I had the beetroot toast w boiled eggs and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Simple and delicious, good portion and flavours were balanced. Service was fine, food came out quickly - cute space.
5th Earl “baked eggs” is hands down the best shakshuka I’ve ever had. It is a lamb shakshuka that is cooked perfectly and packed with flavour. Portion size was perfect. They give a generous serving of sourdough (4 slices, unlike most other cafes that only give 1-2 slices).
The cafe itself is good for larger groups or small catchups with outdoor and indoor seating. Nil issues with Service.
Love! Super cosy cafe (great in winter), friendly staff and delicious food.
The toast was 👌🏼 (I love it when it’s actually a bit bread-y and not toasted to the nth degree)
Coffee was made well and the food came out quickly.
Would 100% return!
Took my mum here for a birthday brunch and we shared the big breakfast and blueberry pancakes. Food was lovely and staff were polite. It was only towards the end of the meal where we found that it was a bit difficult to get the staff’s attention even though it was not as busy anymore.
Came here for lunch. Fish tacos was amazing ⭐️smoked salmon scrambled egg and avo on brioche, poke bowl and their special Reuben Benedict were also amazing. Didn’t managed to take any photos as we were too hungry and the food looked too appetizing. Price could be just a little lower if not I would have rated 5 stars. All in all still one of the better brunch spots in sydney. New favorite brunch spot👍🏻
Actual rating: 3.5
5th Earl is a spacious cafe in The Cannery complex, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Regardless, be prepared to queue on the weekends. I had the beetroot and goats cheese smash on toast. This came with a perfectly poached egg and a jalapeno tequila relish which went well with an added side of smoked salmon. The lamb baked eggs was was a very rich dish - two eggs and a whole lot of shredded lamb meat will keep you full long after dinner time. The prawn linguine also got the thumbs up but the rosti special was deemed to be very average. I enjoyed my skim cappuccino and my friend's chai tea was made with freshly brewed leaves. Overall, a rockin' brunch cafe with good food and friendly service.
Found another cafe that I really like with both indoor and outdoor/balcony area. The dishes doesn’t sound overly fancy on the menu but boy when it arrived, they were delicious! Both the toastie and French toast I would happily order again next time I’m back.
Met a friend here for coffee and breakfast. I'm not a huge fan of Toby's Estate coffee but theirs was made well and was enjoyable. We ordered the brioche French toast which was nice, served with beautiful fresh berries. The pancakes on the other hand were dry, I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh berries and ricotta it came with though. Overall great presentation, good portions and reasonably priced. I would recommend this place. It's also very cosy and the service is attentive.
A very busy cafe. Very good food, matched with friendly service. Great atmosphere inside, a bit crowded but rather crowd than empty chairs right?
We have only been here once, we have heard great things so we thought we would go check it out. It was jam packed with all sorts of people ranging from different age groups.
The chairs here, I must say were fabulous. I think they were velvet, very royal like chairs, big and soft - very comfortable.
We tried the lamb sandwich, which was juicy and delicious. It was sooo big we had to take away half of it. We also tried the zucchini and prawn pasta which didn’t disappoint.
We will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu.
Good vibes and ambiance, friendly and attentive service. Outdoor seating area is very comfortable and relaxing. Their coffee ( Toby’s Estate) is not my favourite but barista made the best of it! Food wise, I had green bowl; it was hearty, had a nice dressing, but I find it that it was a bit pricey for what it is as it simply didn’t have any creative or wow factor flavour! Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed every bit of it, but could have costed a bit less. My friend enjoyed his burger and chips as well, though same story about pricing applies to that dish too apparently! Overall simple, satisfying good food and great service!
Nice breakfast spot in the heart of Rosebery. The food is always delicious and never shy on serving size.
Cost is above average but you really do get what you pay for, and with the added bonus of table service we think it's worth it.
Considering a lot of families go here, could probably have more child friendly options, otherwise love everything else about it.
