I had doubts until I walked in - this place is a gem! Food was incredible and so was the service. I really wasn't expecting the food to be at such high quality, menu is seasonal and needs to be updated on here. Expensive but was a great night out full of yummy cocktails and dishes
Great restaurant! The food is fantastic, the signature duck salad is the best salad I've ever had. Our waiter was great, very knowledgeable of the menu and was good fun. Will definitely be going back.

This is a hidden gem in the neighbourhood of "The Shire". They have an amazing mixologist who does beautiful, delicious, creative cocktails, such as this "Lovebite" Cocktail that totally bit me & made me smitten with a concoction of gin, cranberry, ginger & more....
The bread plate is popular, piled high with fresh, warm out of the oven garlic & rosemary foccacia, Sicilian olives, tomato salsa, baked ricotta & taramasalata.
The wagyu beef tartare was so flavoursome with a good balance of acidity to cut through the richness, accompanied by beautifully fried sunny side up quail eggs, delicious, golden crunchy onion rings & crispy Sardinia flat bread.
The quail sliders were a special & again not what I expected but better! Halved, juicy fried quails served on homemade buns, black garlic aioli & slaw.
Fresh handmade spinach linguine with a generous amount of crab & flavour packed was such a pretty & summery pasta dish. A little overseasoned for my liking.
Classic roast pork with that obligatory crunchy crispy skin / crackling was traditional & modern at the same time with caramelised figs, greens & mash.
An inviting, fun place that has generous and delicious food and beautiful tasty drinks!
We drive all the way from Newcastle to Gymea to have dinner at The Italian Stallion. That's 320 kms for the return journey. The food has to be something special for you to do that. James Watson is a standout chef. His Duck Salad is succulent, as is the Lamb, the Beef, the Scallops, the Crab Linguini, and the amazing white onion butter served with the bread course. You get the drift. Everything on the menu is lip smacking delicious. Praise also to Fabio who has to be the world's most charming and helpful waiter. Did I mention the cocktails? I need to stop now ... The long journey down is one of anticipation. The journey home sees us smiling contentedly.
We had a we had a table for six which included a couple who were not sure on what ithe food would be like. The night was great. Everyone had a great meal and the staff were attentive. It was only our second visit but their house special linguini dish with crab and chilli was, dare I say, to die for. So was the desert cannaloni with chocolate and cherries. Worth a try.
Good food and atmosphere. The service is really friendly so it makes you feel really welcome and the food is amazing as well. I think it's slightly more expensive compared to the rest of the restaurants in the area but it's well worth it.
Very impressed with the stallion. we had dins here with another couple. i had the scallops to start and they were flawless! she had the duck salad and the taste of that I had was pretty good too. for main I had the pork and it was delicious, the only flaw was the crackle wasn't crackly. she had the crab linguine. when it came out, it didn't look as good as the rest but it made up for that in flavour, delicious. for dessert I had the upside-down cornetto and she had their version of the eton mess - both were delicious. we washed all this deliciousness down with a bottle of the Torbreck GSM, this was the only letdown of the night.
the staff were great and the atmosphere was social and chilled.
In summary, very impressed, I will be back!!
Great Italian food - portion size decent for the $. Short menu but really well designed, everything seemed to gel on paper & we were happy with everything when it came. I had veal (first veal shank!) & hubby had pork belly - perfect accompaniments. Went for early dinner 5:45ish on a Friday night (with kidlets). Staff were great (moved a table to accommodate our pram). Was almost booked out but we were offered a table to be out by 7:30 - totally fine. Don't take kids/prams when busy as it would be too loud & squishy, but super early was good with lovely staff chatting to our 3yo...

I consider myself a waffle connoisseur and their waffles are top tier. Crispy on the outside, and unbelievably soft on the inside. I don't know where these guys get their hazelnut ice cream, but it must be straight from Gordon Ramsey's freezer because it balances perfectly with the salted caramel sauce. We have also enjoyed the mussels, lasagna and lamb ragu, and all were worth the money. Service is lovely, and staff are always accommodating. This may be one of our favourite restaurants.
La Cucina hosted an 80th birthday lunch for our family and I could not be more thankful to them for making it such a special day. The team went above and beyond to make it a memorable occasion, and every dish that came out was absolutely fantastic and cooked to perfection! I'm shocked to see a negative review from around the same time as our booking, the timing of delivery of meals was not an issue in my opinion, allowing a casual and relaxed dining experience among family without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. You guys facilitated a wonderful day for us - thank you!

Chicken a little on the dry side with not enough sauce.
Wait staff need to pay a bit more attention to drink needs of customers. Was not too busy but had to get attention of waitress to get another drink. Sat for over 5 mins with staff walking past and not noticing our table while we waited.
Have been here a few times and was always impressed with the food. I know times are hard at the moment to get staff etc. But if service lags there are plenty of other places keen to grab the customers.
My family and I love lacucina and have been many times over the years. The service and food is always fantastic! Good size meals for the price and delicious. We will be back again and again
