Review Yebisu Bar & Grill - Sydney

Tony Roberts
Date/time of visit: 12 May 2022 @ 8:00pm (approx) Dat/time of visit: 17 May 2022 @ 8:20pm (approx) (yes, 2 visits within 5 days) Yebisu Bar & Grill felt like an upmarket izakaya. The decor was modern; the atmosphere was good. It was not dark and dingy (like some izakaya's I've visited in Japan...and Melbourne). The first thing that should be noted is the price of the food. One piece of salmon nigiri would be approximately 3x the price of your average sushi train. However, there is a quality difference. The quality of the salmon nigiri at Yebisu Bar & Grill was excellent, much higher than your average sushi train. It was delicate, and fresh, and had good fattiness (and this isn't the fatty salmon that I'm talking about). My partner prefers the fatty salmon and she was more than happy with the fattiness of the standard salmon (so, we didn't end up ordering the fatty salmon from here). We tried a lot of dishes and were happy with everything. Yes, the price for our first visit did add up - $159 but we had 21 items off the menu with the two most expensive items from that dinner being the Soba Noodle with tempura ($18.80) and Takoyaki beef curry cheese fondue ($14.80). My partner tricked me into getting the takoyaki (because I normally don't this dish elsewhere) and this particular takoyaki had great batter, cooked evenly and was served with a delicious beef curry cheese fondue. I was happy with takoyaki (but it's still not my personal favourite dish for my tastes :-) ). We enjoyed the meal so much that we decided to make a return visit 5 days later, prior to departing Sydney. Other highlights from the menu, for us, were the kranskys; the kushiyaki (my partner preferred the chicken with teriyaki, while my favourite was the chicken with curry salt). Ordering was via iPad device on each table. Service was good; dishes arrived in a timely manner; staff were friendly and some were chatty if asked questions (I asked about the music playing in the background because that was also pleasant and enjoyable and I was hoping to find it available somewhere). Payment by card attracts a surcharge; for our card it was 1.3% which might be a little high in comparison to other venues for that particular card. So, when you visit, just be aware prices are higher than normal. The quality is higher than normal. The price to quality ratio might be a little off; however, based on our two visits, the prices deserve to be higher than your standard izakaya or sushi train. We were happy because it's rare to find such good quality in Australia (next best on the east coast of Australia, that we've found, would be in Launceston, Tasmania) and this was a nice treat during our visit to Sydney.

The food was tied for the best I’ve had in Australia. The barbecued skewers are grilled with tremendous care. (Seriously, just watch the process). The wagyu skewers are amazing.

Lovely spot for dates and small groups, with tablet menus, broad selection of Western / Japanese drinks and foods. Definitely a great drinking and bar food spot to drop as part of the Sydney Nightlife. Decor and ambience well fitting with smooth jazz and care placed in creating a great environment for dining

I believe the kitchen staff has changed. I ate here some time last year and the food was fantastic. However, this time around 80% of the menu had been cut. The old menu which had a gazillion items and is still available online is not a true reflection of the restaurant any more. The quality of food has dropped drastically, but the price has remained the same or even higher. E.g. I had the dragon roll sushi last year, 8 pieces of quality sushi for roughly $19. Today, they charged $17 for 4 pieces of sushi that is comparable to supermarket/fast food sushi. My beloved omelette rice, I will miss you greatly 😢 RIP may we meet again one day. TL;DR - a significant drop in the quality of food with a high price tag, new management/staff (?)
Ms Yang
A total rip off place. and very bad customer service too! They charged me $22 (yes $22!) for 2 tiny little oysters so that is $11 for one oyster! A single piece of sushi (yes 1 piece) set me back $7.70! I literally ate nothing and my bill came to $45.10!!!! AVOID THIS PLACE! Staff are sooooo unfriendly…. It is worse than the food…