Definitely recommend trying this one out during a lazy Sunday brunch.
Came here for lunch and ordered the housemade crunchy falafel with pita, hummus and sweet potato fries. The falafels were very crunchy but was lacking some flavour and fluffiness inside. There wasn't really enough garlic sauce or hummus so most of the flavour came from the beetroot which was nice but not really what you expect from a falafel plate. I swapped regular fries for sweet potato fries and they were ok but could have been crunchier - the aioli was great though. Overall lunch was just ok..but my friend's Poke Bowl and the corn flakes chicken burger looked great!!
I went to this place because I wanted to have a look at the new Saphorium located in Rosebery, which gather several café, bakeries and shops in a very nice and cosy place.
5th Earl Rosebery attracted me because of the plants everywhere and the decoration, which make you feel like in your garden. They have a breakfast and lunch menu with daily specials.
We tried the House made crunchy falafel with roast tomatoes, pickles, haloumi (which I loved so much, thanks Australia to make me discover this cheese), labeneth and grilled pita bread. This dish was very perfume and different from other place where you can find falafel.
We also give a try to the Philly steak roll with some coffee rubbed sliced sirloin, capsicum, cheddar and sweet potato wedges. The presentation of the plates is very well made.
This is a place for foodies like me who love taking pictures of their food.
I will come back to try other dishes for sure.
The task at hand, on a Sunday afternoon: Find a place that would serve one of us white wine, one of us coffee and one of us tea. Sweet treats welcome too. So, providing this already impressed us, as I’m not sure if anyone else is serving wine in the vicinity (on a Sunday afternoon) and having a gin or vodka at Archie Rose seemed a little excessive.
I really like this place. I'm never in Rosebery but if I ever need to come back I'll come here again. It's funky, chilled out, and has a great vibe.
The fish tacos where really good. Lightly battered and perfectly crisp fish, relaxing in a spread of avocado and bathing in a tangy mayo chipotle sauce, all wrapped in soft tortillas.
The burger looked great, and although I didn't taste it, was told it hit the spot.
The service here is really friendly, caring and informative.
Highly recommend as a family friendly venue with good attentive service. Probably best to dine outside if you can as it is quieter than inside and conversation can be heard.
This place is amazing. Very cosy decor, fast service, great menu, decent portion sizes and awesome coffee. We've been here twice now and will definitely be regulars. First time round, I ordered the granola with coconut yoghurt and fresh fruit. Sensational! Beautifully presented and utterly delicious. Today, I had the brioche toast with bacon, maple syrup, ice-cream and fresh berries. Sinful but worth every calorie! My partner had the crab omelette and loved it. Highly recommend a visit.
Came here for breakfast and I was very impressed by the friendly staff.. It was a Saturday so the cafe was pumping, but the staff managed to quickly seat us and get us our coffees. We all thought it was going to take ages for the food to arrive but everything came out within 10minutes. The avocado and eggs on toast was simple but tasty. Nice decor, and friendly staff. Will be back
The magical ten kilometre radius around Sydney is one that’s undergoing transformation. I was just having a conversation with fellow Coco and Viner Sonia about how the back end of Surry Hills was, 20 years ago, a decrepit, undesirable part of Sydney. If only we’d bought one of those Victorian houses back then! Hindsight is a thing of fantasy as we admire those long-hall houses with beautiful, polished planks of timber. We admire the immaculate hedges out front and it’s accessibility to the CBD, cafes and well…everything! That same transformation that occurred in Surry Hills has now extended past Alexandria and into Rosebery, just five kilometres down the Eastern Distributor. Apartment blocks are reaching into the sky, and for those owning a house, have seen themselves become almost instant millionaires. To feed those flooding into the area, there is a new food hub that has been fashioned out of an old heritage-listed poker machine factory. One of the first eating establishments to open in this hub was 5th Earl. An indoor/outdoor venue, it has a country home vibe, with French pendant lights, dark brown floorboards, the most comfortable leather-bound chairs, cute little tables, and an exciting buzz as families and couples tuck into brunch.
