A lively bar with a great atmosphere and different rooms to hang out in. I liked that there was a pool table, booths to sit in, and a DJ upstairs. Drinks are reasonably priced with a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available. Bourbon and coke, vodka lemonade and lemon lime bitters were my drinks of the night.

The Clock is a lovely place to go to catch up with friends. Many spots on different levels to go and if you're lucky you could have the whole area to yourselves which we had (the courtyard) and it was so nice. Tons of vegan options which were all pretty good and a good selection of wine with clearly labelled vegan ones too.
Came for afternoon drinks with hubby and my favourite daughter.
People sitting outside in the Autumn sun, and even more on the balcony but was surprised when we entered into the front sports bar that it was quiet and very chill inside.
A function was going in The Courtyard, so we found a quiet spot in The Whiskey Bar.
I really want to come back to taste the food.
So many nooks and crannies to explore! You can be in the middle of the hubbub or find in a quiet area. A spot for everyone in this iconic pub.
Will definitely be back!
Every city has a bar that every tourist or expat must go / students who are just starting to explore the bar scene love to go / residents can’t help but re-visit from time to time, and this is that spot for Sydney. Drinks are pretty standard here but it occupies a really eye-catching Victorian style building right in the heart of Surry Hills. Each floor has a different vibe and therefore good for a wide range of events including: casual drinks, birthday parties, touristy ventures, and pregames (though it’s on the pricier side). Its Saturday night is packed with people catching all types of sports games, with each group looking at a different screen that are all pretty much meaningless to someone not familiar with Australian sports. Even though it’s pretty busy the service is great (especially on the second floor where there are less people). Will recommend if you are in the area or visiting Sydney!
Came here on a Thursday night during happy hr. Great place to try for happy hr drinks. $5 for a craft beer, can't complain at all. Should have tried the food but left it for the next visit. A good venue for work do at those prices.
The Beer battered flathead is pretty good and I find it a little bit more pricier than other places, but this place is a bit of an icon on Crown Street so you get what you pay for. The pool tables, outdoor balcony looking over the hustle and bustle of the street really make for a good night and are the drawcard for a group gathering in my opinion!
The Sunday roast on special (25$ with a beer) was pretty good. Not expected for this kind of pub. Good meat with carrots and Zucchini. Pretty crowded alk the time of the day and night. Famous in Surry Hills . Good pub to hang out with friends.
Nice pub with great food. Definitely enjoyed the atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon. However, Friday evenings and nights are filled with the type of crowd your priest or mom warned you about. The crowd was noisy, horny and drunk - something that would remind you of a Kings Cross type bar. People are pushing and shoving, not forming a queue and simply obnoxious. If it works for you, well and good.
Here is a pub that has absolutely everything. Ensure that you explore every book and cranny when you visit, I kept finding more and more. The bar downstairs is great for sport, whilst the balcony upstairs is a nice way to relax. Don't forget there's also the beer garden, a great little pool room, then there's also the whiskey room, which is extremely popular too. The night I went for dinner I sampled the scott fillet which was cooked to my liking, beautiful pizzas also await. I wish this pub was my local!
I went here with one of my friends to grab a quick lunch and drinks, we went inside and was amazed that they have a beautiful garden in the center. There were plenty of spots actually, different area, there's billiards on the side, garden in the middle, quiet little corners were you can even maybe read book etc. It was very relaxing and their pizza was great! Loved it. Nice place to hang out with group of friends or colleagues. So jealous of the people who work near Surry Hills! :<
Just loved he ambiance in here.
Service was okay, I will still come back here, best with friends! :D
Great spot in Surry Hills for afterwork drinks or a casual drink in the evening. Good happy hour and lovely food. Plenty of floors with different vibes as well as a cool beer garden. Pity it doesn't stay open late.
I like the venue overall and the food is ok. I've had steak here a couple of times - they were fairly decent, although both times I asked for medium-rare and it was more like medium-well done. I enjoyed the fries on the side. I've had pizza on the special night (Thursday I think) but I wouldn't recommend it - it was pretty crunchy, more like a biscuit than chewy pizza dough!