Oh wow this place has a strong marketing team. Everything is put together perfectly. This is a very themed izakaya. It's an upstairs affair in the middle of Chinatown. The entrance area is a little bit dingy and there's no reception at all. You just kind of wander into the main restaurant past the barrier with the sterilisers. A lot of Bruce Lee references make it a theme. Everything is painted even the ceiling. A Japanese pub decorated with Bruce Lee, Chinese writing on the wall etc. I guess it's aimed at Chinese tour groups. You can see the management is Chinese. They have a computer system to order from. You choose your items and then they bring it to you without any human interaction. It can be translated into English Chinese and I think Korean? There is a Japanese chef Mr Ueda featured with a special sushi set which is available only on tuesday to thursday. But he was there every day in the Window by the sushi bar, for the customers to look at. There are many categories such as hot pot, sushi, skewers, grill, drinks, dessert, salad. Actually over half the menu categories are types of drinks. It is really targeted to drinking I think. All different types of Japanese alcohol and cocktails. The menu is small for an izakaya. Actually over half the menu categories are types of drinks. For other items, everyone felt there wasn't much choice. Each type of food there's only few things. Eg for our hotpot you could get extra beef or pork. That's it. Not types of beef, but just beef. Or pork. Maybe I'm spoilt with going to authentic Japanese restaurants in Sydney all these years. Most people seem to order a hot pot when we were there. It has a Wagyu beef with the option of marble 8 or 9+. See the photos, I couldn't really tell the difference. A plate was $30 and included 12 pieces. Thinly sliced, 1 per mouthful. Soft, nice, not particularly flavoursome. Maybe it's just the sauce. The veges are very thickly cut, really should have been sliced a few more times. There is also the pork available for you to choose. We had the hotpot the came with vegetables and two sauces. Not a great idea. Actually the tables are not sized for it. Once they put the stove on the table, a few plates of meat and veges, you have no space to wriggle at all.Not really sure about the sources, the sesame one was interesting the other one was like a ponzu I'm not sure actually it went well with the meat. The soup of the hotpot was good, after running a few slabs of wagyu and vegetables through it especially. This place is also famous for the Grill skewers and yakitori. We tried a few different things such as the chicken giblets and beef wrapped around mushrooms and chicken cartilage, another thing is I can't really remember the names of. They're not bad there aren't many places where you can get them and all of those places seem to be in the city anyway. It's had a few sauces but it didn't seem to match greatly. Probably something great to have as a snack with beer not so much as a main meal. Like people say, it's on the pricey side. Seems to be on the tourists side of Chinatown and I guess the price reflects that target market. The hotpot was over 60 and extra meat was 30. Skewers are easy to eat quite a few of! When we went it was quite empty for a weekend. Less than half full. They have a rule that you must vacate the table in 2 hours, and also you may be forced to share a table. Obviously unlikely given current circumstances.

Not the biggest fan of the $17 alcoholic OJ and the food was quite expensive for the portion. Staff were nice and friendly.

Loved dining here!! Such a cosy place and the food is so delicious and flavourful. Staff are so friendly too!!

Guess what??! I think I found my new favourite Japanese bar restaurant! The whole restaurant is just so pretty! Literally taking me back to japan itself! I got to love the eel skewers, egg plant and sashimi.

We can all agree that Japanese food is always a temptation for our food cravings. Especially when in a crowd, deciding WHICH Japanese food you'd want can be stressful or complicated! ⁣
⁣
Between yakitori, ramen, sushi, sukiyaki, rice dishes or fried food such as takoyaki or karaage, there's something for everyone (even the picky) 😁. ⁣

I had the worst experience at yebisu townhall today.

Although I was a big fan of this place. However, I am never gonna go back there.

I went today to dine in there at 9:45 pm. I asked the waiter for a table she said that they closing the kitchen at 10:00 pm. I said I'll order straight away. She looked for a table inside and all the tables had people on them. She wanted to sit me at a big sharing table. So I asked to be sit outside where there was two people dinning and a table that hadn't be cleaned. She said no and that they're closing that section. I said but there is still people there but she refused without giving any further explanation. I then asked to speak to here manager. The manager comes. I asked her for a table outside and she just said no and kept ignoring me !!!!!!!!!! I said this is the worst customer service ever and asked for her name. She said i don't want to give you my name!!!. Very rude girls! I never had as bad experience as this except at this place. SHAMEEE ON THE OWNER WHO EMPLOYESS SUCH PEOPLE.