The 5th Earl Rosebery is a fantastic destination for a weekend brunch....or anytime, as a matter of fact! Now that the Saporium has a weekly Saturday market day, I like to save my visit for Saturday to coincide with a bit of shopping at the many stalls housed in the old cannery warehouse! 5th Earl's interiors are a cross between a chic Parisian bistro and an Australian shearing shed with beautiful French pendant lights, subway tiles and bistro seating matched with exposed beams and rustic, weathered wood! The ambience is comforting and you'll definitely want to stay for a while! Tried the granola super bowl (w an abundance of delicious coconut yoghurt, fruit and berries) and the avocado toast (w fresh goat's cheese, cherry tomatoes and lemon coconut sprinkle on rye). Both very satisfying dishes to start the day right! I spied other diners tucking in to pancakes w fairy floss and berries and other eggy dishes and fritters. More substantial dishes come into play with the "Hungry" menu from 11am! The Earl would be proud!
Love the decoration and ambience of the place. A great place to take pictures, the plating is pretty too. The food was great especially the earl's burger and earl's big brekkie. Coffee was decent.
Yum! I love the french toast here when I'm in the mood for a brekkie treat and the salmon and eggs is delicious too. I've never had to line up for more than 10 minutes but if you've got a big party you'll want to book. Service can be a bit hit-and-miss but has only ever erred on the side of average, rather than bad. Great spot in saporium, very friendly staff and delicious food.
It's a busy place on the weekend. I love the ambience and the service was great. The food was consistently delicious as well. Have been recommending this place to my friends. Will definitely come back for more.
One of the first cafes to open in the new Saphorium located in Rosebery is now a hotspot for good quality coffee and food. There are indoor and outdoor seating areas with lots of plants giving you a really homely garden feel. They offer both a breakfast and lunch menu with daily specials.
The prices are very good for the quality and value and the customer service is good too. We have tried the Granola Super bowl, the Zucchini and corn fritters and the house made crunchy falafels. One of the daily specials we tried when we went was the Salmon and scrambled egg Croissant which was super tasty and fresh. All the food was delicious and we are looking forward to our next visit.
Love the special tacos. Food is deliciously and friendly staff. Might be confusing on the table queue as they don't write down your name. But all good.
Came here for brunch on the weekend. great social spot. love the lamb ragu pasta, the lamb is slow cooked. it melt in your month and so juicy. Grilled beef salad is also tasty. recommended for brunch

I visited 5th Earl last year on my birthday, I had been seeing delicious pics of their pancakes, and read great reviews prior to going
So obviously, I picked the pancakes! With berries, ricotta, maple syrup and fairy floss! Unfortunately I found it kind of underwhelming 🤔 I'm not so sure about the ricotta, but the berries and fairy floss were delicious! I also LOVED their sweet potato fries 😍
Personally I would pick the French toast but try everything!
First time today- can't wait to go again! What lovely staff and beautiful food. I ordered the Green bowl and a double shot soy late. Could not fault a thing. An added plus, the atmosphere is friendly and beautiful.
This is my new favourite local cafe. The place is so welcoming, the service is great and the staff are friendly, as well as helpful.
The food is healthy and well presented. The portions are decently sized and reasonably priced. I ordered a grilled beef salad and a fresh juice, both of which were delicious.
Absolutely loved this place - had the green bowl - like a breakfast salad and it was so delicious, fresh juices were lovely and so was the coffee. I definitely think the chefs know which foods compliment each other and they bring it together beautifully. The menu is fantastic.
Only complaint is that once we were seated the wait staff didn't come to take out order, had to call them over after 10 minutes. It would have been better if they come over shortly after we are seated at least to get our coffee order as it wasn't particularly busy.
