Maybe you won't believe if I said that I already went to this place 5 times for their high tea, one time back in 2018 for the Spring High tea and another four visit alone this year. Well, what can I say, I am truly a sucker for a thematic high tea. Petal Met Sugar is a small cake, coffee and florist store which never fail to amaze me with their high tee range. It located in Woolloomooloo area and actually can be reach by walking distance from St James station, you can just walk pass the St Mary Cathedral and voila you will reach your destination within 5 minutes.
Bought Scoopon voucher for this high tea on my birthday. It was the prettiest brunch i’ve ever had. All the pastries were not too sweet (swipe to the left):
- scones with yuzu jam&cream; scones was crumbly outside and fluffy inside, just it should be
- choux; when I ate the choux i already half full so i didnt notice how its taste like
- earl grey pond; strong earl grey and not too sweet with smooth texture
- green tea tiramisu; strong matcha and not too sweet as well
- salted caramel cronut; it could say it’s my fav so far. Firstly I was underestimate it would be taste so sweet like some cronuts i had before. But it’s not anyway.
Our hight tea package was included savoury stuff as well; salmon toasties (not a fan of sourdough so i didnt eat it), potato bread with scrambled egg (average taste but i liked the potato bread it’s very fluffy).
Anyway i was bit irritated with the coffee, I thought because we bought voucher so it came in small cup. It’s not enough for my hubby, so I tried to buy another 2 cuppa, and still...it came in small cuppa 😓
Such a beautiful place for a cake and coffee. All the cakes are presented so nicely and delicately. Matcha latte was very nice. Seating is limited though so may need to wait for a seat
While visiting Sydney.... we visited this lovely dessert house. The cakes were delicate, refined and delicious. The coffee to supplement was quite good too thanks to a perfectionistic barista. Limited outdoor seating available only so be warned.
I've been meaning to visit Petal Met Sugar for years now and finally got the chance yesterday.
I wish we'd booked for their spring high tea because seeing it on other tables; god it looked gorgeous.
Instead, we ordered scrambled eggs on toast and a double cheese pastry. The double cheese pastry was delicious and the coffee average.
Perfect place for the girliest brunch ever.
Make sure to book as the place only has 4 tables outside. The set up for the spring high tea is beautiful. Depending how many people you book, they’ll accomodate to that many servings on the acrylic tray. We had 3 so there was 3 of everything.
The moscato jelly was a nice surprise, the jelly had strong hints of moscato (and I don’t particularly like alcohol) but it was enjoyable. The palette cleanser was surprisingly sweet but good.
My favourite is the watermelon earl grey jam with scones, so good.
This place is always coming up with something new which is great!
I know there may be certain things on the menu that people like to order as creatures of comfort but it's also nice to be able to order something different.
Everything here is super pretty and their desserts have pairing twists that you've never even thought to put together but just go so well.
The service is also really good and the staff members are super friendly.
They have a limited amount of outdoor seating so make sure you book in advance.
It's definitely one to visit!
Petal met sugar is a small cafe that combines sweets and flowers. The cafe displays too pretty to eat desserts as you walked in, then a small display of beautiful flowers on their retail space and a very visible adjoining kitchen where you can see the pastry chef creating those edible artworks you just saw on display.
The interior is clean with white tile floorings and white plywood furnishings as if to humbly let the sweets and the flowers take centre stage.
The menu comprises of floral influenced sweets and drinks. I opted for the very instagrammable looking Terrarium, a white chocolate globe filled with passion fruit and finger lime pannacotta, brown butter soil and edible flowers. It's an incredibly delicate dessert that taste as good as it looks. I enjoyed it with a pot of Le Vie En Rose Tea which perfectly complements the dessert.
The Summer Rose Pav, with earl grey tea meringue, rose chantily cream, fresh strawberries, freeze dried raspberries, candied orange and lemon balm was vibrant and light. Their brownie was rich with generous amount of walnuts in the brownie. I washed all these down with Watermelon and Earl Grey Ice Tea which was refreshing and as elegant as their cakes.
I genuinely enjoyed the whole experience. The space is limited but the wait for the table is worth it. Warning: you will want to eat every cake in here, they're that pretty!
Cafe x Florist how perfect. There are only a few tables, so i would recommend a reservation. There is also a cute little kids table! Winter High Tea has now into Spring High Tea from the success of this one. . The Winter high tea ($30 pp). Scone – house made raspberry & rhubarb jam, jasmine tea infused cream
Such a cute mix of cafe and florist! Coffee was weak to my liking and as I was in rush, I couldn't have any delicious looking tarts/pastries but it sure is on my list!
Lovely patisserie and florist that never disappoints with the delicious treats on offer. They do great coffee and amazing selection of tea that is just perfectly matched to their high tea tasting. Highly recommended, just good luck getting a seat!
Such a pretty place!! All the cakes are beautifully crafted, and incredibly instagramable.
For eggs and bread, I got the potato roll, it’s really nice. Slightly dense, but not difficult to cut through with a knife, eggs were scrambled nicely.
Coffee was done well too!
Parking in the area can be slightly tricky, I went on a weekend, so street parking isn’t too bad. There’s always the domain carpark that is a decent walking distance from it, so that’s a good option too.
Anything with flowers, is my soft spot. So I give this place 5/5. But their desserts is really good, I tried their flower bomb, exterior is coated with white chocolate layer which is cracked to reveal the interior filled with mascarpone mousse, passion fruit jelly, meringue dust and spring blossoms. This is their spring- only menu!
Really cute little place with interesting pastries, cakes and croissants. Good coffees and drinks too. Not a lot of seating so don't expect to have more than four people seated easily. I believe they have about 5 tables of 4 available.

Love Flower Bomb cake, Cappuccino , ham Cheese Croissant & hot Cappuccino here. Good spot for quick breakfast & cake.
The place is really cute. I had the high tea set there which was really pretty but was a bit overpriced for the serving size, as there were mainly sweets and hardly any savoury dishes. But the seasonal high teas here are very pretty.
I love the fact that this is not only a dessert place, but it has a flower shop inside the cafe, pure beauty! It's a heaven for a sweet tooth like me.