Highly not recommended. Go there if you would like to be treated bad!!!!

Yebisu is an izakaya style restaurant smack in the middle of Dixon Street Chinatown Sydney. What works? Plenty of atmosphere and unbelievable turnover in crowds including students, working professionals, families, locals and tourists. Staff are extremely busy but happy to spend time explaining and recommending their sake to your personal taste in their slightly broken English. It adds authenticity to the place. There is always a birthday or a few, as there are big beers sent to the table with loud Happy Birthday sung in Japanese and topped with sparklers! What doesn’t work? It’s not posh, but I was t looming for that! My friend and I were so immersed in Fri night conversation, food and sake that we realised we were there in same table and seat for over 5 hours! A record for me!

Visit this place for fun, loud atmosphere and crowd, and decent Japanese food and bevvies.

Yebisu has great ambience, aesthetic and most the dishes are quite reasonably priced for the quantity you receive. It offers a great range of choices on the menu that you will be left staggering in choosing what to eat. There is quite often a line due to the popularity of the restaurant.

I had ordered the Yebisu omelette rice which was very filling and tasty. The crab croquettes were delicious, however the taste of crab was unnoticeable in comparison to the cream.

I had wanted to try the yakitori here as it is one of the restaurant’s specialty. I was very disappointed by the ‘limited edition Wagyu yakitori’ considering it is in limited supply and their ‘special’ dish so to speak. It arrived burnt, over-cooked and chewy. It lacked flavour and was one of the worst wagyu pieces I had eaten.

The wait for another dish (the boneless chicken and a bowl of rice) was well over 30mins after the omurice had arrived. I had already eaten well over half of my own dish before my companion could eat theirs.

The dessert was great and it was my first time trying green tea tiramisu. I would highly recommend this as it is flavourful and has very little to fault. If anything I do wish the consistency of the sponge cake and ice cream was a little softer.

Instagram: @sydneyfoodreviewer

Pork skewer (as shown in first pic) was RAW and dripping blood. Notified staff and was offered a replacement (second pic) which was again RAW. Falling short of health & safety standards is simply inexcusable. I do not trust this place and would NOT come back.

I went to this place twice already. The prices are a little steep but food is good. They have HUGE menu so it was hard to choose. I ordered nearly everything and everything was terrific. I enjoyed the late night opening time because I finish work quite late at night and can still have a good meal. I recommend their chasiu rice or something and kaarage chicken was good too. The photos on the iPad menu is pretty accurate so you can see which suits your fancy.

Authentic Japanese fare in Chinatown. A good option after visiting the Chinese gardens. Their mixed tempura bento box is filling, complete meal with miso soup, salad, and green tea tiramisu for dessert. Gets busy at lunch time.

Such a great place for after work drinks and snacks/dinner, the atmosphere is amazing and I love the wide variety of dishes! The gyozas is a must, it was so juicy that we had to order another serving, I would also definitely get the sushi set again as it was nice and fresh. They have buy 3 kirins and get 1 free, such a good little special! The service is amazing especially from Akiko, initially there was only two of us however a friend came a little later and dragged a chair to the side of our table to sit with us, we went downstairs and came back up to another table parked next to ours just so we had more space, making it way more comfortable for my friend and we didn’t even have to ask!

This is a pretty nice spot for a wide range of Japanese dishes. My favourites were the karage chicken (spicy if you can handle the mild heat), lotus root chips and sukiyaki skewers. The beef tongue and wagyu beef were okay as well. The restaurant gets very busy so make a booking beforehand. The service was a bit slow but the food was great so still had a lovely dinner.
Tanya
Mmm... I like this one better than their sister restaurant yebisu izakaya. Came here for lunch and got their stewed fish set and curry karage bento set. Both were super yummy. Daikon could’ve been cooked for longer but it was a scrumptious meal. Curry was also nice and thick and full of flavour.

