right, the dishes were well cooked, the price was very reasonable and totally worth the value. Arguably one of the best Malaysian restaurant I visited in Sydney.
I like this place, you can feel like at home. The staff is very friendly, very nice service. But the food is amazing, authentic Malaysian, really good flavour and taste specially the soups. Very good relation price / quantity / quality. Big dishes. BYO alcohol available. I recommend this place 100%
This place is great for delicious and authentic Malaysian food. We ordered a few vegan dishes (tofu and vegetables, spring rolls and also fried tofu) and my friends ordered laksa and another dish. The waitress was super friendly and patient with us. BYO was only $1/pp which was cheap.
Hands down best value and tasting nasi lemak I’ve ever had. So rich and creamy with a somewhat buttery flavour, and a generous portion of juicy curry chicken. Extremely memorable experience, we will definitely be back to try the other mouthwatering delights on the menu.
Delicious food, good service , simple place but definitely worth it.
The Nasi Lomek was very nice (both vegetarian and chicken).
We took the Sago pudding was a solid dessert as well.
Delicious, hot and prompt service. Simple honest Malaysian food that is welcomed amongst a host of asian food in Sydney. Perhaps some chilli to spice things up and it will be absolutely perfect. Fairly priced at $28.50 for roti (packet), nasi lemak and char kueh teow.
Happy Chinese New Year! My favorite part is being able to have the prosperity salad! The one here is really nice. $68 for 6-8 people. The other dishes I liked were the beef rendang (awesome sauce!) and the vegetables with XO sauce. I find it's nicer to order shared dishes than the individual rice or noodles dishes. Yum!
Love the curry chicken and char kuay teow.. truly taste of Malaysia .... Hainanese Chicken Rice is as authentic as it can home cooked .... looking forward to try their Chinese New Year menu
Very authentic and traditional Malaysian cuisine with quick and friendly service. We had a range of vegetarian dishes including gado gado, laksa, and omelette and all were very satisfying and delicious. Coconut rice was also amazing. It’s cash only here so keep that in mind. Some dishes were a bit spicy for the kids but we all still really enjoyed it.
Phenomenal. Kopitiam Cafe is a rustic hole-in-the-wall diner and a strong contender for best Malaysian food in the area and possibly all of Sydney.
Serving classic hawker style dishes such as Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Nasi Goreng, and Hainan Chicken, Kopitiam Cafe ticks all the right boxes - aged restaurant vibe, family run business, low prices (less than $20 for most menu items), and amazing authentic flavours.
There's an old joke - how do you know if an Asian restaurant is good? Must be cash only, family run, and not on TripAdvisor. Kopitiam Cafe is a shining example of this trope - this is not where you'd go for a fancy first date but where you'd go after your fancy first date has left you broke and yearning for genuinely delicious food.
We ordered the Hainan Chicken (weekends only), Nasi Lemak, Laksa, and Flat Noodle Vermicelli. Kopitiam Cafe is exceedingly famous for its Hainan Chicken but the stand out dish was definitely the Nasi Lemak - this came with a chicken curry that was simply out of this world.
There are instances where Kopitiam Cafe is too busy and will not take drink orders but this really isn't an issue as the 'Cafe' in the name of the establishment is more for style than anything. Seriously - drinks are drinks, you come to Kopitiam Cafe for the food.
Definitely one of the best Malaysian food joints in Sydney, nice staff, great food, Hainan chicken rice is outrageous, highly recommended (only serve on Sat and Sun)...note, street parking is limited
I had been wanting to try Kopitiam for the longest time and it was definitely worth the wait.
The malay chicken curry, roti, noodle stir fry fish, water spinach, and tea were all excellent, hearty, and well-priced. Plus what’s not to love about BYO with one dollar corkage🍷 :))
We left feeling full but had lots of leftovers which was a treat the next day.
Will definitely be back :))
Note: Bring cash as it’s cash only :))

Kopitiam yet another hidden (ok maybe not so hidden) gem in Sydney. An unassuming restaurant which dishes out yummy Malaysian delicacies. It's got a cozy atmosphere which could bring back some memories of south east asia right here in Sydney. The best laksa, char kway teo, chicken curry and roti chanai ever. The restaurant takes cash only. But guess what they also accept bank transfer and Pay ID. :)
1st time here, did not disappoint. Delicious chicken rice, excellent service too. Was lucky to get a table it got busy really quickly.
My goodness, the roti is definitely top notch. I can't say authenticity of the food but the flavours tasted amazing. I think this gem is a good representation of how SEA food should be delivered. The ambience feels like a local restaurant and homely feel.