Great pub that has plenty of areas to drink and/or eat. The front bar has a row of comfy booths with the wall of many clocks as well as bar tables. On the next mezzanine type level is a huge whisky bar that also does a mean cocktail. Downstairs there is a large sunny courtyard and upstairs you can sit along the balcony and is suitable for large groups. I had the crispy skin salmon that was cooked perfectly. The grilled carrots were so good as a side along with some nice al dente green beans with French shallots. Comes with creamy mash however I decided to have my carbs in liquid amber form. Hubs and Mum got the Friday $15 steak. 250g with both hubs (medium rare) and Mum's (rare) spot on. Served with fries and green leaf salad, they were satisfied. They serve old school and craft beers on tap plus they have imports and craft selections in bottle or can. Large spirit selection and wine list.
Heads up - The Clock has 2 for 1 meals on Tuesday. Be prepared to battle for a car park and then battle for a seat, but if you persist, you'll have a cheap but delicious dinner. After the Butcher's Cut of steak was sold out, I ordered the beef brisket burger. Definitely nothing exciting or unexpected about it, but just a genuinely good burger. The brisket was flavoursome and not dry, as some brisket can be. I enjoyed it. My boyfriend had a steak from the regular menu and said it was good, but he wouldn't pay $30 for it usually. He said it was a touch tough. But, for $30 for 2, you really can't complain. The cocktails are lovely (and extensive), meals are enjoyable, there's a good atmosphere and we will definitely be back.

This bar is such a lovely place to go to for a drink or even a good feed. I've been here a number of times for different occasions and I haven't been disappointed so far.
(Leans on bar) went on a date here once upon a time*. Vibes were quite lively for a Wednesday night, though it was probably because of the ~yung professionals~ having a pint (or ten) after work.
Shoestring fries with the sauce were lovely - fresh, crisp and full of flavour. The fried calamari was similarly good although it was quite rich(??) and almost heavy after a while.
*the rest of the night comprised me of me accusing the guy of wanting to exploit cheap labour in third world countries and downing a very strong salted caramel Sazerac :-) it was ok, I guess
The Clock is a reliable option on Crown Street. Good consistent service, great classic pub menu and good vibes on a Saturday night. The balcony is a brilliant spot for watching the world go by over a few chilled beers.
This place took me surprise as it was a lot more spacious than I originally thought. Every level has unique decor and atmosphere, giving you a slightly different feel wherever you are. The staff are great and the kitchen cooks up top notch pub food! Wonderful place for after-work drinks and general catch-ups too.
The place is huge - downstairs bar, courtyard, upstairs bar, upstairs balcony, take your pick. We usually go straight to the balcony overlooking crown street. Drinks are more expensive than pubs off Crown street, you do pay a Crown street premium I suppose.
Sunday lunchtimes on the balcony are all time! All year round! I often meet my parents for lunch and it's amazing to sit up there and watch randoms float by, the food is great- the drinks are easy- the staff are friendly- it's wins all round.
Now I've been to the clock several times but this was the first time in The Whiskey Room. You enter through wooden swing door (Western saloon Esk) The area has its own bar with plumb leather booths. I had the rattle snake. Absolutely beautiful cocktail with a spray of absinthe to invoke the Christmas spirit. The bar tenders all have beautiful mos to fit in the place and music is kept at a respectable decibel so you can actually talk. Best recommended for an older crowd for an Intimate setting. The clock does have a more corporate feel downstairs, the courtyard and balcony is run smock with youngsters. Serves great meals esp their pizzas. A bit on the pricy side but it's a classy pub
The offering at The Clock has changed for the better over the years. The balcony upstairs is a great place to go and watch the world go by. The cocktails are always of superior quality and the food isn't far behind. In terms of bar food they do deliver but it's a little overpriced for what it is. Other than that as far as inner city venues go it's high in the list and is a must for a Saturday afternoon.
On the way to dinner @ Nomad , our team decided to have around of drink at this place . It is a nice place (and very busy) with multiple floors for sitting. There is also a cute little open backyard for outdoor sitting . We ordered different variety of beer and they were all good . Self service was the only negative as some of us were constantly going back & forth to fetch our drinks from the serving counter. In general nice place to hangout for a post work drink. For food - I may have to go back again ....
Clock is massive and has good atmosphere. I usually come on Tuesdays to take advantage of their two for one meal deal (so good!).
Clock serves really tasty and good pub food. I love their pork crackling dish (it's usually on their specials menu), and their seafood pasta. Their buffalo mozzarella pizza is good too but if you share it with another person, neither of you will be full.