We visited on a Friday night and it was super busy! We ordered quite a few dishes including a few dishes from the grill but the proportions is pretty small. My favourite was Grilled Scallop with Sweet Chilli Mayo and Karaage Chicken with Jalapeño Tartar. I didn’t really enjoy the Napolitan Fried Udon Noodles and my cocktail was pretty diluted with barely any taste of alcohol.

Overall I think the dishes are overpriced especially the selection of meat in the grill range.

They are generally okay 👌, but the service is quite slow.

Sushi 🍣 is normal, taste are similar with other sushi 🍣 bars. But the rice part is quite dry and tough. So, should be 2.5/5

Grilled skewers are okay, but hmmmm, too be frank, only a few skewers of the combo are okay, the rest is just so so. 3/5

Little bit disappointed by the small size and super sweet hotpot. 2/5

do love is jumbo tofu salad! Really enjoyed! I like the sauce. Healthy number 1! 5/5

Had a lovely night with Guorium🧪 and his family.
Guorium🧪
I like their yakitori! Very very tasty! Xihuahua 🐶 got scared by the jumbo tofu insalada! Hot pot broth was overly sweet. All in all a good place to eat if you like quiet place, serving speed was a bit slow.

A very Tokyo Osaka style Japanese restaurant! Great atmosphere, nice environment, fresh food and sincere staff! Electronic device on table for self ordering, handy and efficient! Love it!

I began to love japanese grill food just after I tried the yebisu branch at regent place. so me& my friend ordered all the grilled ones. Except the mushroom& chicken hearts we've loved since first time, we also ordered grilled fish & beef tongues, but it turned out they didn't live up to our expectations. grilled fish, maybe they use frozen one, so it tasted too dry and a little bit too salty. the beef tongues, maybe grilled for too long, then they just lost the tenderness they're supposed to have.
Jlovesssfood
Food photos and reviews here look pretty good so I went there for a catchup with my friend. The dinner sets are very overpriced (close to $30 per person) and I opted for a tonkotsu ramen instead. Noodles were thick and chewy but the soup was very thin and didn’t taste like tonkotsu at all. My friend’s omelette rice was too oily and it looked more like western style scrambled eggs. Portions were pretty big but it’s the quality that matters.

Avoid at all costs.
Worst service I have ever experienced, we waited 2 hours for 2 dishes that never came out, we asked about them 6 times and never received them even though tables around us who ordered the same dish got theirs. We were given terrible attitude from wait staff like we were the ones who'd taken the food. And then they were going to make me pay for the food I never received.
Also chicken wasn't cooked properly, small serving for price, if you want good Japanese go to kura kura up the road, much better service and food.
Won't be back even if I was begged and paid to go.

Great place for a after work chill and drink, Japanese bar suitable for anyone to come for a snack. From Sushi to Dumplings to fried goodies you can be sure this place suits everyone.

Over price for the set menu, not give to customers enough portion. We payed for 10people and we just got the same amount like ala carte menu or maybe less than ala carte. This is my 3rt time i went there..
If you wanna improve your Restaurant check the portion with the price... for example we got sashimi’s and the weiters told as 1person 2 slice but why u just give us 1 prawn and other sasgimi 2 sliced at that time we a bit confused how we share the food.

Really excellent Japanese Restaurant around Sydney, This is my second time visiting this place, good atmosphere and clean. I addicted with their aburi salmon sushi, grill salmon mentai, delicious salmon belly and tasty grill salmon fried rice. Give a thumbs to the Chef for making the tasty food, and good customer service. Will come back next time!

Amazing food! This place has an expansive menu ranging from sushi to grilled skewers. Was lucky enough to go when they had a $1 tuna sushi promotion and the tuna was so nice. I like how you can order on the iPad and the food comes out very fast! It’s also quite well priced for each dish, would definitely recommend

Great atmosphere if you’re looking for a fun, exciting night out with a crowd or just a couple of friends for drinks. Staff is friendly, food is served quickly. Sashimi and yakitori is also good quality, love to go there again!

