We were looking for somewhere for an easy meal after drinks at the Green Park and one of our party mentioned this restaurant, which I’d heard of and had been meaning to try. Long ago, I remember Sel et Poivre being there, a French restaurant, that seemed to last for a good while. Now it’s a modern Australian cafe with a mostly Italian influence, and open for dinners Wednesday to Saturday.
Great dinner menu, perfect place for some cocktails and unique food! Love the atmosphere and the casual setting. The wine list is compact but delivers with rotating by the glass option can definitely recommend!

Tasty food, good coffee and great service. I Highly recommend to visit this Cafe in Darlinghurst and try the avocado toast, cured salmon and the bread pudding waffles. absolutely delicious
Avocado Toast : 😁 Great
Salmon Beets : 😍 Amazing
Coffee : 😍 Amazing
Hearing raving reviews from friends and seeing long line ups in the early morning, I was dying to visit Son Of Frank. What a treat it was! Not your typical avo on toast but absolutely loved the pita bread and you HAVE to add the Son Of Frank Eggs on top for the love of everything deep fried. Coffee was strong and creamy. Great service as well by all staff. Highly recommended.
Good service and good food. The Salmon Beets was delicious and refreshing with a perfectly cooked egg. The Avo Toast was also delicious served with warm pita and fried egg. The coffee is a must! Food was a little pricey for serving size.
Started my morning with a Calabrese scramble and a latte. The taste of Calabrese scramble was a new taste for me. I’m quite like the sour taste of the sauce and tomato.
The staff and owners are super friendly and charming and always make me want to go back. I usually have a cold brew and a takeaway coffee and never been disappointed. Food is fantastic - they do great scrambled eggs - though it would be nice if there were a few more vegetarian sides (maybe some homemade baked beans?)
Great place, wasn’t there on our last visit, parked the car over the road and saw this place, we said let’s try it, wow great place, nice to sit out side or in, friendly staff and great food at a good price. Would recommend a visit, we will be back.
Cold coffee is good tea is good everything is really good the service the staff and the quality. Good place to hang out as well . You can enjoy yourself here
It is very cute Cafe pretty new this lovely fresh Italian fusion brunch food and healthy take on Bloody Mary. such a reasonable price menu with great food and great coffee can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu
Good food in a nice atmosphere tucked away in a Darlinghurst side street.
Visited on a Sunday during peak brunch time. There was a bit of a crowd out the front waiting for takeaway orders and for tables.
When I visited, a very efficient staff member took my name and added me to the waiting list, which wasn't too long. He took our coffee order as well so we got to have that while waiting.
Food and drink menus are a double sided, laminated sheet and there is a good variety of food to choose from.
Our service was quick and efficient, though I did notice that the table next to us had to flag a waitperson down to have their order taken and then had to flag someone down again as a side dish was missing.
Food was good quality and decent portion. I ordered the "Feeling Rusty" dish. Not sure that I liked the beans being served in a single use disposable cup however.
Overall, a good brunch spot off the main drag of Darlinghurst. Worth a visit.
Great vibe, nice and bright, friendly staff, good coffee, snappy service. Lots of nice stuff on the menu and really reasonably priced breakfast food. The brekkie burger was wonderful. Speedy WiFi to top it off.
If you want to come to a cafe full of charm and character, this is it! I love the concept and comic-inspired art driving Rusty Rabbit; the menus are colourful and quirky, the food is delicious and the coffees hot and artistic.
I enjoyed the breakfast wrap (swapped out bacon for halloumi), and my company enjoyed the pancakes with a side of bacon, and the smashed avo. There was an incredible buzz in the cafe. My favourite part of the entire experience was my coffee with the latte art (pictured!) ☕️🍳🖤🥞🐇
Been coming here for years - food and service are amazing. Staff take pride in what they do and this evident from the moment you sit down. Highly recommended.
The Rusty Rabbit is up there as one of my favourite cafes. What immediately stands out is the unique personality of the brand. It’s playful, fun, approachable, just like all the staff. Many of the same faces have worked there for years. The food is just as tasty as it is quirky and I can never resist a cheeky hash brown.
Stopped in for coffee. Friendly barista and excellent coffee. The iced latte with almond milk was primo, great flavour and blended well 👍 super cute place across the road from the National Arts School
Cute little cafe - welcoming ambience, great service and very yummy pancakes. Coffee was made with passion - crowded on a Sunday mid morning. It didn’t get my 5-star because they use plastic straws.
The pancake was pretty nice and I had a nice mug to drink a matcha latte out of. The rest of the menu looked decent with a selection of burgers and breakfast goodies