That said, there was a lovely guy who I am guessing was the manager or owner, he was going around chatting to the patrons and making sure everyone was happy with their food and he was certainly more attune to the customers needs. Really great breakfast spot and we will be back often.
So so good! Have been back here lots of times with different friends. Stand out dishes include the Mediterranean baked eggs and the Alaskan crab omelette. Each dish is beautifully presented, coffee is nice and the service friendly. Next time will try the brioche French toast perhaps!
Because the marshmallow & berries pancakes so I went there for a brunch!!
The earl grey tea arranged with really nice tea set, with little cup of milk .
Chicken and black sticky rice salad is nice, but too me it was a little bit oily, the portion is too big for me as well, couldn't finish it.
The 5th Early beef burger is nice, very juice !
Have to say the soft shell burger did surprised me, tasted awesome !!
The pancakes look very flurry and nice, but too many thing on the top, also without the topping the pancakes tasted so so...felt disappointed tho.
This place is fabulous.
Beautiful outdoor setting under a refurbished industrial wood balcony with fire-engine red pipes, vintage lights and snuggly warm cushions.
Super friendly service and delightful Mediterranean inspired food. Healthy and tasty.
I got the shakshuka pulled lamb baked eggs - to die for. Sooooo tender. Massive range of fresh juices in tall glasses and dessert cabinet to make you woozy.
I'll be back for sure.
Food was yummy yummmmy yum! Very busy tho so it's a little hard to get a table ! Get in early . Service a bit slow too but food is fab !!!!!
Came here on a Sunday morning and while it was quite busy, it wasn't too long of a wait for a table. The service was quick and the waiters were so friendly. There's a variety of items on the menu to choose from but I eventually settled on the Brioche French Toast which was very tasty. 5th Earl would have to be one of the top breakfast/brunch places that I've been to and would definitely recommend.

We had heard of this place and were keen to go in and try the brunch. The interior and decor of this place is awesome. Part of a larger industrial complex they have done an amazing job with making it comfortable. While there is usually a wait for a table it is not too long and the staff are very accommodating. The food was good and the atmosphere was friendly. While good it was not as amazing as people had said maybe we built it up based on others views. It is worth a look and visit if you are over Rosebery way on Saturday/Sunday.
New shop with good quality food. Enjoy my time with family. Salmon and pasta is tasty and price is right.it is getting hard to get in during weekend with queue
We were here for brunch and this place was packed on Saturday morning. The cafe buzzed with busy but energetic atmosphere, service was attentive and friendly. Everything on the menu looked delicious with a hint of Mediterranean flavours. We ordered a lamb & mushroom ragu baked eggs and a grilled beef salad. The serving size was generous and the flavours were spot on! Next time, we will be back with empty stomachs and try other dishes. This is a great cafe for social catch ups and long lunches.
The service here is really good, the waiter is really kind and friendly. I really like the seasoning on the avocado, also the egg cooked really well. The pancake also fantastic it reminds me of home
Best place for breakfast!!! Friendly staff, extraordinary coffee. Been twice this weekend!
Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good quality breakfast/lunch
There isn't much to say, this place is delicious, great atmosphere and friendly staff- what more could you ask for?
We had the stack and granola - Granola is by far my favourite! So fresh and light perfect for breakfast on a Sunday morning.
Nice cafe in an old warehouse in Rosebery.
The food is really good. The shakshuka is highly recommended, it's full of wonderfully seasoned and cooked meat. Milk shakes are great also.
The green bowl is a winner! Green, Healthy and absolutely delicious. Food came quickly and service was attentive. Very pleasant experience!
I wasn't too convinced when 5th earl popped up on my radar while I was hunting for a brunch location in Rosebery but you have got to try everything once they say. Glad I did!