Although the pricing of the food is towards the higher side, but the food is so tasty! It will be even better if they have more food options tho!

It’s very good place to have fine dining, I enjoyed food a lot..... I never had been through that many verities of SUSHI and at last grill chicken was so delicious.

Located in the heart of Sydney’s Chinatown, Yebisu Bar & Grill is an authentic Japanese Restaurant specialising in Izakaya dining, serving a mixture of small plates or tapas-like dishes to be shared. If you’re game, Izakaya is best enjoyed with accompanying drinks like sake or beer which are very popular, otherwise you can always have a non-alcoholic drink to go with your food.
Every table is fitted with a tablet for touch screen ordering. Scroll the menu and when you find the food or drink you want to try, just press the photo to order. There are three main menus on the screen; drinks, lunch, dinner and special offers depending on the time you’re dining.
In summary, top notch Japanese food and service is second to none, you’ll be looked after the moment you arrive and the staff are happy to show you how to navigate the touch screen ordering, which is fast and very efficient, and explain the elements of the dishes that they serve. So why not pop in today and experience an unforgettable and fun Izakaya dining. Kampai!

Felt like some yakitori. I like the concept of using an ipad to order, but to use it to grab tap water? And to wait 5 mins for it? No thanks. Grabbed 2 chicken skin skewers $3.3 a piece and the todays special karaage octopus $9.8. The skewers are very good but needed more crunch. I was disappointed at the size for the octopus. 7 small pieces? I dont know, is seafood that expensive? This place is just so damn expensive. I wanted to grab sushi too but for $5.8 a piece....haha. Maybe because its built a level above so like it costs more to lease. Please, just sit me on ground level and ill have decently priced meals thanks. But, i highly recommend this place for their yakitori, because this is the only eatery that makes yakitori in the haymarket area, besides its counterpart in town hall. Service was fast and really diggin the ambience.

Great place to go in a group for cocktails and Japanese alcohol! Service is very nice and fast and the atmosphere is very welcoming! The best is the grill food you can order through the iPad! The main dishes are also very nice!

Location is great! Situated on level one, overlooks Chinatown bustle below, well-lit open space with fusion of cosy and slightly upscale ambience... the food, however, and the cost of such food, is ridiculous and overpriced. Can barely compete with street stall sushi. Everything is dressed on a platter but once you take away the flowers and patches of salad leaves... you would not believe you are spending 10$ for 5 small pieces of fried chicken. Or 8$ on a piece of meat on a skewer. The wagyu is not wagyu but a very chewy gamey cheap cut of beef and there is absolutely nothing new or innovative about any of these dishes. The sushi was boring; I've tasted better from a 2 for $5 sale. The only redeeming dish would probably be the pork belly skewer, even then... so many other joints that would be more worth your money. Their cocktails were a hit, but the food was horrendously overpriced for no good reason.

The experience just blew my mind!
I wasn’t expected by this good experience, but I was wrong.
Price is slightly more expensive but I’m happy with the food quality.

1. Takoyaki Curry Beef Cheese Fondue... what?
Yes, you should order this dish, it’s a fun, unique and delicious!
2. Octopus and mushroom with escargot butter.
Yes! Love this dish so much! Octopus has been prepare and filled these medium size of button mushrooms and topped with escargot butter, broil and serve to you.
3. Another nice dish , Salmon Skin Nigiri.
These sushi is so pleasant to eat!
4. Salmon Chisuke.
Like this unique soup type, and some more just enough salmon meat from belly/Wing strips, a little fatty I must warn you but when you eat while it’s hot, you don’t have any drama.