Not the biggest fan of their butcher's cut/wagyu sirloin and their burgers are okay. Their red wine sauce is pretty watery and diluted- wished it was thicker and more flavoursome. But their scotch fillet is lovely and tender. I also love their mash! The dishes in the photos are $26 each (but $26 for both on Tuesdays!).
The clock is just awesome. So many terrible tequila fueled nights have started (and ended) here. Fantastic vibe and menu that hits all the right spots day and night.
Batter your tummies with a cripsy fish and chips and grill with juicy tender chicken for a quick bite during work. It's a great venue with various areas to enjoy.
...is a vibrant and fantastic bar. I've been here a few times and have not been disappointed, it's always full of people
You won't find any culinary masterpieces here or anything - more of a chill place to come have lunch or a beer. Enjoy the upstairs balcony or street seating cause the downstairs bar sort of smells like a hangover...

While I’m deep into my winter of whisky, I’m also partial to a good gin and tonic. Meaning I was excited to hear that upstairs in The Lounge bar, inspired by Spain’s dedicated tonicas (gin and tonic bars), award-winning mixologist Jeremy Shipley has scoured the globe for fourteen local and international gins to produce a specialist list. I started with The Botanist ($13) – a serious Scottish gin with twenty-two native botanicals, served up simply with New Zealand’s Quina-Fina (low sugar) tonic and mint. After dabbling in Spain with Gin Mare ($12) , I found my sweet spot with Hayman’s Old Tom ($10) - it positively sings against red capsicum. While these gins deserve to respected with simplicity, you will also find gin cocktails like Hotel Georgia ($16), dressing up the Plymouth Gin house pour with lemon juice, almond syrup, orange blossom water, egg whites and nutmeg. Throw in clever snacks like Mini Cuban Sliders ($8) with New York pastrami and beet relish, and Cheddar & Jalapeno
a casual, inexpensive sunday dinner with mates when no one feels like cooking
Thumbs up. I had a mojito and a ham & pineapple pizza. The flavours were really tasty. It wasn't too spicy either. The thin base was good too it wasn't doughy like some pizzas can be. Overall I would love to come here again . The upstairs bar had a really nice atmosphere.
Good spot. I like this place. upstairs has good vibes at night
Awesome burger!. Came here to meet up with a friend while en route to elsewhere. Having never been to Surry Hills I was very happy to find the Clock Hotel, it's cool, funky, somewhat elegant but laid back as well. A big place with lots of different rooms and bars, there's something for everyone it seems. We had quite a few drinks, enjoying the Monteiths IPA on tap, but dinner was where the Clock really shone. We had the cheeseburger, the brisket burger, and the fish of the day (salmon). I'm told the salmon was excellent. I'm proud of Adelaide's burger scene, but I regret to say that the Clock's cheeseburger was maybe the best cheeseburger I've ever had. No bull. Perfect in every way, with smoked mayo taking it over the top. The brisket burger was also really really good, but not quite in the same class as the cheeseburger. It pains me to say that of a Sydney pub, but there it is. Go try it yourself!
Fun. Great balconies and hidden little areas. I am from Melbourne and I really enjoyed finishing my Crown St day here. Will return again.
Great! Such a large locals pub with many levels/rooms.
Sunday sesh after 5pm means $5 drinks or $10 mojitos in the courtyard. Ask for the spiced Havana rum
Fantastic!. We had a great quiet drink here over the weekend. Decided to grab a bight, we were delighted. The food was delicious, service friendly and professional. The reno is fabulous. Above all a lovely atmosphere. Loved our visit to the clock.
Thursdays at the clock are brilliant! $45 Thursday Roast - awesome for 4 people for dinner - we tried the pork belly and the scotch fillet . Succulent , flavoursome, perfectly cooked, excellent value , best Thursday night dinner option in town - staff were so friendly, helpful, professional and nothing was a bother- cocktail happy hour from 6-7pm was cool - great buzz - up on the balcony was fab, without a doubt a regular for Thursday!!
Recommend for events/parties. The Clock Hotel service was great from the start. I recently organised my 25th birthday and those who assisted in organising it were great. The venue, atmosphere, food, cocktails and staff were all fantastic! I just wish it could stay open that little bit longer!!!