I ordered the spice chicken which I absolutely adore. The chicken was oven roasted and had a spicy rub which along with the roast chicken juices, made for a thick, spicy and flavoursome gravy. It was very similar to a dry indian curry in flavour. Really packed a good punch. I think it was very smart to pair this with tahini yoghurt as that cut out a bit of the heat from the dish. The chicken was accompanied with a divine and light mix of mediterranean grains including quinoa, cracked wheat barley and chickpeas. The heaviness of the chicken gravy balances perfectly with the lightness of the grain mix. Splendid dish!
My friend had the green bowl with an extra serving of salmon. Whilst the dish was refreshing, the salmon was way too dry.
I would go back to eat that spiced chicken a million times. Absolute treat for a cold day!
Vanessa: The Sydney suburb of Rosebery is fast becoming a hub for cafes and eateries leaving us spoilt for choice. The 5th Earl is frequently featured on many an Instagram feed so it was a clear choice for a recent breakfast catch up with friends. We arrived at 10am and the place was buzzing, I was instantly thankful to have booked a table the day prior.
Love this place!! Visit multiple times a week. Have now tired everything on the menu. Food, coffee and service keep me going back for more. Soft-shell crab burger is a must to try.
Best place, amazing food, friendly service and a funky decor. Highly recommend this cafe. The pancakes are superb, good portion size , so much flavour and beautifully presented.
A nice cafe within a converted warehouse. The cafe has alfresco dining aswell as indoor seating. We visited for a Sunday brunch with a larger group. Understandably it took a while for a table to become available for us. The staff were very attentive. The owner was there and made an effort to interact with the diners and even apolagised for the wait. Which we thought was a nice touch. They have a range of drinks to choose from including leaf teas, juices, milkshakes and a decent coffee. With an all day breakfast and lunch menu available. There was no shortage of choice with healthy breakfasts and salads to more endulgent meals like pancake stacks, burgers and pasta.
We ordered the granola with toasted musli, yogurt and fresh fruit a nice healthy option. We also ordered the baked eggs. This was very tasy with 2 eggs on a slow cooked tomato based lamb ragu. Our friends ordered the alaskan king crab omlette with an addition of goats cheese and a side of hollendaise. They also ordered the earl breakfast, this cafès version of a big breakfast. This was a huge serving of eggs, bacon, lamb sauasage, avocado, buffalo mozzarella sour dough and the cafes baked beans. Another ordered the benny burger, an eggs bendict buger on brioch. This cafè is a great option for brunch, but also good for breakfast or lunch.
New favourite lunch spot. Seriously, this place does no wrong. Sensational coffee and amazing food. Not to mention, their staff are incredible. Always willing to help you with recommendations, and very attentive!
I have told family and friends about this place because I love it so much, and everyone who has been there has told me that I definitely did not talk the place up.
Anything you order is amazing, but i LOVE the black rice salad. Give it a try and tell me if it is not the most delicious thing you have ever tasted!
One of the best cafes I have been to in Sydney. Everything is amazing, from the food to the coffee to the decor! Love it and recommend it :)
Realistically, 5th Earl were always in a difficult position to impress when considering nearby cafes in Rosebery. A winning start, is an early one. I've found early mornings at 5th delightfully quiet, with staff keen to chat and engage in friendly conversation.
Coffee here is good, and quick, even when busy. The Granola Super Bowl is delightful, although the granola perhaps a little too crunch for my liking. You can even opt for coconut yoghurt in this one. The menu is mostly you're average cafe offering, and perhaps caters for a slightly older crowd, yet delivers on execution. Price point here is suitable. Love the staff here and just love the naming convention.
Our new favourite place.. We have been here a couple of times already and it never ever disappoints!! The staff are 11/10, they are so polite and welcoming, and on top of that the food is full of flavour and so fresh all the time. You can tell the hard work that has happened to make this place perfect. We thoroughly enjoy coming here every time and find it hard to fault. The coffee, the food and the staff are all wonderful, just what Rosebery needed!