The RnB Diary
The pedestrian section of Dixon Street in Chinatown is usually known for souvenir shops and mediocre Chinese restaurants that only gullible tourists frequent. But we were headed there for the newly opened Yebisu Bar & Grill. This is the second outpost of Yebisu, the second-floor open plan dining room is spacious and offers a panoramic view of the street below.
Olivia Yang
This place gets quite busy on a friday night. The ambiance and decor is upbeat and gives off an authentic japanese izakaya feel. They’ve got an extensive selection of cocktails which we tried a few of. Our favourite was the china blue. Food here is very mediocre however, nothing we ate we thought was particularly outstanding. Portions are small (like how izakayas serve them). The ipad ordering system is convenient.
Jun Yan
With very good service especially the sake test, highly recommended. Plus the sitting area is the perfect mix of Japanese style and modern arts.
Hayley
Came to Sake x Sake night, which they served cheap salmon sushi and sashimi, dumplings and booze! Love places where you can order on an iPad! Saving so much time!

The Salmon sashimi was relatively fresh, and was better than the one used for sushi. The gyoza was average. The salmon skin was AMAZING! Very tangy. Mackerel sushi was something I've never tried. Very refreshing with ginger.

The karage chicken soft bone was a bit disappointing. It was too salty!

They also had 5$ cocktail night, the lychee cocktail floats were delicious!

Overall, very satisfying experience. Better come early because line was very long at 7:30 when we leave.
Ray Cho
Had the sushi and a few drinks here and sadly, the sushi was below expectations (which weren't very high off to begin with). Their sale was average (priced okay) but their bar-made drinks were below expectations as well.

I think my fav part of the restaurant experience was the stunning interior design, aesthetics and customer service.
Snapshots Of Food
Japanese Yakitori is nothing new to us, in fact it is one of our favourite treats that take us right back to the heart of Shinjuku. If you haven't already tasted yakitori then we encourage you to try it. Yebisu Bar and Grill, located in Sydney's China Town has a wide range of Yakitori options to taste. There are well up to 50 different items on the menu, each item you might think is very simple... but the you will surprise yourself when you realise exactly how much flavour there is.

Large selection of Japanese food, lunch sets are generous so please come here with a hunger! Haha
We ordered 2 lunch set and some mocktails, digital ordering system is straightforward and service is fast👍👍
Strongly NOT recommended. No next time!!!

I went there on an extremely cold night for dinner. Except the dumplings were warm as it was served on the stove. All the dishes are JUST warm not even hot warm or warm warm it was just warm. And if u look closely the photo that I put for the grill platter. U can clearly see the pinky colour of the meat which was not cooked completely. And it is not beef or salmon it is chicken!!!

When the cheese curry foundue takoyaki was served, it wasn't hot and the cheese wasn't melting. The cheese was like a rubber. The takoyaki was not crispy or crunchy it was so soggy.

I do not understand why did they put the eel rice in the clay pot it wasn't even warm on the side of the clay pot. We asked the waitress she touched the BOTTOM of the clay pot and said its warm. Then she started to tell us how to eat that eel rice by putting the hot soup in the rice blablablabla~honestly I have no idea why did u put the rice in the clay pot... As it's not even able to keep the rice hot.

This is a very disappointment experience I want to warn everyone. Please make sure you check the food has been cooked before u eat in this restaurant. Consider the price range they are charging... I tell u would have a lot of choices to get decent Japanese food in the Sydney CBD

When we order fried udon and crap cuttlefish it not coming untill 40 minutes, we canceled that
and we order crispy skin of chicken skwer it not crispy and not exactly cooked.. other scallop sushi and gyoza is good. But we got angry when we wait too long.

The food is good and environment is good as well. I will give 5 to their food, but they don't let us select the seat but they have plenty seat at 14:45. But the food is really fantastic.

Yebisu team did a great job again
I am a big fan of yebisu izakaya
At regents place at townhall.
They opened the new one in china town

We ordered
- curry cheese pondu with takoyaki
- potato salad with mentaiko sauce
- today's yakitori set (great value)
- and ippin sake 600ml in a special jar with wooden scoop

They deliver the atmosphere of
Mainland izakaya style to the
Middle of chinatown in sydney.

Highly recommend
if you live in this Area :)

(When you order yakitori, they put cabbage with sweet miso sauce with it
- combination is good !)

