Awesome seafood,so delicious, lots of selection and reasonably priced, friendly service
This place probably has the best fish and chips in the whole fish market. Generous portions of crispy beer battered fish and the chips are super crunchy. The fish and chips from two other places that Iβve tried at the market are soggy and stale. This place also provides tartare sauce for you so donβt have to worry about paying for sauce!

At @SydneyFishMarket there are 6 types of oysters on display that you can choose to taste, 4 of which being the famous Sydney rock (SR) oysters, harvested from different regions. The SR oyster π is a species endemic to Australia and New Zealand. Despite the name they are not found in Sydney but rather in bays, inlets and sheltered estuaries from eastern VIC, along the east coast of NSW and up to southern QLD. The SR is characterised by its deep, rich and lasting sweetness.

. Bundabah SR 1β£ hits you straight away with the intense umami and possesses a firm texture.
. Bruny Island 2β£ is less firm, milder in taste but much creamier.
. Lemon Tree Passage SR 3β£ is also rather mild but sweeter than Bundabah.
. Moulting Bay 4β£ is the strongest tasting as it's super smokey and high in mineral intensity.
. Quibray Bay SR 5β£ is a mixture of fresh, soft, sweet and creamy, my favourite!
. Camden Haven 6β£ has a rich flavour, not too milky but with super sweet and soft flesh.

Came from Melbourne for a friends wedding, had to try this place as we watched a video on youtube Worth It saying its a great oyster place, tried their Turess Lake oysters and it was delicious, shucked upon ordering, the flavour of the oyster taste like fresh sea water and extremely fresh flesh, something you have to try to understand the flavour. Not sure why their ratings are very low at the moment, maybe zomato needs to open a separate file called Doyles Oyster Bar, worth a try if you're in Seafood Market in Sydney.
Seafood is always fresh and delicious. Excellent seating area that is always clean and lots of open air flowing through so it doesn't smell damp and smelly like the other internal places. Absolutely love the oyster bar, it changed me from being someone that dislikes oysters to love them as they are so fresh! These people really know what they are doing I recommend the fresh cold seafood over the cooked ones even though their grill is tasty it's a bit over priced. Well worth the visit though!

We went around 2 pm on Good Friday and despite it being the busiest day of the year, we managed to get a seat and the wait was pretty reasonable considering the throngs of people (and we were able to eat a dozen beautiful Sydney rock oysters and drink wine while we waited. We ordered the lobster platter which was plentiful and delicious and very reasonably priced. Would definitely return (perhaps at a less busier time)

Oysters were large, plump and unbelievably fresh. However I wouldn't say they are any better than oysters from another stall. The grilled octopus was a slight disappointment. The meat wasn't very tender. In fact it was rather tough and chewy. They were well-seasoned though.
It was my very first time at the Sydney Fish Market and it was a pleasant experience. Though a little busy, I especially liked they had cleaners frequenting the a4ea incase if there's a vacant but dirty table, they'd wipe it down immediately without being asked.
We had the platter, eel, scallops, abalone and fresh salmon (which was not as cold as preferred) but majority of the seafood is quite tasty and fresh! I really enjoyed it here, does get a little expensive as there's so many good eats!
Had lunch here and ordered the Seafood platter for 2, Corona and a Rose' wine. The Seafood here tasted fresh and the batter used was light and crisp. The oysters and scallops were excellent and not fishy at all. The octopus was on the chewy side and the calamari was bland on its own so you'll need to have it with tartare sauce. The fish cocktails were delicious but it only came with 3 which was a little bit disappointing. The only thing you'll need to be aware of is that they do have card surcharges (1.1%) and the lines are long so you will have to wait for your food and drinks. Furthermore finding a table is extremely difficult during peak times too. Also the floors and tables are a bit dirty because of how busy it is.
it can get a little busy here and you might need to wait a for a while getting a table... also depends on your luck with the timing of ur arrival. food... as usual... is deliciously cooked. but beware sitting outside at the front... though the rubbish disposal container might seem far enough... depends on the wind direction... you might get a whiff of garbage smell coming from the container... as it is being used by the shops around throughout the whole day... and again... depends on ur luck. =)
The portions were a good size and had good flavor. We tried three types of prawns, two scallops and some John Dory fish that came with five pieces. One Greek salad and a house salad filled in the rest of the cracks in our appetite. It's been 34 years since we've been to Doyles ( last time at Watson's Bay).
Best choice for Oysters fans.
Oyster quality is very good. I had ordered Sydney rock in different shops at the same day. Doyles one is the best and also the most expensive. But it is worth the price.
Also the customer service is partient when answering the question and giving advice.
Grilled seafood is not bad. Good to try.
Last but not least, the environment is clean and cozy too.
Walked in just before lunchtime so it wasnβt too busy yet. Staff were really friendly and helpful, great service. Had the barbecue grilled platter for 2 and a lobster mornay - loved them both and would be glad to swing by again.
I would like to try all the different lobster options: garlic, xo, Singaporean chilli etc.
The place was starting to get busy when we finished so highly recommend coming slightly earlier to avoid crowds.