Rosebery has been on my radar for some time now, the only question was where to start. With a lazy Saturday dictating a late lunch, being one of the few places to stay open till 4pm saw 5th Earl go straight to the head of the class. The menu was big with lots of interesting options. We finally settled on the corn and zucchini fritters and the black rice salad with chorizo. Both were very good. The service was friendly and it feels very much like a family affair - definitely an auspicious start to the Rosebery voyage of duscovery.
Their blueberry pancakes are hands down the best pancakes I've ever had! A bit pricey but heck it's worth it!!!!!!! Also the French toast is a must 😋 love the interior too!
Love this cafe, has a great vibe, quite trendy and dog friendly. Enjoyed their food, nice and fresh. I love eggs so was quite happy alot of their dishes included eggs. Coffee was perfect nice and hot. Place was quite busy but the service was nice and quick. The waiters were friendly, will definitely come back here again.
Cafes that open at the crack of dawn. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I am an early to bed, early to rise person. Firstly love the space that is 5th Earl Rosebery. Industrial with tiny touches of decadence, this place can fit 92 persons but I hear it gets packed during most people's normal hours of eating but at 7am it was wonderfully quiet. Hubs had scrambled eggs and chorizo which he had no complaints about but he had serious food envy of my brioche French toast and rightly so. Two thick slices of brioche that were pillowy soft with perfect streaky bacon, berries, curd and salted caramel ice cream. It was so so good. Hubs has already decreed we will be there next weekend so he can get the French toast. Coffee is by Toby's Estate. Decent caffeine.
Gone are the industrial warehouses of Rosebery and in their place are trendy cafes serving locals from all walks of life. 5th Earl may be young, but the solid team breezes past the busy weekend lunch crowds without breaking a sweat.
Food service was incredibly fast and staff are very attentive. Quirky little signs and mismatched cups made me feel like Alice in sugarland.
Although the food was aesthetically stunning, they were not perfectly executed. The pappardelle lamb ragu arrived well cooked but sadly lacked seasoning, while the zucchini and corn fritters would have benefitted from a sauce or yoghurt dip. Poached eggs were also a tad overcooked and rubbery, which perhaps accentuated the dry fritters.
Brioche French toast is diabetes on a plate with two thick cut slices of brioche, lush mascapone, salted caramel icecream, BACON and doused in maple syrup. Needless to say, it was love at first bite. There is plenty to love about this place and with a little tweaking of flavours, will keep me coming back for more.
Let me explain the amazing breakfast foods here in just one second, but first I want to tell you about the best service staff I have seen in a long time! The waiter that served us was friendly, funny and attentive to our requests which made the experience enjoyable. The breakfast food when we went was delicious and well cooked, in particular we loved the taste of their bacon, eggs & mushrooms and the food came out quite quickly! Definitely would come back again!
Really cool addition to the growing Rosebery food scene. Begging for a great relaxed all day breakfast spot. The pancakes were fun and perfect for a Sunday breakfast treat. Coffee is Toby's so it's ok. Staff were really friendly. Despite being quite full there's a really chilled out vibe. Perfect for a Lone breakfast or a group of friends. Looking forward to going back to try the rest of the menu.
So good! !! I went with two other friends and we all agreed that it was absolutely perfect. The service was so friendly, with chatty waitresses and a really warm greeting from presumably the owner upon entering. Though not usually a fan of Toby's Estate coffee, 5th Earl nailed it. I had the Eggs Benny Roll which was delicious, especially for only 10.50. My friends had the pancakes and the big breakfast and both looked fantastic. The pancakes particularly looked a treat with fairy floss and honeycomb. In summary - this place ticks every single box for me.
The latest addition to the Rosebery food scene does not disappoint. After opening the doors earlier this week 5th Earl was packed with locals enjoying a leisurely Sunday breakfast.
The fit out is beautiful, very contemporary and stylish.
I couldn't fault the food. Generous portions, delicious flavour combinations and healthy too.
The team is friendly and welcoming.
Definitely worth a visit!