Friday dinner for 4. The restaurant was fully and very lively. Occasional the staff would ring a bell and everyone would cheer and so was a bit noisy at times. It was our first time there so we didn't quite understand what was going on but everyone seemed to be in good spirits. We really liked the seafood hot pot. The other dishes were fairly good. Ordering from the tablet on our table was an easy and efficient process. The food came out quickly. All in all we had a good time.

Really disappointed by this restaurant. Came with my friends. Flavour of all kind of food is quite normal and really long queue. Bad customer services. Won't come again!

A great place for Japanese. A bit expensive. Loved their tofu dish and BBQ. They also have variety drinks. Overall a great place for drinks and some Japanese bite

Over the past couple of years I have dined at Yebisu Izakaya in Regent Place (which you can read here and here) and have had great pleasure in eating there. . Recently I was invited to dine at the newly opened Yebisu Bar & Grill on Dixon St in Haymarket. I was definitely keen to taste more of those yakitori from the open grill. On arrival you can take the stairs or the lift up to the first floor. The walls have a very modern street vibe which reflects Japanese heritage, cultural and colour!
Tortuguita Comiendo
Japanese restaurant on Dixon Street in Chinatown with touchscreen monitors where you can order food and drinks.
The food is good quality and very tasty. We had sukiyaki beef hotpot and lotus chips. The soup of the hotpot was sweet and it was enough for two people. You have to order any noodles separately so it's an added cost. Drinks are small in size. Overall, good food and drinks but slightly on the expensive side.

The service was good, friendly and efficient. The Japanese staff are so friendly and try to help explain the food even with their limited English.

The decor is funky and cheerful.

Went here last night. The food is absolutely disgusting! Sashimi plates are not fresh cut and prepared. It's all been plated before and wrapped ready for order. The Japanese grills are not even fully cooked it's raw inside. Returned 10 skews. The Karaga chicken is way too salted. This newly opened restaurant are not like any jap restaurant at all.

I have to warn you guys please don't waste your money and time to try it!
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
A smiling Ebisu beams down from above the lift that takes you up into this riotous new Japanese bar and grill. Ebisu is a bit of a cheeky reference, because as well as being all about plentiful fishing (he’s clutching a red snapper and holding a fishing pole) he’s also the traditional Japanese money god. While not over-priced, the new Yebisu Bar & Grill certainly is an easy space to drop some coin, starting with their double-sided drink card. From colourful cocktails on one side, to whisky, whisky highballs, sake, shochu served straight and lengthened into chuhai (shochu highballs), wine and beer on the other; there are more than a hundred and eighty ways to get your booze on. Cue me, five minutes later, double-parked with a Suntory Koyu Ginger Highball ($8.80) and a Kirin Ichibanshibori ($7.50). Five minutes later, the sake trolley arrives at your table, and somehow...

This is a Very fashion but traditional Japanese izakaya restaurant in Chinatown, they serve the best food and the best service plus the best atmosphere.

Absolutely gorgeous Japanese restaurant hidden away on Dixon St! Don't be put off by the staff hawking you in from the street, this is one of the most authentic Japanese spots in Sydney (according to the Japanese bf).

The restaurant itself has a pretty cool vibe. It's cheery and colourful, with paintings of anime characters and Mt Fuji adorning the walls. It's generally quite busy so expect to wait a few minutes, but that being said, once you're in then the service is very quick and efficient, with the introvert-friendly iPad ordering system that is so common in Japanese restaurants.

We ordered the scallop nigiri, takoyaki, wagyu beef yakitori and cold soba noodles. The scallop nigiri were pretty standard, enjoyable but no different from other scallop nigiris I've had. The takoyaki was crispy, creamy and full of flavour! Incredible. The beef yakitori however was my firm favourite. We ordered one skewer with teriyaki sauce and one with salt, absolutely heavenly. The cold soba noodles were good, I'm generally not a fan of the cold dishes though (bf however is obsessed with them).

Would I come here again? Abso-frickin-lutely.
